    I don't understand why labels do this. When your group is successful you need to share what they earned with them. If they're happy with the money they're making and their schedules, they'll usually renew. I don't know what they were thinking from a human or business perspective.

    • @yeonwookim4206
      @yeonwookim4206 ปีที่แล้ว +98

      Some labels aren’t about the longevity of a group, they only really care about what’s in the moment and what will make them the quickest money. They know that they can debut a group at any time because there are a million more trainees who want that spotlight and some trainees are willing to let them be manipulated for a long time because they don’t know much about the industry. Take LOONA’s Chuu for example. Besides, groups that are losing popularity aren’t seen as a priority anymore and even tho you’ve though you’ve gained popularity in the past that’s not enough to keep your group relevant on a daily basis so I don’t think they care too much about the idol as an individual they kinda just see it as a quick buck

    I think the company had a part to play in the members' having bad blood between them, if any. It was obvious that MLD favored certain members in the group and perhaps added to the list of things that went wrong. Miscommunication, lack of communication probably contributed to that as well. I hope in the future the girls can be at peace with each other and their careers.

    • @ikabikaboo
      @ikabikaboo ปีที่แล้ว +76

      I agree. This is a company that forced the members to pay for their own competition show. I'm sure that show had advertising that the company also benefited. MLD just sounds really unscrupulous. I would bet that the company pitted them against each other and did other things to harm the relationships of the members.

    • @birdy369
      @birdy369 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      100%
      A group is much more easily manipulated, and will accept much less from whatever source of power is over them, if they are divided against one another.
      Hugh Hefner did this with his girlfriends. One night they got together and told him that they didn't want to go out to the club that night. Hefner was pissed. He soon figured out that if the girls didn't like eachother, then they would never have gotten together and teamed up against him and his wishes. He would pin girls against one another, and instead of fighting for what the GIRLS wanted, the girls would fight one another to give him what HE wanted. (Because that girl would then get more attention, more money, and better opportunities at Playboy and in general - and he could then, give the group as a whole much less that way. Also made him feel like they were fighting over him too.)
      So think of that dynamic in a kpop group under crappy management - much easier to control and have as obedient if you turn them against one another, ESPECIALLY if you turn the main group against the ONE who is fighting against the power aka the company... you wouldn't want your group to befriend the rebel - because then your group could get ideas of their own about turning against you too!
      It's sick manipulation tactics but it's something that's much more common in SO many industries, its a super common and successful business tactic, and it occurs in any situation where you have a group with one power in common over them.
      Now, perhaps daisy saw that and took it sour that the group couldn't see it for themselves - perhaps she felt screwed over in friendship that they would listen to the company over their loyalty to their friend - we may never know! Heck. She may not even have a problem with any of them at all in general and is just tired of hearing about it all!
      But
      I wouldn't go as far as to put it past MMLD to manipulate their group members against one another in order to maintain power over the group as a whole. I mean you see their treatment of FORMER members... why NOT turn the group against them or against eachother in order to maintain leverage?

    Just to be clear, I'm pretty sure MLD forbid momoland to talk to the other members that were kicked out. Even yeonwoo when she was forced to be MLD's actress the members couldn't talk to her even tho they're still under the same label. The only time the remaining momoland members kinda mentioned the others was on their vlive on december 2019 wishing that things would be better for all especially kpop groups next year and they all cried. It's all because of the trash management of the company!

      This is true. MLD forced separation so they were never able to talk to each other. Now that the other members are free of MLD, we'll see if any amends are made. Keep in mind these were all young girls who wanted to be able to promote and be on stage in front of fans so would follow what the company asked them to do

    I've been a KPop fan since 2009, when 2NE1 disbanded I thought I was done with it. But in 2020 Momoland brought me back. The more I got to know the group I feel pity for them on how MLD Entertainment had treated them. They had great chemistry between each other and the company ruined it. As much as it hurts Merries should give Momoland time to heal. Pretty sure I'm not the only one who wants Momoland to be together as OT9 but it's impossible right now. Only time will tell.

    The kpop industry is extremely competitive. The idols are pitted against each other for years and then suddenly expected to become a united team once the debut line up is solidified. This toxic relationship foundation can get better and turn into beautiful friendships with time and a great working environment, however MOMOLAND as OT9 did not have either.

  • @neilwu3912

    I feel the sadness comes from watching groups like Momoland consist of people who, due to being so close together, we think of them as forming friendships and share in each others' life trials and tribulations, while also contemplating that they might not necessarily have got along even though they work hard in their songs and dance routines. Personalities clash, cliques might form, and non-work issues might seep in. At the end it's just another workplace, and members might appear to be friendly when they might want to hide their true problems for the sake of the team.
    And even if they were some large close knit group of life buddies, they got a business management that likely brought a negative or disruptive influence.
    Imagine being great friends with someone like Nancy, but due to legal or company policy you had to leave and she's not even allowed to talk to you anymore. It's very crushing, it makes you feel like you did something wrong to lose someone in your life. And being celebrities, it's all open to the public to talk about. You might still love and admire her, but feel like the feeling and well wishing is mutual.

    That happens a lot not only in that business but everywhere, people take advantage of young people most of the time and sometimes they told you that is for good, some young people believe that other don´t, and then came the hate and misunderstanding among them, later you get older and then realize that you were scammed, you learn and go on, people see this girls like beautiful, powerful and graceful goddess, the reality is that they when signed the contract where just a couple of years ago just children, they were baited with the promise of money and fame, and just looted by contract, sadly is normal that this happen and they can´t react properly, it´s a weird position.

    I can see eventually cutting Yeonwoo and Taeha because they both have a similar voice to Jane where only 1 is needed but Daisy was a standout with a unique tone and texture to her voice as well as very unique rap voice. Cutting Daisy was their eventual downfall. The same is going to happen to Itzy with Lia gone as she was the unique voice, the sweet one, and the visual. Where Itzy could survive without Yuna, they cannot without Lia. Momoland could have survived without 2 of the 3 big voices Jane/Yeonwoo/Taeha, they could not survive without Daisy.

They killed the golden goose and in the process drove a wedge between Daisey and the other members when they didn't fight for her to stay in the group. I'm sure they were nearly powerless though, being so in debt to the company with a shady contract.

    With the members, not every group end up being very close like BTS or Rainbow sometimes you are just a co-worker within an Idol group and their leave is not because they were bullied or abused in some way by the members of a group. Also, it should be noted that the six remaining members have mostly gone "radio silent" on SNS JooE even archived all of her Instagram posts except for one picture that has the comment "I miss Merries".
    Momoland in short is a group that was more sinned against than sinning and while I know Drama or gossip "moves the needle". Sometimes groups just are not that close with former members. Momoland was a group that was never really allowed to explore the more chic or mature concepts the members wanted to try ala Apink in there I'm So Sick era.

  • @tinmant4127
    @tinmant4127 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I think momoland was just unlucky, they had a bad agency that probably pitted the 3 ousted members against the others and it just cascaded from there. When you have turmoil in the agency, you're going to have turmoil in the group and it would then just be toxic to work in. Unfortunately I think this is the last of momoland, unless years from now they do a one time reunion show. I don't think another agency is going to sign them, unless it's individually and probably only ones that can go solo.
    Unfortunately, agencies like these exist to scam these young kids with big dreams. Not knowing how the industry works, these record labels and agencies try to scam and write ridiculous contracts where these idols don't make anything and charged for things like production and so forth.
    The US music industry has been known to really give terrible contract signings as well. The artists usually only make money touring in concerts and special events where they are guaranteed money. Most artists don't make any money from album sales, unless they are the producer and writer of their music where they can get royalties. As far as Kpop industry, it seems for every 1 bighit agency, there are 10 scam agencies that take advantage of the artists. I think some of these artists should try to go to AOMG and see if they can get the support they need there.
    It's crazy how short sited these agencies are, like the big 3 and these other smaller agencies. They really push the social media engagement and really get the fans to become loyal to those idols, then they just toss them aside, scam them of money, or even not allowing the artists to produce and write music. You got guys like JYP who hold back their stars, so he can hog all the limelight thinking he's what people want to see (when he is just and old guy singing off key and dancing like an old person pretending to be young), when he should be behind the scene and only be on judging shows. Hell even YG knew to finally step down so that his company could grow without him holding them back.
    Look at HYBE how they allowed BTS to flourish, write, produce their own songs and share in the profits and gave them shares in the company. Which only created a good working relationship and allowed that company grow from a boutique agency, to now one of the biggest Korean Company in the nation and most influential music company in the world. This is the same company that now has Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande as well. Going to be crazy how fast this company will grow these next few years/

    Daisy and the rest of the girls need to be returned to the group. Thank God, having terminated the contract with the company, they are now independent and can, having found a decent sponsor, start working independently. There should be nine talented girls in the group. This will enrich the vocals and enhance the visual quality of the dance.
