Great Job! I'm 54 yo so I was perfect age to watch original Star Trek when it premiered. Back in the 60's Star Trek was SO FAR AHEAD of its time that many of the serious minded adults just laughed at it or ignored it completely. As a little kid that watched every NASA space mission filled with awe to see Star Trek just fueled my young imagination! When you are 10 years old EVERYTHING seems possible! I'm still addicted to Space Exploration and anything related. Thanks for posting!
I love this! The ships and their lighting are absolutely wonderful. I love the pre-TNG Warbird! Man... I wish this was an actual episode! I also love how faithful you stayed to Captain Garrett's account of the battle. Four warbirds and everything. Great job! Can you give us more?
The shape of those warbirds is even more similar to the real world vehicle called "Bird of Prey", originally, "Oiseau de Proie", which is the French name for the 14-bis, the plane made by Santos-Dumont. Its front elevator, and its rear wings made it seems like a bird of prey, like startrek ones. But the original name is not about any military purposes. It's just about the shape. This plane have flown in Paris in 1906, in front of a crown, and cameras, which made photos and VIDEOS. It started from the ground, lift up by itself, and came back later in entirely in safe conditions, just like now-days replica of this plane.
This is still one of my favorite interpretations of that famous battle. On a historical note, the space of time between Kirk & Spock and the adventures of Capt. Picard and the Enterprise D, there was great expansion in the Federation and the entire Beta Quadrant was constantly on the brink of war.
The hell she wasn't >:( her and the crews efforts cemented the treaty between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, plus read the lost era novels that ship under her command for 11 years before Narendra III proves different,
Rachel Garrett was to the Enterprise C what Captain Kathryn Janeway was to Voyager. She was a excellent captain who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. No Captain would have survived that onslaught even if shields would have been up
That was wonderful. I loved your take on starship battles, a cross between the 'jet fighter' battles in warp and the 'naval battleship battle' from ST:WoK. It looked terrific, and the narrative text was compelling. Nice work. :)
Very, very well made! Did a very good job in filling in the gap in the original episode. A lot of work went into this. Thank's for producing and sharing this talented work.
Very well done! Whatever minor 'mistakes' are besides the point. The Romulan ships looked amazing, as did the Enterprise C. This is a battle everyone has wanted to see, so thank you for making this for the fans! :D
This actually had a rather good set of background music choices. Too often people who make these kinds of videos don't seem to put the thought into the music that you have. Great job.
@basherman69 Yes but I'm saying at the moment she chose to lower shields, in order to transport down and render aid to the Klingon survivors, that is when the Romulan attacked, having scanned them dropping shields. It would not have been negligent to do this if you thought the attacking ships had left the area. I certainly will take note that in future videos I should put more thought and time into these issues since I want people to fully enjoy the video without nitpicking lol.
I just want to say that I have been watching this video, not to mention all your other work, for days now. The Romulan Warbirds look outstanding. The black paint over the green is sick. Oh, and I'm definitely going to watch this in conjunction with "Yesterday's Enterprise". Such a great idea! lol
Baseshocks Why would we Need to ASSume that? They are responding to a distress call from a Klingon outpost that is being Attacked.... Don't get me wrong but the key word: Attack would automatically make me go to battle stations, shields at maximum... ALL Weapons at ready and FULLY activated. Sensor sweep analysis anyone?? Come on man!!
Trent Timoy They Rival fed tech meaning they can target the Enterprise warp engines right after decloaking. As we have seen in the series time and time again, warp engines can be disabled even with the shields up.
Baseshocks The Enterprise was completely caught off guard to have sustained that much damage during the initial first strike. I would have to assess that as a breach of appropriate protocols when entering a potentially unpredictable situation. If I'm not mistaken, part of battle tactics includes a "first strike" on your opponent to gain a upper hand (the Romulans achieved that). The Enterprise sensors should've anticipated a 'decloaking" ship. This scenario was all set-up for the historical significance it contributed to the stronger ties between the Klingon empire and the Federation. The circumstances that occurred with this Enterprise was meant to be in order to forge the alliance that the Federation and Klingons enjoy today.
Trent Timoy For the amount of damage given.. This is a fan made cgi scenario. The way i see it war bird declockes and damages engines. The rest is a battle.
This has all the makings and imagination of Star Trek and all that it stands for, excellent work, to anyone out there, how can u ever make a dislike or negative comment here when this is as close to seeing a new episode of STNG as you will ever get. Makes me realize how much I love Star Trek and how it captures my imagination and makes me long to see more, thank you sooooooo much for sharing!
Im loving how you captured the camera angles from the shows so perfectly.... All I can think of to make it better would be some acting, so that it seems like an actual episode. That would be pretty cool, if you had good actors and sets.
VERY VERY good. I am a Trek Shipper (I love my trek ships). I didn't care so much if you did do the ship wrong. I was too distracted by the excellent cinematography and graphics. You pieced together a story that was wonderfully done and compared to others (except one other trek artist on you tube whom only beat this by graphic quality alone) this is a masterpiece.
Nice!!! I've always wondered,as a teenager, what the actual battle itself looked like after "Yesterday's Enterprise" ended. All I had was my imagination to go on. Until now.Great work!!! Thank you!
Excellent retelling of the story! This continues to show that the best talent is on TH-cam and not in Hollywood! Very nicely done and great imagination!!!!
Well done! I like how you added momentum to the impacts on the Enterprise, something likely hard to pull off with the models used in the series' fx shots.
That's a brilliant video! I really enjoyed the C/D encounter and the snippets of TNG "Yesterday's Enterprise" played over the scene - very inspired and an excellent selection of lines. Look forward to your next.
I loved the way you slightly modulated the light behind the cloaked ship. Very eerie and subtle. ST could've used the same technique to let the audience in on stuff without letting the crew know. Very cool.
You know what VideoSpaceFX, i really thoroughly enjoyed this, very nciely done. I expected exactly what I got anf was entertained. You have talent and I say good job and thank you!
Excellent video, I love the detail of the ships and how you re-created the Ent-C/Ent-D meet. I can't want to see the edited version and I look forward to checking out all your videos.
That was very good! I can imagine the script in my head- Captain Garret and her crew's reaction to the attack, the alert sirens, the consoles exploding. And I can see Castillo and Yar's valiant struggle and final decision to abandon ship. An awesome video!
@EVAUnit4A Thanks. The warbird model was designed by Raven Night as a game mod for Bridge Commander and fits into this timeframe and the escape pods were made by me, based on other escape pod designs we have seen. I understand about the music but it was neccesary for timing purposes, I don't have a composer scoring my videos so I have to make do. I think the fastest I sped any piece up by was to 110%. Im suprised anyone noticed.
OUTSTANDING effort!!!! My compliments! A small piece of advice: knock it off with all the fadeouts. That's all. I LOVED IT!!! Super Job! Please bring on more!
@satyrquaze - I had seen this video with the captions on. The captions explained that as the Enterprise-C was coming up on Narendra III, the distress signal never identified the attackers and no ships were detected on their sensors. The shields were down to render assistance to the outpost. However, before Captain Garrett could react, the Romulan ships were already de-cloaked and had their first volly of photon torpedos fired. This knocked out their shield array instantly.
Absolutely amazing!!!! I feel like I actually watched Star Trek history and in my head anyway, is now canon. I got the freakin chills on the last title card when it discussed the new Federation/Klingon partnership. Great job!
Well done, it does fit because eventually tasha's daughter becomes that Romulan leader on a later season. Man its little things like this that makes me like Star Trek even better. Keep up the good work.
I liked it. A new, consistent-looking design of Warbird, and it's generally nicely-done. The pacing could be described as a little sedate perhaps, and I can't honestly say that I much cared for the Enterprise-C wobbling on its axis when hit on the saucer, but I can see just how much time, effort and skill went into making this and I'm really impressed.
@VideoSpaceFX This was fantastic. Not sure what the treky121212 guy was talking about either. The video clearly says the Enterprise dropped shields to help the Klingons and there were definitely 3 Warbirds. Very nice work on this.
From one "ST nerd" to another, this was well done, I especially liked the cameo from the Enterprise D and the audio from the corresponding episode. Job well done.
I can't claim to be much of a fan of these amateur ST efforts, but this one was really rather good. The understated battle scenes are a definite plus, in my opinion. Great job!
@OriginalTrekker1966 No see video description and previous comments. The shields were lowered for transport of aid to the stricken outpost and then damaged by the attack. I believe that the Enterprise fought the warbirds alone since there is no mention of Klingon ships when Garrett speaks of the event in Yesterday's Enterprise. I was going to have a few Klingon ships arriving as an ending but I didn't get round to it.
@BoredomCorner Yes they probably would be up anyway when entering into a combat situation. I was trying to show a surprise attack when the first warbird decloaked. I was thinking that the Enterprise expected to be able to detect the enemy ships, not knowning they were specifically Romulan ones with cloaking devices and when there were no ships detectable they expected this to be no more than a mission of aid and assistance.
@BlackGT2 Thanks, there are actually 4 warbirds in total (see 7:00) which agrees with the account given in Yesterday's Enterprise. I wish I'd made it clearer that the Enterprise's shields were down and then knocked out in the first attack as people comment on alot, either that or give her shields that fail later on.
@DazhFX Thanks. Well if you watch the whole video, you can see that the impulse has a blue glow from 7:11. I consider the blue impulse from Yesterday's Enterprise to be a VFX error, considering all other Federation starships which have red to orange glows. However I considered that maybe the impulse drive was damaged which caused it to turn blue sometime before the point where it went forward in time. Therefore in the "flashforward" scene it is blue, which is consistant with the episode.
Very good fun to watch. I knew that was the enterprise C but did not realize what episode it was from until it went through the space distortion. Thanks!
That was super fun! Thanks for filling in the details I never understood of how Tasha made that later appearance after her death! You use of music was totally pro. Hope you make more. Thanks.
@TitanLover8011 Yes that's right, the warbirds from this battle weren't given a class or type, but the creator of the model I used had in mind an older, smaller design compared to the D'derridex/B-type for the Ambassador-era.
Excellent vid and hard work! I thorougly enjoyed it! I agree with some of the other posters regarding points of the vid to fix in your finalized version, such as the 'rift' appearing after a volley of Photon torpedos. All in all it is an excellent rendition of pieces of the story left out of the series that we would have never seen otherwise, if not for your imagination and hard work... THANKS again! This is my favorite episode of TNG!
@Irrenmann Thanks. I respect the points you made and I may at some point create a re-edit of this video with the elements you described. The impulse engine does glow red initially but later it is blue. I knew the glow was blue in the episode but I took it to be perhaps caused by damage to the impulse drive since red/orange is the standard colour we have seen for 23rd-24th Century starships.
@VideoSpaceFX Phenomenal, I noticed few if any incongruities. It explained Tasha Yar in the Episode of STNG, and made the Ambassador Class way more then just a simple afterthought. And the CG was fantastic. Good on ya mate
@satyrquaze Correct. When the Enterprise-C went forward in time to the Klingons it looked as if they had run away resulting in the Klingon/Federation war. The timeline "corrected" itself when the Enterprise-C went back and was destroyed in the fight. Though as we saw in another episode there were prisoners taken and, if I'm remembering right, whatever was left of the Enterprise-C was put on display on Romulus.
loved the way you used the klingon's theme to introduce the story. all music works great in this. carry on good work, ships could be a little more agile. im usually no fan of cgi, but looks cool ;)
@Johnnymoo Thanks. Yes I agree about the warbird, there are a couple of scenes where the lighting made it look much worse. Right now I am sorting out the models for the various classes of ship in the battle, getting them looking as good as possible, so I haven't started it yet.
@TitanLover8011 These aren't D'deridex class warbirds they are an earlier, smaller type called the Vmelak class. The Romulan D7 variant dates from 2267 and could still be in use by 2344 I guess, but they were never referred to as "warbirds".
I was just saying today we need a new star trek series, and then I find this beautiful gem, i'm in heaven. Pity that theres no cast which would be great, but this is so brilliant. Thanks!
VideoSpaceFX I would like to say thank you for filling in the gaps to the demise of the Enterprise C. It was well told. If I were a movie producer I would hire you all to make this one piece . I all ways wondered how the battle would play out
Absoluely fantastic! I loved this ship and it's story when I first saw 'Yesterday's Enterprise' as a kid in 1990, and this is a lovely homage to a 'forgotten' ship. If only you made movies!
God that was beautiful. I've always felt that Paramount should do a miniseries about the Enterprise C, its adventures leading up to its destruction. We got a glimpse of that in the TNG episode, and this video really fleshes out what happened. Excellent work!
@satyrquaze - Anything could've happened afterwards. Remember, in ST III, the automated systems of the Enterprise began to break down and eventually failed completely after the Klingon warbird fired on it. The Enterprise-C was already heavily damaged from the earlier firefight. I could be wrong, but I think Geordi said something about the Enterprise-C's shielding being limited.
Yesterdays Enterprise was, and still is one of my favourite episodes. I often wondered how the battle might have gone. Be neat to see some short episodes of the adventures of the Enterprise C, since this era has little write up.
When the Enterprise-C goes back through the Temperal Rift and resumes the battle against the Romulans you can almost tell that its Natasha Yar that is now manning the Tactical Station... Where as before whoever was at that station didn't really have a clue what the Enterprise-C was capable of. This was very interesting and very well done.. Thank you..
@CJCA915 Thanks! I've been waiting for the upload/processing as well, it's 4am here now! Yes I wasn't happy with quite a few of the shots of the warbird especially, I think what you suggest may improve that.
@Hienn Yes it's from "Let's Get Out of Here" from the Star Trek V OST, used in the scene where Spock tells Kirk not to hug him infront of the Klingons.
OMFG!!!!!!! THIS is one of the absolute best things I have EVER seen. 'Yesterday's Enterprise' is one of my favorite episodes, and I have always wanted to see the battle at Narendra III both before and after the Enterprise-C's temporal incursion. The only thing I would like to see corrected is the formation of the temporal rift. It did not just magically appear. Captain Garrett said (and I'm paraphrasing here) was the result of a 'fierce volley of phasers & photon torpedoes'.
Great Job! I'm 54 yo so I was perfect age to watch original Star Trek when it premiered. Back in the 60's Star Trek was SO FAR AHEAD of its time that many of the serious minded adults just laughed at it or ignored it completely. Wow, That was great! Nice work all around. The editing of the various soundtracks was done well too.
Great video! That was one of my favorite New Trek episodes. Thanks for all the work!
Rachel Garrett wasn't a very good captain that's for sure
Correct. She should of used photon torpedo's as well
The hell she wasn't >:( her and the crews efforts cemented the treaty between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, plus read the lost era novels that ship under her command for 11 years before Narendra III proves different,
Rachel Garrett was to the Enterprise C what Captain Kathryn Janeway was to Voyager. She was a excellent captain who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. No Captain would have survived that onslaught even if shields would have been up
A Captain is only as good or bad as the crew he or she commands.
She was one of the best that's why she was in command of the flagship
That was wonderful. I loved your take on starship battles, a cross between the 'jet fighter' battles in warp and the 'naval battleship battle' from ST:WoK. It looked terrific, and the narrative text was compelling. Nice work. :)

51 years is how long it's been since the signing of the Khitomer Accords. 2344-2293=51 if anyone is wondering.
That is gorgeous!!! Probably one of the best Star Trek Animations out there. One can see the love you put in in this. Thank you!
This actually had a rather good set of background music choices. Too often people who make these kinds of videos don't seem to put the thought into the music that you have. Great job.
One of the best made fan videos I have ever seen! Really a amazing job.
10 years on and this is still brilliant, better than most things on TH-cam these days
Great job. I really enjoyed that. The creativity and talent of some people never ceases to amaze me.
A great video man. Especially at the end with the ships plaque, slowly floating through space, was a very nice touch.
Impressive. I think it was well done. The rendering of Enterprise was phenominal. Good work!
@basherman69 Yes but I'm saying at the moment she chose to lower shields, in order to transport down and render aid to the Klingon survivors, that is when the Romulan attacked, having scanned them dropping shields. It would not have been negligent to do this if you thought the attacking ships had left the area. The Romulan Warbirds look outstanding. The black paint over the green is sick.
Oh, and I'm definitely going to watch this in conjunction with "Yesterday's Enterprise". Such a great idea! lol
Nice work on the effects! Ship design taste is one thing, quality of work is another, outstanding stuff!
The Plaque at the end is an excellent touch.
well made gold. Thank you for bringing this to the people who wish to see it.
Very nice detailing The music score is blended so well into the picture and choosen well to highen the setting. Nicely done.
This was a wonderful way to do this episode and it's story justice. Well done.
Why weren't the shields up and operating at maximum capacity? You are entering an unknown situation and responding to a DISTRESS call of an Attack?
Assuming they were, Romulan tech rivals Fed tech.
Sensor sweep analysis anyone?? nice cg. the ships are beautifully rendered and the camera work is quite well done. i'm a bit worried about the enterprise's lack of shields.

Superbly done!!! Excellent CGI and retelling of the story line.
Very cool and well made video! I really like the design you did for the Romulan ships of that era.
From one "ST nerd" to another, this was well done, I especially liked the cameo from the Enterprise D and the audio from the corresponding episode. Job well done.
All the ships blown up in seconds are severely outclassed by the other. The video is very well done.
I can't claim to be much of a fan of these amateur ST efforts, but this one was really rather good. The understated battle scenes are a definite plus, in my opinion.

@DazhFX Thanks. Well if you watch the whole video, you can see that the impulse has a blue glow from 7:11. I consider the blue impulse from Yesterday's Enterprise to be a VFX error, considering all other Federation starships which have red to orange glows. How the hell did you make this?!? This is top notch a +. Amazing!
Fantastic, I miss Star Trek on television greatly. I only wish we could have seen the crews, but keep up the good work.

Well done, sir. That was superb. Always loved the Ambassador class ships, and the pre-TNG warbirds looked fantastic.
This is incredibly well done. Really nerdy, but great to watch. Cheers!
loved the way you used the klingon's theme to introduce the story. all music works great in this. carry on good work, ships could be a little more agile. im usually no fan of cgi, but looks cool ;)
This good stuff here man. I can tell a lot of work went into this. Keep it up.
That was really cool. It makes me wish there was a series based upon Enterprise C. Thanks!
@Johnnymoo Thanks. Yes I agree about the warbird, there are a couple of scenes where the lighting made it look much worse.
Right now I am sorting out the models for the various classes of ship in the battle, getting them looking as good as possible, so I haven't started it yet.
Gotta love how the C came back all "you want some hands too? I brought plenty for everybody. Come get it."
Thanks!
I like it! Very cool looking, and the ships look almost perfect. I love the "new" Warbirds. Great job.
very good video!
I especially like the romulan pulse canon effects and the antimatter explosion of the enterprise.
you are doing great work,
VideoSpaceFX I would like to say thank you for filling in the gaps to the demise of the Enterprise C.
Thank you..
Amazing. Simply amazing. You sir have earned a Like and a Favorite. Why this video doesn't have over 1,000,000 views? I don't know.
@CJCA915 Thanks! I've been waiting for the upload/processing as well, it's 4am here now! Yes I wasn't happy with quite a few of the shots of the warbird especially, I think what you suggest may improve that.
@Hienn
Yes it's from "Let's Get Out of Here" from the Star Trek V OST, used in the scene where Spock tells Kirk not to hug him infront of the Klingons.
Fascinating video! "Yesterday's Enterprise" is one of my favourite episodes.
