Totally agree. For standard as well. The risk is that downsides could be mitigated too effectively and break the card easily. But it feels like they could explore that space a lot more.
@samsprague3158 In the example I gave, sure you can run Amulet of Vigor, but that weighs down the amount of goodstuff cards you can run. It gives the design team more freedom to differentiate cards like Tatyova and Aesi.

Prismatic Piper also exists, but without another partner it's worse than any of the other options. Edit: For some reason Piper and Faceless one seem to fall under "Special" rarity - like basic lands... which were allowed for the common rarity? Unless there is a dedicated common basic land in print it still seems a bit off.
Something something commander draft set maybe? All the card filters say they are common and they it doesn't bend the rules more than secret lairs and box toppers. I see no difference.
@@kallewirsch2030 I don't know why but Faceless One is not considered a Common. If you look on Scryfall, its rarity is listed as "Special" and it's not legal in Pauper. The backgrounds are common but you need a commander to use them with.
Swapping the foil full art for the non foil regular art off of a hand discard was absolutely hilarious. I’d totally do something like that. I put the “bling” in to show it off so a “same” card for a “same” card swap is all cool a with my group, especially when you’re discarding one.
Another option for an all-commons deck would be running Faceless One with one of the five common Backgrounds, technically. It would not be a strong pairing, but it would give you two colors!
For what it's worth, I've been brewing a bunch of decks that are only Commons for EDH, and I would allow Richard to play any card that has also been printed at Common on Magic Online. That would expand his list to the nine vanilla allied-guild Legends out of Legends plus Ramirez DePietro. I also allow Prismatic Piper and Faceless One so you can actually monocolour other decks.
