did you measure for pushrod length or did Anderson tell you what use? Also I'm assuming you know there's more to installing rockers than just tighten them down I've done it buy just torquing them down and it always has worked but if changing heads cam and rockers which I know you didn't change heads I would measure for pushrod length and follow the full procedure to get correct rocker arm geometry this is just to help others reading the comments I'm not trying to tell you or anyone for that matter how to do things that know what's going on just thought it might help someone who doesn't know trying to learn car sounds great.
That part was one of the things missing in the video. Anderson does recommend.050 longer pushrod for this cam. We forgot to order them so we decided to use the stock length which worked well. With that being said he is ordering the correct length for the car. Also I dropped the ball on mentioning the fact that I was ONLY referring to stock heads with pedestal mounts. Not studded poly lock rockers. I do apologize for not being as thorough as I should. This video was a wreck to edit.
1) Exactly what I started to ask. 2) Question is.... Measuring is the only accirate way to know the correct rocker geometry. Is CLOSE enough, good enough ?? Small time investment required.
@@BREW2LFOXBODY You do plenty to help people out I don't mind mentioning a few things that maybe will help out also nothing wrong with the video was fine people could always ask questions if they're not sure.
@@hotrodray6802 With a pedestal mount rocker you want 1/4 to 1/2 turn to the torque spec once zero lash is reached, if more or less then you would add or subtract shims.. that is on the base of the lobe. I'm not sure why they didn't bother checking that?? You'll know if it's incorrect because you will have valvetrain noise like you hear in this video. Also, you want to add some assembly lube, or at least engine oil to the tip of the pushrod, the cup on the rocker & on the roller tip.

Couldn't help but notice the Hanlon motorsports flag in the background. I had them fully rebuild the T-5 out of my 86 GT way back in 1994. They did an excellent job and turn around time for me living in Illinois at the time was fast! Great to see they are still hard at it!!! Oh and I used Anderson motorsport for my mass air conversion on the same car!
I made an Anderson cam spec post on the corral about two decades ago with the same user name. I made 296/339 with this cam, my own ported explorer intake and my own ported gt40 heads. Car went 11.86@117/118 in 1999-2000ish. I too ran them with 1.72 rockers. The b21 and b31 were identical specs except the b31 was meant for 1.6 rockers. This is actually a blower cam, but runs excellent with a high compression NA setup or with nitrous. Speaking of nitrous, this cam is almost identical to the n21 cam abet a slight difference in centerline
One last time before I give them to someone else....if Andrew wants some free stock headlights that are not yellow...I'll ship them to him for free....just doing it because your channel inspired me to do all my own work on Trinity (88 lx)...it's all good either way master Brew2l 👍
Now I want one. I used to race dirt track mini-stock class and so many mustangs were chopped up for dirt track 4 cylinder racing it wasn't even funny. They were a dime a dozen back then. Personally I ran a Ford pinto chassis because I liked the suspension better for a dirt track surface it was just easier to tune into the track surface than the mustang suspension setup was. Leaf springs with shackles and double wishbone front suspension is much quicker to adjust than the struts and four link in the back of the mustangs. I love a fox body for what it is but a dirt track car with suspension rules to abide by was not a situation that it excelled at. It wasn't as adjustable to the surface nearly as quickly or easily as old fashioned leaf springs and double wishbone front suspension was. The drag strip was where the fox body excelled honestly. It came with everything necessary straight from Ford to be able to make it work well. Leaf springs are a whole different animal at the drag strip requiring much more adjustment to make things work night to night.
