Hey man, I've been one of the people asking for a pop filter, so I really appreciate that you got one. The sound quality of these videos have improved immensely over the last few videos, and it's awesome. Thanks for all the content you make.
Hello! Just wanted to say i've been immensely enjoying these daily uploads. I don't play magic anymore, but still enjoy listening / watching to these videos on my second monitor while I work. It's fun to hear your thought process as you go through the drafts / matches.
Yeah the fact it both kills them if they can't deal with it and refill your hand if they can is really hard to beat and makes it much better than cards that only do one or the other. And the fact it's not unreasonable to hardcast is a nice bonus.
I agree, it is sooooo good with so many cards: natural order, dream halls, reanimate spells, sneak attack. And once in a while it happens that you can get up to 7 mana and cast it - I wouldn't bank on that (though a green ramp deck is certainly positioned the best to cast it adn it might be a plan here), but it can happen. I currently have a UWb midrange deck drafted, that has a small reanimator package: 2 discard outlets that I would have played anyway, death and reocurring nightmare (deck is full of creatures and has quite a few ETBs) and atraxa and griselbrand. Thanks to a GUW triland and a fetch I do have green sources without needing to put forests in my deck and I can see it happen that atraxa would be cast maybe once during this draft. And given the nature of my deck I think there is a chance I might have wanted to play the 2 reanimate type spells even without the fatties, just as value cards, so the "package" is pretty cheap to add into this deck As a side note: without LSVs regular drafts I don't think I would have gone the midrange route XD
17:43 I think there's an argument to spec on dark depths here in case you see stage so Prime Time can get both lands. NO for Prime time is a lot more exciting when you get stage + depths. As it turns out you were passed the stage late this pack too
Love the content! Just a bit of feedback, I really like it, when you show of the decks your teammates drafted before playing, just to see what the other decks looked like!
Absolutely splendid👌 Awesome to see just how powerful Atraxa was off of Natural Order! I was genuinely torn on the Birds pick (since it’s such an excellent card) but there’s a reason you’re the pro, Luis. Thanks for the endless river of high-end content!
Agreed, I think the pick is a lot closer in a draft where Craterhoof isn't already gone. You really need one of the two for Natural Order to be at top value.
I thought the burst lightning vs craterhoof pick was madness (and by that I mean very reasonable and smart drafting), but it's worth pointing out that burst lightning ended up finishing almost as many games as hoof does in a draft, lol.
It sounds great luis. audio technica + pop filter is an aboslute power house mic especially for the money. just started watching you about a month ago and its always getting better. Good job, also i love the new bottom border only on your cam looks modern
Hey, I got a shout out at 17:10! To be clear, since you seem to have misunderstood, Mox Diamond is a good pick for the W6/Loam/Crucible deck. It's as good as a shell could possibly be. My point is that when it even underperforms in the best possible circumstance maybe it's time to reconsider first picking it for decks that are not as well suited to use it.
@@thomaskauffman250 He clearly misunderstood because he was arguing that the mox was a good pick for the W6/Loam/Crucible deck, which was never the question.
I think Survival of the Fittest still has a place in the cube. It's a great tool for Channel decks and reanimator decks with a decent creature count. And it has fun interactions with Grist on either end.
First, thanks for all the awesome content. What is going on with retrofitter foundry though? You take it highly and in so many games I've never seen it do something other than make a token or two. It seems so slow for the cube
Outside of the combos he mentioned (Urza, Tolarian academy, Gaea's cradle) I also never see it doing all that much, but I've seen it win games very quickly when either of those other 3 cards where present... But of course take that with a grain of salt, given that I've played maybe 5 drafts this cube season XD (saw it once in action with academy and the 2nd time with cradle and it was a major problem for me, haven't had the chance to try it yet...)
❤ Atraxa on all formats ❤ Vintage cube, standard, arena cube, etc... If there's a good way to get Atraxa into play before dying, it's what I want to be doing
Is there any plan to go back to the AlphaFrog list? It feels like hearing "this pack is awful" is a much more common occurrence with the MTGO list and without initiative/monarch stuff.
@@nekrataaliHeck yeah, these are the big brain plays we're looking for! Surely this will be a very impactful interaction in any game where a player lands a Craterhoof while having a Minsc & Boo in play, since that's such a medium play on its own!
@33:20 - Why did you decide to do 5 damage to the creature? You could have done 5 to the player, then kicked burst the next turn for lethal. Please tell me whyyyy LSVVV.... I need you to skill me up.
Legendary Creature - Elder Dragon. Flying, trample. When Dragonlord Atarka enters the battlefield, it deals 5 damage divided as you choose among any number of target creatures and/or planeswalkers your opponents control.
Allright, 4:25 I'm making the comment at this exact time stamp, where he picks Retrofitter. I'm gonna count the amount of times it got played and if it actually wins the game or does anything at all. EDIT: He ended up cutting it LMAO. Exactly what I expected. Overrated
There is something really weird going on with that card. People talk about as if it was the second coming of Jesus and I've never seen it do anything, in these videos and from opponents om mtgo
@@Blyf I commented it on a video 3 days ago as well. He picks it EVERYTIME bro I swear, and it ends up being cut, being discarded for better card selection, the game is over before he can cast it, or he casts it, and it doesn't do anything but make a token to block and eventually lose. Yes, he's right when he says it's a great piece along side Cradle. But you're not gonna cast it turn 1 over a mana dork, into mana dork, into another creature, which at this point makes your Cradle tap for 3 allready. Then comes the big stuff and you'd rather cast a Hoof or a Titan of that mana instead of a Retrofitter. Yes, he's right when he says you can get it with Urza's Saga. But let's be honest, you're more likely to get Sol Ring, Mox, Lotus, Lion's Eye, Divining Top. So yes, it's all valid points, but also not. I've seen him call better cards than Retrofitter, horrible or 'not playable'. LOL If it's his pet card, then allright. But you're cubing against top level players. Don't rate that card so high.
It's a team draft. Hate drafting is much better here since you are denying powerful cards from the opposing team, for your entire team, not just one person in a pod that you might never play. He also has already adressed this.
I still can't get over the fact that we are getting blessed with LSV Vintage Cube every single day now.
Truly, what do I do with all these treasures?
It feels like Christmas
Especially with all of these red/green decks
Right my favorite part of the year happens every day now!

Atraxa was an all star. Having top end that finishes games and draws you cards is real strong
Yeah the fact it both kills them if they can't deal with it and refill your hand if they can is really hard to beat and makes it much better than cards that only do one or the other.
And the fact it's not unreasonable to hardcast is a nice bonus.

LSV is very understandable at 1.5x :)
@@Sidnvyeah, but then you only get to enjoy it for 2/3 as long
LSV: oracle has not impressed me lately.

Really enjoying the post-draft analysis and generosity towards opponents. Very classy as always Luis.
I love what Atraxa has added to cube. Natural Order especially needed the boost.

so great to see Nathan on these. miss playing at Eudo with him and the rest of the crew!

Pop filter is nice, but getting rid of the thumping sound was epic.

Atraxa carries, as she does. Card's crept up in my pick order and now I'm passing archon AND big grizz over it.

Is there a cube list somewhere? My play group needs to update their cube and would love some suggestions
