The Seamoth isn’t any slower than normal. You’re just exploring much more open areas with large points of reference, so it just gives the illusion that you are moving slower.

Episode count is going to vary wildly based on length, how much help is allowed, and how much gets edited out. Based on other blind playthroughs I've seen, you are progressing at least as quickly other players. I wouldn't worry about taking time to enjoy the journey :)
Yeah. I've seen some playthrough around 30 episodes, and that's with about an hour long episodes. Now, I've seen about 50 before, but they did only about half an hour each.
1:08:09 brine pools are a real world formation where the sulfur becomes denser than the water it forms in causing it to settle along the seafloor, they are something thats always fascinated me and i thought was a really cool addition to the game

Hope this doesn't cross the "backseating" line, but since you mentioned the water production is a problem and you did wonder what to do with the salt, remember you can make bleach...
But yay! Good episode! Scanned the Ghost Leviathan and without the stasis rifle! Props for that. And you call yourself scared? Also, you discovered the Great Truth of Subnautica: "When in doubt, go deeper" 😀 You are doing great. There's no rush. Plenty of youtubers who have run up to 50 episodes in their Subnautica playthroughs...
You don't need to take the salt out of the machine, it still keeps making just water.
@@HenrikDanielsson Sure, but don't forget: 1 salt + 1 coral makes 1 bleach, and 1 bleach makes 2 medium sized water bottles. Thus, a full cycle of the water filtration machine gives you 50 + 50 + 30 + 30 + 30 + 30 = 220 water. That covers way more than your needs so can build a surplus storage.
@@pembrokeisland9954 True, but that takes effort, and with just one of these machines somewhere near where you spend most of the time, you already get more water than you'll ever need in the full bottles.

@@andyman286 Well, never had to worry about power in any base I built. Plenty of solar or thermal around if you don't want to refill a bio reactor. Nuclear works of course, if you're so inclined.

How do I say this non-spoilery? Well I've watched quite a lot of playthroughs after I played the game myself and I've seen all kinds of different progressions in the game. Some people unlock almost the entire technology tree before progressing the story very far, others are almost done with the story and still lack technology that seems relatively basic. That is what, in my eyes, makes this game so very interesting to watch other people play. You're not slow, because you didn't know how to get aerogel.
I love your slow and methodical approach to the game. I've had it with those hyperactive players that mostly ignore the PDA, and then complain that the game "doesn't make sense" or "doesn't explain anything." Always the highlight of my weekend when one of your episodes comes out.
One thing i want to say is the external growbeds are great for resources you need from the deep that can grow so you dont have to go back and fourth. . . It just cuts down on gathering times not sure if you will use this info or not
he thinks that growbeds are just cosmetics and his mod probably deletes comments about planting, so...

I like planting a bunch of glowing plants to make my base look nice at night.
Indoor wall planters and pots are cool and useful too!
The sonar is fun and useful, but don't ignore what's around you to focus in the distance. You've missed quite a lot of important resources because you were focusing on what the sonar was telling you. :)
Plus, the sonar uses tons of power, so...
You can grow the gel sacks in an underwater grow bed, just knife them for the seeds. 👍
Other things will grow when planted. I love gardens.

I hope it's gonna take you more than 11 episodes because I enjoy this playthrough a lot.
I had the same concern about how long it was taking me to play this game. Some big TH-camrs played this in early access, then when it was released, they did another playthrough for the full release. Some of those playthroughs were like 11 to 15 videos long. I feel like your pace is going good. I just finished the game and it took me 34 videos. Regardless, your audience is loving your playthrough. Just keep at it man!
At the beginning of the series, we can perfectly observe why Subnatica works. A goal is given. There are resources nearby. Now you have the resources to go further and deeper.
7:25 Preventative Bug Comment: Be mindful of parking your Seamoth too close to land, as it may "drift" into the island. There are console commands to "warp" your seamoth out if that happens, but best to avoid that by parking one seamoth's length away. Also, since you have already warped before. Good idea to save prior to a warp, as a crash may occur as a bug. They may have fixed both of these, but I have encountered both issues on my playthroughs.

does it clip into the land sometimes? I've found if it gets 'beached' i can use my propulsion cannon and that will help move it back into water - but that wouldn't help if the seamoth is INSIDE the land, haha
It happened to me with the prawn suit, it got stuck under de floor, i had to make another one
A small control tip when using the fabricator: If you hold down shift it will keep the menu open allowing you to ready the next thing to fabricate. It's not really explained anywhere in-game, but it's something all speedrunners use, of course.

Idk why people thought you needed aerogel before this? The way you found it lies within the progression of the game and how you've been coming upon items. The game is fun in that way, b/c when you find a new recipe that contains a new ingredient you haven't seen, it then makes your mind think "ok, now I have to explore more/deeper to find this" which then sort of encourages you to naturally stumble upon even more ingredients and scannable things. Now...what I would be concerned with is if you hadn't found your plasteel ingot recipe by now :P
Also, your pace is great. I'm speaking for myself (but likely many others would agree), that I will continue to watch your subnautica playthroughs, no matter the length of time/# of episodes! You're a gem, Lukael!

I never had issues with them and I consider them equal to stalkers.

Yeah, the music in the game is really cool. Take all the time you want man. Subnautica is an experience. Don't rush it. My first playthrough took forever and the second one even longer because I wanted to build bases everywhere (and because I'm a scary cat 😅) Also: growbeds.. Just saying 😊❤🎉
Markplier, Jackseptic Eye and IGP helped to promote the game so much when it was in early access they actually got each an Easter Egg inside the game.
Every time you go down to the cave, there is a PDA in the courtyard of DEGASI building. And it drives me crazy that you don't see the light every time and take it from there :) And now it's time for you to build a big room for yourself and start a garden. Planting and growing something might make your job a little easier.
There is a mod that give you the topographic map of the Seaglide on the other vehicles if you feel like it. There was no logical sense why the Seaglide had it but not the larger vehicles so I used it.
hey man love your content,i suggest you start planting your plants like:gel sack and blood oil can be planted,id you hit thr gel sack with your knife you will get the seed and can plant even more,hope this helps.

@52:25 The scanner room only have what you've loaded in during current play session. So you basically have to go around areas and have the item nearby and loaded first.
I'm so happy you tried the active sonar. Aside from the mandatory depth modules it's my favorite module in the game. With how many predators are attracted to light it's a huge part of being able to move around without attracting unwanted attention as well as providing better visibility at longer ranges than the actual lights ever could.
Sonar is definitely a lifesaver!
Your attitude about the game has changed a lot over the episodes. We've gone from "I'm reloading because I heard something scary" to "get back here and stop biting me so I can scan you" lol I'm enjoying the playthru.
I remember you got blueprints for a trash can and vending machine in an older episode. Both are functional :)
Whenever it comes time for me to go down to the lost river biome I always bring the stasis rifle, enough batteries, and my knife so I can kill the ghost leviathan juvenile so I can explore in peace.
btw, there are many imperfections in this game that can cause confusion. Like creatures clipping through walls (the bug you encountered with the Ghost levi, and sometimes they even get stuck in the walls that the only thing you can here are the roars), PDA announcements/radio communications that get triggered way after you've already found out what it's about (because they only activate once you reach a certain area), and the flash of purple you saw at the start of the video (it's a vfx that appears when an entity is set free from the stasis rifle's... stasis(?).

A Reapers Roar can be heard from far away. So you hear it almost everywhere.
At some Point, its less your Tech-Level and more your bravery, that hinders your Progress^^ well... and maybe environmental issues XD
You did something special to this Portal at 12:50, thats why its active, riiight?^^ If you find another Portal, where you can do the same special trick, another Portal should probably activate.

The Blood Oil is from a Plant, right? All the other Plants so far gave you Samples or Seeds. So i wonder..... what is Blood Oil to its Plant?
Still remember my first Visit in the Cave-System. Got lost and drained almost my entire Powercell until i found a way out xD
I'm not sure if you see this tip as spoiler, but you can grow water, -plants. Try it, it can help to collect the ressources easier.

I'm so happy you build the sonar - I worried after you dismissed it in an earlier episode, but I just hoped you come back to it at some point and hey, you did. Feels like it really opens up the game. No more suprises lurking in the dark! Hopefully. 😅
Also, man, I was holding my breath when you just jumped out of your seamoth to scan a bloody leviathan. Guess the fear of the unknown really is bigger than fear of anything that's directly in front of you.
Also, please don't worry too much about people telling you that you "should" know or do this or that. Everyone finds stuff in their own pace, that's the beauty of watching a playthrough. It's so interesting to see what other people discover first and/or miss until the end of the playthrough, in contrast to how our own gameplay went.
I know I just got one, but can't wait for next week's episode. Keep facing your fears, it leads to the best discoveries!
MOD REVIEW: Info about an implementation detail that plays like a bug. You decide.

The scanner room only lists things that have been loaded into the game at least once. That means when you first load in, hardly anything will show. As you travel nearby, things will load in and start being listed.
It's confusing as hell and feels broken, but makes sense once you understand what's going on. There's no in-game reason the items disappear when you save/load.
dont forget to knife useful plants for seeds, then you can grow them at home.
The seamoth is always the same speed. It is not slower than before, you're just travelling longer distances.

That was one of the smoothest ghost juvenile scans I’ve seen. Got that done quick with only one bite.

The salt in the water machine can be left there. It will fill 2 slots with salt and two with water.
Some people claim it work slower if you leave the salt, but I've timed it to be exactly the same.
Anyone else notice that the gold that clipped through the floor when he broke shale at 13:47 is visible on the lower floor at 15:32 :P

I absolutely love the pace at which you're exploring the game. Scanning everything, reading everything, and putting the story together piece by piece.
Loved Mapo's playthrough of this as well. However, his approach to this was very different. Very objective driven and straightforward. I much prefer your play style as it is methodical in its approach, which I feel helps a game like Subnautica much more than rushing through it.
I've seen playthroughs of people who don't scan anything, don't read the PDA and then complain that this game doesn't make sense, or are generally confused as to what to do next.
It's okay for the episodes to be longer and more in number when you're playing like you do (which I love). Eg:- Benjamight Gaming's Subnautica playthrough was 33 episodes long. And I enjoyed every single one of those as well. The PDA was his best friend :D
None of us would mind if your playthrough episodes go into their thirties as well 🎉
Ps:- I don't know if this would count as back seating, so I'll keep it very vague, but you should really try your hand at farming in this game as well 😉
As for the Resources yo stopped the playthrough on : I could recommend building an OutSide Grow Module to grow the Deep shrooms, Blood kelp and Spore Sacks without getting to deep or far away fom your base. For Long journeys I coul only recommend another upgrade for the Seamoth a Storage module for all the extra stuff you come across in the ocean. )))

you can plant some bloodoil outside your base in those big planting crates things you can make from blueprint. Anyway you can pant anything you find usufull like deepshrooms.

They're almost always there, in my experience.
Never got even 1 in 5 playthrughs in this area. Very weird.
It's funny how easy it is to overlook stuff in this game. Even just in this episode there was lots of environmental stuff overlooked. I did the same on my first playthrough. I overlooked things so many times before I finally learned to see them.

You might want to make some windows in your bedroom around the sides. (Which might also require removing things, making the window, then putting the things back). Up to you of course but I thought you might like the aesthetic since you wanted the glass dome.

I have found that bases often need multiple power sources, both in type and quantity. You're correct the water filtration unit is SUPER power hungry. Now that you've figured out aerogel, there's another power option available to you that I think you forgot about.

I would recommend making the Scanner Room HUD chip, it is what makes the scanner room invaluable; the map is useless as you said. I would also suggest doing one range upgrade and 3 speed upgrades for the scanner room, just don't forget to turn it off when you're done looting.
Wouldn’t 4 range upgrades be ways better for efficiency?
I really like the scanner room map. I've used it to find lots of caves and interesting terrain features. Speed upgrades are pretty much useless, though. You can't collect all of the marked items faster than it can mark more even without any speed upgrade. I always go for range so the scanner room reveals resources in a (almost ridiculously) wider area.

1:05 I loved Mapo's playthrough of Subnautica. Everyone who plays Subnautica has their own take of it. His was a no-nonsense playthrough. I did like it. I love yours as well and your take on the game. Everyone has a different commentary of the game.

you have yet to fully realize the scanner rooms usefulness, if you make a new base you should put more effort into the scanner room there
It's so cool to see you go deeper and find new biomes and new plants and animals. It's sad that some people feel the need to hold your hand and tell you what to do a lot of the time.

All the information you learn in these alien bases are pieces of the puzzle. It will all make sense in time.

Man, there is so much stuff I wish I could tell you to make your life easier in subnautica.
I would not consider this a spoiler .. but I'll just say this as a pro tip: along with picking up certain biological items, you can also see what happens when you hit them with your knife 😁
Again a nice episode, thanks. 😊 In my opinion your speed is really good. You're actually progressing quite a bit faster than I initially expected in the first episodes. For comparison I went for yet another hardcore mode playthrough after your previous episode ( 😁), and knowing pretty much everything there is to know about the game, my normal playthroughs take around 10 hours. (Not speedrunning, and usually building two or so bases). And for comparison, some blind playthroughs I've kind of liked have been way slower. F.ex. lil indigestion (75 ~30min episodes), ChristopherOdd (40 ~1 hour episodes), About Oliver (39 ~1hour episodes). So take your time, no need to worry if you're too fast. 🙂
Also one comment about the scanner room, since it's never explained anywhere and in pretty much a limitation of the game engine: All the areas in the game are loaded only when you enter them. The scanner room shows you all the things in it's area that have been loaded to the game memory, so it might be missing a lot of options f.ex. when you've just entered the game and the game hasn't loaded all the things around you. You pretty much need to swin a wide circle around your base to get the full options what to scan.
Also. "With this thing we can go as deep as we want". I laughed out loud. 😁Yeah, that's not going to be deep enough.
I was so glad you finally crafted the sonar. So helpful for those scary open water scenarios you so despise. I was so sad when you kept dismissing it in previous episodes, assuming it was just a map like the seaglide or scanner room. But that’s the joy of blind playthroughs. You discover something helpful every episode.

I would love to help you out with your power issues and tie it up with your food and water even better but I’ll let you figure it out. Maybe next episode I’ll see more heads in the pda smiling back as you discover how they can help you. Or seeing your head in other places while editing that answer your own questions. You do have the means to help yourself, it’s just a matter of materials and fabrication. More solar panels sounds like a good plan for the day time at least.

Now that you're starting to explore the deeper areas of the planet, I think it's a good time to leave this comment warning you about an annoying glitch that can happen in one area and telling you how to avoid it. I'll be mentioning a vehicle and location you've already heard of in logs and no spoilers beyond that. It's up to you whether or not to read it.
The glitch happens in the Thermal Power Facility with the Prawn Suit. You can bring the Prawn Suit inside the Facility, but if you leave the area with the Suit still in there while it's unloaded, it will get stuck in the ground with no way to get it out, and you'll be permanently screwed out of using it (I think it'll be possible to remove upgrade modules and storage, but it's still pretty annoying). If you use a Prawn Suit to reach that Facility, make sure to always take it with you when you leave, and you'll also want to save right before exploring it in case you forget.
Great progress in this episode! I love the sonar module for the seamoth. You wouldn't believe how much i can relate to the "I wish i brought a beacon" situation 😅

No spoilers but a couple quick tips that might help -
I'm not sure if you've done this or not yet but if you haven't messed around much with the fabricator that comes built in to the scanner room its worth a look, theres a very nice piece of equipment there that'll help you a ton with finding resources
I'm really glad you found the sonar, one of the best mods in my opinion. Id recommend giving the seamoth predator defense system mod a try, some people don't like it because it uses energy but oh man it is worth at least trying it once for the experience. I'll leave the discovery up to you, but i promise you're going to feel like an absolute badass when you use it
Interesting how opening the pda used to pause the game. Oxygen stops going down, predators stop attacking.. kind of immersion breaking. Wonder when that got updated..
Check your save file. It has the days you’re spent in game. I was at 100 a few days ago. Probably put another 20 on since then. My playthrough is a first time and mostly blind.
I have built the prawn and cyclops and about 6 extra basic habs just to scan. I’ve also built upgrades for the vehicles. As far as exploring I’ve done a lot more then you but at the moment haven’t really expanded the storyline much. It’s been awhile since I’ve gotten a radio message…
I have avoided the area I know there are reapers…

I think your progress is perfectly fine. You take your time and that's exactly what makes your playthrough so appealing. So, don't worry.
But one thought, if I may... I am getting the feeling that there is a maybe little too much time between the play sessions. It seems like you may have forgotten some information that could have helped you in some situations and maybe let you put together more puzzle pieces concerning certain things by now and give you more of a feel for the... overarching theme? (I don't know how to translate "roter Faden" into English, sorry).
Around a week between sessions, just like the episodes! I would like to play more often, but sadly don't have time 😓

Really enjoyed again, you are doing very well because you are reading all the info and scanning all the things! Again, I suggest to go through your blueprints and make everything you can at least once, I think it would really help you. And don't forget that different fabricators make different things, so you need to check all of them. Don't forget about using bleach to make your water, it's much better than catching bladderfish. Did you forget that you have storage on your seamoth? Always nice to have that on your explorations, and the one most important tip I would give to any player of this game: always have a beacon with you. I hope you are still enjoying yourself, you really made a lot of progress in this 2 hours, and it's nice to see the contrast between the first episodes when you never used the seaglide to now automatically pulling it out. Zipping around gathering all the mats and talking to the stalkers, you've gotten into the groove, and glad you enjoyed the disco music, so fun!!

Ignore the people claiming you should have the Aerogel blueprint. There's a reason you don't and you'll know why as soon as you get it. I'm 40 mins in currently, so you may discover it later.
