    Thanks guys. I am installing this kit on a Speedway Motors Ford 9" today. So much better than the PDF instructions.

    Thanks for the informative video! I wish I found it before installing my kit. I purchased the MBM Ford truck 9 inch version with the 5x5.5 bolt pattern. The included instructions are HORRIBLE! I've been customizing for many years and realize this is a custom part and there are different installations based on differing years of the same truck. Instructions covering every situation is not possible. However, thorough instructions or helpful hints would be nice. First the instructions said that the axle flanges needed to be 6 1/8 inch or smaller or else the axle flanges would need to be machined. As stated earlier, my kit was the Ford Truck 5x5.5 rotor pattern. If the axle flange was machined to 6 1/8 inch you would almost machine into the axle stud holes! My axles flanges were larger than 6 1/8 inches yet the rotors still fit fully onto the axles. This axle flange specification is probably specific to the smaller Chevy bolt patterns. It would be nice to know that there is a different specification based based on axle bolt pattern size. Next, quality control is somewhat lacking. The primary bracket had two holes that were slightly mis-drilled requiring me to enlarge them. One to make to make the primary bracket fit on the differential axle flange. The other to make the secondary bracket fit. This made it necessary to enlarge the holes on the lower rectangular spacers. I also had to I had to reshape the rectangular spacers to clear the differential housing flange.There were cylindrical spacers that the instructions didn't mention, but were necessary to get the caliper spacing correct. If you install one of these kits be prepared to customize, it's not just bolt on. The most frustrating part of the kit were the incorrectly drilled parts.

      I agree, the instructions suck, I'm having to use the round spacers where they put the rectangular ones in. The bolts supplied are so long for the rotor support bracket that I'm having to use the rectangular and round spacers both, I hope it holds. Should have had different lengths of bolts. This video helps but I wish they would use a factory housing, but it wouldn't be like the real world where you working through grease and oil and dirt.

    What are you guys doing or using for parking brake cables for this style caliper. My original factory cables are two short and the universal cables seem to require some creative alterations to make them work?

      Those wheels should work with all 15" wheels, however we have never used those particular wheels.

  • @BrendanWorks

    Boy this sure makes me not want to buy your conversion kit. The part where I need to drill out brand new parts is crazy. That's why you buy a kit, so it's all done for you. With a very common setup like a Ford 9", no drilling should be necessary. That, and your video starts with the assumption of the least common scenario: building an axle setup from scratch. Most everybody *already has a car* they are starting from. That's why it's a conversion. Your video appears to be setup for the convenience of setting up a video, not to show a person how they'd actually do an install. I'm sorry to be so negative, but this is all way off the mark.

    This kit can be used on a 03 Ranger with a 8.8 rear axle correct?

    • @speedwaymotors
      @speedwaymotors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry to say that no, this will not fit a Ford 8.8" rear axle. This will only fit an 8", or 9" axle which both share the same axle flange. You might take a look at something such as this for your 8.8" axle: www.speedwaymotors.com/Wilwood-140-3018-B-FDLI-Rear-Brake-Kit-Ford-8-8-w-2-5-Off-5-Lug,106038.html

    Cars and trucks do not have an "emergency" brake. They have a PARKING brake. That is why there is a "P" not an "E". It is for parking.
