    The bright side to the original foot brake it is the most reliable brake that there is. It will never fail. I used a band brake in the 70s on my first minibike and it works great unless the chain comes off or the cable gets pulled through the clamp.

    I'm an old mechanic and have just completed converting a Razor kids kart to gas,
    Ive been going round and round in my head about what brake system I was going to fabricate, Drum/disc hydraulic/cable
    Tonight Im thinking can't I just use my hot clutch as a brake drum? (As I'm very limited on space)
    Then I find this very kit on Amazon for 60 bucks and has deformed parts,
    So I'm ordering a 4" brake band for 10 bucks and fabricating the brackets, I already have the rest,
    I will use the leftover 40 bucks on alcohol...

    And that just seems like it would burn the clutch up not to mention it would be really hard on the crank seal and everything literally connected to the clutch. I mean how did it work when you were done? I really like the idea simple clean and effective I will say that that I mean how harsh was it on the motor and the clutch? I mean I guess it couldn't be too bad if they make a kit for it

    • @RMAGarage
      @RMAGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with the extra stress of the motor and clutch. We do not ride the mini bike much, but if we did, the clutch would definitely wear out faster. As far as the engine seal, only time will tell. The brake is capable of locking up the rear wheel so it is very affective. thanks for the comment.

    • @BRZ_BOY
      @BRZ_BOY ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The clutch bell is only engaged when on power. So when braking the force is only going into the sprocket and chain. If you were on power and braking it would go into the engine.

    • @RMAGarage

      to be honest, I don't know 100%. We have had our pretty fast and the brake is more than capable. I would say yes at the this point. It most definatly will be better on the rear tire. Not as much wear from the scrub brake. Also we left our scrub brake on as a back up. If the chain comes off, no brakes.
