  • Along with the ARB locker, the 35 spline axle shafts, backbone truss and many other mods for this ford 9 inch, I decided that I need a little more stopping power for the 37 inch tires. In addition to stopping bigger tires, I predict this will also help when I set up differential steering, or cutting brakes if you please.
As with everything I do for the first time, this was intimidating at first. Once I got into the swing of things, as usual, I got more comfortable with the cutting and welding things up.
No idea if this will work like I think it will but, I'm hoping that Ill be able to steer around a rear tire as a pivot point. Not exactly "front dig" like the real rock crawlers, but I'll be able to imitate something similar.
hope you will enjoy this video, let me know if you prefer long periods of no dialogue or rather have commentary explaining my methods and procedures.

I wish i would have done my brake lines differently when i did my axle swap. I just re-used the stock brake lines. Its something i would like to go back and fix some day. Its been working for 8 years but i still think about it all the time. I am not sure if you mentioned it in another video but i recommend that you swap out the brake proportioning valve with one from a ZJ with disk brakes. It will make a world of difference.

I'll keep that in mind for sure. I'm told I've got to change to a better brake booster anyway. Might look into the adjustable prop valve too if they're not super expensive. My next video is somewhat brake lines actually lol I bought the brake line flaring tool and I'm pretty excited about it. Still learning all the time and I can't tell you how much I appreciate advice from folks that have done all this before 👌🏻

Real curious the path and methodology you're going to use for the brake lines. I like your normal 'chatterbox' content, but this video was a lovely change of pace. I'd say do whatever you're feeling like on any given video!
That axle's starting to look mighty beefy!

Thank you for the kind words 🙏🏻. I'm hoping that by locking up one rear wheel I'll be able to drive in really tight circles around it. In theory, this should help in tight spaces. In combo with having one tire locked up, the opposite one will be spinning twice as fast BUT with much less torque, letting the front axle pull the truck left or right.
Now that I think of it, this will make a great video in the future. 😁

@@BlackAndBlueGarage and it will be a choice piece of capability if you do convert to a twin stick later on. No drawback detected
