Love this video. Thank you for going to AME. Dylan’s 2 hour confession is available online. It’s really interesting how he rationalized his atrocity.

I live in South Carolina and there are four types of greens. The greens are collard, mustard, turnip and spinach. Charleston is one of my favorite city it's relaxing with the beautiful nature and friendly people.

I usually go to Charleston for a tennis tournament in the 1st week of April but there's also a big road race in town the first Saturday so it's hard to get around and sight-see. But I saw your video last year and was determined to see some of the same places you saw so thanks for the inspiration. I can't believe that "Mart" sold humans. I don't even know what to say about it. When you think of a "Mart" you think of Slurpees, ice and Big Gulps - or you should. There's no adjective to even put down about that.

I have been to Charleston several times. It is one of the coolest cities I ever visited. It is a photographer's paradise, esp in the spring. Lot of history in Charleston, much we are not proud of. Some have not learned from history. I have pictures of that church.

I've watched most of your travels from the last year, including the most recent in Juneau, Alaska which (along with cities in Hawaii) surely tops my hometown of Charleston in terms of beauty. I'm only now watching the Charleston trip, which was surprisingly grim. I actually walked by the A.M.E. church many times before that horrific 2015 attack. Because the church is on the same block as the Charleston library. Coincidentally, although I lived in Mt. Pleasant, I sold my home and had to stay in hotels (most AirBnB's were booked) for part of the summer before I found a new place. So I stayed a couple of different times at that exact Holiday Inn Express (which is right across from Patriot's Point and the Yorktown aircraft carrier). It was the second favorite hotel I stayed in (after the Cambria which is about ten minutes away). Very clean, great staff, and very large rooms. I don't eat breakfast and never wake in time anyway, so I never had terrible breakfasts to taint my experience there.

That alleyways and houses reminds of Saint Denis from red dead 2. What a beautiful city with such a dark and tragic history.

In Beaufort S.C. the big houses were summer homes used by the plantation owners. Cool breeze off the water. Taxes for the houses was based on how many chimney's the house had.

In 1985 they filmed the TV miniseries North and the South based on the novel by author, John Jakes. I lived in Charleston then so I was able to go watch them film some scenes at like the Calhoun mansion and some of the plantations in Charleston but you mentioned the battery and right there on the battery next to the water is where all the celebrities had their trailers dressing trailers, and there were some big names in that miniseries Taylor Patrick Swayze Kirstie Alley so on so forth you should watch that too.

For the record, there was black men that served in the confederate as well as whites and they’re very proud that they did so that’s why it’s still standing. We don’t get our feelings hurt in South Carolina, this is not California.

I love your channel and this series is SO interesting. I'm following along in order. You missed Columbia, the capital of South Carolina; we were just a little over an hour from Charlotte and Myrtle Beach. We recently just moved to a suburb of Columbia from Illinois; I'm looking forward to your videos from there, especially Chicago,. Keep pumping out these videos; I love them and know I won't be able to see everywhere in the U.S. It's also nice that you stay at normal hotels that most people would stay at and not the fancy, hoity toity. Didn't know the Raleigh museums were mostly free or low cost; Thank you for what you are doing.!

History, is important.None of it should be hidden. Monuments in the South clearly define where I am. Northern monuments do the same. Lafayette is everywhere in CT. No Benedict Arnold😂 I had to watch the series "Turn" to find out more about him.😊

Beautiful buildings in the heart of the city. Was kind sad seeing where the young lad took so many lives, you have to wonder where he learned to be so hateful.

As a Revolutionary War/Civil War buff, I totally want to visit Charleston some day. While learning and honoring the past, we must not LIVE in the past. You face forward or you face the possibility of shock and damage.
