I may not be an expert at zelda games but I would think *EDIT* I AM CERTAIN WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT (I'm pushing 1000 hours total play time across various monster hunter games now, trust me) *END EDIT* that monster hunter's combat is far deeper, due to the small fact the entire game revolves around it! Nevertheless I do like zelda games...just a shame I'm not very good at them. Also, glad to know I'm not the only one who called it the sabertooth snow dragon :D
6:45 The Zinogre isn't a Super Saiyan... But the Rajang... That thing LITERALLY turns Super Saiyan! I'm serious, golden fur, electric aura, increased power... Heck it even uses the Spirit Bomb sometimes! But what if it's a Golden Great Ape? Maybe if you cut it's tail off it'll turn into a Saiyan again...

It's mandatory to try to use the Dragonator in every single quest it's available. Except against the Dire Miralis... Because I use a Lance against him, so I get a much higher damage output by simply poking it non-stop. Besides, I could simply go for the loophole of saying that I AM THE DRAGONATOR!

The satisfaction that comes with taking down the Elder Dragons for the first time is indescribable. I don't hate underwater battles and am sorry to see them gone for the next game. I think my favorite monster to take down on my own is Deviljho. I'm a Hunting Horn user, so I cheat a little by giving myself the Tremor Resistance buff with the Aria Magica Horn. Makes it even more satisfying taking it down with a "magical girl staff." XP My favorite, favorite, favorite to take down while playing online with a good team is Hallowed Jhen Mohran. The armor set from that is my badge of honor. :P Monster Hunter rocks my socks!
I can agree with you. When I and a team of nobodies at the time beat the Hallowed Jhen Mohran, it was a truly liberating moment once it finally ceased to move.

I remember the "guts mission in tri" it was the most thrilling and terrifying moment in my gaming history. I collected all the guts and I remember looking at my friend sitting in the fair next to me giving me a nod. I remember I chugged a whole can of ultra blue monster sharpened my great sword and dove into the water. I t took me nearly the entire quest time of a frantically sharpening my weapon, drinking all my mega/ regular potions, and eating so many adamant and might seeds that my character probably had to see a dentist to finally kill the flagship boss with my mood gear... Then I was so mad that as I carved I had only gotten duplicates of lagiacrus scale.
Barbara Hart Cha Cha is THA MAN!!! I bring Cha Cha and Kayamba with me on quests, at the moment with the cat mask that allows you to get rare items from him, and the ancient mask that makes Kayamba a BADASS! They also are both equipped with Slime, as am I, and they often get critical hits that break parts and stun whatever creature I’m hunting, while I heal and sharpen up in between the fight sequences. This is especially useful against a hard combo like Ratholos with a Deviljho thrown in, during which 50 minutes is a TIGHT schedule to finish off both! I use traps and the ability to know when they’re ready to be trapped, which ends the fight early, and STILL, it helps to have two level 50 chum chum maxed helpers to kick ass along with me! LOVE Cha Cha! He’s THA MAN!!! Currently, the Melynx mask (I think) is a level 5, so I can get TONS of rare items (wouldn’t use any other mask now that it’s leveled up!) and I also equipped Fast Recovery along with the Slime Power, so he comes back quickly after getting killed... OFTEN with this mask. And the Ancient Mask is a level 3 so far (I switch this one up for bunny ears on village hunts, and I’m trying to level up other alternatives, so it’s only level 3 as of the other day), so he just gets Slime Power. Perhaps the most useful BY FAR part of having two companions is that the monster isn’t always targeting YOU! Try doing a solo quest without your tater tot companions, and see how much you get WRECKED! Especially by monsters like the Deviljho and the Ivory Legiacrus! Without an alternative NPC to target, you will get WRECKED! Or you’ll waste time running in circles to avoid taking gratuitous damage! I have NEVER played online (by the time I bought the game, the server was down), so I’m used to playing solo.... only solo.... and those little buddies of mine are getting more BADASS by the day! I’m pretty sure they’re fully leveled up at level 50, maybe I’m wrong, maybe it takes about 100 missions to get from level 50 to level 51, but once their valor, HP, stamina, and defense are leveled up, they’re relatively TOUGH little shits! They’re ESSENTIAL for a late bloomer trying to beat the game alone. GAWD, I WISH I had the ability to go back in time and do multiplayer missions! I’ve never fought the “Dire Moralis”, as I believe it’s called, the Alatreon was hard enough! He seems like a WAAAY harder version of the Alatreon! I couldn’t do multiplayer quests though! (Someone PLEEEAAASE get Capcom’s permission to host an official MH3U online mode again! That’d be a MONEYMAKER! I know MAAAAD people still play, judging by the wealth of content plus the consensus among MANY players that this is the best iteration ever made!) BTW, I’d LOVE to play the new PS4 version JUST for the fact that the graphics are SIIIIICK! As of right now I play my WiiU the most because there are SOOO MANY GREAT TITLES on this platform! However, I have been told by player videos that MH3U is STILL the best, gameplay-wise, and there are HOURS of quests to do JUST to get to G-Rank, nevermind how IMPOSSIBLY CRAZY the game gets once you get there! (I haven’t gotten there YET, I have HR 5 as of yesterday, but I hope to get there soon, but I will hold off until I have enough resources because it seems that G-Rank is CRAZY HARD! If I was G-Rank at the moment, I’d probably die within five seconds... I NEED better weapons and armor first!

That was a awesome list, great job sir. To me my favorite monster from 3 ultimate is the Zinogre for, well the reasons you cite, being a badass lightning dragon wolf. And on the elder dragon side, well I'll chose the Alatreon for his incredible fight and really cool appearance. And yes, I can't wait for monster hunter 4 ultimate.
Also, thought I'd point something out. Brachydios would be in my top 5 favorite monsters, maybe even the #1 spot, if not for how cheap his rage mode can be in 3U.
You just have to be cautiously aggressive. Try to run and you get destroyed. Try to wail on it and you get destroyed. Play smart and confident, it’s pretty fun
The Friend of Many Squirrels I agree. Once you get used to his rage mode move set and don’t get cocky, he’s doable. I will say I enjoy is calm mode over rage mode though.

And ever since I started recording for Fifth Eye Unplugged, I've had no time to visit the port. How ironic - I stopped hunting when I started having serious trouble with soloing monsters at G rank, but doing the Moga Massacre series got me to take up the sword and shield again. While I saw your "How to Create a Countdown" video, I decided to forego that advice for now and refine my personality online. The logic being that if I cannot put a legitimate soul into my work, then the product of even the finest technology is doomed to be second-rate. Best of luck with your future endeavors.

Imagine my reaction when his spiny cousin Dah'ren Mohren is the FIRST monster one winds up battling in 4U. 1: I've never been a fan of water battles, but holy hell does the Lagiacrus look awesome. Just gotta be wary of those FUCKING HIP-CHECKS and maybe I'd do okay against it if I ever got 3U as well. He's in Generations too but only on land so his fearsome sea title doesn't mean as much there, sadly.

I've been a loyal fan and subscriber to Quarterguy for 7-8 years and even after all this time I still like when he covers monster hunter. Hey QG how about a remake of monsters you like and hate to fight? Preferably with Itboben, you both share some vitural hunting scars.
Oh Monster Hunter. I seriously need to start playing this game again. I've been too into fighting games, and too busy with school lately. School is the bigger problem, since this is the type of game that makes a couple hours feel like 5 minutes. And a there's a bit of lack of want to play it, but this list really makes me wanna start playing again. Anyway, this was a very enjoyable list! I personally would have had the Jhen at number 1, but I'm just happy it was as high as it was. I'd go out of my way to fight that thing as often as I could in tri. And I'm glad I wasn't the only one who said the Zinogre went super saiyan when it powered up.

I just completed the monster guts mission last night and I was shaking by the end of it when i got all of the guts I was swimming towards the shore he was right beside me so I thought I could move slowly to not draw his attention I kept saying you don't see me then when I saw the exclamation mark above his head I then screamed fuck you you don't see me over and over I had no idea he was going to crash my party but it felt awesome completing it I can't wait to actually fight him
I played the PSP Monster Hunter a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago, but I remember giving up on it because it got too difficult for me. I've considered trying MH3U for 3DS, but it upsets me greatly that only the Wii U version has online, and with MH4U just around the corner, I figured I can just wait for that to come out.
The psp versions of moster hunter have an insane level of difficulty epicially the unite series i took me for about 1000 hours of playing in order to get better equipment,farm all items,fight all A to G mission (yeah g missions are the worst) I will now wait for the latest monster hunter

Narrowing down my favorite Monster isn't easy, but three in particular I always enjoy fighting are the Barioth, Duramboros, and the Dire Miralis. Jhen Mohran comes in at a very close 4th place. I like Barioth because of the design and environment, Duramboros because of its unique fighting style and Roflcopter, and the Dire Miralis because of the scale, how well it uses the environment in the battle, and that music. Jhen is another case of Scale and epic music, and of course THE DRAGONATOR. I hear there's a monster in MH4U that has A DRAGONATOR on its back. And it looks freaky as hell...
me, though to be fair it isn't hard just save a trap when he limps to area 12 wait let him go to sleep (30 seconds) then go in place the trap kick it's ass (literally) and then lure it and use tranq bombs to finish
I first saw this list before getting into MH, but now... Thank you Quarter Guy for subjecting me to 150+ hours of kickass-ness (If that's even a word.) My favorite monster is Ceadeus with Zinogre and Agnaktor tied at a close second.

Rathian and Rathalos are the perfect exemple of à well balanced dificulty, there attacks can be punishing if you re not careful but not à big deal if you stay constantly moving and you attack at the right moment( and this is the same for all their rivals like seregios, tigrex or astalos)They are neither too easy nor too hard . Unless you spam flash pods or use the op insect glaive
Over 3000 hours and I didn't know you could remove Zinogre's charge with Fulgurbug catching. Then again I always went for the free hits. You get enough Fulgurbugs from the quest rewards.
My top 5 favorites from 3 and 4: Keep in mind, I havent beaten either one. 3: (Gotten to rank 8 in the village quests, havent touched the online.) 5. Rathalos (after the first fight) 4. Rathian/Pink Rathian 3. Ceadeus 2. Barioth 1. Jhen Mohran 4: (I have beaten the Shagaru Magala, and am at HR5). 5. Congala (I just really like it. Idk why) 4. Zamtrios 3. Gore Magala 2. The spider monster... forgot how to spell it. 1. Shagaru Magala. UPDATE: I'm Rank 9 in the Caravann quests in 4, HR7 online. My new top 5: 5. Deviljho 4. Rajang 3. Gore Magala 2. Nerscylla (I think that's how you spell it. The spider.) 1. Shagaru Magala. Honorable mentions: Teostra, Aknator, Congala, Iodrome/Gendrom, Monoblos Well, I'm at G crown in MH4U... the list hasnt changed.
QG, I plan on maybe buying the Wii U version of Monster Hunter Tri. I originally sold the 3DS version because there was no online and I continuously got more frustrated with bringing down even ONE of the beasts. Any advice to beginners and best armor/weapons for beginners as well?
I'd recommend using Barroth for Low Rank. As for weapons, just use whatever you're comfortable with. (Although I'd recommend using a Hammer if you plan on getting said armor)
The Ceadeus armour used to be my favorite armor set just because how it was desined. Also because, y'know, because it's the first Elder Dragon you kill. But then... then... I saw how a full set of Brachydios armour looked (my bad if I spelled that wrong). "HOLY COW IMA LOOK LIKE A MEGAZORD" was my exact reaction. Not to mention it's armour rating and skill tree are actually pretty good if you use it right. Shame I can't play anymore because my dog chewed up my copy of MH3U. And I was stupid enough to put it in my 3DS to see if it still worked. Now I can't even play SSB :(. BUT HOLY COW THAT ARMOUR SET.

Perhaps the most useful BY FAR part of having two companions is that the monster isn’t always targeting YOU! Try doing a solo quest without your tater tot companions, and see how much you get WRECKED! Especially by monsters like the Deviljho and the Ivory Legiacrus! Without an alternative NPC to target, you will get WRECKED! Or you’ll waste time running in circles to avoid taking gratuitous damage! I have NEVER played online (by the time I bought the game, the server was down), so I’m used to playing solo.... only solo.... and those little buddies of mine are getting more BADASS by the day! I’m pretty sure they’re fully leveled up at level 50, maybe I’m wrong, maybe it takes about 100 missions to get from level 50 to level 51, but once their valor, HP, stamina, and defense are leveled up, they’re relatively TOUGH little shits! They’re ESSENTIAL for a late bloomer trying to beat the game alone. GAWD, I WISH I had the ability to go back in time and do multiplayer missions! I’ve never fought the “Dire Moralis”, as I believe it’s called, the Alatreon was hard enough! He seems like a WAAAY harder version of the Alatreon! I couldn’t do multiplayer quests though! (Someone PLEEEAAASE get Capcom’s permission to host an official MH3U online mode again! That’d be a MONEYMAKER! I know MAAAAD people still play, judging by the wealth of content plus the consensus among MANY players that this is the best iteration ever made!) BTW, I’d LOVE to play the new PS4 version JUST for the fact that the graphics are SIIIIICK! As of right now I play my WiiU the most because there are SOOO MANY GREAT TITLES on this platform! However, I have been told by player videos that MH3U is STILL the best, gameplay-wise, and there are HOURS of quests to do JUST to get to G-Rank, nevermind how IMPOSSIBLY CRAZY the game gets once you get there! (I haven’t gotten there YET, I have HR 5 as of yesterday, but I hope to get there soon, but I will hold off until I have enough resources because it seems that G-Rank is CRAZY HARD! If I was G-Rank at the moment, I’d probably die within five seconds... I NEED better weapons and armor first!

To me my favorite monster from 3 ultimate is the Zinogre for, well the reasons you cite, being a badass lightning dragon wolf.
And on the elder dragon side, well I'll chose the Alatreon for his incredible fight and really cool appearance.

Brachydios would be in my top 5 favorite monsters, maybe even the #1 spot, if not for how cheap his rage mode can be in 3U.
You just have to be cautiously aggressive. Try to run and you get destroyed. Try to wail on it and you get destroyed. Play smart and confident, it’s pretty fun
The Friend of Many Squirrels I agree. Once you get used to his rage mode move set and don’t get cocky, he’s doable. I will say I enjoy is calm mode over rage mode though.
I went from HR7 to HR32 after defeating the Dire Miralis, it was great.

I never faced the Miralis in 3U but when I finally defeated the Dalamadur in 4U, I went from HR7 to HR103!

Hey, Adam. Glad to see you came through with this, and I can understand your choice of placement. Shame I never see you when I dare to visit the online ports. And ever since I started recording for Fifth Eye Unplugged, I've had no time to visit the port. How ironic - I stopped hunting when I started having serious trouble with soloing monsters at G rank, but doing the Moga Massacre series got me to take up the sword and shield again.
While I saw your "How to Create a Countdown" video, I decided to forego that advice for now and refine my personality online. The logic being that if I cannot put a legitimate soul into my work, then the product of even the finest technology is doomed to be second-rate.

You can actually see how much damage the ship takes, open the menu and go into quest info, and it's tell you what state the ship is in, the health goes from normal -> low -> warning -> danger, before being destroyed

Oh Monster Hunter. I seriously need to start playing this game again. I've been too into fighting games, and too busy with school lately. School is the bigger problem, since this is the type of game that makes a couple hours feel like 5 minutes. And a there's a bit of lack of want to play it, but this list really makes me wanna start playing again. Anyway, this was a very enjoyable list! I personally would have had the Jhen at number 1, but I'm just happy it was as high as it was. I'd go out of my way to fight that thing as often as I could in tri. And I'm glad I wasn't the only one who said the Zinogre went super saiyan when it powered up.

I just completed the monster guts mission last night and I was shaking by the end of it when i got all of the guts I was swimming towards the shore he was right beside me so I thought I could move slowly to not draw his attention I kept saying you don't see me then when I saw the exclamation mark above his head I then screamed fuck you you don't see me over and over I had no idea he was going to crash my party but it felt awesome completing it I can't wait to actually fight him

I played the PSP Monster Hunter a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago, but I remember giving up on it because it got too difficult for me. I've considered trying MH3U for 3DS, but it upsets me greatly that only the Wii U version has online, and with MH4U just around the corner, I figured I can just wait for that to come out.
The psp versions of moster hunter have an insane level of difficulty epicially the unite series i took me for about 1000 hours of playing in order to get better equipment,farm all items,fight all A to G mission (yeah g missions are the worst)

Narrowing down my favorite Monster isn't easy, but three in particular I always enjoy fighting are the Barioth, Duramboros, and the Dire Miralis. Jhen Mohran comes in at a very close 4th place. I like Barioth because of the design and environment, Duramboros because of its unique fighting style and Roflcopter, and the Dire Miralis because of the scale, how well it uses the environment in the battle, and that music. Jhen is another case of Scale and epic music, and of course THE DRAGONATOR. I hear there's a monster in MH4U that has A DRAGONATOR on its back. And it looks freaky as hell...

me, though to be fair it isn't hard just save a trap when he limps to area 12 wait let him go to sleep (30 seconds) then go in place the trap kick it's ass (literally) and then lure it and use tranq bombs to finish

Rathian and Rathalos are the perfect exemple of à well balanced dificulty, there attacks can be punishing if you re not careful but not à big deal if you stay constantly moving and you attack at the right moment( and this is the same for all their rivals like seregios, tigrex or astalos)They are neither too easy nor too hard . Unless you spam flash pods or use the op insect glaive

Over 3000 hours and I didn't know you could remove Zinogre's charge with Fulgurbug catching. Then again I always went for the free hits. You get enough Fulgurbugs from the quest rewards.

QG, I plan on maybe buying the Wii U version of Monster Hunter Tri. I originally sold the 3DS version because there was no online and I continuously got more frustrated with bringing down even ONE of the beasts. Any advice to beginners and best armor/weapons for beginners as well?
I'd recommend using Barroth for Low Rank. As for weapons, just use whatever you're comfortable with. (Although I'd recommend using a Hammer if you plan on getting said armor)
@7:03 You can use an emulator, so no excuses. There is an English patch out there, so no need to not playing it.
The Ceadeus armour used to be my favorite armor set just because how it was desined. Also because, y'know, because it's the first Elder Dragon you kill. But then... then... I saw how a full set of Brachydios armour looked (my bad if I spelled that wrong). "HOLY COW IMA LOOK LIKE A MEGAZORD" was my exact reaction. Not to mention it's armour rating and skill tree are actually pretty good if you use it right. Shame I can't play anymore because my dog chewed up my copy of MH3U. And I was stupid enough to put it in my 3DS to see if it still worked. Now I can't even play SSB :(. BUT HOLY COW THAT ARMOUR SET.
