Just got one on bracelet - wears smaller than a 41 but larger than a 58. The clasp aids in a comfortable fit. I agree…give it a try and you may be surprised. Good review Adrian - balanced and fair.
I don't think smaller watches necessarily need to be thinner than larger ones (as people are alleging by harking on about "proportion"). I think the visual impact of thickness is actually *reduced* by making the watch smaller in diameter. There is less watch and that makes up for the fact that it's a bit thick. That's borne out by all the video I've seen of the BB Pro - it looks great to me. Pleasantly chunky but not oversized in general.
I totally agree with everything you said... Not only about the watch which I really like but also about the terrible waiting lists and queues...I currently wear a gmt 16710 which is on my wrist for almost 20 years. I want this bb pro as a daily watch I believe it ticks all the boxes.. Sport, elegant, tool, travel...
Y’all need to just wear what you like and get off hodinkee once in a while, black bays aren’t that thick no matter how many internet people say so. It ain’t that serious
I 100% agree with you… if we’re talking about a sub $1k watch. Speaking for myself and probably one or two other people out there, I’d better be in love with the watch if I’m going to spend >$1k-1.5k. That being said. Not all thick watches wear thick, so trying it on is probably the way to go
Tried this on... As an owner of 2 BB58's (Black and Bronze)... I thought the thickness would bother me... it doesn't. I have a request in with my AD, they only had it on the fabric strap, so I am waiting on a bracelet version. Pumped.
Tried it on a NATO. It's a great piece. I think you nailed it-even with the extra layer, the thickness wouldn't have been a deal breaker. Feels thinner on wrist than their chrono or even the Pepsi gmt
Got one last weekend. Was amazed how fast i could get one after i finally found a dealer where i could place an order. Got one on a bracelet. I love love love it. I also have a BB58. I am amazed how i lived with without the bracelet adjustment which i use now all the time. I have small wrists. Around 17cm. It fits fabulous. And thickness is a non issue. It is there but not in a bad way. It is also more comfortable than my bb58. But i think this is more due to my sharper edged bb58 than anything else.
Phoned my AD about this watch say three weeks ago to inquire about picking it up. At the time, she said they hadn't seen any come into the shop yet and definitely not on bracelet (which is what I was requesting). So, yeah, you know it...the list. But this tale has a happy ending and that's why I'm sharing. She called yesterday to let me know the bracelet version is in and it's mine if I want it. It'll be on my wrist Thursday. The point? The wait was minimal and this should not end up causing the same frustration as its sister brand and its nebulous lists.
When I grown up I want to review watches and discuss topics with the smoothness of how Adrian does it 👍🏼! I really need to get hands on with this watch before passing judgement, but so far it’s an absolute winner for me!
Yesterday I bought the BB Pro, what a beautiful watch. The yellow ribbed nylon would also look great on my watch, hence my question. The yellow ribbed nylon will soon be available again in 20mm?
I absolutely love this watch. The size is perfect. Because it's only 39, the height gives it perfect volume. I own many watches but I only wear the pro now I love it so much. Anyone who says this is too thick doesn't know what they are talking about
Tried this on the leather/rubber strap and it wears really nice on my 7.10 inch wrist. It certainly has a certain presence height wise, however, it isn't noticeable and the 39mm case negates this well. A really handsome, retro but modern watch. If it has been on the bracelet, it would now be on my wrist.
I love Tudor but the case thickness always puts me off ! I owned the reverse panda owned it for a month not only the case but the faux rivets put me off and sold if it was thinner it would be a winner 🤷♂️
I hate the faux riveted bracelet and I know alot others don't like it either. It would be nice if they dropped the riveted bracelet altogether but Tudor seems to love it unfortunately but yeah way to gimmicke or just make a real riveted bracelet. They should have left it like the first black bay that didn't have the faux rivets
Too thick and too heavy. For just over £3000 . Nope not for me. So what if it due to the crystal, overall thickness is overall thickness. And how come this guy never mentions the weight in grams of the watches . That is a key point that most watch reviewers now mention as it is a key indicator of comfort on wrist. That and yes, thickness….Simples.
Adrian you have managed to articulate my view on this watch better than I could. I heard about this watch and and almost dismissed it as being too thick from the spec sheet. My very kind AD invited me to just take a look at the watch on the bracelet, it's not a thin watch but on the wrist it wore very well indeed and the bracelet is superb (I don't mind the faux rivets, I don't even notice them on the wrist). I now have this watch on my wrist, yes it would be nice if it was thinner but we could say the same for almost all watches. This is now my watch and I'm very happy with it. I have to agree that the lume plots without any surround are brilliant The T clasp is arguably one of the best available on a bracelet, no buttons to push or link clicks to engage it's brilliant. I hope Tudor offer these clasp options for other models in the future, alternatively get a Bark and Jack strap that I may be looking for for my other watches..
Tried the Pro on two weeks ago and specifically brought my BB58 for comparison. Needless to say, I am now on the waitlist and had no issue with the weight/thickness. Like others have stated, try it on first and then decide.
Tudor fanboy and also a Rolex one! The more I saw it and eventually got my hands on it, the less I liked it. Tudor , the only brand to be forgiven for making a Clomage! But adding a handset that lets be fair should be only on dive watches is an easy way to distract your thoughts Adrian! Watch is way too thick on my wrist , can be forgiven as a Chronograph but not a GMT.
Really great review. I don't necessarily agree about the rivets, but it's great to see you are still critical now you have connections in the manufacturers etc, really speaks to the integrity of the channel.
So glad you said " Go try it on ! " So often we make pre-conceived judgements that are just not accurate. However, I would have much preferred to have seen it in a 41mm case. Sadly my son's BB 58 blue is lost on my 8inch wrist, so for me the diameter is the issue . Love the 1655 influence , one of the best Rolex's ever designed . That with the yellow Gmt hand , make it the slightly chubby love child of the 1655 and the Ranger! I do really like it though. Adrian, so agree with you on the waiting list political bull! It's why I will never by a Rolex.
Congratulations you're in the top 10 ish percent of gargantuan wrists. You can wear any watch in production with ease. With great power comes great responsibility.
Checked out the watch today at our local AD. Somehow it looked cheap. Meanwhile the pictures taken by Adrian are so much nicer than the actual product.
Adrian! I desperately want to purchase a nato from you, but you’ve not got any in a 24mm size and it breaks my heart. Would you consider a small run of them? My 3 most worn watches all have 24mm lug widths… here’s hoping!
Not too thick at all. I have 6.75 inch wrists. Wears smaller than my Seamaster 300m which is slimmer. Love this thing! Perfect go anywhere do any thing adventure watch.
Nice video. Never understood the appeal of the Explorer II, but know that it is a highly-regarded watch. This Tudor BBP is a fantastic interpretation (or homage) of its Rolex cousin. I like what the folks at Tudor have done.
If I had your collection - I might actually be happy with a two-watch rotation, as I feel like the Explorer and Explorer ii are an incredible duo. With that said, I do like the new BB Pro. I’d be more inclined to seek it if it had a white dial, though.
First I agree trying the watch on in person is a must if you can. I have a small collection of watches including three Rolex watches purchased before the price boom. I also own one of the original Omega Planet Ocean watches in the 42mm size. The thickness of my Omega is 14.1mm. I noticed this extra thickness over my Rolex watches and feel this watch is easier to bang into things. From my wearing experiences with my watches I look for watches under 13.5mm in thickness. All of my Rolex sport watches are under 13mm and are very comfortable to wear. I tried a 41mm Tudor Black Bay GMT and it felt very bulky to me. I used to own a Breitling but sold it because it was too bulky as well. Thin watches that sit closer to your wrist should be the default for something costing thousands of dollars. The Tissot Gentlemen Powermatic 80 is 11.5mm thick with 80 hours of power reserve at $775. I personally think Tudor has the resources to do better but maybe Rolex wants them to be a step behind. I like the look of the Black Bay Pro.
Great summary, Adrain. And yes, the rivets...I don't mind vintage inspired design, but the rivets are the equivalent of a decorative peal-and-stick air intake on an otherwise great car. I sold my BB58 because I couldn't get over them.
Good comment.😁Fake rivets?......sorry but I could never unsee them and would never buy a watch with fake rivets, fake patina (looking at you Railmaster) or any other fake rubbish. So put that in your Tudor pipe and smoke it.😎
Just got mine yesterday. Beautiful piece, and I think most people that complain about the thickness are just parroting what they see/hear. When wearing no issue at all.
I tried on both Tudor’s new GMT and they fit well on my 6.5 wrist. Once you put these watches on thy fit like a glove and their thickness is not even noticeable . Go try them on like Adrian said , it’s wears different on the wrist than the specs on paper . I will be ordering both
The thickness is like a Tudor P01 and I love my p01… very true luxury shouldn’t be wait it should be a buyers experience… thank you for clarifying what is luxury sir… always love the content of your channel…
In case anyone is considering this watch in 2023, after six months, mine had to be sent back due to defective movement, the crown was stuck and wouldn’t wind or move the time or date.
Can I ask for any discount in AD for this Tudor Black Bay Pro? Im thinking about buying my 1st Tudor so I dont know rulex...if its like a rolex - no discount or its like omega (where you can ask for discount) . Thanks for answers!
Good points about watch dimensions; on paper they may sound a certain way, but in person they can appear differently. I think several measurements are important in how a watch wears. As many know, that’s the case diameter, lug-to-lug length, and overall thickness. That being said, I think layering with thickness can be important too. That’s not going to be reflected in the dimensions, but is apparent when you see a watch in-person. Here you pointed out how the domed sapphire glass adds to that overall thickness. This can make a watch appear thinner than it actually is. Additionally, the sloped bezel probably helps reduce the apparent thickness as well. Nonetheless, I think the slab side of the case will still probably make this watch appear thicker than I prefer.
nkuwan You are so well-informed about luxury watches. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much
I’ll admit to posting comments about it being too thick and it is thicker than I like but I’ve been waiting for a simple, clean dial with a date function so I finally decided to go and see one on Saturday, they only had it on the hybrid strap, personally I thick it’s 100% rubber. I decided to buy my first luxury priced watch because the dial and bezel looks gorgeous and the thickness isn’t the deal breaker I thought it would be, for reference I found the pelogos too thick but the diameter was out off my comfort zone Currently the things I’m not keen on are the gmt hand as it probably stands out too much making the watch less intuitive to read at a glance. Also the rubber strap isn’t particularly comfortable as I seem to be between holes for the right fit and it’s a bit squeaky. And as for a pleasurable shopping experience, it wasn’t. The manager seamed great and answered my email very well and he was pleasant in the shop but he was busy when I turned up and I got a different salesman who really takes the joy out of the experience.
As far as the thickness goes...in terms of how it looks feels on the wrist...how does it compare to the Harrods that you had for a hot minute a while back?
@@BarkandJack Absolutely. The Explorer II made a lot of us hanging so I bought a TAG Heuer WAZ1112.BA0875 while waiting but now…now I can get the Black Bay Pro and switch the Explorer to a white dial instead.
Thank you, Adrian. I think you’re best in the entire watch media game hands down. As someone waiting for a call on this - this is some much needed and appreciated perspective! Keep up the good work
I love this watch. Just bought it, comfy wise its very comfortable to wear. Regarding thickness i dont think its an issue. The look is amazing. Will surely become a classic watch.
I wonder if Tudor re working on the Polar Black Bay Pro? There will have to be clear black borders for the lume hour plots. nd black borders to the lumed hands. But it is possible.
Recently, I was working in Windsor, Canada and I just so happen to google while driving out of town luxury watch ADs and found a gem. They had all three versions of the black bay pro... For sale! That said and after being spoilt with endless customer service I choose this fantastic timepiece on the hybrid strap as it just suited me and my personality. Initially, the salesman advised the bracelet. However, seeing all three on my wrist he agreed that the hybrid was more suited. He even brought over another one of his colleagues and he even agreed so “cash me out please!” I’m so happy! And I barely notice it’s thickness. I kind of like it! It’s a tool watch after all. This has been my favourite luxury watch purchase due to the experience since 2007 when I bought my Rolex Sub 50th anniversary. I hate these silly nick names and refuse to call it a Kermit. Effing stupid. Ps, I’m loving the your podcast, mate. Congratulations. Fair play!
I have a 10mm and a 15mm thick watch. the 15mm one is difficult to wear with long sleeves. thickness is definittely a deciding factor. why don‘t they shrink down watches?
Great update… visited my AD and tried on the pro on the hybrid strap as it was the only one in stock, I was the first to try and placed my deposit for this watch and fingers crossed will be offered to purchase. Great fit and the thickness does not show on the wrist, beautiful watch.
I really don’t like the steel bezel, but I do need to see this in person. This may make me sound like an idiot, but what is the point of a GMT if the bezel is fixed?
Just measured my Seiko 62MAS / SPB 143 crossover and it's 14.8mm thick, 41mm across and 47 lug to lug but because of the male endlinks of the bracelet it takes 55mm before the bracelet curves downwards. Yes, this doesn't slide under the cuff easily but it also isn't clunky. I guess, i'd have no problems with the BB Pro except that it makes me think "Bulova Astronaut" all the time.
It's a great looking watch that's for sure. I haven't seen one in the flesh but if it is like the other Black Bay models then, for me, the actual thickness isn't a problem - it's the way they wear it. I love the Tudor GMT but I tried one on and it's just so slab sided that I found it clumsy looking. Same for the original Black Bay. If the case was sculpted somehow (like a Yachtmaster for example) I think it would hide the dimensions more elegantly.
I do love your take on the whole waiting list BS, your spot on with that. I think I woud definitley go for one of these and probaly fit it with a flat AR coated saphire cryatal, if there is sufficient space. Will have to get one and take it apart to have a look. having had the Black Bay GMT for a while now, and loving it, this looks to be the way to go.
Great looking watch! Still deciding on this or the speedy. Anyways, do you guys ship the straps to Asia, Singapore? Would really love to get some of Bark&Jack’s good looking items!
Great review -I own the GMT Tudor Pepsi and it wears nice for an everyday. Look forward to check out this pro Tudor. It seems attainable and priced for having fun🎉
Nice watch, affordable and available. I have an average sized wrist and the watch I'm wearing is 42mm and 15.5mm thick with flat sapphire, titanium on a bracelet and I dont even notice its there 130 grammes and nicely balanced, so I think you're right. Dont be put off by the numbers.
I think because it's a 39mm case the thickness ratio looks more pronounced. It's a bit chunky yes, but it's a GMT movement so it will be at this price level. Still a great watch. Try it on the wrist and then decide how it feels. Specific dimensions are not always the deciding factor when wearing a watch.
Nonsense. There are lots of GMT watches at this price level and below that come in around 12mm. Tudor not going back to the drawing board to make a thinner GMT movement was lazy.
The real spirit of Rolex is on TUDOR now, super happy for that. If people bother's me because TUDOR is the Rolex for poor man , I would say ,Rolex is the Patek P........ for poor man, just in case, I own a Rolex Air King, absolutely love it. I will go for that TUDOR right away.Nice video.
A lot of negative comments have been from people who have only seen pictures and the bare specification. They have no right to comment until they have tried it on. The Worn and Wound team approved of it a few days ago, offering the same opinion as you, Adrian. The movement is second to none. I have a Q series GMT and I last adjusted the time in November 2021, when I wanted to have the 24 hour hand on UTC. Prior to that it was how it came from the AD. This watch is accurate to 3-4 seconds a month, and might be even better than that. Thanks for a timely and interesting review, Adrian.
I'm wearing a Seiko Marine Master 300, 15.4 mm thick. Fits like a dream. I'm going to give this new Tudor a try. Hope they won't be scarce like the original Tudor Pepsi, anyone remember that? Such a challenge to get one the first year after it came out.
I'm a lover/stalker of the Rolex Explorer II 1655 so when I saw this homage my eyes lit up. But on holding some Tudor's this last week down in Gibraltar, a Rooty GMT and a titanium Pegasus, I was surprised as to how rough the "hand" of the watch feels, how sharp all the edges felt. This turned me off a bit but I'll track one of these Pro's down and have a feel. And the thickness? I'm wearing a Sky-Dweller which is 14mm thick and yes, it feels thick but not so much that I don't want to wear it. Thanks for the great review. Enjoyed it.
I tried on the Tudor pro , and can’t understand why people are so concerned about the thickness, all other measurements are the same as the bb58 , which is perfect.
Not all thick watches wear thick, so trying it on is probably the way to go
Agree 100%
Disagree. Too thick. Like wearing a hockey puck on the wrist.
@@brettrun8575I’ve had mine for a year, It doesn’t wear thick. It’s a lot less top heavier than my IWCs by flipping miles
For someone who has tiny, TINY wrists who bought one yesterday, it surprisingly doesn't wear thick at all
Tried this on...
Tudor Black Bay Pro is just stunning and Tudor did a brilliant job - period. To me, it’s the best Tudor released ever
Hi Adrian; I hope you are doing well.
Should I get BB58 or BB Pro?
Please advise.
Love mine greatly. It’s my favorite GMT still… wearing it right now.
I tried this on at the Tudor boutique in West London and I must say the thickness is not as bad as it would seem on paper. It wears beautifully
Love it! I read some of the comments. Thickness is non issue. 100% true. It’s wears wonderfully.
Anyone who says this is too thick doesn't know what they are talking about
I love the BB Pro. Think it's a great watch but can't help and think it should have a crown guard? Thoughts?
The thing you mentioned about "luxury" is one of the biggest reason why i LOVE cartier.
Hi, which mic do you use? I enjoy your sound quality.
This watch is really growing on me. Thanks Adrian. Totally agree with your comments about customer experience.
Great video, tried one on at the AD. Wish it was 42mm but just about big enough, did not feel too heavy (I have 8 inch wrist) love the clasp as well.
Is this worth it if you already have a black bay 58 and don't have too much variety in your watch collection?
I like your bezel comment A LOT. I couldn't agree more. Your comments about luxury are also right on the money.
Tried the Pro on two weeks ago and specifically brought my BB58 for comparison. Needless to say, I am now on the waitlist and had no issue with the weight/thickness. Like others have stated, try it on first and then decide.
Did you manage to get yours yet?
Hello there, I am somewhat curious if BB Pro bracelet will fit your BB58..?
If yes, I shall buy it just to fit its bracelet to my BB58 blue. Thanks!
Hi Adrian. My partner and myself both love your channel but what's your views on women's watches ?
Adrian you wreckon this bracelet will fit the BB58 or just the clasp only??
@@fVNzO 😂 it’s true because big wrists can wear big and small watches but small wrists can’t always wear big watches
Perfect go anywhere do any thing adventure watch.
what do you think about tommy hilfiger watches ive got one its pretty nice?
Nice video. Never understood the appeal of the Explorer II, but know that it is a highly-regarded watch. This Tudor BBP is a fantastic interpretation (or homage) of its Rolex cousin. I like what the folks at Tudor have done.
Loved your comments in reference to waitlists and luxury. I think the watch looks great!
If I had your collection - I might actually be happy with a two-watch rotation, as I feel like the Explorer and Explorer ii are an incredible duo.
With that said, I do like the new BB Pro. I’d be more inclined to seek it if it had a white dial, though.
I second the motion for a dual explorer collection
Love the channel. Tried the BB Pro today - didn't think the thickness was an issue at all - was well balanced on the wrist.
So put that in your Tudor pipe and smoke it.😎
Kevin O’Leary one time said “ why I have to buy a Tudor when I can buy a Rolex?”
This watch is the answer.
Rolex doesn’t make vintage look watches.
All well and good you mentioning NATO Straps Adrian, but do you know where I can get one??
Just got mine yesterday. Beautiful piece, and I think most people that complain about the thickness are just parroting what they see/hear. When wearing no issue at all.
I tried on both Tudor’s new GMT and they fit well on my 6.5 wrist. Once you put these watches on thy fit like a glove and their thickness is not even noticeable . Go try them on like Adrian said , it’s wears different on the wrist than the specs on paper . I will be ordering both
Which one do you recommend black bay pro or omega Seamaster 300m?
You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much
Can we call it height instead of thickness? Or it’s too tall on the wrist instead of if it’s too thick for me? Thank you 😊
Great video. I just got mine on the nato strap, and I absolutely love it - not too thick, indeed. Cheers!
I’ll admit to posting comments about it being too thick and it is thicker than I like but I’ve been waiting for a simple, clean dial with a date function so I finally decided to go and see one on Saturday, they only had it on the hybrid strap, personally I thick it’s 100% rubber.
I decided to buy my first luxury priced watch because the dial and bezel looks gorgeous and the thickness isn’t the deal breaker I thought it would be, for reference I found the pelogos too thick but the diameter was out off my comfort zone
Currently the things I’m not keen on are the gmt hand as it probably stands out too much making the watch less intuitive to read at a glance.
Loved the review as always. Superb.
Any chance of doing the new black bay 36 s&g review?!
Brilliant analysis! I’ve always liked your humble and unbiased opinions about watches. Thank you! Is the background a hotel? Looks great!
Such great content, my friend! Been binging your channels ever since I wached this review. Keep it up, bruv!
As far as the thickness goes...in terms of how it looks feels on the wrist...how does it compare to the Harrods that you had for a hot minute a while back?
Adrian, how would you compare it to your previous GS gmt quartz? You raved about how great it was at the time but then lost interest.
Got mine today, great watch!
Quote ‚ I have zero interest in pissing about with games and waitlists. ‘. Spoken from the heart. 👍🏼💪
Agree with your review! Just picked one up today!!
Black Bay Pro is actually the first Tudor I fell in love with.
It really does stand out to me too. I'm a bit Tudor fan, but this one is special.
Just picked mine up. Heading over to your site now to figure out what straps to buy!
@@polygoncoco I give you that. It's more that this BBPro looks like other watches before i.e. the Astronaut and several Glycine Airman models.
Tried on at my AD… IMO… not thick. Don’t let the “14.6mm’ fool you. it’s a gorgeous watch. Well executed!
Collected mine yesterday and it is gorgeous!
Great review -I own the GMT Tudor Pepsi and it wears nice for an everyday. Look forward to check out this pro Tudor. It seems attainable and priced for having fun🎉
Movements aside how does the Tudor compare against the Grand Seiko 9F GMT. Both true GMTs, similarly styled and sized and in same price bracket?
This watch is utterly gorgeous. I'm afraid I'm just going to have to pull the trigger- well, when it's actually available that is!!
Looks good. Thick, but nice. Enjoyed the video. Have you considered acquiring an actual 1655?
It’s only a bit thicker but it’s really not that bad , it’s overall a good size and just looks great on the wrist, and your right you must try it on , I have the bb58 and the measurements of the pro was not off putting, I’m definitely getting one . Anyone want a bb58? 👏👏👌
agree with your stance on availability of watches. been waiting forever for a tudor bb chrono. be safe A ~ JDS/CT
