These machines are beasts. 8+ years of use and I'm needing to replace CMOS for the 2nd time... but I will because it still runs as smooth as the day I got it. Thanks for the video!
Thank you so much for this!!! We were planning to give my husband’s old alpha to our son for his birthday this Saturday and were crushed when it wouldn’t boot and gave us the five blinking lights. Spent the $8 for a new battery and it’s booting up as we speak!!
Great video. Was struggling and stressing afterwards. I still had the yellow flashing lights. Wait a couple minutes after plugging everything in. Works like a charm. Thanks A Lot!!!
i was having an issue after reinstalling the battery and attempting to boot where i would hold the f12 key and it would still give me the flashing yellow power button. i disconnected the psu, held the power button 30 seconds to do the battery drain thing, and then i reconnected the psu _and_ connected the keyboard to the rear usb instead of the front. after this i was able to f12 my way into the boot menu, im not sure if it was the battery drain or the keyboard slot change that did the job, but i figured i should mention it.
I miss these hands on repair/trouble shooting vids. Depending on what the replacement battery cost, might have saved a bit by just hacking in a new 2032 coin cell in to the harness.
I actually had speech therapy to fix my S sound for many years. My speech teacher in 4th grade used a straw to help. Before that I sounded like daffy duck. I saw her in 8th grade and said remember me? "Ssssssss" her reaction was priceless.
If you're good with wiring, you can reuse the connector from the old battery. Cut the wires and splice it to the wiring for the new battery. Wrap it with shrink tubing or electrical tape.
Thank you for this Video mu bro gave me his old alpha i was going fo repurpose it. Upgraded the cpu/ram a ssd. Installed Zorin OS 17 and it was actually working great this morning the orange blinking 😱
@@valentinbarinov The alpha (all the models) shipped with defective Bios EEPROM chips, over time they become progressively more corrupted, only surefire way to fix them permanently(presumably) is to have the eeprom chip replaced with a new one with a good bios dump on it.
Test 3v battery if its under 2v then replace it. If PC flashing yellow 5 times still then unplug battery again wait 20min and hold power button to discharge circuit. be sure new battery compatible, then assemble pc, press power then at bootup keep pressing f12 to enter bios then just save and exit. 👍
Just reuse the connector from the old battery. Cut the wires and connector off the old battery, then splice it to the wiring for the new battery. Wrap it with shrink tubing or electrical tape.
Hi I'm a 13 year old boy at the part where you start removing the front cover and back cover and after I removed the 4 screws in the holes I've just given up😢
you need to update your description. it’s the wrong battery size. i have ordered it twice and the pin is bigger than the original one and won’t plug in. bad job.
Thanks for amazing walk-through video, however, i have the same problem. the link you provided got me a "thicker" connector. The one alienware comes with is flatter. Is your alienware alpha R1 or R2. If you look closely, you will see the connector is "thicker" on amazon link you provided. Please shed a light on it for us. Thanks again for great tutorial@@TampaTec
Works!!!!! U awesome man, thank you
Congrats fixing your PC 👍

@@VuongTran-tn7bx was just almost about to throw it away after seeing this going to go test again
Thanks very much for this! I'm using mine for the same thing you are, so I ordered the extra memory as well.

Omg you are a lifesaver! this worked for me! Would not get past the blinking yellow light. Followed your instructions and I'm finally back in. Thanks!
Saved me too dude!
Thanks I thought i broke it putting it back together
Thanks
Nice job on the repair. They really buried the battery in that one.
I like to see a video on how you set that up on the legend pinball machine. Because I was thinking on doing that aswell.
I just had this happen to one of my Alphas as well. Nice video
I miss these hands on repair/trouble shooting vids. Depending on what the replacement battery cost, might have saved a bit by just hacking in a new 2032 coin cell in to the harness.
I did it that way. Pried the contacts off the old battery, flattened them, and taped them back on. Covered with heat shrink tubing.
The battery you had linked in your description doesn't fit my alienware alpha, the connectors are different and I just wasted my money
same with me
I use your videos for asmr. The way you pronounce "S" is just perfect 👌

@@TampaTec Omg! So crazy. I know older video but I had to take afterschool program for my Rs and Ss. Sucked. But definitely helped
One thing you need to make sure that the polarity is correct from the old battery to the new battery or else you will have a fun day.
No Sh!t, genius. Of course polarity matters, just like any other battery on the planet. Tell us something that isn't obvious.
I ordered the battery you linked and it does not fit at all not sure if you have a newer model alpha or what

Can someone help with the right link bc the one in the description isn’t right
Thanks for the directions in fixing the PC. 👍
I followed his link and it ended up giving me the wrong battery, thicker plug than the one in my steammachine
same with me I need the smaller port
What model is your alienware alpha? Please
Very good. I liked it 👍

CMOS betteries aren't the rechargeable type, so if you're in there just replace it... Desktops and lots of laptops use the CR2032 type...
How did you hook up the back glass monitor to the Alpha? I know mine has one HDMI out, and one HDMI in.
Thanks! Very much help.
will this work for the Alienware Alpha i3 model
@@casperghost7182 yes, but battery might be different part # .
It works and the lights aren’t flashing but I can’t seem to get it to show me the screen with the hdmi, did I do something wrong?
Has anyone replace the battery and still noting is happening

Thank u , that fixed it
Thanks for linking the wrong battery in the description the damn connector is double the size

ask your dad

There is no reason to wait 20 minutes before plugging in the new battery.

Thanks man
