It's almost like Tudor is becoming what I remembered Rolex was as a teenager: a well-respected brand that is not so revered as to scare off ordinary buyers, expensive but still attainable, classic and familiar designs, solid quality, a must-have for all the adult watch lovers, and a good piece to pass on to the next generation as a family keepsake. I am still on that never-ending waitlist of Rolex, but maybe I will allocate some budget and snatch another Tudor, most likely the Black Bay Pro.

    • @bbrebozo6417

Reverence has nothing to do with the Lolex shortage, it’s all about AD greed, flippers and gray market pirates taking advantage of the greed.

I wanted a Rolex right up until the point that I realized that Rolex didn't want my business. I'm over them now and I have to say the watch world got more interesting when I started looking at and buying other brands. Rolex can make all the changes they want to their watches but if you can't get one, what's the point in talking about them. Time to move on.

I was lucky enough to pick up a Black Bay Pro on the steel bracelet the other day. I was concerned that it was going to be too thick, however after putting it on my wrist ( 6.5 inch ) it instantly felt and looked fantastic. For those of you worried about it’s thickness, try it on first, but I think for most it won’t be an issue in my opinion. An awesome watch at a great price.

@@ZeroSOFInfinity I do think the leather strap looks really good as well. I guess in my opinion it’s better valve buying it on the steel bracelet and then buying a OEM leather strap afterwards if you want, rather than the other way around. Apparently all the costs of the straps and bracelets have gone up in price recently and are fairly expensive now. Either way, I think the watch is great valve for money and will be a popular watch.

The crown makes sense on the Tudor Black Bay Pro but it wouldn’t make sense on the rest of the black bay line. The rest of the line all have rotating bezels with the teeth matching those of the crown. I would hate it if they added this crown to the rest of the line. Also the pro looks a lot like my Tudor black bay steel and I wouldn’t swap them as 14mm or so at 41mm is acceptable but at 39mm isn’t that a little too much?

I personally don't understand why everyone is going so nuts over the Black Bay Pro. Does it really make sense for one of the most hyped watches of the show to just be... well, a Rolex homage?
Personally, I thought Tudor was more meh than even Rolex this year. Attention and hype should've gone to the other brands actually innovating and offering new stuff in that sub-10k price point. Stuff like Oris's Pro Pilot X. Or Cartier's whole lineup. Or Grand Seiko's whole lineup.

@@mikehoward9912 Oh I really didn't like Zenith this year lol. Chronomaster Open is...fine I guess? But the CMS new gold ones look EVEN MORE like the Daytonas they're pretending they're not ripping off. And then to discontinue the Defy Classic and introduce the Defy Skyline...which AGAIN looks like a piece ripping off elements of an unobtanium watch to put it in a more affordable package.
Zenith's choices starting to feel a lot less coincidental and more like they're deliberately planting them as a luxury homage of unobtanium pieces.

Enough with the green already. It is not a neutral. Nor is it utilized in daywear enough to warrant green hands, bezel, dial indices or anything green that isn't a common, widely accepted and utilized luminescent. The only case in which green is desirable is a natural, unavoidable and benign patina that has occurred over time on a vintage model or out of a featured material like bronze or copper.. Otherwise, green is a niche watch fashion that's (ahem) had its time and should be reserved for watches that need to match handbags and shoes.

So if Tudor makes watches like Rolex used to and that’s generally seen as a good thing. Then who the bloody hell is buying the current Rolex models. Sure they must be well made but so are tudors. As I Tudor owner I can appreciate a great watch at a price point that is both aspirational and attainable. With the exception of the Daytona i can’t get excited about the other Rolex models.
Do people only care about them as investments.
Good residual value is great but surely you would have to like the look of the thing to actually purchase it.

I don't like the fact that the Tudor doesn't have a crown guard. The crown sticks out too much IMO. By the way, as an airline pilot, I _yet_ have to meet a colleague who has a Rolex Air King. 🤣 The name "Air King" is also a bit unfortunate for a watch as it's confusingly similar to a very famous aircraft, the Beechcraft King Air. All in all, the Air Kng doesn't make sense, because a _real_ pilot (especially the ones who fly long haul like myself) would like to have a GMT hand, hence why the Rolex GMT Master II is such an enormously popular pilot's watch. I know because I have one, and it's very useful in daily flying ops.
