I'm 60 and I've heard stories about these bikes. This brought back memories of Montessa, Hodaka, and Bull taco motorcycles. The good old 2 stroke days of the 70's.
That's right, but a single cilinder 250 enduro, Ossa produce this Yankee in Spain, here we see the model painted in silver, they make a pure road machine too called Yankee@@mikeh.753
never fail to amaze me Ken with beautiful historical motorbikes that you show on your channel!!!! first thing I do when I get on TH-cam is look for your new videos👍♥️
@@KaplanCycles I looked at the title and I thought wow what a compact engine it is hard to see 250 cylinders in that thing! 😂 but seriously absolutely amazing. I have been a motorcycle fanatic all of my life and I’ve never heard of these before. I certainly have seen Ossa’s but never that.
I had an Ossa 250 Super Pioneer enduro for a few years. It was one of the ex six day international trial team bikes which were all sold after the event had finished here on the Isle of Man in 1975.
LOVE that you are living the DREAM to try all these bikes out!!! WAY TO GO KEN!!! God BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw a Picture Ad of one of these from Cycle World 1975 back in 1981 and Always wanted one or to build something like it. Awesome machine. Tear up the road, then just go off into the woods ...
Holy cow sir, that is the holy Grail I've only seen in magazines. I can't wait to come to your museum sir. You and Billy just blew my mind never in my life. Have I ever seen one? So beautiful! Another favorite! Great filming Ronnie❤❤❤ RRRRRRRRRIP THE HOUSE OFF THE FOUNDATIONS AND MORE HOLY COW😮😮 Jack Weaver the most awesomest collection❤😊 Dick man Billy, absolutely amazing info. Amazing😮❤
Love that bike and it's yellow color. I really enjoyed The Professor sharing his endless knowledge about this bike, and the history of the Yankee Motorcycle Company. Somebody will have a whole lot of fun with that bike. She appears to be very Peppy. I hope You and Your Family have great weekend that is enjoyable and safe. Much love and respect.
What an exciting looking machine with the 500cc 2-stroke twin! The yellow/black screams in coolness! Great points by Bill. I remember the Yankee 500 back in the day. They were a big deal in all the mags.
Ossa made some tremendous 2 stroke off road bikes in their day. The Mick Andrews Replica Trials, the 250 Super Pioneer Enduro and the 250 Phantom Motocross were all great bikes.
I've watched this video about 6 times. The camera work is great, but it would be so cool to see these diamonds in person to appreciate the sights, smells and sounds. Incredible bikes showcased in every video
Never knew of them or into that detail at least. Also I believe I know more then most on that era bikes. Probably not??? lol Sweet ride! Love learning this stuff! Yes disk rear brake is crazy for a '72! I am also wondering if that is aircraft quality or do aircraft use dirtbike quality materials. lmao All jokes aside.. I love this sheet. Thanks for showing it off! edit.... is it Ossa? hmmm
Ossa never made a bike with "brakes" , only came stock with water and mud transporters . Installing a JAKE brake was the only way to slow these bikes done . Grate for scaring dogs to.😁
One sold new in my home town of Yale Mich Believe it or not I found a perfect gas tank in a scrapyard in Northpole Alaska no sign of any other part Supposedly there was a roadrace version built with the 180 deg crank
My 1979 Suzuki GT250 X7 used to fire every half revolution and I think all other Japanese 1970/80 two stroke twins did. I wondering why anybody would make the effort to built a twin engine that works like a single. OK, it allows higher reving but also more friction, wright and cost.
@@thatsmrharley2u2 Are you Kaplin staff? For sure, a unique vintage classic bike for show. @ 1:11 Ken wound it up pretty good (I believe). The front tire appeared (to me) to remain well planted. hodaka and bultaco did come to my mind also. I dont think Ive heard of Yankee. but sweet! :D
@rabbithomesteading3797 didn't Ossa also build a model called Phantom?
@@mikeh.753 idk so cant say. I was super into thoughs older bikes when I was a kid but this Ossa stuff is making me feel I missed out. lol

That one belongs in the museum. Wow!
🐝🏁 Sweet Ossa 👍 bad to the bone Sweet, beautiful, motorcycle. Great video Ken 👍
That thing is sick! Sounds like a racing arctic cat sled!
I used to ride Ossas in England as a kid , the 250 mar trials...I love this never seen a Yankee absolute beast.

That Yankee is absolutely beautiful. I never seen one in yellow and it looks cool.
I remember that as one of the must-haves at the auction❤
It would be interesting if you had expansion chambers custom made for it. I think it'd be a monster.

That sound is just wicked
Very nice like the yellow might try the 180 crank mod on one of mine and put 33 lrz carbs on pioneer cylinders Very neat bike to ride

Immer wieder eine Freude, eine Yankee zu sehen!
Never seen one before…That sounds awsome, love the bike.!!
I remember seeing the Yankee 500 new on the show room floor at Cycle City Engineering in St. Louis, Mo. back in the day.
Beautiful machine. The classic machines are so awesome especially when you can remember when they were the new thing.
Absolutely fantastic. What a gorgeous bike.
😊Many thanks!

Kaplan has got another channel where you can turn on smell and smoke and so you can breathe in and see the two stroke vapours😂
It's a masterpiece! What a diamond. Greta Thornburg would lose her temper watching the exhaust coming out of it
Ossa made a four cylinder (four 250 barrels) road bike that was raced in Europe a 1000 cc two stroke.
Would make a neat cafe racer
Ossa made that's motorcycles in off Road and pure road with 3 disc brakes, aloy wheels, a beautifull machine
That thing is really fast, old school suspension, I would ride it on the street only.
How cool would it be to have Ken Kaplan as your next door neighbor? I'd never get bored.
Absolutely incredible!! I was hoping you'd do a spotlight of it after it came off the trailer.
Out of all those bikes lined up Kap. I'd have the 1980 YZ 125. 😉👍👍👍
What a diamond🤔 ☺️. The best bike very long time. Amazing.
The Skeeters were flocked!😂
Wow !! That's an awesome score. Thanks for sharing. Bet that bike is faster than stink. Very rare and should be an easy sell.
Sounds wicked !
Thanks mate I've never seen this bike before very interesting
What a incredible Beauty ! A real rocket! 🚀
FANTASTIC YENKEE 500 !!! 🎉🎉❤❤❤
Cool bike, thanks for sharing
amazing bike, sounds great!!❤❤❤❤
back in 73 3 friends of mine all bought a yankee they were very fast.

Holy Cow! Had I known these things existed back in the day I would have robbed a bank to get one. So cool.
These bikes were really cool for the day, just way too heavy for dirt riding
Cool bike. I’ve never seen or heard of it.
sounds like an RD350 Yamaha i had in the 90s!
Ossa never made a bike with "brakes" , only came stock with water and mud transporters . Installing a JAKE brake was the only way to slow these bikes done . Grate for scaring dogs to.😁
Sounds killer. I know where there are more then one of these sitting but doubt they are forsale
Recall seeing one of these in the very late seventies.
Banana Yankee
Banankee!
Ossa made a 4 roadrace..." who would want a bike that wheelies at 70.."
Hirth construction crank could be phased! S&W clamps!
I still like the 91 CR 500
Never knew!!! Gimme a rip! 500cc!! To cool fo school.
Kaplan always has something cool 🙂👍
They oughtta make these now!
Rare Gem Amazing to see ty

That is one cool bike brother!
Sounds like a banshee bike ❤
Look at the tank on that bad boy 😮
Disk rear, drum front ...odd but cool
That is awesome so cool
The world needs more crazy two strokes like this.... Not bland ev crap 👍🇬🇧🇺🇲
How about putting it on the dyno ? 45 - 50 HP ?
Do you know anything about the Yankee Motorcycle National #12 Ted Booty flat tracked after HD let him go in the late 70’s ?
That’s soo cool, and so rare, wow 😎🇺🇸👍
Surprised to see the Roll Chart Holder
Beautiful 😃
What can’t hear you at first. Awesome bike
Used to have an Ossa Super Pioneer in the seventies. OSSA stands for Oh Shit it Stalled Again! 😂
Superb!
It'd go and sound even better with some proper spannies 😊
Should of made a twin 500's for 1000cc 2 stroke. Now that would be insane.
Awesome !
Thing is a tank!
Very. Impressive
chainsaw ! epic sound

Awesome guys, be careful 🤗😁
That sounds fucking baddass like an rd 350 with bigger balls just as ken said the same thing lol
Wasn't this bike engine called a "Twingle" because both cylinders fired at the same time ? I could be wrong.
Spanish Power!!
I built a RM -80 in 1988 that would murder this bike up to 80 plus mph!
Sound like my 25 horsepower Johnson
If batman rode a dirtbike 😂
I need your bike
500cc two stroke and no attempt at the usual power wheelie? Maybe it wont?
Oh it will.
