I bought my 2nd pair of tech 7 boots a few years ago. Took like 12 rides before I could get any feel but now I love them. They won’t wear out. I considered buying SG12’s cuz I heard great reviews
@@devinsmith3645 in fact if you have a big calf I recommend staying clear of them, I have a big one and I cannot wear the knee protection in the boot! Other then that great boots.
Had my heart set on the Sidis as my first set of premium boots, tried them on, the boot was way too skinny for my foot and without putting weight on it the arch support was painful. Was very disappointed as I liked all the protection and replaceable features But horses for course right. However I tried the Tech 10s, instant comfort in comparison. I landed up purchasing them. Done 3 rides on them so far and they have been great. No complaints, great support and comfort.
@Lo Spettro Yeah I agree its horses for courses. I did like the 7s and actually thought they were more comfortable than the 10s, but I went with the 10s for the extra safety of the inner booty. I didn't get to try the Instincts, but I have heard great things about the comfort like you have reiterated.
I've owned all the boots you reviewed except the FOX. My son swears the FOX boots are the most confortable he has ever tried. I felt the SIDI boots felt really narrow and didn't like the way they felt on the pegs either. Used to wear the A-Stars in moto but I'm all off-road now. I'll stick with my SG12's. They are stiff and squeak, but it's legendary!
You're son is right about the instincts, very comfortable. I agree that the SG12s are one of the best you can get. Hard to find any faults in those. Once they break in, they're amazing.-Chase
Bro, I also am still rocking my Tech 8's which I purchased new in 1999. The soul on one of the boots is just now de-laminating. I called Alpinestars and spoke with then on the phone, they were VERY nice and profession, but basically they could have made "Your Boot So Old..." jokes. They did send me some replacement buckles for free, not a perfect fit, but they work. So now is the debate, send them off to a Cobbler, or get new boots...??? I want to find someone that has had Instincts, tech 10's, Sidi and does mostly single track type riding, tracks are neat, but single tracks are exploratively (its a word) amazing, Looking to find a boot that can last me another 20 years.
Tech 7s are extremely comfortable, but the soles are junk. You’re lucky if you get a full season out of them. Sending them to alpinestars costs half as much as a new pair. It’s worth the extra money for Gaerne or Sidi.
I have 2018 Gaerne Sg10s- all gaerne boots seem to fit very narrowly in the calf so if you’ve got meaty calf’s like I do, you may lose a top buckle because you’ll run the buckle on the very last tooth and there’s no way you’ll be running your asterisks with them. Cool thing about RMATVMC is you can order them, try them on and if no go on fit, send them back.
Incase anyone watches this as a buyers guide, note that SIDI also are small sizes so get one size bigger than what your foot is. Been running mine for a year now and they fit awesome. I whent from a Tech 3 (concrete attached to my legs) to SIDI Crossfire SRS2 (sneakers feeling). Aside from that i have taken a few falls and SIDI doesn't do a great job of protecting the inside of the leg from the foot peg. I've had it happen to many times that the inside of my shin gets smashed through the boot. Next season im giving the FOX Instinct a shot. :)
I have the tech 7 purchased because of it being considered a premium boot but under $400 I have about 15hrs of ride time and love the way they feel so far shifting and breaking feel natural and also comfortable to wear for long periods of time with out any rubbing in any areas
i bought SG12 from RM atv ,3 weeks ago my left foot stuck on a tree root while i was going around 20 km speed, hit the trunk and bounced back it was super painful and i thought broken my ankle and metatarsal bone (i lost the metal cap in front of the boot because of the impact). Unbelievably after checking with Xray everything was in place and all good .that glide hinge system prevented my ankle to snap backwards thats why my leg moved backwards from my upper hip.... i have sore pain afterwards for a week on all my leg up to my knee and quads because the force of the impact , for the best protection buy SG 12 as Chase mentioned
I ride a mixture of single track and MX tracks, and my fox instincts were constantly breaking buckles in trail/track situations. In my time owning them, 6 boot straps and two buckles broke. I moved to the Tech 7's, same ones in the video, and they have held up much better than the instincts. I am converted to the Tech 7's.
Dang, you must be hard on buckles and straps. I've had 4 pairs of instincts over the years and I've had one strap break but no buckles. But glad you found a pair that are holding up better for you. Thanks for watching - Chase
I was going to buy gaernes but tech7 was just do much more comfy I had to take them. I don't get to ride enough to wear out the gaernes. Sidi or fox instinct wasn't available on my shop.
Just got rid of my 1st gen crossfiresi had for 5 yrs and bought the Gray and black fox boots.. they seem pretty dope around the house.. I’ll see how they feel next time I go for a rip and keep you guys posted 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
I currently ride in the tech 7 and I absolutely love the feel and support of that boot. I only have 1 complaint about it, it's an extremely squeaky/noisy boot to walk around in.
That is literally my only complaint about the tech 7, its affordable, extremely comfortable and supportive, good style, and just a very well rounded boot. Just squeaky/noisy to walk in
You can fix that squeak with chain lube, whatever you do just don't use silicone spray, I tried it and the squeak got so loud I couldn't hear the bike! Your real complaint will be when you hit a rock or stump while wearing the Tech 7's, black toes for days.
Ive had the tech 7 and also the sidis, by far I like my instincts the most, cheaper premium boot but great durability but not the best. I love the feel and comfort
Awesome, I really think you'll like them a lot! Be sure to let us know what you think of them after you get to ride in them a bit. Thanks for watching!
I was riding yesterday wearing Tech7's (from 2011) ended up hitting a stump trail riding. Long story short, two fractured toes and two sprained toes. I know if I was wearing any other boot, it would be a way different story. I'll be riding in a day or two. I won't buy any other boots then Alpinestars tech7's
Tech 7's are horrible for protection against those hits. It would be a different story, in say an SG-12, because you may not have broken your toes. Crossfires are good too. Tech 7 is about the same protection level as a sock, press on the side, you can FEEL your toes through the boot!
DUMBEEZY Just wait til you take a stump in the toes! I have a pair of tech 7’s, and I can literally press on the side/top of boot and feel my toes. Crossfires and SG-12’s feel like a ski boot at the toe box, they are a totally different animal.
They are definitely a solid boot. I've been wearing a set for over a year now and don't really have any complaints other than the break in period. Thanks for watching!-Chase
@@rmatvmc keep up the good work on the reviews always watch see what's new and helps me make a decision on what I'm gonna buy. rockymountainatv awalys does a great job only site I shop through
All of these boots are nice, but not indestructible by any means. I had a spiral fracture in my Fibula which required surgery (while I was wearing the SG 12's). The SG 12's are a great boot, but are not a tight seal/ fit IMO. I only wear the Sidi SRS 3's now, and have never had a problem since. Just my opinion...all of them are great and it depends on how they fit your feet.
@@MXJEFF94 Sorry to hear about the surgery. I personally like the Gaerne boots, but i can see if you have a more narrow foot how the Sidi would better suit that rider. Sidi boots have a more slim design and do a great job hugging your feet. Thanks for sharing your feedback!
I’ve owned the SG12’s for about 5-6 years. I liked them ok at first. Though they had a bad pressure point just above ankle which made them very uncomfortable at times. The latching straps are terrible and if you try to tighten the boot super tight (how I prefer), the latch buckles slip/strip and jump to a looser setting. I ordered a new set from the get go and that didn’t help either. Overall, I’m not too happy with mine. Hopefully they’re better now than they were. I cased a jump hard this year and tore ligaments in both feet from hyper expending my ankles. Everything was pretty well healed up. I rode the last 3 days in a row and on hard landings, my ankles are hurting. I feel the boots should be much more supportive for $500-$600 I spent. Definitely going to try something different next time around. I also broke my tib/fib in my SG12’s catching my toe on a dirt clod when I dabbed my foot. Not sure what would have happened with a different boot. But I sure don’t think I could get a worse boot in an A Star or Instinct. The A star 10’s I tried on 5-6 years ago were too slim in the toe. So I’m glad to hear they’re wider now. Maybe they will be a good fit. Tired of ankle issues.
If you are in situations where you may catch rocks and stumps with your feet on the pegs stay away from the Tech 7, they are way too thin up front with NO protection in the toe box. You can literally press on the side of the boot and feel your individual toes. Super comfy until you hit a stump or a rock, then super un-comfy for the next 3 minutes to 3 days to 6 months. Where I ride in Western Canada using Tech 7's virtually guarantees foot injuries. Go Sidi or Gaerne. The first time you nail your foot you would be willing to wear ski boots over Tech 7's, trust me.
I’m confused on whether I should get the new tech 10 or the SG12, what would do you guys think is a better boot? Can you explain what too? Thanks, great video
Francisco, that is a tough question to answer because they both have certain things that I like more than they other haha. Here is a quick breakdown to help you out. For overall durability, I'd say the SG12. Best feel on the foot pegs, Tech 10. Buckles, SG12. Stiffness, Tech 10 takes longer to break it. At the end of the day, both are really good boots. I ride in both. Now I'm sure you're wanting me to tell you which one I like more haha. So let me say this, If I was buying just 1 boot that I wanted to last the longest, I'd get the SG12. If I was buying one based purely on performance and feel, I'd get the tech 10. Hope this helps. - Chase
Rocky Mountain ATV MC thanks for the reply, I did help me a lot, just one question what’s your thoughts on safety? Which one do you think is the safest? Ultimately That’s the most important thing to me Once again thank you soo much for the help!
I ride with the previous gen of Tech 7's. Comfortable, but the buckles suck. I feel dead in the feet with them though still after 6 months. I bought a set of Insticts for this next season. Out of box, comfort is awesome, flex is great. I'm hoping the duratac material helps grip the bike as much as it seems. But I also notice the hinge system does add some bulk to the ankle area and I hope that doesn't have a negative effect for me. I'm hoping to feel the shifter and brake a lot better and have better foot dexterity with them.
The duratac has a lot of grip. I've had 4 pairs of instincts and love them. The hinge does add a little bit of bulk, but I've never had issues with it while riding, doesn't hinder me squeezing at all. If you want good footpeg and brake feel, then you made the right choice. Let us know how you like them. Thanks for watching-Chase
The instant boot has no protection at all. Yeah they may have the most flex and requires no break in time but has no protection. I can bend them all the way forward and and bend them sideways. Many people have broke there ankles and feet in them. Best boots go get with most protection are the sg12s and tech 10s
I agree the more flex the less protection and what he's calling broke in I would call getting close to replacement time I've had way to many leg injuries to chance it!
Please give more info on durability and how long the soles last on each boot. I have fox instincts and I have to send in for resole on left boot every 5-7 rides. I really like what Sidi is doing with the soles.
Every 5-7 rides? That seems very fast to me. Maybe you meant 5-7 months? Truth is, every rider wears soles faster or slower than others. I've had the same pair on instincts with, i'll bet, 40 ours on them and the soles look great. That being said, yes, the Sidis are the easiest to replace. I have the say that my SG12's have been some of the best lasting boots i've used. Leather and plastic is holding up really good. I am riding in some tech 10s right now but don't have a lot of time in them, at least not enough to talk durability.-Chase
in february i was having enduro with my friends, and it"s happened.. i got fracture on my shinbone (my left foot), because the inside part/the right side of my left boot doesn"t have good protection, and i think the inside part off all boots in this world like that...do yall think soo? sorry if my english bad -PeaceFromIndonesia
From what i have read sidi has gone down hill FAST! I just ordered a pair of SG-12. He did not go into detail on how awesome they are. Look into those. They are worth the money.
I actually re-filmed at spotlight on the SG12 that will be up pretty soon, and trust me, I give them a lot of praise. I've been very happy with them. Thanks for watching and glad you like them!-Chase
I'm pretty new to the boot buying stuff, I recently bought a pair of fly mavericks. Was it a worthwhile purchase or a waste of money? If someone could give some feedback I'd appreciate it
Depends on what you're trying to get out of a boot. If you want an inexpensive, entry level boot, then they'll be just fine. For advanced riders, they won't offer as much ankle support and protection as other boots at higher price points.-Chase
I love my sidi ta easy to walk in great for knee pads because you can adjust the shin guards and they last a long time my last pair we're alpinestars tech 10 the sidi for me are a lot better
Awesome vid, i am looking into new boots and I'm really set on the fox instinct boots but i hear a lot of people say they fall apart and don't last and i dont want to keep replacing parts on my boot. any suggestions. Also i wear a 10.5 and i like my boot to fit a little tighter because I feel like it gives me a little better feel on the peg so would an 11 be good in the fox boots? edit: And are the soles replaceable on the instinct boots?
They all offer good impact protection. I've ridden in all of these and they all do a great job of protecting the ankle. The tech 10 I'd say has the best ankle support (flexion) but take a while to break in. Cody Webb even wears the tech 7 in some of his videos. The Sidis would be another great choice. But honestly, they're all good. - Chase
@@rmatvmc thanks for the info. I have see a few recent videos about Sidi quality taking a hit. I like the Alpinestars, hard to pick between the 7 and 10.
How about guys with big calves? I am running the Fox Comp 8 boots as the upper fastener worked with my calves and knee braces. The Alpinestars Tech 7s were super comfy and I loved them, until I had to do up the Velcro at the top. Even without my knee braces, I was near the end of the fastening on the Velcro. Does AStars have a bigger calf size option? Or no?
Kris, the Tech 10 will have a larger leg opening than the 7, but not by much. The two boots with the largest calf opening are the Sidi crossfire 3 and the SG12. I have almost 17" calves and with my knee braces on, those two are the best fitting. The instincts are about the same as the tech 10. Hope this helps - Chase
Man, that's a crappy deal. Do you really feel like the boot is what caused it or do you think the same thing wouldn't happened in other boots too? I'm just curious.-Chase
@@rmatvmc I really like Fox Instinct boots but after this I might switch to Tech 10. IMO if I would had cheaper boots it would have been worse. I have learned that Fox boots don't protect heels.
Depends. I always recommend buying the best boot you can afford. Now I don't think you need to spend 5-600$ on a premium boot, but you can if you want. What is your budget like? If you can do it, I would go with something like the Tech 7, Fox Comp R, or even a Fox instinct on closeout. All three are great boots and are under 400$ and have great protection and comfort. - Chase
Any of the alpinestars and Gaerne boots have a wider footbed. The Fox 180/Comp R isn't too narrow either. The instincts are a pretty narrow boot.-Chase
Man, you gotta get your terminology correct: hyper flexion or hyper extension means going beyond the normal range of a joint- so a good boot will prevent that. Moreover ankles do not extend: pointing the /foottoe is “plantarflexion”, lifting the foot/toe is “dorsiflexion”. So the boots that limit too much motion as the knee bends are limiting hyperdorsiflexion.
If it helps at all I always had an issue with one of my buckles on my tech 7s coming undone, something common with alpine stars, they were comfy though.
Jokerider MX I was the lower ones, I would honestly go with an Italian made boot, check out the Forma predator 2.0s super nice! Alpine stars are made in China.
I wore holes in my Gaerne SG12 soles in all of 8 months on stock KTM pegs. I think the boot itself is very durable but the sole not so much. Then again I cannot compare to any of the other boots.
Man, that is so weird. I've had mine for over a year now and maybe you ride a ton, but my soles have held up great for me. For some reason i'm not very hard on soles though. I see other riders that go through theirs super quick. Did you have them re-soled?-Chase
@@rmatvmc I average between 3 and 4 hours of seat time a week. Around 200 hours a year, maybe that is hard on a boot. They are off getting a re-sole right now. Bought a second pair, to keep riding, on the used market if that tells you how much I like the boot.
I've ridden in all the boots but the Sidi, but I would go with the Tech 10 for the most ankle support. The insert between the buckles offers a lot of support plus the inner boot. Second would be SG12 and then Instincts.-Chase
That is a tough questions because these all are safe boots. Personally, I think they SG12 has some of the best protection for ankles and impacts. But i've ridden in all of these and they're all great options. - Chase
Agreed ^ i have only rode gaerne and have cased many jumps, fallen down, etc and never had any ankle issues from gaerne’s. They last a super long time too i had my sg10’s for over 5 years and just got new sg12’s. Great boot
Regan, I wear a size 9 which is the same size I wear in all other boots. Fox updated the sizing a couple years ago so they wouldn't run small. Now if you're typically right between sizes, then I would go with the larger size. But for me, fit is true.-Chase
Chase, any chance you could reply ranking the height of the toe boxes (sole to top)? I ask as my current boots seem really tall in this area and kill shifter feel. Also, are there any on this list that would not fit around Asterisk Cell 2.0's knee braces? The Cells are on the big side around the shin and take up a lot of space - I'm sure you're aware. THANKS!
Mike, thank you for the comment. I've ridden in all of these except the Sidis (i'll have a pair soon), so here are my thoughts. As far as the actual measurement of bottom of the sole to top of the toe box, I have no idea. But that measurement I don't think would be good to go off of since every boot has a different feel. So here is my ranking for shifter "feel" 1st. Fox Instinct, 2nd Tech 10, 3rd Tech 7 and 4th SG12. The SG12 has a pretty low toe box, but the plastic on top is harder than the others and to me, doesn't have as much feel for shifting and the sole material, although durable, doesn't give as much feel on the footpegs or for braking. I really like the Sg12 but it definitely took longer for me to get used to than the other boot. The Sg12 has an adjustable shin plate and is the best boot if you need the largest opening possible. The instinct has the best feel on the footpegs for shifting and braking than any other boot I've worn. They also have a big enough opening that unless you have massive calves, you'll be just fine with the Asterisk brace. However, the one downside to the Instincts for me is they tend to brake down faster than the others. I don't mean they fall apart, but they just don't have as much support as the others after a few months of riding. Personally, I've worn the same set of Instincts for over a year, taken some big hits and have been fine. The Tech7 is similar is this area. Now the tech 10 in my opinion gives the best blend of both footpeg and shifting feel and great support. The new dampener they put between to two lower buckles really gives good hyper-flexion support. The tech 10 is the stiffest out of the box but they will break in (mine took about 3-4 rides). They also have a plenty large calf opening. My only grief with the tech 10 is that inner bootie. I like the support, but sometimes putting the boot on is a pain in the ass and I have had a little chaffing from the torsion bars on my ankle but nothing that stops me from riding. I'd say the tech7 has the smallest opening. Hope this helps.-Chase
@@rmatvmc since your answer is three years old, what do you say about shifter feel on the Sidi Crossfire 3TA? I’m struggling between the fox instinct X or the Crossfire 3 TA
How would you compare SIDI Crossfire 3 vs. Gaerne SG12 repective (1) Protection (2) Wearing comfort? I ride dual sport on a 790R, so full day rides with technical terrain on a heavy Bike. Looking for most protective boot but still comfortable.
Thomas, for me personally, I'd go with the SG12 for all day comfort and protection. I've had mine for over a year now and they are extremely durable, comfortable and have great protection. My crossfire 3s are great but definitely narrow and I can't wear them all day like I can my SG12s without my feet hurting. Hope this helps.-Chase
@@thomasrosenwirth7035 As far as protection goes, I can definitely recommend the SIDI Crossfire. I have the Crossfire 2 SRS and I have them for 5 years now. Had my foot stuck between a foot peg and tree and the stiff sole saved my foot. Had my 1090 fall right on my big toe with the handlebar side, without an injury. I have wide foot and they fit me well.
Yes, but you won't have nearly as much support or protection. We do sell many boots at lower prices too. Check our the A.R.C. Corona boot www.rockymountainatvmc.com/riding-gear/a.r.c.-corona-boots-p
Do you feel as tho the new tech 10s have updated the issues that have made some guys run the 7 and will now run the 10? Basically do you think the 10 is now fully their “top” boot
Ryan, absolutely! The tech 7 is a great boot no doubt, but if you ask me, the tech 10 is a big step up in construction, support, and protection. I've heard, however, that it is almost too stiff for some riders and people aren't liking that aspect of it very much. If you were to wear these two boots at the same time, I think it's pretty easy to feel the difference. That's just my opinion. I'd go listen to Kris Keefer's podcast he just put up for the new tech. He does a great job of breaking them down from a ride review standpoint.-Chase
Instincts are soo comfy but don’t hold up worth shit. I also ride woods/race gncc’s. They might hold up better on the track but I must say they break a lot
ppatos there’s really no point in doing a review for those vaciar they already did a review on the Fox 180 boots which are the same thing they just changed the name.
I recently filmed a video for the COMP R, just not edited yet. But Fernando is correct. They're essentially the same boot. They just lengthened the straps and renamed them to go along with their new Comp boot. We did a new video so we have one for the Comp R when the 180's are all gone-Chase

I have the Tech 7 and one thing that's really annoying me, is that it's hard to close the upper buckle fitted properly. Btw. I have had the Tech 5 before and I had the same problem. Anybody who can help out?
You really cant go wrong with either boot. The main difference in the Tech 10 is that it has the inner-booties and a bit more protection against ankle injuries. But both soles are dual compound and completely replaceable, if needed. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

i bought SG12 from RM atv ,3 weeks ago my left foot stuck on a tree root while i was going around 20 km speed, hit the trunk and bounced back it was super painful and i thought broken my ankle and metatarsal bone (i lost the metal cap in front of the boot because of the impact).
Dang, that sounds gnarly but glad you're all good! Thank you for sharing that story. The Sg12's are a really good boot!-Chase
Nice! I have two pairs of the instincts and love them. You'll have to let me know how they are after you ride in them for the first time.-Chase
I currently ride in the tech 7 and I absolutely love the feel and support of that boot. I only have 1 complaint about it, it's an extremely squeaky/noisy boot to walk around in.
Well, I guess that's a good complaint to have about a boot haha.
That is literally my only complaint about the tech 7, its affordable, extremely comfortable and supportive, good style, and just a very well rounded boot. Just squeaky/noisy to walk in
My squeak too hahahaha
You can fix that squeak with chain lube, whatever you do just don't use silicone spray, I tried it and the squeak got so loud I couldn't hear the bike! Your real complaint will be when you hit a rock or stump while wearing the Tech 7's, black toes for days.
Ive had the tech 7 and also the sidis, by far I like my instincts the most, cheaper premium boot but great durability but not the best. I love the feel and comfort
Cheap Chinese junk
Prices? Also, please PUT THEM ON and bend your knees to show the pivot/flex. Thanks
Alex Supremo their all ah 500-600$ except for the tech 7’s their 350ish
Prices change so they never say them
Alex Supremo they’re brand new. They’re gonna be stiff as hell.
I bought my first pair at play it again sports they were fly racing boots, and held up quite well. I believe they were Mavericks
Got fox 180s for my first set of boots but after I get knee braces and a neck brace I will invest in some tech 7s
Forma always gets over looked for some reason, best boots hands down !.
Just brought some fox instinct boots, looking forward to seeing how they compare to my gaerne sg10s
Awesome, I really think you'll like them a lot! Be sure to let us know what you think of them after you get to ride in them a bit.

Jason Gaetz that’s bs. I have tech 5s and they seem solid
DUMBEEZY Just wait til you take a stump in the toes! I have a pair of tech 7’s, and I can literally press on the side/top of boot and feel my toes. Crossfires and SG-12’s feel like a ski boot at the toe box, they are a totally different animal.
sg 12 are the best in my opinion durable and stay looking good. protected my feet and ankles on multiple occasions
Any opinion on Forma predator 2.0? Some claim they are even better than Gaerne Sg 12?
I have had the fox instincts for 4 years now feeling like something different but this video has made me even more confused, they all seem good.
Well, what boots are you most interested in? I can answer all your questions! - Chase
@@rmatvmc I''ve always had instincts and they are good but i feel like something different. Cant choose between the tech - 10 and sg12

i've had the gaerne sg12, astars tech8 and the sidi's..
didn't buy fox, they feel to lose
Ultimately That’s the most important thing to me
Once again thank you soo much for the help!
My Tech 7s are 3 years old and going strong can wear all day easily
What about the Thor Boot and the fly racing boot

Damn those Astar and Fox boots are nice...
Can you guys do a segment on helmet fitment for youth?
From what i have read sidi has gone down hill FAST! I just ordered a pair of SG-12. He did not go into detail on how awesome they are. Look into those. They are worth the money.
I actually re-filmed at spotlight on the SG12 that will be up pretty soon, and trust me, I give them a lot of praise. I've been very happy with them. Thanks for watching and glad you like them!-Chase
Need some big WIDE FMX boots for manly men size 12. Any ideas?? LOVED Fox but they just keep getting tighter and narrower every year
The tech 10, SG12, and tech 7 are going to be your widest options in this lineup. The sidis are probably the narrowest, then the instincts.-Chase
@@rmatvmcThank you SO much!!! Took your advice re: Tech7's, LOVE' em. (edited: Jan29 2Q2Q)
What boot has the thinnest toe? From top to bottom. Im looking for one that is thin so shifting isnt a problem. Thank you
Plz put the prices! Its first thing to me to know when im buying boots.
All pretty expensive except the tech7s!
My favorite is SIDI and the best (I think)
Awesome vid, i am looking into new boots and I'm really set on the fox instinct boots but i hear a lot of people say they fall apart and don't last and i dont want to keep replacing parts on my boot. any suggestions. Also i wear a 10.5 and i like my boot to fit a little tighter because I feel like it gives me a little better feel on the peg so would an 11 be good in the fox boots?
edit: And are the soles replaceable on the instinct boots?
I don't feel protected in them.
If you have to recommend a boot and the main requirement is protection (enduro) what would it be. Specifically, ankle protection.
Tech 7 best boot
Fractured my heal bone wearing Fox Instinct boots. Still recovering from a surgery. Ended up getting a metal plate and 13 screws in my heel bone.

@@rmatvmc I really like Fox Instinct boots but after this I might switch to Tech 10. IMO if I would had cheaper boots it would have been worse. I have learned that Fox boots don't protect heels.

How much harder is it to get foot in and out of the boot?
Im 23, just started riding, got a 2010 yamaha 250yzf, which boots do you recommend? Thanks :)
- Chase
Love my Tech 7s
Will give the sidi crossfire 3 a try🤙
Nice choice! Let us know what you think
What are some wider boots? Intermediate to premium
That’s so helpful, thank you
Still rockin some tech 8 and love them but looking to buy so tech 7. Thoughts?
tech seven has more step in comfort, more flex, better buckles and if you don't like any sort of bootie, then they're an awesome choice!-Chase
If it helps at all I always had an issue with one of my buckles on my tech 7s coming undone, something common with alpine stars, they were comfy though.
@@falconemoto6943 Has it been the upper buckle? If yes I'd be really thankful on any help in this problem.
Jokerider MX I was the lower ones, I would honestly go with an Italian made boot, check out the Forma predator 2.0s super nice! Alpine stars are made in China.
Had my tech 7 almost 2yrs not one issue besides squeaky as first day I got them
I wore holes in my Gaerne SG12 soles in all of 8 months on stock KTM pegs.

I have a problem in my ankle after multiple crashes should I go for sidi crossfire 3 or tech 10 boots give me a solution in choice
I've ridden in all the boots but the Sidi, but I would go with the Tech 10 for the most ankle support. The insert between the buckles offers a lot of support plus the inner boot. Second would be SG12 and then Instincts.-Chase
What boot will be safest to help my foot from getting ripped off smashes stabbed twisted or ankle sprains?
That is a tough questions because these all are safe boots. Personally, I think they SG12 has some of the best protection for ankles and impacts. But i've ridden in all of these and they're all great options. - Chase
Agreed ^ i have only rode gaerne and have cased many jumps, fallen down, etc and never had any ankle issues from gaerne’s. They last a super long time too i had my sg10’s for over 5 years and just got new sg12’s. Great boot
How much smaller is the Fox boot??
@@rmatvmc thanks for the SUPER detailed reply! This certainly helps.

Not the boots fault though but now looking to get tech 7s, hopefully I have better luck with them.
