I'm originally from Charleston, and this may be the best Charleston video I have ever seen! Living in Atlanta now but going to see my family next week. I forgot just how beautiful the city is, and I plan to spend some time sightseeing again. Thank you!
Sehr gutes Video mit sehr guten Informationen über Charleston 😀. Ich war 2002,2004,2006 und 2008 in dieser schönen Stadt. Liebe und schöne Grüße aus Ingolstadt /Deutschland 🍀❤️
Like your video very much it’s wonderful things to see every where better than any other video that I been watching in the past the ways you take a video is very professional during the time I am watching it didn’t make me boring because it didn’t look like home video, it look like a movie started at holiwoods thank you for sharing.
Wow, that's the first time I ever watched this video! And I gotta say not only you two are wonderful, but educational also! Keep up the good work on TH-cam, you both are doing great!😁☺️😇 Even though I never visit South Carolina, but it's pretty amusing by the way.
Wow! I played soccer tournaments annually here, I would love to go back and see all that you see in your video that was missed! Such outstanding editing, information, and dialogue!!
Absolutely loved this. We live an hour South of Charleston but rarely get up there, unfortunately. The last time we were there, we had an amazing 40 mile walk around the battery (I might exaggerate a bit) and then an amazing lunch at Fleet. Charleston is amazing. Have you done a Savannah tour? I looked and didn't see it.
Thank you for the great video! It def makes me want to visit. I love the music choices in your video too. Are you guys from Fl too? I noticed the dolphins shirt lol. Tnx again! ❤
On the way to Fort Moultrie there was a sea food restaurant. It looked like an old run down two story house. I haven't been back in several years I wonder if it is still there. It had the best sea food!
Did y'all get to see the oldest liquor store ? Been selling since 1686 back when they were building Charlestown. The roads are uneven like that because downtown was mostly made with landfill:) OG settlement is across the Ashley River and is now a park 'Charlestown Landing' maybe next visit!😊
I live her and born here. Truly is on beautiful city but everyone knows that. Love tourists but they come back to live here. Roads are having problems handling traffic. Nice vid
I am a native Charlestonian! I love my city.. thanks for this video. As to the previous comment.. not everyone who does not live in the city proper lives in a trailer.. plus what is wrong with a trailer? Prejudice alive and well!,
You have your story wrong about Fort Moultrie being the first to fire on Fort Sumter to start the Civil War. The first shot was actuall fired from James Island's, Fort Johnson. There is a historical Plaque at Fort Johnson explaining it as "The shot heard around the world." Fort Moultrie however, was in the Movie "Glory", about the 54th Massachusets Union Regiment, that tried to stop Moultrie from firing on Fort Sumter AFTER Fort Johnson started their attack. If you ever return, You should do a video about Charles Town Landing, in West Ashley, which was the ORIGINAL settlement of what would become Charleston, South Carolina.
WOW! That's super specific! I wouldn't have guessed. 😂 It sounds kind of like a mix of Deep Southern and north Floridian. But I was even thinking that you might be immigrants from Europe who tried to Americanize your native accent 😂
Long time local here, and I'm begging you to skip Hyman's. It's' average at best. There are so many better seafood restaurants, some within a few blocks of Hyman's. Other than that, pretty good video
Come in the summer when the humidity makes it *feel like* temps over 103+, hard to breathe, not to mention the mosquitoes eating you up and you’ll get a reality check. Especially downtown. Finding a bathroom or parking space is almost nil there. Even the beaches that you can’t see from the road because the rich own all the oceanfront property are unbearable with little to no parking and hot sand burning your feet as you trudge out there with all your paraphernalia to get to the water. Live here and that is reality. We gave up going downtown a decade ago due to lack of parking, traffic and narrow one way roads.
If your from anywhere up north skip this area. Baltimore looks nicer. It’s a tourist trap. The entire outskirts of charelston are trailer parks. Beach is 45 minutes away and they charge you $40 to park. Go to nashville, Austin, Santa fe, savannah even pheonix has more of a country vibe. All the store’s found on kings street can be found at your local mall for free. Save your money and time. The market is the only cool spot here.
They don't call it "North Charleston Trailer Trash" for nothing. At one time South Carolina had more trailers per capita than any other state. The beach communities make it as difficult for visitors to visit the beaches as possible. Lived on Trade Street for 12 years. At least they closed the smelly paper plant from what I hear.
@@ryanwalters6184 Like all the lovely starter homes from the early 1980's off of Ashley Phosphate Road? The area around Dorchester Road @ Remount Roads was always so lovely as well as that "little" area of loverly trailer parks between Rivers Avenue and the AFB. Full disclosure, was stationed at JT Base Charleston for 12 long years . The moment I retired, I high tailed it to Las Vegas. Everything is legal here and few Bible Thumpers, Linsey (I have a few stories to tell about him) Graham. One presumes that Charlie Hall, the TEE VEE weatherman is giving the weather report from Heaven?
It's because of the renovations that started at 99-101 East Bay street in the 1920s and 30s. Charleston was badly economically depressed and our historic architecture was falling apart. Charleston's only female realtor at the time, Sue Pringle French, had the foresight to rescue the dilapidated historic buildings from demolition which was slated to happen in 1920. She restored the Georgian architectural facades and painted them bright pastel colors in honor of our trade relationship with the Carribean. Other owners of adjacent buildings on East Bay soon followed suit, hence the name Rainbow Row. This renovation was the spark that rejuvenated Charleston and proved the concept of the city as something worth preserving. Today we're known as the best-preserved city in America. Yes, we have a lot of pastel buildings now, but it started at Rainbow Row.

A video on savvanah is on the list!
FYI live oaks trees aren’t just on the east coast. They go from Central Texas to the east coast Carolina’s. We are famous for our in New Orleans
Appreciate that!
Yep. We got live oaks in and around San Antonio where South meets West
was thinking the same thing. I remember the massive live oak trees in the woods around Houston in the 90s
Very good video

Thankyou for the enjoyment ..
Nice tour Build The Dream.
Awesome 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I know people say that Haymans restaurant is a tourist trap. But I love it ❤

Sorry if I missed it, but what time of year was this? Looks like you guys were dressed for cold weather.
Late March

Love the information., However, Live Oaks are alive in well in Texas, which isn't on the East Coast.
Two times to visit Charleston is during Christmas and SpolEto Festival.
Just a thought: don't you think time warped the cobblestone alley🤣?

The cobblestones were created from ballast stones from ships.
Was it easy to park your car while visiting these neighborhoods?
It was!
Does anyone know where they're from? Their accent is unlike any American accent I've heard before.
North Georgia lol

Hyman's isn't worth mentioning. Tourist trap.
fancy town indeed
lol my buddy owns the Thomas Heyward house.

I am resolved to visit 😅
Oriented
I got joke we in this USA think were they legal to smoke weed at in the global
The historic City of Paraty in Brazil is 1,000 times nicer, Why ??
The South fired at Ft Sumter from the Battery on the peninsula.
Wrong, from James Island

@@kennixox262 and we miss those trailer parks. Sad they removed them for more cookie cutter homes.

I'm from beautiful Reykjavik wondering if South Carolina or Florida is Paradise on earth living, while Reykjavik is pretty amazing.
Florida is hell, Charleston is lovely. I'd move to Reykjavik if I could.
Idk why they call it rainbow row when most the houses in Charleston are different colors anyways so most of the area is colorful
