Fun fact: I low key think I played against both you and Calcano at the onslaught prerelease at neutral ground many years ago 😂 been fun to watch your content still, man!
@@balladofathinman0Yeah I think the Lightning Helix are generic "stay alive until you can combo" placeholders for the sideboard cards that can deal with specific threats, and white is good for that. There are a lot of aggro decks that basically can't beat Sheltered By Ghosts (even the ones that play it).
Tangentially related to one of your matches but I'd love to see a re-visit to Synthesizer any time a new neat 3cmc+ artifact comes out. I've been trying both azorius and izzet variants
Seeds of hope is AMAZING in the crab deck, its pretty good when you manage to hit a permanent, even with only 35 or so hits, but when you whiff, its even better, because you get to turbo out crabs.
I understand why they had the white splash. Izzet is in a rough place right now in terms of its removal. Damage based removal is weak against two very common creatures, Screaming Nemesis and big demons. Bounce spells can help with the demons but is fairly weak against nemesis as it has haste. Izzet also lacks enchantment removal which can be helpful in a number of matchups. That being said it might be best to just bite the bullet and accept that your removal suite has flaws rather than make your mana base worse with a bunch of fast lands that come into play tapped past land 3.
This deck feels like a total non-starter without Rona. Doomwake posted a grixis list with a worse sideboard (due to no white) but a MUCH better main with Rona, better removal and maindeck Sheoldred.
Cause the Kiora was at 4/7 on the Descend, so he needed to get 3 more things into the graveyard. Scholar only discards 2, whereas playing Kiora not only discards 2, but also Legend Rule sacrifices herself to get that last card in the yard to activate the Kiora he already had in play.
I'm sure at this point it won't be too long before Kellan goes to visit a retro video game plane and we get a duck hunt dog reference
The emote I want to see the most is one for "I wasn't roping. Arena crashed."

Jim Davis, the secret sixth pit fighter
Thanks for the content Jim!
This deck fascinates me and then I keep noticing the white splash that I do not get.
i think sheltered by ghosts is addictive! i see it splashed into all sorts of builds...

Grixis?
@dagreen92 haven't seen grixis before! Sounds interesting - what does black add? I assume Phyrexian Fleshgorger?
@@junglejayps7532 yepp and premium removal spells
I would love to see a rebrew, cut the white splash and put in unsummons. Arcanis is very cool to see
41:55 honestly I enjoyed the smash cut it was a funny one off
Duck Hunt did have pretty good sounds, Jim. You aren't wrong.
Arcanis needs a planeswalker treatment!
Real
+1 draw three would be cool, but feels kindda busted, exept if he is like 8 manas
@@frenche2480 how bout a 3 or 4 drop that creates an emblem!

Wow Match 1 game 2 was a whole comedy huh
Hey Jim do you think a version of your Skitterbeam/Synthesizer deck is still good in Standard?

Is it Fear of Missing Lands, or Fear of Flooding Out?
ARCANIS MY BELOVED OOOOOHH YEAHHHH
Splashing white for a sub-par removal, with that manabase, seems extremely illogical to say the least.
So fawt theres no views yet! Lets freaking go!!!
This deck...
6:44 am i missing somthing? why not just play scholar?
