Agreed, B5 ships wouldn't stand a chance against a starfleet vessel. A grain of sand would hit like rail gun on steroids while a starship was traveling at warp speeds, but does nothing to their navigational shields. The only thing that a B5 jump drive equipped ship could do is hope to damage or cripple a starfleet vessel with the "bonehead maneuver" (opening a second jump point in a active jump gate and run, most likely not fast enough hence bonehead).
@@pfksr64 I will see Lita Alexander and raise you Guinan. In the words of John Sheridan "Your not the only one thats been touched by the Vorlons!" Or in Guinan's case the nexus. Also Guinan is a "bit" more handy with a phaser than John is with a PPG.

I think B5 with its white star fleet would take out alot of ST ships. The white stars must be the one of the best ships in both universe's. It just looks the part.
Starfleet firepower would likely decimate anything that the humans of B5 could come up with, especially without shields (why did the Federation ships lose shields at the beginning of this?). The Defiant vs. a White Star would be interesting though, and you can't have B5 properly represented without the Mimbari showing up. Dalen appearing with a Mimbari fleet and sending them on their way would have been a fantastic way to end this showdown.
my guess is that the Jump Gate overloaded the Shield Emitters, also, would the Minbari destroy ships so close to B5 especially when we have a fair idea of what warp core breaches do, and they would too upon the Galaxy class ship exploding...man..Keogh just can't catch a break.
Two points I'd say to the question of why the Federation ships don't have shields. I remember fondly back in the day, debating Star Trek vs everything else, and I went pretty deep into it. Federation ships seem to frequently lose their shields as soon as a big battle starts. See DS9: Sacrifice of Angels, or the battles of Wolf 359 and Sector 001. Between the three battles, I only saw two Federation ships take shield hits, one being the Enterprise E. I suspect in large, pitched battles, most ships redirect shield power to weapons, or more likely my second thought: Federation shield tech operates by using a phase modulation field, which blocks the wave patterns of things like lasers, phasers and photonic weapons, unless the weapon frequency matches. However, that really only works on light-based weapons. Again, lasers, phasers (photon-microwave lasers), and photon torpedoes. They are notably worse, if even capable of it at all, at blocking plasma based weapons. Disruptors in Star Trek are, as I understand it, plasma particle weapons that are carried by laser/phaser beams. Babylon 5 ships appear to use plasma based weapons, without laser carriers. Side note: Star Wars weapons, despite being called 'lasers', behave in such a way as to indicate that they're not lasers, but also plasma weapons. Edit: I see there's some dialogue included talking about the shield loss. I dunno what caused that in the original video, or if the dialogue was added to explain it. Also I wouldn't put too much faith in the dialogue, as it's ridiculously inconsistent.
@@TheOtherGuys2 I get that but the 3 examples you used aren't the best Sacrifice of Angels, the Dominion already knew how to punch through federation shielding. If the defiant mentioned shields in dialogue then I can only assume either slip-up for budget For Wolf 359, using Picard's knowledge, the Borg were able to bypass Federation shields entirely and one tap ships at will. At first contact, those ships were fighting for several days straight, we can only presume each of those starfleet vessels were already heavily battle damaged, I.E. the Defiant, as she was fighting at almost every line the Borg had approached.
@@lexthelegend1455 At Wolf 359, Picard wouldn't have known each individual ship's shield frequency. I think in that case the Borg just overpowered the Federation ships. But even so, their shields ostensibly should have been there to be overpowered. Anyway, those are the only big fleet battles in Star Trek I can think of. Do you have other examples? (I haven't actually seen most of DS9, to be fair.)
@@TheOtherGuys2 I think the reason for not giving shields to Federation ships is obvious. It would have been a boring bloodbath if Federation ships where using their shields. Without shields is a more balanced battle. And no one, NO ONE will choose to lower shields in the middle of a battle. Also the idea of plasma weapons bypassing shields comes with a logical error. if shields where incapable of stopping plasma weapons, then everyone in the Star Trek Universe would be switching to plasma weapons or at least putting a few of those next to their standard torpedoes and phasers. Then in the battle, first destroy enemy shield generators with a plasma beam, then finish enemy ship with all weapons available.
The closest comparison from Star Trek I can think of offhand is when the Romulans and Cardassians attacked the 'Founders Homeworld'. 30 percent of the planetary crust was destroyed in the opening volley. Hell of a lot of damage. Realistically I think Earth Force, even with the help of the Rangers, are pretty much screwed.
Except Earth Alliance ships are armed with point defense that can shoot down incoming energy bursts. They are specifically the only B5 star nation to have such weaponry. Torpedos should be mostly useless except for the odd lucky hit. Phasers, on the other hand, should cut through EA vessels like crazy.
What killed me throughout the entire video was the fact that the sovereign class the most advanced starship in Starfleet got destroyed but the original Connie refit was still going like wait what I'm so confused right now
The nerd in me calls BS. Starfleet ships had shields, phasers, quantum torpedos and in many cases ablative armor. The B5 ships had inferior weapons and no shielding. Notice how no star fleet ships seemed to have any shielding? They had to nerf them in order to make it an even fight. Star fleet would have absolutely annihilated the B5 ships with barely a scratch.

The original version was free.. when they decided to release a dvd of it.. and make actual money, they had to redo all of the special effects with new ships/stations. So pretty much what you are seeing is now 15-16year old effects.. pretty good for back then actually.
This was great! I am definitely a Star Trek fan and I loved B5 also. Each show has technical prowess above and beyond the other. I had always thought that StarFleet's benefits were its shields and warp drive. B5's benefits were its Minbari/Vorlon technology combined. I kept expecting the Minbari to swoop in with their angelfish ships. That would have neatly turned the tide. You worked hard on this, and I was surprised how good it was
Right, those ships would have withstood a torpedo, especially one that could phase through matter or a quantum torpedo or a tricobalt device or torpedo beamed right onto the bridged. Maybe they could have used their techno magic to repel those torpedoes. You should look up the range the Federation ships can engage from and their speed and how strong their armor is vs laser fire before you open your mouth. Those ships wouldn't even be able to keep up with any of the Federation ships and wouldn't even be able to hit their hull let alone scratch it. The only way this could be worse if it were directed by Rian Johnson.
Please read the video description and the other comments - it states it is based on afinnish fanwork called Star Wreck in the Pirkining - those ships are not Federation vessels, but attempts at reverse-engineering done with 21st century russian technology, and they are not manned by a Federeation crew, either. When an entire fleet loses shields, the vessels with ablative armor should take point. Flank the enemy with the larger ships and punch holes in enemy grouping with the smaller ones... Rip them a new one, the Straczynski shot first...
Well... This was somewhat fun to watch. It's a little off because the tech is different. B5 is a little more "down to earth" and Star Trek always... well it's Star Trek. With energy shields and energy based weapons a fleet of Starfleet vessels should have no problems creaming this combined fleet of Omega's, White Stars and Starfuries. I don't count the Excalibur to B5 because I hate that ugly thing. B5 weapons are based on laser and plasma weapons and fusion warheads. This should prove very ineffective against modern shields and the strong hull design of cruiserlike ships like the Sovereign, Galaxy, Excelsior or Ambassador-Classes. It's really hard to compare these two francises against each other because the tech is so different. The fact that the jump gate or the singularity disables the shields in order to make this "battle" fun is a litte weird. This situation is unfair and not to mention unrealistic. Since when is Captain Picard a ruthless warmonger? Ok ok.. it Mirror Universe.. still I have a time imagine Captain Picard as a bad guy. But... I pay good money to see Janeway suffer.. just a little. A better comparison would be BSG against The Expense. Both using kinetic weapons and rockets, thick armour plating and more realistic physics if there is such a thing in Science Fiction... A fight between a battlestar and MCRN Battleship would be interesting. A little critique on the side...next time please use the full array of weapons for the B5 side. The Omega destroyer are extremely well armed with guns, cannons, mines and rockets. Something we never saw in the series because of the small budget. I'd love to see a big barrage of rocket broadsides. And B5 was upgraded with a pretty neat weapons platform in 2259 for better protection against capital ships. You used only the secondary defence grid here. Ok... enough of it. That was my two cents on that subject. Thanks for this video.
For the ships from B5, their main weapons are near enough aimed straight ahead at all times where as for star Trek ships, each weapon has arcs, (left and right & up and down) that it can fire in. If the Borg had battled the B5 ships, the B5 ships would have all been assimilated very quickly after the start of a battle
First the artistry of the CG and the use of the cast member's voices was cool. However, this is a fundamental misunderstanding of both franchises. First, Starfleet's phasers, photon and quantum torpedoes are either computer guided or target locked on the target that they want to hit. Meaning the phasers and torpedoes fired by any Starfleet (or any major power in the Star Trek franchise like The Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, Dominion and even most loess advanced species have computer targeting like the Hirogen and the Kazon) would very rarely miss the target. However, the most important difference between the two franchises is the transporter technologies that all of major powers in Star Trek has transporter capabilities. This would change the game. If a battle were going to break out and Starfleet ship could beam weapons and crew onto or off of any of the B5s "younger races" like Earth Alliance, The Narn the Centari and even The Minbari as none of them have any kind of shielding other then the physical hull of the ship and Babylon 5 (the station) also doesn’t have shielding. Even if the two fleets couldn’t communicate neither of them would fire unjustifiably, especially Starfleet but having made that mistake before The Earth Alliance wouldn’t attack unprovoked. The Interstellar Alliance (fledgling or nor) wouldn’t either more would The Independent Babylon 5 (just covering my bases as the uniforms on Babylon 5 are the ones Delenn/The Minbari gave The Babylon 5 crew when they declared independence and there were both White Star vessels and Earth Alliance ships are were present in the battle so nailing down the time in B5 history however it is possibly after season 4 but more likely after season 5. Oh and the Star Trek timeline is impossible to figure out, you have the Enterprise E with Voyager and Sisko command ping the Defiant, so it hast to take place after Voyager returned from the Delta Quadrant but Sisko was in the Celestial Temple, I mean the Wormhole, at that point and with a refit Constitution class ship there too those would have been retired in the 2360s but Sisko entered the wormhole in 2375. And Voyager returned to Earth in 2378. The most likely thing that would happen is, with no ability to communicate because of different technologies, no one would fire at anyone else and since both are from the planet Earth they would speak English so any Starfleet officer, likely Picard or Captain or Admiral Janeway? would beam aboard any Earth Alliance Vessel and speak to any Earth Alliance vessel’s Commanding officer and solve any problems before the shooting starts. The only species that would out right attack A Starfleet ship would be The Shadow, and that might be a fascinating fight. The Vorlons wouldn’t care but they would likely be a Starfleet ships biggest threat but the Vorlons would know that a Starfleet ship wouldn’t attack and just go on about its business.
I have a possible theory, all of the Star Trek ships and Captains could be from the Mirror Universe, therefore, they would attack on sight, however it is never stipulated what universe these Starfleet ships come from, so everybody assumes that they are from the main Star Trek universe.
@@michaelkantner6420 the Mirror Universe Picard would enjoy the thought of going to war as the whole point of the mirror universe is that the morals of the characters are twisted. Also phaser are computer controlled and as such they rarely miss their target. But if you need to justify it by believing it to be the mirror universe more power to you.

Clever use of Star Trek Legacy dialogue for this battle. Very clever to add that shield emitters failed once federation ships entered Babylon 5 space. I wonder if there are any Babylon 5 dialogue to further add, that would be awesome!
Yes. Some of the dialog is a bit distracting, but at least noting the lost of shields was a great touch - since they are usually the basis of any "why Trek would be X" argument. Personally, I'd love to see some Shadow ships cutting up a Federation fleet.
Ingenious use of Star Trek: Legacy audio and effects. I can definitely appreciate the time and effort that went into re-dubbing this animation.

This was excellent. Not perfect. Far from but still much better than most of what I find on TV these days. Great work and hope you make more soon.
How is this better than anything we’ve seen on the show? Well done!
1. ST's photon and quantum torpedoes have anti-matter warheads
2. ST has transporter technology: they can simply bean warheads aboard enemy ships, if not boarding parties and other
3. Energy shields and impulse drives
4. Phaser banks that can quickly target enemy ships at almost 360 degree angles (depending on coverage)
5. Warp capability without needing to open a hyperspace gate

This YT video was a combination of StarTrek Legacy sounds and voices edited over fragments of a parody fan movie called "Star Wreck in the Pirkining". In that movie, all the "StarTrek" ships you are seeing are just 21st century inferior Federation lookalikes done with reverse-engineed inferior copies of the known StarTrek ships and russian technology - they couldn't go beyond warp 2 because their fuel wasn't pure enough and their shields were so bad they couldn't adapt correctly to the shift into the Babel 9 dimension (yeah, the "9" was the name it had in the parody... or at least ... was that the name? I quite forgot after reading the comments).
In that movie there were no Seven of Nine, no Worf and no Picard - in fact the only "real" starfleeters were a Russian Captain with a sense of grandeour that wanted to be an Emperor, a strange version of Data and a angry Klingon lookalike, all of them came from the future to the late 20th century/early 21st century and couldn't come back, and then they messed up and somehow stopped Zefram Cochrane's flight from happening and had to do something to try to restore the timeline. The rest of the ship's crew were trained russian soldiers/militia which tended to drink a lot of vodka (from what the movie implied, and there's even a ship which got severaly damaged only because "the entire crew threw a party in the holodeck so brutal the entire ship is smoking, and then the holodeck doors locked and most of the crew got locked there so we are only two people outside").
So yeah, there have no starfleet regulations nor diplomatic approach, literally the first contact scene with the Babylon 5 universe on the movie was "hey there's another Earth here we should invade it" "sir, the channels are open" and then the Babylon 5 parody heard about it and said a very long speech about how they were not going to surrender to an invading force.
And in that parody movie the "Federation" ships still won despite not being able to produce quantum torpedoes, not having shields and having substandard materials for the hull. The only reason all ships got destroyed was because Garibrandy (the parody's version of Garibaldi) activated the self-destruct of the station to deter the fake ST fleet from taking over, so when the fake ST fleet left, they would have turned the self-destruct, but at the last second Garibrandy tripped over and couldn't deactivate the sequence so everyone exploded - specially since the Constitution-lookalike comms were apparently damaged from one hell of a party and being already broken it couldn't warn the other ships to evade.

I think B5 with its white star fleet would take out alot of ST ships. The white stars must be the one of the best ships in both universe's. It just looks the part.
Add a couple of Mimbari heavy cruisers and a Vorlon or two and this would be a short fight.
I suspect in large, pitched battles, most ships redirect shield power to weapons, or more likely my second thought:
Federation shield tech operates by using a phase modulation field, which blocks the wave patterns of things like lasers, phasers and photonic weapons, unless the weapon frequency matches.
@@TheOtherGuys2 I get that but the 3 examples you used aren't the best
Sacrifice of Angels, the Dominion already knew how to punch through federation shielding. If the defiant mentioned shields in dialogue then I can only assume either slip-up for budget
For Wolf 359, using Picard's knowledge, the Borg were able to bypass Federation shields entirely and one tap ships at will.
I like this version alot , very nicely done #1
4:30 Jesus that many photon torpedoes would have blown up the entire 1st and 2nd season of Babylon 5 lol.
Some lovely destruction all around! Nice piece of work!
What killed me throughout the entire video was the fact that the sovereign class the most advanced starship in Starfleet got destroyed but the original Connie refit was still going like wait what I'm so confused right now
I didn't think this battle could get any better. Thanks for proving me wrong!
All starfleet ships lost shields after going through the worm hole. Probably to level playing field.

This was great! I am definitely a Star Trek fan and I loved B5 also. Each show has technical prowess above and beyond the other. To see them fight against each other made for a different storytelling experience.

Great spoof movie , and these battle scenes have been sampled loads of times over the years
Ya the genius Russian who made that was also responsible for Iron Skies. THAT COMRADE is a Legend! I love how he literally created a Soviet Terran Empire. And the ship names are Pure Comedy. YOu Got the Omega-Class Backgammon, the Victory-Class Mk V Excavator and plenty of other halarious names.
I cannot believe I have to say this again when lots of other people did it already: this YT video is Star Trek Legacy sounds over scens of a movie whereeverything's explained: Star Wreck: In the Pirkining.
Very well done. I like how he kept the combat fluid 😄
Coulda done with out some of the sound effects, like for example, a Starship gets blown up, it's not gonna scream...🤦
Ships are crewed
@@lexthelegend1455 Yeah, and? First, space is a vacuum, you don't hear screams, and secondly, if you did, you would hear the whole crew 'screaming', not one guy screaming. Kinda stupid to have that sound effect. Would have been a lot better without it.
@@arthurfacteau398 comms, but thank you for the suggestion
Agreed , If the comms were open you would hear the rest of the bridge crew scream too
@@sywilson73 Yeah, spare me, you would hear one guy going, 'arrrgggg...'. That was totally not needed, and would have been way better without it.
5:26 I think it's really cool how that Omega fires its railgun onto the Enterprise's saucer and the blast completely PIERCES the hull! Especially when you hear the alarms going through!
Personally I enjoyed seeing a constitution with a sovereign class ship on screen with their respective roles. The over all battle was very Intense and brutal.
This was fun! I may have to stitch this one day as I love both shows but soooo much to say about this.....shield failed SMH 😆
9:45 why i am the only single person commentimg about this amazing part? I love how the excavator(excalibur in b5 universe) takes down almost all of the torpedoes just missing one, and then the way how the music changes when the torpedo hits the ships and blows up a portion of it while the sovereing class is taking heavy fire, also i love how the music changes just in the right moment when the torpedo blows up revealing the big missing chunk of the ship
and also i liked more this firing animation from star wrek of the main weapon of the exalibur class, it feels more like an energy weapon tjan in the original version, the wau how the 3 beams curves before firing insted of just being a rect and realistic laser that aims to the front of the ship, but that is just my opinion.
Why would Shields on all ships fail ?? It's the same universe same laws of physics
yeah whit shield b5 they lose so badly
another Unicerse, another physics laws.
ok, cool battle but is no one going to address the fact that at 8:56 mark when they are fighting aboard the station , that there is a McDonalds there?🤣😆
And right after that a Starfleet officer runs for cover carrying a CRT monitor?!?
9:37 I think it's crazy how the Enterprise's phasers aren't doing anything to the Victory's hull like there's some kind of shielding on it.
That was epic Star Wreck 🤣😂
I would love to see a space combat game where ships from different shows can be pitted against each other. But the licencing would be impossible.
@@jkeelsnc you took the words from my mouth - and I made some videos about that on my channel.
Very nicely made video and love both shows 👍👍
Should have called in the Rangers, but truth be told the minbari were suppose to be there because they were the reason for the station to be created in the first place
Awesome work, thank you so much for this great video.
The Picard I knew would not have fired on the Babylon 5 fighter ship but brought it on broad the Enterprise.
That was fantastic.
The Great Machine of Epsilon III could have oblirated the entire Starfleet.
awsome job dude. voyager was my fav janeway will always be my captain.
Jon Luc Picard would never fire first without lagitimit cause and provocation.
He would seek a diplimatic resalution first
This movie was a combination of StarTrek sounds and voices edited over fragments of a parody fan movie called "Star Wreck in the Pirkining".
Hey can you make more videos like this
Well, I do plan on making another edit, not fully satisfied with this one nor it's counterpart.
When an entire fleet loses shields, the vessels with ablative armor should take point. Flank the enemy with the larger ships and punch holes in enemy grouping with the smaller ones...
Rip them a new one, the Straczynski shot first...
Excellent Version. Best composite of all of them.
@@leeroberts1192 Janeway destroyed entire Borg civilization with a toaster 😂
Nicely done! :)
INDEED!!! Sir...INDEED !!! 😎🖖💯‼
The only species that would out right attack A
Starfleet ship would be The Shadow, and that might be a fascinating fight.
@@brianrussell463 I'm not trying to justify anything, just putting forth a hypothetical situation. And I am FULLY aware of how the phasers and photon torpedo's work, I play STO ALOT!
@@dirdib69 Oh yeah, bring on the Shadows and the Vorlons!!!
This version is better than original…. I like you used the Star Trek fleet command
Nice Re Edit
5:11 What's that weapon called? I thought it was some type of radiation cannon.
The ship is an Omega Class Destroyer and it's firing a Heavy Particle Beam cannon.
@@LastMumzy Heavy Particle Beam cannon, got it!
I like that the ship that lasted the longest should have been the first to be destroyed.
