I don’t know if anyone has commented on it yet, but your Goldfinger insert with the Tudor was seamless. I had to do a double take and rewind to make sure I had seen correctly. Sidenote, it was really hot up in the northeast last week! The GF and I were in RI for the weekend for a wedding, and with how hot and humid it was, we were happy to be back to the dry heat of Utah once we were done. Thanks for the video TGV! Always happy to see it in the inbox!
I’ve been to so many watch stores. Had some fantastic experiences. But the experiences I’ve had at Tudor have really stood out. The staff are incredible and true watch enthusiasts themselves.
Perhaps it’s the nostalgia but I prefer your return to this format style. Your referring to the black bay as a crack bay still has me rolling with laughter. I have always appreciated your opinions and yes even at times your brutal honesty.
Spot on with your statement about Pelagos giving you the submariner feel. I think the Pelagos is the only watch that carries on the original Submariner purpose as a tool watch. The modern Submariner is a luxury watch while the black bay is a vintage inspired luxury watch. Whereas the Pelagos just focus on being a good analog tool watch.
Excellent TGV, thanks for taking us on your sunny journey around NYC. Like that Pelagos 39, specifically the white outer edges of the hands and the more consistent square theme on the indices with that dash of red in the "Pelagos" text on the face. As you mentioned, you can play and match that with your nice custom NATO. Cheers mate, until next time.
Great video TGV! I’m so glad that you are enjoying New York again! Hopefully the weather gets slightly cooler there! Thank you so much for the great videos! Enjoy your Tudor watch! “Unwards and ever upwards!” Your watch enthusiast, (Nicholas L)
Just saw the video, great as always. Just ordered a Pelagos 39 and was happy to see your comments. Did you ever get one? As a former owner of an early 90s Tudor Sub, (purchased new back in the day) I'm looking forward to the Pelagos!
New strategy. I will buy Pelagos 39 now, then buy Pelagos 42 Blue pre-owned or wait for Pelagos 39 Blue. Next, rubber and nato straps. Sell lots of others to fund this plan.
You must be the first reviewer, at least that I've noticed, that pointed out that the round BB indices don't suit the chunky snowflake hands. Round indices suit Mercedes and lollipop hands. Square indices suit snowflake hands. This is why I prefer the Pelagos, having previously owned the Blue 42 which I sold and replaced with the 39 when it was launched. I wear my P39 every day and it's my favourite watch for everyday wear.👏
Picked a hell of a day for that shop, stroll, and shoot, bro…hottest day of 2024! As always, thanks for your review and commentary. Good to have you back.
I walked into my AD to buy a black bay and left wearing a pelagos 39. It's the perfect diver and the titanium feels so soft and light. It will also take scratches/ patina a lot better than the BB as time goes on. The more I wear it the more I love it.
Appreciate your comment. Expect I will have the same story to share. Thought I was settled on BB58 Monochrome, but moving back to Pelagos 39 now. Will add Pelagos 39 Blue when available as well.
Watches of Switzerland at Hudson Yard are really good. Not overly in your face, or super snobbish when you ask about a Rolex. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Thanks for the great videos Tristano, and welcome back to NY.
I have just bought the black fxd my first tudor and definitely the most expensive watch I own I absolutely love it and have fell in love with tudor cheers TGV from Glasgow Scotland
Aesthetically it may not “work” or have symmetry on the black bay, but I love the snowflake hands on Tudor because my eyes suck and it makes reading the time easier. The P39 is truly a fantastic watch and I’m sure you’d enjoy it in blue. All I’ve been wearing for two months at this point is the P39 and 5600UE. Great 2 watch setup right now. Great video as always TGV.
Mad respect for your knowledge and vast experience w/Rolex and Tudor. Vacillating between Pelagos 39 and BB58 41 Monochrome. Your observations have allowed me to make a decision. Pelagos 39 is now my choice. Will certainly add Pelagos 39 Blue when available as well. Thank you very much! Now a fan.
Great video in the N-Y-C!! The Pelagos 39 is the pinnacle of Tudor dive watches. They just need to restore the rehaut cutouts from LHD, convert that ugh width to 20mm and matte up that dial a bit.
Good evening TGV! NYC brings those oldschool Gentry-Vibes. I like the fact, that Tudor picked up the pace with the Pelagos and realize, what gem they have in their current lineup. But nothing beats the vintage Tudor Subs 😉 Best regards and have a great evening!
Great to see you out and about. Brings back some good memories of when ive been to New York, hope to come back soon (maybe not in summer!) The Pelagos is a stunning watch. Great video as always sir 👍
This is the video we needed. I personally love the Pelagos 39, but am waiting to feed the cash cow upon release of a blue version. The P39 really feels like a modern version of a vintage Sub, if that makes sense. I happened to try both a vintage sub (at a Todd Snyder, of all places) and then a P39 at my AD in close proximity. I love the blue MN Tudor Subs with the snowflake hands/rectangular markers, but the thought of paying more for one than my new Explorer II just doesn't make sense in my brain. I have not had a chance to try on the monochrome, but the burgundy version wears beautifully on my 7 inch wrist. It was the refresh we all needed. I wouldn't be mad if they came out with an all blue version of that, but I still would prefer a blue P39.
My NTH Näcken Blue no date is back on my wrist and I'm in love with it again. I bought and sold a lot of other suggestions coming from you, SKXs, Lorier, Navitimer but this Näcken blues on the dial and bezel are truly mesmerising! To scratch that 1016 itch, I'll catch a Smiths Everest one day, and I should check the Black Bay 54 in the metal to be sure about it if it is worth the cost (I could save for vintage but cannot cope with the guilt to engulf so much money on, in the end, truly, toys). With the Nomos Ahoi Neomatik in Bucherer blue (limited edition I think) and a simple edc Seiko 5 SRPE 5X something, the one in green for a change, I think I'll be happy for a long time putting all these on nice nato straps. Ok, the Nivada Grenchen Antarctic is really nice too, but a bit expensive for 3ATM, hesalite and Soprod... Onwards, and Upwards ;-)!
Very cool your family member was awarded the Victoria Cross. My grandad was awarded the Légion d'honneur about 5-6 years back for his part in D-Day. He’s still kicking about and was part of the 20 vets that recently went on that week long memorial trip with the Royal British Legion. Great history to the NATO ☺️
And within minutes of watching you walk around New York I'm checking out the Persol website to look at yet another purchase to add to my collection of Persol sunglasses (7 so far). Personally I'm looking at the Tudor Ranger. The sheer simplicity of the watch really speaks to me. Just the time and nothing else.
Love the videos. Sensing the move to New York is adding more excitement to the anticipation of each drop. Currently in holiday in Majorca and thinking seriously of taking the plunge with my first luxury watch. Tudar are really my price band limit, so loving this video😊
Welcome back to the Big Apple. Over the Memorial Day weekend, I pulled the trigger and bought the Tudor Ranger, steel bracelet. It is my final watch. I've been a Tag diver guy for years. Finally decided I had no need for a bezel. Too much of a shiny bling look for the Black Bay Series. I wanted a brushed watch. The Ranger is the descendent and Aire apparent to the watch Fleming's character wore. Different, simple with understated functional elegance. This is the watch for me.
Wow what a coherent and great video. Almost as if you were there on that hot day. My Tudor BB 54 is the perfect Tudor for me ( I have 4 x Tudor ) and it doesn't need to be compared with a modern Sub. That's what I like about it.
Talk about timing! I've only just acquired a grail - Tudor Pelagos FXD Chronograph from Japan (I was over there very recently) and this video comes out! Pure Class! Yes that 39's aesthetics really are sublime and that bezel action sound is delicious - mine of course doesn't sound amazing because of the Titanium with Carbon Insert. The Lume on these Pelagoses (is that a word?) is incredible. My piece of course is rather large but so is my wrist, so it's a perfect match (unfortunately the FXD beautiful blue strap it came with is too jolly small!!!) and of course with the FXD set up it's a verified strap monster. PS if I was asked to choose between a standard Pelagos and a Subbie, it would be Pelagos every time (except I'd go for the 42 for my aging eyes to better appreciate the beauty). Great video as always and enjoying your return to NYC!
TGV back in NYC! Epic! Wow that Tudor bezel sounds aaaaamazing. The lack of crown guards in the Black Bay line wins me over...every time. It really holds to the styling of the mid-century ref 7924 "Big Crown" long before dive watches started to slap on those pesky crown guards. Summer heat in nyc...uggh. Always pure class. O&U
The Pelagos is the only modern Tudor I've ever been interested in, but I particularly love the design cues of the 42mm and I absolutely need a date feature on my watches. If they ever release a Pelagos 39 in blue with date I would seriously consider it.
I'm with you on that. I literally could not care less about any BB but the Pelagos has always caught my eye. I thought about holding out for a blue 39 but finally picked up a blue 42 for just over 3K. Glad I went with the OG and it's entirely matte finish
Hello Mate, it’s been a long time since that first cup of coffee. Fell in and out of love with watches over the years buy still enjoying your videos. I’m loving the new vibe to your videos, seem a more gritty you and I like it. Onwards and upwards mate. Still got my original Tudor smiley face with the rose. Just can’t part with it. Stay cool 😎
I own a pelagos 39 and it will never leave my collection. It was my first luxury watch. The qualms most people have I don’t experience with mine. I only got a good fit on the bracelet after putting an uncle straps halflink. 21mm lug width is meh but I haven’t taken it off the bracelet so it doesn’t bother me too much.
While I usually would prefer the Black Bay due to it's dial layout, I've lately warmed up to the Pelagos and think if I was at the counter ready to buy I could see me getting the Pelagos. I think the Black Bay line has been beaten to death and the Pelagos line has it's own merit that stands out on it's own. I loved this style of video like many others. First class as always, TGV.
@@chrisbradshaw7708 As proof I agree, my Pelagos 39 will be here July 14. Hard decision, I liked the BB58 Monochrome also. Now, on to buy lots of straps for Pelagos 39. Fun!
I know you can get around on public transportation, but be careful on those trains. Don't be so relaxed. I lived there my whole life and you don't want to have a problem. I like your video's and we want you around for a long time.
Welcome to NYC sweltering heat! I don’t think the Rolex/Tudor Sub is a good direct comparison to the BB. I think the Black Bay and especially the BB58 is its own separate thing. The 58 is so well made and perfectly proportioned for a sports watch. It borrows from classic Tudors and Rolex without being a slave to an exact copy . It really is it’s own thing. The gilt bezel gives the 58 a warm feel, the red triangle offers a pop of color paying homage to the Tudor Big Crown, the chunky coin edge crown is so satisfying to wind with a refined matching coin edge bezel and I love the snow flake seconds hand. It’s different from the more traditional lollipop style. By the way, 39 mm is on the smaller side for a modern sized sports watch. I think anything smaller is playing vintage territory.
Hi TGV, how do you think the Pelagos 39 compares to the FXD? Which would be your pick considering that the FXD (specifically the blue 'MN') can be seen to have more loyal ties to Tudor's heritage?
Loving the return to the older style videos. I almost bought the Pelagos 39 and chop my BB58 in but the BB won out. I didn’t like there being no polishing on the hands and wasn’t sure of the titanium. A lovely watch but I’ll stick with the BB for now. Stammi bene TGV.
I'm with you. I still can't get behind the snowflake hand and round indicies of the Black Bay. The Pelagos got it right. (I'm a big fan of the Ranger as well.)
I just went into that Meatpacking store this week. Also spoke with Jonathan and can second TGV’s recommendation…also, the Rolex boutique attached to the Tudor is exceptional and carries solid vibes.
Love Tudor. Safe to say i'm pretty biased as i own two of them. Unfortunately i've no room in my collection for another but if i did the Pelagos 39 would be my pick. It's the modern take on the Tudor Sub.
You really seem happy to be back in NYC, despite the heat 😅 anyway, I’ve really come around to the Pelagos 39. It has a lot of features I like…the brushed fully lumed ceramic bezel, the mild sunburst on the dial (which you’re not keen on apparently) the micro-adjust on the bracelet and no date complication! And those squared off blocks of lume (another very contemporary feature I’m fond of) for the indices do go very well with Tudor’s trademark snowflake hands. It is a thoroughly modern design unique to Tudor…very well done 👏 like you though, my only minor gripe pertains to the use of scratch and dent prone Grade 2 Ti rather than Grade 5. Maybe it was a cost issue that garnered Tudor’s decision to go with the former? 🤷♂️
Yeah, the main reason I would go with the P39, or almost any Pelagos, is the fact the snowflake hands properly go with a snowflake dial. The snowflake hands just don't look right and lack cohesion with a submariner dial as in the Black Bay line.
Hey TGV, interesting to hear your take on the Pelagos 39. I purchased one this year for my 40th after a year of deciding amongst many other watches. A big upside for me is the sheer comfort on the bracelet. It’s my only watch on a bracelet and it stays on the bracelet.
Hey up pal. Great vid 👍🏻 is it just me but the pelagos 42 & 39 feel like night & day to me 🤷♂️ the 42 just feels like top notch quality when you pick it up, but unfortunately the 39 feels like the much lesser? Anyone else think this?
I wanted to like the P39 but the sunsburst dial is frankly quite strong and not something I could get over. I also didn’t like the brushed finish on the bezel. They both make the watch weirdly blingy/kind of tacky. The FXD is a much “toolier” Pelagos but it might be a bit big for many wrists. I’m torn between the mono and the FXD for my first Tudor.
Was in Boston for a full day with my fam during the heat wave and my god…😅 Saw some great sights but didn’t get to Shreve Crump and Lowe. For the best I’m sure 🤑 Not sure you’ve visited them but that’d be a great place to see. I’m traveling with: Lunar Pilot 45mm on black nato, Casio Duro on bracelet, cream dial Seiko 5 Sports (old version) on El Alamein nato, white “A” dial from Islander. All the best! Thanks for your hard work TGV!
The old Tudors are the best. And the ETA movement are rock solid reliable and easy to maintain.New model, this made after he reboot about a decade ago, Tudors have no soul at all. I almost jumped on a 39 Pelagos, but after years of wearing a sturdy 14060 it just didn't measure up so I passed. But the subjectivity is what make horology so interesting.
Hey TGV, I love your new videos in New York. They give me so much old school vibes. Back to the days when you started your channel. Outside, inside, some New York sightseeing. Great! Thx. Best regards Sebastian
My day is made, thank you Sebastian. Just like the old days, your comment completes it too. Thank you so much my friend, have a great week ahead! The very best of regards, TGV
Refreshing that you speak the Black Bay for what it really is… it’s full of hype. And similar to your experienced, I also moved on with the “crack Bay” 😊. I did an honest video talking about the state of tudor milking the black bay line, but the backlash is insane 😮
Great video! I agree the valor strap looks nice. I would put the valor mk II on my black bay 41. The red triangle and the red stripe in the middle would compliment each other.
I was surprised (and disappointed) that Tudor didn't release a blue Pelagos 39 this year. My next watch will be a smaller diver to contrast my Omega SMP, and I do love the timelessness of the Tudor lines.
I still prefer the warmth of the CrackBays gilt dial but man I saw the FXD’s in the flesh recently and the black one was calling my name 🤷🏻♂️. Shout out to the MeatPacking boutique - they sold me my CrackBay 54 the day after reveal… said it was the first in the US 🎻 Very glad to see you back in NYC 👍🏻
Great video TGV! Seeing you in the tank top really reminded me of your old videos. Definitely eyeing the Pelagos personally, I seem to always lean towards tool watches.
Yeah the “hype” almost always kills a watch/design for me. Even within the hyped brands like GS, I went for the SBGA 293 & 467. Only a vid or two available on each and nobody raving about them, but IMHO they are two of the greatest value for money GS models available. Makes them all the more special during ownership. Anyway, so great to see you in the heat and noise of NYC. I live in Jersey and work in Philly so that noise is like home 😂 ~ Cheers!
The pelagos 39 is a very nice watch. I do regret the Sunray effect on the dial and the bezel and I'll continue to choose my BB58 blue all day long. But a P39 in a mat blue would be so hot, let's see next year !
Great overview TGV. Great to see you back in NYC. Have you tried the FXDs? I purchased the black FXD and have been loving it. Even on my 6.75” wrist. I feel like it was made as if Tudor continued making issued watches. Like Casio doesn’t exist. The monoblock style case is so cool. Give it a try if you haven’t already. Don’t be put off by the size on paper. It really wears well for its size because of those lugs
Thank you. I have only seen them in passing. I remember liking them. I love how you put it, outstanding and clever way of looking at it. I am deffo more intrigued now! Best regards, TGV
Loving the return of the NYC style intros from the pre-Philly days.

Travel/ vlogging. Magic. The best type of videos for me TGV. Keep up the good work my mate 👏🏻 🦖
Thanks for showing us these sceneries TGV!
For you my friend, always a pleasure.
Thank you,

thanks for making my Saturday night solo beer nights so much more pleasurable.
Loved and wanted that watch ever since it was released. Waited 2 years and picked one up for $1300 off retail. Patience is gold!
The blending of vlogging makes your video so much more unique than the rest of other watches video in TH-cam.
Excellent TGV, thanks for taking us on your sunny journey around NYC. The Tudor Rose Logo looks more elegant , i wish they bring it back. Great video 👍
I could not agree more.

That's why I have all 3 versions of the 79220

Thank you so much for the great videos!
Enjoy your Tudor watch!

Just saw the video, great as always. Just ordered a Pelagos 39 and was happy to see your comments. Did you ever get one? As a former owner of an early 90s Tudor Sub, (purchased new back in the day) I'm looking forward to the Pelagos!
Some of the best production I’ve seen yet from anyone! I wish I had your accent, I might actually talk in my videos!
That Tudor Sub you own mate is just best Tudor ever. Great video!
My larger blue Pelagos remains my daily. The symmetry of the markers and the snowflake hands looks so right to my eye.

I'm with you on that. I literally could not care less about any BB but the Pelagos has always caught my eye. I thought about holding out for a blue 39 but finally picked up a blue 42 for just over 3K. Glad I went with the OG and it's entirely matte finish
Love the Pelagos, totally a grail watch for me!
Perfect Videos as always ur style is unbeatble brother 3x3 !
🙏🙏🙏
Thank you, deeply appreciated.
Best regards,
TGV
Wait until you review the new 41mm monochrome! Dreamy and I think would steal the show
Welcome to NYC sweltering heat!
Good to see you back in the Big Apple sir!
Would love to see the Pelagos go Blue in 39mm - The regular Pelagos Blue is so good looking.
@@DavidDatura Spot on observations on Pelagos 39. Ordered one today, arriving July 17. Now I will begin strap research (approx 6 should do it). Fun!
👏👏👏👏👏 #pureclass
Enjoyed the video, I believe the 39 in blue is gonna happen. The thing I really want to happen is the return of the oyster prince
Hey up pal. Great vid 👍🏻 is it just me but the pelagos 42 & 39 feel like night & day to me 🤷♂️ the 42 just feels like top notch quality when you pick it up, but unfortunately the 39 feels like the much lesser? Anyone else think this?
Thanks for the great video! Which independent watchmaker do you use for servicing your vintage Sub?
Love this style of video! 👏
You had a bit of Bryan Ferry on the go , an exquisite choice Sir!
Was in Boston for a full day with my fam during the heat wave and my god…😅
Saw some great sights but didn’t get to Shreve Crump and Lowe. For the best I’m sure 🤑
Not sure you’ve visited them but that’d be a great place to see.
Great! Thx.
Best regards
Sebastian
My day is made, thank you Sebastian. Just like the old days, your comment completes it too. Thank you so much my friend, have a great week ahead!
The very best of regards,
TGV
What you did at 3:37 with bond was awesome haha
I still prefer the warmth of the CrackBays gilt dial but man I saw the FXD’s in the flesh recently and the black one was calling my name 🤷🏻♂️. Shout out to the MeatPacking boutique - they sold me my CrackBay 54 the day after reveal… said it was the first in the US 🎻
Very glad to see you back in NYC 👍🏻
I love that Pelagos
@@t.j.macpherson7581 Agree, ordered Pelagos 39 today. (Approx 6 straps for it next).
Best regards,
TGV
