How about that time YG created a GirlGroup only to date one of the members he deemed as waifu material. She is 12 years younger than him and at the time he first saw her and became attracted to her she was still in middle school. When she applied under his company he accepted her as a trainee and showed off his power and goodwill by making her a member of the group. He disbanded them when he basically reached his goal of successfully grooming her.

It actually depends on the group. I know TWICE has accepted prepackaged food, not sure if they actually ate it, though. They did drink some type of chocolate drink given by a fan but, again, it was prepackaged😊

I remembered another crazy story.
GirlFrND, a trio consisting of Sunny, Eunji and Gayeon, made their debut in August 2001 with the song "Tonight" (which is a BOP) from their album "Girl From New Dream". The song became kind of popular, but after a lipsync failure incident, someone leaked some information saying there was a group in which two of the members didn't record a single line for the album. It was later revealed they were talking about "GirlFrND" because their manager confirmed it, right after quitting. Only Gayeon's vocals were recorded.
They were called "The Korean Milli-Vanilli" and at the time of their disbandment, in October 2001, they were preparing to release their second album.
Because of that incident, Music Shows became more strict about lipsynced performances.

Because I'm stupid with English, I'll explain it. If you're have 3 members A, B, C out of all their line A, B and C only allowed to use record voice max 30%. Let say their song is 5 minutes long, A got 2 minutes, B and C each 1.5 minutes, with math, 30% of 1.5 minutes is 27seconds. Senior staff on that program quite scarier, because they have more powers than the manager or even the artist, since they can even make "accidental mistake" on music when the group doing live. Those who's question about lypsinc on music program usually are the people who doesn't have any work experience behind the music program 😅

Not 1st gen but the craziest stories I know (aside from the entire Sharp thing bcs what in the entire world was that) was definitely poor Taeyeon from SNSD almost being kidnapped from the stage during a life performance, VIXX kidnapped by a group of kazakhstany because the president's daughter was a fan, TVXQ's Yunho almost being poisoned by a saesang through a bottle of water with superglue in it, Apink having 14 bomb threats during a tour and the fanwar between Armys and Exo-Ls because holy shit
As a first gen fan I wanna add some more facts so here they are-
16. When NRG was first started out as a group (late 1997/early 1998) the group got into a car accident when going to a photo shoot. Luckily none of them suffered injuries but they heard a seeping sound and started rushing out of the van. When Moon Sunghoon was coming out of the vehicle he suddenly yelled that one of his expensive sneakers were left in the car and he went back in for it…He managed to get out safely with his shoe and the seeping sound was from the ruptured tire.
17. Taesaja members Hyungjoon and Youngmin got the most fan letters and another member (Dongyoon) got jealous because of that. He gained more confidence after the amount of letters got more equal as time passed, but in reality their manager had secretly set up SEPARATE LETTER BOXES for the former two. When Hyungjoon and Youngmin shared the story for the first time when the group was on Sugarman in 2020, Dongyoon felt really betrayed and said, "You should've never told me!"
18. SM made a movie for H.O.T. titled “Age of Peace” in 2000 and the full movie is now considered lost media due to how disappointed Lee Sooman was with the outcome of the movie. The most you could find today is the soundtrack and behind the scenes filming.
19. Taesaja's Kim Hyungjoon got a four year scholarship to a prestigious university in Korea and only found out about it after he lost the scholarship due to the fact that he barely attended his lectures.
20. Sechskies' Kim Jaeduck would exaggerate his dancing whenever H.O.T were performing so once when sechskies and H.O.T were at a music show, during Sechskies' performance he moved way too much to the front of the stage (where fireworks were) and burned his clothes, hair and arm hair.

People praise 2nd Gen a lot but hardly give love to the 1st Gen. Now it's repeating with people praising 4th Gen but only praising a few of the 3rd Gen groups.
1st gen isn't famous among international fans and young people
3rd gen isn’t under praised lol, a lot of people prefer 3rd gen groups over 4th gen. The biggest Kpop groups are 3rd gen groups.
@@pix1943 You don't have to read all of this but no, OP is actually right when you think about international success and how tastes turn as the Gens switch. A lot more 4th Gen groups are popular now internationally compared to 3rd Gen for newer fans when looking at the big picture and not just a select few groups. Sure, a small handful 3rd Gen groups are still really celebrated and adored by international fans, but the hype around 4th Gen groups are definitely more prevalent on social media outside of a handful of 3rd Gen super groups whose popularity survived till now - like BTS, EXO, Red Velvet, Blackpink, and a few more. You don't hear many current fans these days talk about groups like Block B, BAP, VIXX, BTOB, Boys Republic, Fiestar, AOA, NU'EST, etc. despite them all actually being quite well known during 3rd Gen. Now groups like IVE, New Jeans, Stray Kids, The Boyz, ATEEZ, ONEUS, NMIXX, Cravity, Billie, Xdinary Heroes, etc. are at the front of newer fans lists. It's only natural as the Gen turns that newer fans will be most drawn to the modern music first. Similar to how BIGBANG was massive and one of the most popular for 2nd Gen groups, but now 4th Gen fans don't really know their music now. It's bound to happen as time passes by and it doesn't take away from that group's legacy at all. OP isn't saying that Gen 3 isn't big or successful, but rather that newer fans look more often to 4th Gen groups since 3rd Gen don't promote as much as they used to and their music flavor is different from 4th Gen groups.

This is a message for new K-Pop fans, no matter how much you want to point out or express love only for your biases, you should be thanking the 1st Generation idols for sacrificing their lives not only for fame and popularity during the time when there was no social media and global outreach, they were the ones that began the K-Pop wave which all started from the bottom in South Korea attracting attention among youths and the struggles that they have to face to get to the level of Fame that they have now, these were the FIRST idols whom would pioneer and pave the way for the next generation of groups to come. Some of these 1st generation K-Pop groups like H.O.T and BoA for example started gaining popularity in other countries in nearby China and Japan and that was the earliest trend of the Hallyu Korean wave going on. And then came the 2nd Generation idols whom paved the way for K-pop to attract global attention all across Asia outside China and Japan and gaining popularity in parts of Europe and certain communities in America. So in conclusion, these earlier idols that you are standing right now, are the idols of your idols. Without them, K-Pop would not exist or even become global right now.
No, I get what you're saying, but no... kpop was started because of black American culture. Idols like cl and many many others have admitted this. There's no denying the amount of influence black people have had on and in kpop.
As much as I think it's awesome to admire the struggles of the first idols and all they broke barriers, the whole idea of "you should thank them cause everything you achieved today is because of them and only them" gets super old and annoying after some point. Because then it begs the question - does that mean new idols did not achieve ANYTHING on their own? So does that mean any award or any batch of honour they receive today, old idols always need to be thanked for them? Always?
Everyone struggled and struggles. Struggles definitely opened up a path for new idols and gave them more opportunities and it's very important to humbly respect that as new idols and fans of new idols but, I don't think you should ALWAYS account the new idols' current success to the old one.
You shouldn't hate on anyone, which is sadly easier said than done but you also shouldn't forget the efforts the new and as well as old idols put. You don't have to connect everything all the time but yeah, being respectful does not cost a lot.
Also, the other person mentioning k-pop became what it did due to the black community music - that's music everywhere honestly. It's good to know your root of influence but again, k-pop has become its own thing now regardless of how much it's influenced by different genres of music. Besides, what isn't influenced by something else in POP music? Has Pop music ever been original anywhere?
Some might say Japan is different but japan was also influenced by other music genres and they decided to make it their own in their own way.
Everything is influenced by everything. And it's good if you respect that. It's good that you remember that. It's good that you stay humble thinking about it. But it does not need to be thunk about all the time.

@@notgoodatonlinenames9943 Sis Kpop was NOT started black music/culture but INFLUENCED black music/culture. Some of the groups in 1st gen did have R&B and hip hop songs but most of the top songs of that era were techno, dance, and bubble gum pop. They even had a heavy rock era.
@@lovenala1987 I totally agree and would add that, although it's true that they paved the way in some ways, they were not "sacrificing their lives" for the idols that would come after them as it was implied, they made certain sacrifices they had to in order to achieve their own dreams, same as everyone else. It's great to aknowledge them, but thanking them as if no one else would ever be out there chasing their own dreams and opening up new paths in the process might be a little too much. Everyone who came after them gave their own contributions to the industry and culture.

-Lots of H.O.T fans hated BoA when she did her debut because they sais she was "using their oppa's money" (ignoring the fact that S.E.S was also bringing in tons of money at that point).
-Baby V.O.X did their own hair and makeup for a long time, cause DSP is crap (love these girls, they've been through a lot and their songs are bangers).
-Not a scandal, but Kim Dongwan from Shinhwa really knows how to kill the mood at fan events. He said that during a performance, he saw fans crying and screaming and Minwoo, another member, kept sort of feeding into the fans' hysteria by staying stuff like "we love you, you are our everything", the Dongwan who couldn't just fake it just said "Shinhwa isn't responsible for your lives", earning him some boos (I think this honesty is super refreshing, cause he's right about that).
I'm sure you can find other sources for these stories, cause these are all at the top of my head, as someone who was actually a Kpop stan during 1st gen! Hopefully that gives you stuff for another video!

one of my mutuals was friends with a sh#rp member in the past. he said that he was very nice but kinda weird, but that one girl in sh#rp was so influential everyone was too scared to speak up despite her bullying, not that it would change anything even if they did speak up. he was one of the male members in the group, he grew out of it and ended up very fulfilled in a new livelihood. he gave my friend some signed albums from junior groups that the he got back when he was still active in the industry, since my friend could definitely appreciate them more now lol. it was nice to know an older idol kept those albums all those years without selling them for money tbh

@@Legionofbees the idols are given no privacy, they’re forced to shower with the other men, and some of them attempt to take pictures to sell to saesangs etc. Taemin had to be transferred to community service because of the stress and his depression. I remember Baekhyun was given a separate room to shower in during his training period to stop people from invading his privacy.

The K'Pop story is totally false. It's true true that Youngwon assaulted Woohyun but they were not dating each other. They also had their respective girlfriends during their career, and the group disbanded in 2005 after their THIRD album due to the members' imminent military service and their contracts expiring. (Bi/pan? Possibly, but I find it rude to speculate on other people's sexual orientation.)

This is something that happens with Japanese idols too. Idols are apparently supposed to present themselves as innocent and pure, and everything they do is for the fans. So, they have to present themselves as a fan's unattainable dating fantasy. Both Japan and Korea have been trying to pass laws and referendums that keep companies from controlling their artist's dating lives, but the culture has been around so long it's hard to actually get rid of.

Just one of the few reasons why TODAY, KPop idols try to hide any dating that they may be doing, because many fans who are in love with them might get offended & break their hearts, whether female or male fans. And it started right there, during 1st gen. It is highly delusional of fans to think that one day their favorite idol might notice them & fall in love with them. The chance of that coming true for fans is about the same chance as anyone winning a national lottery. BTS fans might recall that famous sasaeng who was following Taehyung at the airport with very short shorts & Tae got annoyed & pointed his camera at her. What she was hoping to do was make Tae notice her in an attractive way, but it backfired. I felt sorry for her because she thought she would get noticed & deluded that maybe Tae & her could possibly become romantic. Remember folks, all of these idols, or any single celebrity around the world, exist because this is first & foremost a business. They are there to take your money, otherwise these idol groups would not survive long term. Any fan who gets shocked, sad & leave the fandom, because they discovered actual dating by an idol, is one less source of potential profits for that music label & for the pockets of the idols themselves.

The girl with short shorts (no pants) just wanted to get his attention, she wasn't even using a camera & just kept walking beside him, she tried to wave at him but he didn't see it. She actually looks pretty & she could even be in a KPop group. Some of her replies to army can be found online & some of it were angry comments defending herself. The one where Tae points his phone was a different incident & he had blonde hair in that one. This kind of fan behavior is subconscious & sometimes uncontrollable. It's really all about natural organic biological sexual attraction.They are very hyped & excited to be close to the person who is famous & sexually attracted to. They just happened to be at a higher level of excitement than other fans. But they are also probably somewhat lonely souls. This has been going on since the days when Frank Sinatra & later on, Elvis Presley, etc, were teen idols of their day. And of course, the Beatles, the first most famous idol group known to have had a worldwide size of screaming fans. And probably long before them, like during the time of Rudolph Valentino, who made women faint at his movies, in the early 20th century. And this will continue with future heart throbs, yet to be born, long after BTS & current ARMY are long gone from this Earth too, in the same way as Sinatra, Rudolph, Elvis & half the Beatles are gone.
