    This is s car I would buy to own. Its easily the best looking. While the M340i and S4 is more expensive similarly equipped and quicker in a straight line I'd rather the styling and handling of this car. The only car I would buy over this is the CT4-V Blackwing.

      There's maybe $5k difference for a basically loaded M340i xdrive. other than styling which is a personal preference, there's not one category that the type-S is better at. M340 is a lot quicker and faster, handles better, and has a bigger interior space for the rear passenger space. Not to mention the G20 chassi doesn't need that stupid brace in the trunk pass-through that takes away ability to fully use the space when seats are folded.

      @@DanLizot lol no it is not. M340i xdrive is $68925 including destination with driver assistance pro, premium pkg, shadow line, parking assistance, and M adaptive suspension. essentially all the same feature in the type-S at $63279 as tested in this video. That's $5700 difference. If you just get the RWD M340i, that's only $3700 difference between it and the type-S. where the hell are you pulling out $10k with no option from??? lmao. this is also without mentioning the discount you can get on M340 vs the markup Acura dealership still charges for the type-S.

    I'm glad that you said that. My 2019 TLX A-SPEC with SH-AWD is a blast to drive in manual "Sport Plus" mode, on the smooth state, twisty hill country highways in southwest Arkansas...risers, dips, sharp 80 degree curves with 15 degree banking...WoW! I also have a 2024 TLX A-SPEC. (It only now comes with SH-AWD.) So far, a very fun-to-drive car and quicker than one might think. I had it in Arkansas this past July but didn't get a chance to do much of any spirited driving on those aforementioned roadways and it doesn't have the separate sport plus mode like the current Type S or the first generation TLX equipped with the 3.5 liter V-6, but it does have a combination "D/S" (Drive mode and Sport) mode in on the transmission selector button. I think the button on the transmission is the same on the Type S but THAT model actually displays as "Sport Plus" on the dash board, just like the first generation V-6. Depending on the driver's choice , the push of the drive transmission selector button, the 2nd generation A-SPEC displays an "S" or "D" on the dash gauge cluster.
    The 4 cylinder doesn't at all sound throaty like either the 3.5 liter V-6 or the Turbo V-6. My wife's ILX with it's 2.4 liter sounds throatier than the 2.0 liter in my 2024 TLX. Whatever...All I know is that they're fun to drive!

      Yeah not producing because nobody buys them. Needs a touch screen

  • @virgilwyatt4632
    @virgilwyatt4632 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

    (This response is) For the Naysayers:
    I hate touch screens. They soon develop touch area "wear" points and they are permanent . I clean mine in my 2019 A-SPEC SH-AWD just using a micro fiber cloth. The spots just won't come out. In my 2024 A-SPEC (Urban Gray), that screen, with the exception of dust on it, is clean!
    Both cars have major differences in character. That long hood tremendously helps with forward vision because it allows for the A-Pillars to allow for a more sloped design over the first generation TLX. I'm 6'1" and I can tell you the forward vision is more obstructed in the 1st generation because the dashboard sits a little higher, feeling a bit claustrophobic in comparison.
    I have the 4 cylinder turbo and it feels light as heck when you compare it to my 2019 V-6. I thought the front end would be a little too light compared to my 2019 but it's "weighted " steering at freeway speeds more than prove capable of handling at speeds well above posted rural interstate speed limits. I wanted the 2024 Type S but those vehicles are too hard to find. I've happily settled for the 2024 A-SPEC! It's Urban Gray over charcoal/black. When I purchased mine, it was the only one on the lot. And before that one arrived on the lot, the only one at the dealership was the pearl white over red/black. You don't see these cars on the road in Metro Detroit, so they stand out. I would never have purchased an Intergra over this vehicle. I had a 1996 Integra 2 door hatchback and it served me well (with 2 kids) but when I had opportunity, I traded it for a new 2003 CL Type S with the 6 speed manual, of which I still drive today. That one has the best forward vision and peripheral vision of the 3. The back seat in my 2024 TLX has plenty of rear seat room, especially for a car that has a drive shaft and rear differential and is supposed to be a sport sedan, NOT a family sedan. Besides, my wife and I don't ride in the back seat....so we don't care. Otherwise, I'd a bought a Toyota Camry, or Honda Accord.
    Also, Acura built this sedan from the ground up as all new. I wasn't a re-skinned generation one TLX nor an Accord. The 2nd gen TLX has a totally different front suspension. Acura returned the Double Wishbone suspension, the same as what ALL Acura & Hondas used to have before Honda went on a cost cutting binge and replaced those Formula One and IndyCar inspired suspensions with cheaper MacPherson Struts.
    The TLX was designed for the enthusiast driver in mind and since about only 2% of drivers are enthusiasts drivers, this vehicle is not for everyone. The NSX is not for me. I can't afford it and I don't fit in it. If I could have, I would have; to including would have purchased it over a Corvette C8, of which I don't fit in either. So, I would have happily settled for a Camaro.
    There are other sport sedans that are are "lighter" in weight and faster to 60 mph by a second. I don't care about that. Physics proves two things: 60 mph is 60 mph. There is no difference. And slow and steady wins race....of longevity. If you get places too fast too often, you're gonna miss some things. And I don't believe most drivers, even of sport sedans race other sport sedans on a daily basis. For one thing, it's too costly. I don't race. And non enthusiast drivers simply don't care about THOSE statistics. So when you folks out there arrive at the finish line faster than that of the TLX Type S, tell me: what prize did you receive? What was the monetary amount you received? Answer: A hefty bill for some summer tires and a wrecked front diffuser or worse.
    Just because a person has power, does not mean the person can control it. Abuse of power and lack of respect for it will consume the user.
    P.S: Get a set of driving gloves. You're gonna want them for this Type (S) of a car.

    • @virgilwyatt4632
      @virgilwyatt4632 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FrankW1029 No. I don't like touch screens in automobiles, period. As the former owner of a 2010 Acura TL with SH-AWD 6MT, I can tell you the rotary dial that controlled the one single center console screen was better than the touch screen set up in my 2019 TLX and my wife's 2022 ILX. Instead of a lower touch screen/upper non-touch screen set up, the 2010's rotary dial along with PHYSICAL BUTTONS allowed for tactile contact that touch screens cannot even compare to. The set up in my 2010 allowed for setting a destination without having to pull over to a complete stop to set it. The HVAC controls were all physical buttons. I can't tell you how many times I've mistakenly touched a function I didn't mean to while driving or how many times the sun was so bright that you could not see the function, even while not moving like being paused at a traffic light.
      Touch screens only became popular because of the pop culture surrounding smart phones.
      My 2024 corrected the 2019's shortcomings. It's a single screen set up and it's controlled REMOTELY by a touch pad. It takes a little getting used to but once you do, it makes sense as to why Acura remoted the screen control. Also, the HVAC controls have been returned to physical buttons.
      Touch screens in vehicles are childish. Children's toys have for years, had touch screens. They may be okay for toys, but not for vehicles. They are a proven distraction while driving. Drivers, including myself, have taken their eyes off the road while driving for a few seconds too; many while trying to adjust controls on a vehicle's touchscreen. Those seconds lead to crashes, up to and including fatal. And then, there's the idiot that just has to handle a smart phone while driving. "If you can afford a smart phone, then you can afford a BlueTooth device! " is what I want to say to these people .
      Besides, I wouldn't want my gem of an Acura with fingerprints on the screen only to keep wiping it clean of them.

    Awesome car and yes most Honda/Acura products get unappreciated and underrated by people who really don't know what they are talking about. They complain about weight of nsx and others not realizing it's for increased safety while giving better visibility and rigidity. Or reason for less rear space in TLX is less because of amazing engineering of rear mechanical suspension systems unlike others. Or that less horsepower than competitors for better reliability by not maximize output meaning 272 horsepower rating could be 320 horsepower rating and 320 horsepower could be 370 horsepower and 355 horsepower for type S could be maximized 455 horsepower but all are tuned for reliability not instantly a sensation but always have issues. Another thing is cost that most forget is Acura is only for Americans made for Americans by Americans which means expensive labour and unions costs makes Acura products expensive and quality is still less than Japan who live by reputation so do better job for reputation not just for high wages. And job protection even for bad employees

    Forget about the MSRP, it’s irrelevant as soon as you drive off the lot.
    As a used car, it will cost less to own compared to the Germans, that’s why you buy this car. It’s not Honda accord cheap, but way less to own compared to German.
    For $45k, out of warranty, used, it’s probably the lowest cost to own with this performance compared to the competition.

    As a current Acura owner, I can tell you good luck getting one. Acura is having production issues on these as they revamp their line that they apparently make these, the Integra, and the Accord on. I’m not sure why Acura is so heavily promoting these to car reviewers. My dealer has none and only some leftover non Type S’s from 2024. Just more conquest sales for Tesla. I’ve thought about getting one of these myself, but I’ve owned a BMW M340 and for a little more the M340 is so much more buttoned up. Even the gas mileage is so much better. Going back to Tesla, I think I’d save some money and buy a Model 3 Performance.

    I Have this vehicle, and I can tell you for a fact that it is underpowered! This needs 400HP at a minimum, and twin-turbos. I have a 2020 Explorer ST and a 2024 Ranger Raptor, both 400HP twin-turbo trucks, and they're both much faster than my TLX Type-S. It should be the other way around! There is also severe turbo lag. I can mash the accelerator pedal to the floor, and this car takes a good minute to figure out what it's supposed to do, before it starts to do it! The turbo takes some time to spool up, and that SUCKS big time! In Sport+ this car drives as it should, but then becomes too aggressive when you encounter stop and go traffic. Heated steering wheel as an option is ridiculous at this price point! The unusable rear seat is another joke! I can barely sit my work backpack and lunch bag behind me. My 2021 Honda Accord had enough legroom to sit my 6'4" stocky frame with no issue behind the drivers seat adjusted for myself. However, at the end of the day this is a nice driving vehicle. I have aftermarket 21-inch staggered wheels on it, and I get compliments all the time!
