- Hello everyone and welcome back to my blind playthrough of Subnautica! In today's video, I spend a very long time alternating between wanting to build something, going out to get the resources, and then forgetting what it is I'm trying to build.... but then we take a deeper dive and finally get to the Disease Research Facility!

For every comment I get about freeing the cuddlefish I'm gonna leave them in my locker even longer! 😈😈😈
There's always a bioreactor...
@@danethorson7992 Haha! Came here to say this.
@LukaelPlays At least free the poor thing before you leave 4546B. 😅
Lukael I thi k you'll appreciate this Markiplier rant:
th-cam.com/users/clipUgkxVNDOlMRjM8zcbqVH5l6WL7GZ8_WS4k-b
Backseating is legitimately like 80% of the comments I get on this series lol people just HAAAAATE that I'm not playing in the OPTIMAL way
Feed them to a Reaper, that's a much cooler pet anyway >:)
"ugh are you kidding me I don't have copper ._." - said by every single person who has played Subnautica ever lol
Or silver.
Reefback are a reasonable source for them
Not I. I'm always drowning in copper. He needs to use the scanner more. Makes resource gathering too easy.
@@jupiterthree5228 how long have you been playing? I know that for me I didn't even build an actual base on my first playthrough and didn't use the scanner until my third. Even when I do and gather up a locker full once I'm low I think "oh let me build a new base" and realize I don't have enough copper so I feel like realizing you don't have enough for a project right after finishing another one is a pretty common experience
CAN I GET AN AMEN?
@@tomesofawesome8041 Men is plural. How can you have a men?
28:20 Dude just went to sleep in a de-energized base with no oxygen.
Slept even better than usual!
since his base is sticking out of the water, there is no need for oxygen pumps.
Ah yes, the forever nap
Actually sleeping in an unpowered base causes no harm. One of those scientific oversights that save on memory and processing power
@@daKwolf this actually works in real life too!
I'm just saying this in case this is a confusion due to 2nd language scenario, but just because something sank doesn't mean it was on the surface. A submarine 500m under water can sink to the sea floor. The Alien facility was suspended by cables in that cavern and when the cables broke it sank to the floor.
Ah yeah that makes sense!
You also have an active volcanic area, they do tend to create land masses over time. Look at the Hawaiian islands.
Captain Lukael:Looking a way to solve energy deficiency desperately!
Acid mushrooms chilling outside waiting to be put in bioreactor
Lolol. So many times in this episode your base goes, "Emergency power only, oxygen production offline," and you go, "alright, I guess that means it's time to lay down in this oxygen-free room for the long sleep."
Life hack!
The reason you've become more forgetful is probably brain damage from constantly sleeping without any oxygen around you :P
🤣🤣
Since you were wondering why it seemed to hard to attach base pieces, you can’t attach them to walls with reinforcements, windows, wall items like the plants or anything that touches lockers. Considering your walls are so full that’s why you can’t attach anything properly
True!
Hope our boy experiments with growing his own plants, would help with the rarer plants that he needs. Blood oil and deep shrooms and such.
lol, "I wish I had a bigger aquarium, all I have is this giant tank for growing creature eggs" I'm dying
But I don't want to hatch eggs in the same aquarium where I'm already keeping grown creatures lol
@@LukaelPlays understandable. Some fish eggs can be quite appetizing ^^ (kaviar or œufs de lompe anyone? Excuse my French)
Same. When he asked if there was a bigger aquarium, I thought "yes, it is called the Alien Containment". Heh.
"You can jump..?😯" joke is still good)
28:17 - It's a good thing you don't need oxygen while sleeping. 😄
Lifehack!!
You keep using your sonar even when you're in shallow water or facing a wall. Each time you do that uses about 1% of your Seamoth's power supply. That's why you're running out of power so fast.
The two cuddlefish in the locker are just so sad...
😢
They deserve it for their crimes.
I think some people already commented it, but the alien containment unit is an aquarium:) you can just keep the fish inside or built a Secound one of you want to keep them separate - setting them free in the ocean is also an option of course ;)
I‘m looking forward to the next episode! Please free the cuddle fish from the locker tho lol
Theme of the playthrough.
"I should have built that much earlier"😂
Very relatable though 😅
my first playthrough exactly the same
Man. This is SUCH a good playthrough. Your analyses and speculations are seriously next level smart. That's not to say your guesses are right about everything (understandably, of course) but you're doing such an incredible job of deciphering the clues and wondering about the right kinds of things and making sense of the sci-fi jargon they throw at you, and just I'm so loving this. So far one of the best playthroughs I've ever seen of this game -- thanks for doing this!
Thank you kindly!
Seriously! Can't tell you how many I've watched where the streamer is like, "I had to look up a guide" or "I just don't know what to do next". And then they have like 40+ unread entries in the databank.
Lukael gets it though. Everything the player needs to know is right there!
Better a cuddlefish in a tank than two in the locker. But maybe freedom is best after all.
You can scan the big skeleton inside the Disease Research Facility. You also went past another cool scannable skeleton on your way to the facility
You can see her so clearly at 1:28:53
The facility was attached to the walls. You just saw the broken metal, it sank as a result.
For a second as you opened the bioreactor I thought the crash fish was going inside. Good to see you use that stasis rifle to test out the capabilities for science and hope you discover many more details the game provides.
Love how you got to the cave entrance and then instead of just going in you decided to go to enforcement platform to find the cave entrance you've just been to. Classic Subnautica moment right there.
My Dynamic Scanner Blips mod makes the HUD chip way more useful by changing the size of the blips based on their distance and it also shows the distance
I finally caught up with the current episodes! Thank you for such a thoughtful playthrough! The game feels very different when you read the PDA.
I did the yellow/black seamoth theme too! Makes it way easier to find in the water plus once you get that perimeter defense system it really..........stings 😁
Creature Eggs: Gotta Hatch 'Em All !
One day I hope I come home from a long day at work. Open the cupboard to get something and see living fish staring out at me. 😆 🤣 😂. Sticking a fish in your locker is something I never thought of doing. Love it! Xxx
The plot thickens! Deeper, deeper, figuratively and literally... 🙂 Since you are missing the Cyclops blueprints, maybe consider other vehicles you can build and see how deep they can go? ...and, yeah, as you noticed yourself the sonar is a power-hog but still one of the more useful devices, so worth it, I think.
Ahh, the quartz episode. 10/10.
A cool challenge for you would be to try to find one of every egg or small creature and put them in your Alien Containment haha.
I suggest you cultivate plants that are in dangerous areas or hard to reach. You can plant them in growbeds and some land flora can be planted in pots. Made my own little deep sea garden near my shallows base and did the same with plants from shallower waters when I made my deep sea base.
Some plant materials have different colored icon backgrounds; purple with cyan edges for plantable aquatic flora and lime-dark green gradient for plantable land flora.
Well if I had a dog, I would not lock them down in a storage. especially those ones who are nearly extinct and need emotional connection for growth.
Some alien containment tips:
You can stack multiple alien habitats on top of each other inside multipurpose rooms also stacked.
The only place you can keep fish grown in one is inside one, releasing it into the wild, or (for most of them) inside a bioreactor
Fish released into the wild are a lot less aggressive towards you than their wild counterparts
You can put multiples of the same fish inside an alien containment and they will breed for more - useful for food, water or even power with bioreactor
One thing to add to this: the game doesn't tell you anywhere but there is a limit to how many creatures you can have in one single ACU. I believe it's 10 small creatures "worth". How I mean that is that it calculates based on the inventory size of the fully grown fish. If it's 1x1, it uses one of the 10 slots. 2x2 use 2 of the 10 slots, 3x3 use 3 of 10, etc. Capacity increases by 10 for every level you add to the ACU. I tend to build huge tanks with one of everything. I even use my ACU as an elevator haha. But if you exceed that limit of 10 per level... well... I'm not going to say what happens but... yeah.
The brine rivers are cool. And exist in our oceans which is even more awesome
Really cool of nature to pay homage to Subnautica like that!
Everyone starts the game jumping at every sound, and ends the game backtalking reapers and I love it. Hearing you mock the crabsnakes while you swim right past them is such a flip from when you initially were terrified to even enter their area.
It really do be like that 😄
That cuddlefish moment is so funny. Do you store your cats in a locker too?
Love your playthru so far ❤ i really recommend building the prawn suit and getting the grapple and drill arm. Soon youll need to enter depths beyond the seamoths maximum depth range, you need the prawn and/or the cyclops to explore them. I tend to prefer the prawn as its faster and more mobile then the cyclops but theres no reason not to use both. Good luck! 🎉
@55:50 It is your spamming of the sonar that is draining your power cell. It will use 2 energy each time you use it which is 1% of your cell at the moment.
Ignore the cuddlefish comments. I get why its mentioned alot in other comments, but play at your own pace and figure it out in your own time. Its not the end of the world, despite what other comments say lol.
Really enjoying your playthrough style, thank you for avoiding spoilers and trying for a genuine blind playthrough.
Hunting for cyclops parts is a rite of passage for subnautica players. The seasoned players know where to go, you'll get there too, dont feel like you're failing there.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: keep exploring. New directions, a biome you haven't combed though thoroughly, etc. There's neat things to be found in every biome. I still surprise myself and I'm a veteran player!
And dont feel bad about forgetting a tablet or beacon, I'm sure everyone has done that at some point lol. That and never having enough copper and silver. Ugh, the constant grind.
Great video man. Keep up the good work!
Wooo I’m so happy for another Subnautica video to dive into after a long day! ❤
1:10:11 I always thought it was funny that even with pinning recipes I still had no clue at times why I was building something 😆 Other times I'd go out for one resource, fill up my entire inventory with OTHER things and then 🤦♀when I realized I didn't have the one thing I needed to grab
1:14:16 Look at them!!! 😍
1:40:50 This happened in my game too with the music cutting out randomly: Idk if it is just a normal bug but it happened even when out of my PDA, sort of loses the immersion when it cuts out so suddenly lol
1:43:03 🧟♀uh ohhhhhh
Congrats on scanning the Reaper! 🙌
Happy 10th episode 🎉 Excited to see what's next!
Oh man, it gets really bad in the 12th episode I recorded yesterday ahahah like I go out looking for a resource, grab other stuff, come back.... I'm like wait.... why did I go out again??
Thank you Kelly!
Bonjour Capitaine ! Very nice progress today ! Here is a tip if you wish : The large multipurpose room was only added in the game after a few months of the release and can be very interesting. Another thing, i consider the wall lockers to be better because they don't need glass, can be put on walls and can be labelled. They hold slightly less stuff though. There is so much else i wanna tell but i respect your wish. I thought these ''hints'' wouldn't be so bad. Keep up the good work !
It is not interesting. Is has been brought from the Below Zero and i personally consider it lore-breaking. Because Subnautica rule was - you get what you scan. If you get something, it exists in the game. There is no large room in the first game's world whatsoever. Also glass ceilings. They both exist in second game only.
@@danethorson7992 Not at all what i meant but ok. Never finished Below Zero personally
@@danethorson7992The large room is still lore friendly. You don't scan a scanner yet have one of those right away.
You also don't need to scan connection corridors, hatches, windows, nor solar panels.
The PDA says the blueprints are 80% corrupted, not completely corrupted.
its that time of the week again ❗❗
I felt like I was watching Dora the explorer when you were trying to remember what the quartz was for! Im Literally yelling THE LOCKER at my screen hahah
😂😂 it's a good insight into how my brain works (or doesn't)
Finally you use the scanner room. Now i can sleep well.
🤣
1:34:17 I think the structure was originally attached to the walls and ceiling , suspended within the cave with cables instead of sitting at the bottom of it.
Ohh, I remember the pain of not having a tablet when finding the facility. I think I started carrying them around just in case even when there was clearly no reason. Then again, I stockpile *everything*. The number of water bottles in my lockers at the end of an average playthrough is more than a little ridiculous.
You are braver than I; still haven't tried scanning a reaper. Maybe this time around, since I got two stasis rifles in time capsules.
Another fun episode, you are honestly experiencing the game the way most players do! You learn what you need to take for exploring, gotta have the tablets, beacons, and such because you never know when you'll need them, and the grind of gathering materials for building the new things. Just gonna say again, might want to go through your blueprints and make everything at least once to see if it's useful. With the long distances you are traveling you might want to consider building an outpost base, so you don't have to constantly go so far back for supplies. A deep water base is extremely helpful, even just a basic one. Looking forward to more exploration next time, have a wonderful week!
Lukael: are ya ready subnauticans?
"EY EY, CAPTIAN!!"
Don’t you mean “EYEYE, CAPTAIN!”
I’ll see myself out
You're doing great, a couple of iffy moments, but you're figuring things out faster than I did😂😂😂
You should try Astroneer sometime.
It's a game where you explore planets, gather resources, build bases, and observe alien structures, but in space. It's also a lot more sandbox oriented and low-key with no hunger or thirst to worry about and you can also deform or build terrain to your liking. Totally sounds like something you'd enjoy.
Oxygen is still slightly important though 😁
It is, however, a lot more cartoonish and simple in the graphics - that might scare off those who want something a bit prettier.
@@snorpenbass4196 Yes, it's not realistic, but honestly for me it looks more beautiful than most other games with "realistic" graphics. It's highly stylized and very colorful, almost like minecraft.
I enjoyed that game until I realized how repetitive turning the power on was going to be. I did the first planet and then gave up.
It's been in my Steam wishlist for a long time, but I never got a chance to try it! it does look fun, especially in Coop
Yay!! More subnautica 😁 Happy Friday!
Don't know what your current personal consensus is about playing Below Zero, but I would clearly recommend it. It's not as good as the first game but it's still good and definitely worth a playthrough.
Will be playing it!
@@LukaelPlays Ironically, you're playing on Subnautica 2.0 which is closer in mechanics to BZ than to what most of us originally played, so there will be less learning curve. The story is not nearly as clean, but I think it would be cool if you played it anyway.
@@LukaelPlays Yay!
Great playthrough! You'll learn soon enough that the Water Filtration Machine is the worst thing to build in your base. Slow as hell and drains a ridiculous amount of power. Based on where you are, your best avenue for water is bleach... you've got a lot of salt now and those coral tubes are all around you!
I always build 2 water filtration machines in my Hab because they are indeed slow.
Power is easy to get in abundance. Solar on the surface, thermal in deep water.
Bumblebutt for the win! 🐝
One of my favorite parts about Subnautica is building the alien containment and hatching all the eggs from the different species. Then putting them in my pocket to release into the ocean before beating the game lol
Alright, I'm not done with this Ep yet , but I had to comnent.
Bruh.. the Cuddle fish.
"Why dont they fit into the fishtank?"
"I guess I'll just have to stuff you in the locker , I dont know what else to do with them?!"
BRUH lol, what other body of water could you possibly think to put them in .. 🤔🤣
I'll give you a hint.. you're in the middle of a huge ocean planet.
Great series so far tho 😁
But it's dangerous out there!!
@38:20 The mushrooms are actually pretty average energy for the reactor. The game doesn't tell you what each thing is worth, mushroom is 210, but a Peeper is worth 420 each. The best one is actually the Occulus in the jellyshroom cave.
The water machine needs 4 solar panels to run constantly even through the night. I think the scanner room need about the same while it is actively scanning for something.
The game just don't tell you this things. And I didn't find this info anywhere either.
I've just finished this game today, i can't wait to see you play the below zero
If you want to find copper in limestone you have to scan for limestone chunks, not for copper.
Don't use the sonar constantly btw - it requires power, and quite a lot of it.
You should release the Cuddlefish outside your base btw.
the lost river biome that you just found has 4 entrances across the map, you're going to need a lot of beacons from now on unless you download a map mod
Subnautica is absolutely a game you have to take slowly , i don't see the point in speedrunning the story on a first playthrough . appreciate what unknown worlds has created for us
alien containments can work as an elevators in tall bases, stacked on top of each other you can swim up multiple floors quickly
It's slower than ladders
lol, "I need to dive deeper" he was in front of the opening and back to base, very unfortunate 😂
I haven’t tried it but I heard you could grow a bunch of crab snake eggs in the containment tank, then release them near warpers and watch the carnage. 👊👊👊
lol I didn't know my brother had a bobblehead in this game. That's funny. Never found it in my playthrough.
19:12
Ooh! That’s where I put my base!! The free thermal energy from that vent is really nice. Plus, the view overlooking that little cliff, leading into the red grass, with the creepvine forest off to the side.. it’s just really nice. I get the kelp-forest ost from inside my base. A couple solar panels, a bioreactor, an alien containment unit to farm Reginalds for the bioreactor, in addition to the thermal reactor means I never lose power, even with a water filter and a moonpool! I'd keep that spot in mind if you ever plan to move your base.
That's indeed a very nice spot! I'll keep it in mind
I'm pretty sure the facility was never on the surface but was floating suspended in the cavern below as opposed to on the floor of the cavern.
At 0:30, As always facial grooming is 10 out of 10 dude! You rock !!
I hate having to shave before every recording so I guess I'm glad someone appreciates it! 😆
@@LukaelPlays
At 1:53:34, SADDLY, to find the cyclops parts, you must go BEHIND THE ARUORA !!! Or locate the giant mushroom biome. Both have peices. It. WILL. BE. NEEDED. My advice? HUG THE GROUND !!
Cool find with that Marguerit PDA. I just finished fully farming those caves on my second playthrough, and have never seen it before. She doesn't have nearly as many log entries as the other Degasi crew, so it's nice to hear her perspective in her own words.
Ey you got the reaper! Good job. I have scanned [spoilers], but not a reaper before. I think I would be too afraid of getting one-shotted, even with the rifle.
Also glad you found a cave entrance to Disease Research. It is the one thing about the game that I had to look up online. The hint the game gives you is a little misleading. Because it IS southeast of the enforcement platform like it says, but the cave entrance to actually take you there is not.
Her perspective is kinda hilarious lol
1:07:50 It's also food and water or energy for the bioreactor. Growbeds are also very userful since you can grow things that you'll need more than once or twice.
Heard the french accent back in episode 3. Had to sub. I was really curious from episode one to know where you were from just from the way you say your name lol. I'm french too, so it sounded familiar hahaha
I love the series, so keep it up! Hâte de voir la suite ;)
Bienvenue à bord! 👨✈️
You can see yourself as you thought. Just replace hatch in the scanner room with window and then you can pilot a drone to peek at yourself piloting drone through the window.
1:09:29 For some reason the bobblehead is marked as a fragment, so if you scan it you'll get 3 titanium and not the glass.
@1:23:00 In the early access the Reaper actually came after you from much farther away than it does now. They adjusted the range so I guess the PDA entry was more accurate initially.
Possibly!
I hope you scan the big fossil near the ghost leviathan, the information from that scan is more than anything quite interesting fan service, you couldn't scan it in the previous episode because you got close to one of the ribs instead of the head
with how shallow your base is 4-5 solar panels will power everything without ever needing anything else. (the solar panels produce more power the closer to the surface they are, since you are making them above the water they will produce the maximum possible)
Backseating is not going anywhere and even less so as the channel grows. If I was you I would try and find a way to not let it bother me. It's not gonna stop bro. lol
Doesn't really bother me, I just find it kinda funny but puzzling
This was an excellent episode, once again. I've been looking forward to your exploration of the Disease Research Facility. You know what you need to do next, but don't feel like you need to be in a hurry. If you go too fast, the game will be over before you know it, unfortunately. I think a typical first playthrough is like 15-20 hours depending on how thorough you try to be.
You're doing great, I don't mind if you farm mats a lot, we've all done it. Oh, and I hope you keep playing with the alien containment.
I have a navigation tip, but if it's too spoilery, please remove it.
The signals you receive, i.e. lifepods, are strategically placed around the map near key features and can be used to help with navigation. For example, one of the lifepods talks about the crabsnakes attacking, though it doesn't use that name. That lifepod is near the entrances to the jellyshroom caves, and you've used them many, many times.
There are multiple entrances to go deeper, and most of them are marked closely by a signal location you've already unlocked. I will not say more.
23:00 - Seamoth Arms is actually a very popular mod.
Oh guys... did you really convince this innocent man to use Bumblebutt. 😆
Markiplier for the win I guess. 😆
Base-building mechanic 'spoiler' re: Alien Containment:
They stack along with the Multipurpose rooms. So if you stack MP rooms and build ACUs in all of them they will make a big column of containment, and you can swim up through the center (add hatches for the floors you want access to, or ladders on the outer rim)
The best way in the whole game to build an "elevator" for your base!
you really should try planting stuff. they give you planters and growbeds for a reason, blood oil, creepvine seeds, cut the shrooms for seeds, gel sacs for seeds, have a few bulbos in the base for food and water and to keep the bioreactor going. at least you finally got scanner room hud chip going. and look for the outcrops not the ores for copper, lead etc. metal salvage for titanium. about time to build the prawn and cyclops too. you're in the home stretch now.
Do you need quart?!?...
Of quartz you do!!!!
You might want to go back through your previous playing videos and see where you got the different Cyclops parts and poke around more. Not definite but similar blueprints tend to get clumped together.
I do not remember at all :B
Release the cuddlefish outside your base and you'll have a friend for life!
Mine was following me in my cyclops. He was getting hit repeatedly. 😢 but, I want him at my base in the depths. Hope he survives the journey lol
@@jupiterthree5228 You can ask them not to follow you, they stay in that area (plus you can have them follow you whenever you want). I accidentally had mine on follow going to the Lost River! 😳
@@jupiterthree5228 you can tell them not to follow you
@@jupiterthree5228 Cuddlefish have more HP than any other creature in the game. Give one a knife and it could solo a reaper leviathan.
Cool, I didn't know they were so tanky. Can you reproduce them? Like with 2 of them?
Wow i’m really liking this series i’ve also watched the stray and elden ring ones, have you ever considered playing hollow knight?
love your videos you’re so chill

@28:21 -- guess it's a good thing you don't use much O2 in your sleep, eh? ;)
MORE CONTAINMENT UNITS!
SCREW GETTING OFF THE PLANET, TIME TO BUILD A ZOO 😂
Stasis rifle: perhaps you should read the manual again. ;) (no, really)
You would put the cuddlefish in this small tank? So cruel!
Edit: WHAT?! You put them in a LOCKER?!
1:18:22 "Don't do this at home"-Subnautica Edition.
Alien contaiment has a limit how many fish it can have. If you want more you can stack them on top of each other.
1:43:35 We are getting to the good stuff!
It's so funny that you can just go to sleep when you base doesn't have oxygen lmao
Bumblebutt sounds familiar didn't another TH-camr use it? I can't recall who
Markipliers was “Bubblebutt”
Pretty sure Markiplier had a "bubblebutt" and "bumblebutt" (or bubblegum?), definitely had a bumblebee colored seamoth though.
regarding the "huge drop" kinda Cliff: I will not Spoiler you, but as long the Gamemusic plays, youre fine :)
Looks like the only 2 things left at the Research Facility are that large Corpse and the Data behind the Door. You seem to have scanned everything else. Say... wasnt there something in the cave-room that you passed before reaching the Facility? Couldnt really see it. Hmmm... you left the Cavesystem on a different Route than you entered. I wonder if that Cave-room was some kind of a Junction Ôo Could be helpful to explore that area more.
Do you remember where you found the parts for Cyclops? There should be more in the same area. I dont think its too deep or it would be too dark and you could miss the parts. Maybe an area that is still bright but has obstructions, so you dont see the parts directly - like large, crowded Plants or rugged reefs?
10:05 so much can be said about a lot of things in your playthrough. So don't worry. Have fun.
DUDE!!! Growbeds are a thing!!! If you need more of any kind of flora, you can plant what you have and grow a bunch!!!
Hopefully not too much of a spoiler but you have not seen all the biomes outside of the caves yet. Might do some sea floor exploration. :)
