Insulating a wall with no studs.
I told you it was coming. I could do more Jeep Comanche videos but I just can't do another summer with a hot shop. I still need to insulate the ceiling but I think it can wait until winter when it's too cold lol.
Thought I would get my drone out and take some shots while the jeep is rolled out. Pretty cool heh? Anyway, shelves are from home depot and they cost me 500 for both! I don't get paid for doing these videos, I'm just following my passion. So, the best way you can support me and my channel, is to "like" share, leave a comment and tell all your offroad buddies about this show.
Hope to get this Truck done so I can have something to crawl around the desert in while I start my next build. Hope to see some of you out there!!!
We are 100% not perfect.

Universal coolant tank from Amazon

the coolant system on this truck is 100% done and 100% not perfect. I still have no idea how I'm going to get fuel in this without spilling all over the place. I suppose I'll have to build something using the stock filler neck if I can. I just have to stare at it for a long time and it will come to me. LS Jeep Comanche gets an exhaust system (part 1)
มุมมอง 20814 วันที่ผ่านมา
I sure hope this quiets things down at least a little bit. The welding is horrible, the flow dynamics probably suck, and the tubes are probably too close to the floor but darn it I'm going to make this work one way or another. I'm still waiting on some parts to finish this system to come in the mail but in the weeks to come, I'll be able to start this Jeep and see If any of this makes a differe...
Custom Jeep Comanche center console for my fancy shifters

Got my JB Custom single stick transfer case shifter and, my Winters Sidewinder transmission shifter in the mail. In this video I build a custom, one of a kind center console to mount them in place. I love the way the stop sign came out as the panel for this thing. It will remind me to "stop" and think about what I'm doing when having fun in the desert. So I had a bit of a breakthrough a couple weeks ago when a video "blew up" with views faster than usual. I even got a couple of comments from you saying that it was a good idea, and even my girlfriend said she understood what I was talking about due to the visu...
Track bar mount, fender trim and flex test of the Jeep Comanche
มุมมอง 591หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video!!!! I weld a major steering component, secure the roll cage into the inner fender, add hose clamps and insulation to the coolant tubes and flex out the suspension. If you enjoy this video, please leave likes and comments. I am impressed and pleased at how much articulation the suspension system I designed, works as well as it does so far. I hope I don't have too much body roll.
Why you should install a "rear suck down winch"
มุมมอง 4.7Kหลายเดือนก่อน
There are a lot of rock crawlers out there set up to use their front winch as a "suck down winch". Here's a different perspective that I think not a lot of people think about. The rear axle Is more or less neglected when it comes to suck down winches. I remember watching "24 to hell and back" when they came to Arizona, and there were a couple of spots where people needed to winch off the rig be...
Here's how to get coolant to the rear mounted radiator. No bend method
มุมมอง 809หลายเดือนก่อน
So this hasn't been done before, neither has copper tubing never been done before. I just thought I would be different twice and use copper tubing to carry coolant between the ls and the radiator on this Jeep Truck. I do plan on wrapping the tubes inside the cab so It doesn't act like a foot warmer for the passenger. It would also be a good idea to make a fake floor, which admittedly is a bless...
Little big Jeep truck gets a bed radiator.

"If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans" I haven't mounted a radiator before but these rubber isolators seemed to work great for the A/C unit on my shop so, I decided id give that a try. good news is if they don't work, I can just hard mount the radiator to the brackets that I made. There's a little sneak peek at next weekends video about the tubes I made to get coolant to and from ...
I make my own radiator fan shroud and when will the Jeep Comanche ever be done?
มุมมอง 1702 หลายเดือนก่อน
I have been shopping for a suitable radiator and fan combo to mount on the back of the Jeep truck. My friend Colin said he had one I could have, and didn't charge me anything since I game him some parts late last year. So with an amazon fan and an old street sign, I decided that I could make my own. As with everything I try for the first time, this was a big risk. I ran into a few problems maki...

Its always nice to make improvements to the shop! It looks a lot like Globe there so i imagine its pretty hot right now.
@@ProjectXJ you're in Gobe? I drive through there once a month.
@BlackAndBlueGarage i lived there about 5 years. One of my favorite trails is pretty close called hackberry creek.
@@ProjectXJ I'll check that out
@BlackAndBlueGarage when you finish the MJ we can go do it.
Sound like a plan
I have one of those shelves and they are awesome but I may need another that’s a cool idea not putting the bottom shelf on
@@TheBeardedJeeper yeah. I stared at it in home Depot for an hour walking back and forth 😆. They probably thought I have a problem. I mean I do but, it still probably looked funny.
Well, you screwed up with the initial material selection and now it's gotta come out - I'm just playin', that's a massive improvement, it looks better and it's got to feel great!
I don't own a Comanche, but your videos are fantastic for off-road vehicles in general! Thanks!
@@NT5RA_Still_Learning thank you? I don't want to build JUST a Comanche. I hope to move on to something different and more wild each season 👍🏻
Your channel is most definitely a hidden gem! It's hard for me to believe that your viewership is not much higher! And only 13 likes for this video, including my own? Somehow you need to work the system a bit, use that TH-cam algorithm to get the word out!
I hate the idea of making something clicky, but I know I'll have to "play the game" eventually. I just don't want to "sell my soul" and start rapping for two minutes about Nord VPN or ONX off-road for half the video. 🤮. I know I might have to one day, but till then I'll just work for Free and be free 😁
Pressure test your exhaust and you will find leaks. Fix them now before the fluttering noise drives you crazy.
Dangit! Too late now 🙄. I'll just have to deal with it for now.
So what kind of suspension do you put on that truck to carry a 13,000 lb winch LOL
😆
Overkill is underrated. I probably won't it but at least it won't struggle
Man such an awesome build! I’ve been looking for a decent MJ but haven’t found one that wasn’t rotted or they didn’t want a small fortune
People act like they're more rare than they are.
@@BlackAndBlueGarage one day I’ll have one but I gotta finish my XJ first anyway
Cool 😎👍 man
Oh I like those orange hoses, they are SUPER floppy! Are they too floppy? Will the bellies in the hoses be all vapor lockey and horrible? As for the GUZZOLINE, Do a flangey bob up to that stock assembly so the door opens in the stock manner, but tilted back about 30 degrees so it follows the body line and tubes. T shirt wise, if you can do 2XL _T_, I'll buy one! You are dead nuts on - bust your hump and DIY, or let all the shirt money go to china but not need to do all the work.
Definitely some things to think about. Not sure I can but tall shirts but when I get up and going I'll probably do L - 3XL to start with.
Actually, the coolest thing in this video for me was the close-up of the 80’s black side plastic trim and the 4 x 4 badging on the driver side pillar
I watch these and wish I were with you working in your garage… Miss you, man, cool stuff…
Miss you too. That would be fun! Let me figure out my insulation and AC and you could come visit next time you fly down.
How much do one of T shirt cast
Haven't decided yet but if I bleach and dye them myself I could make and ship them for probably $18. I haven't set up a store yet but I'll announce if I do 👍🏻
I kinda think the splatter on your black shirts should be your light blue? Great entertaining video. thank you for sharing. Maybe a single level, half bed length, oak or black diamond plate rack on each side. Similar to the scrambler to mount that fuel door? Have a great day 👍😉
I agree! I'm using bleach to burn the dye. I'm going to try one with bleach and then blue dye but it might turn out dark, or purple lol
Good looking coolant overflow reservoir.
At least you have a garage to work in the weather
It is truly a blessing
I would clock the winch knob straight down. Cut a hole in the bottom of the bumper that you reach into to work the knob. That's what I did on my XJ.
That would be perfect but my winch isn't clockable
Mount it in the bed
I like your exhaust looks close to mine
Thank you!
I love the idea of going driver side and vent it, however, you COULD also mount it in the bed somewhere
That's 2 votes for under the hood. I'm not counting Facebook comments and personal messages lol. Jk
Over the driver side in fender for sure. Plus, there’s lots louvers you can use.
The more I think about it the more it makes sense.
As I said elsevideo, I'd look at to the left or right, maintaining the excellent winch mount
Test comment
Working thanks babe!
Leave a comment and let me know how you would set this up.
Hmmm. I'm leaning towards option 1L. Is there enough room to tip the derale cooler on its side so the lines exit on the side instead of the bottom, and move it drive or passenger to make clearance for the winch? I'm 100% with you on keeping the winch build, it's wonderful.
I'll give it another try. I started at it and held it up there till my arms and eyes hurt. I'll take another look with more sleep
Latest video private why?
I screwed up 🙄 is it working now?

Right? I was just thinking it's kinda like a big Revell model kit.
>The welding is horrible, the flow dynamics probably suck, and the tubes are probably too close to the floor But I like it! Seriously, a weird thing at least isn't the same thing everyone else does. You're gonna run into problems, but that's because you're breaking new ground!
Rules are for suckers and people with carpet 😆
I think if this works it will only be because the engine is staying stock. I could nerd out and talk about length of travel, sharp angles and creating an orifice between the collector and resonator. Gotta work with what I can tho because I'd probably run into the upper link if I used the bigger y-pipe. If I end up having issues with this I'll have a pro build me something.
@BlackAndBlueGarage that's my thought on the mopar 360 I'm building, we're gonna be 2.5" all the way back to true duals, it's not a thousand horsepower, it'll be fine. Am I leaving some performance on the table? Yes. Will it still move snow? Also yes. Good enough!
@@wiresmith2398 I dig it
The stop sign goes well with your red patina’s door jambs, great time laps with jump cut inside of speed. Great background music… Question: did you cut open the gate on the tci cheeta shifter to allow you to quickly go from forward to reverse in case of a rear fall back? If so, that would be a good topic of conversation to touch on in a how to video. Thank you for sharing!👍
Yes! I've been reading about the shifter gates. I'm a bit nervous about tipping backwards so I thought I'd just start out with that right away. It would make a good video, I just don't know how well it will work yet. Thank you for the kind words 🙏🏻
Duuuude, this level of awesome needs to be STOPped! Youre making it way too hard for me to make a cool Manche!

Hi sr, you just talk like "master of voice" yt chanel , the exact same voice lol look for him!!
I'll have to look that up.
I don't sound like that 😆. Maybe a little. 🤪
Pulling down the suspension makes a huge difference. I think the biggest advantage to it is the huge reduction in the pogo effect that happens when a bump is hit and the suspension reacts to it. A lot of people run a central limit strap to help stop the suspension from unloading, but the winch is adjustable on the fly allowing more droop travel when desired, or less when need be. I run suck down winches in the front and rear. I don’t like using my recovery winch to pull down on the suspension, because if I’m in a position to need a winch line, I may not want to have to unload my suspension to make it available.
when you were talking about brakes, when you are in 4x4 and locked diffs, there is no brake bias, each wheel is mechanically link and even if you only had one wheel brake, all the tire would brake at the same rate. also read in the comments you are separating you front and rear brakes? do you have a t-case that can do fwd/ front digs?
No I'm planning on separating the front and both rears for diff steering/cutting brakes. I think I can shift to 2wd and hit both rear brakes for drag braking. And good point about 4wd in relationship to brake pressure splits. It's just something that popped in my mind at the time. This will be my first full size selectable locker; I'll probably go Atlas t-case when I build an actual rock crawler. I just hope this will be good enough for a trail truck setup.
I feel like the only reason someone would recommend you niesh down would be to keep the algorithm happy. If you were doing this with the anticipation of making good money someday. Example being advertisers want to reach a specific demographic. I wish We could just follow our wave of A.D.D. And post whatever… but the audio book; TH-cam for dummies tells me otherwise. I love all your content! You are a natural. Your viewers like me are unbiased. I have a channel for Jeep XJ, and RC Crawers. The jeep stuff gets higher views. I feel its because there are more 1:1 Jeep people then people exposed to how fun and Practical RC Crawlers are Compared to 1:1. Blaw blaw… my point is: I am a family man, and right now just doing the RC Crawlers and work and Family takes all my time. But I love the RC hobby, it can be cheaper, and can be safer. But when I replace the heater cores on my 2 XJ’s im going to video it and put a video together and put it on my Jeep channel. Because content is content. The world needs men like You!!! In my version of Zig Ziegler’s saying: “ if you give them everything they want, You will get everything that you want”. Take care. Keep up the good work 👍👍
Love the rc and 1:1 rock crawler content! Keep it up man 🤙
My thought would be install a pulley block on the axle and run a double line pull. Decrease the strain on the winch but also pull each side down evenly
Reminds me of a Unimog on a steep downhill or that video a rig goes end over with a huge cage (top heavy) that falls off lol Also if you have the ability (Atlas) to shift to front drive only also helps with steep descents.
I can't afford Atlas lol. I am separating my brakes for brake steering which should give me the ability to "drag brake" both rears. I would love to own a unimog one day if I'm rich and famous lol
One of the best videos I have seen in a long time! He had an idea, explained and proved said idea, and had fun in the process!! Great video!!
Thank you! Sometimes I'm explaining it to myself too lol but these types of things fascinate me the most
I can see this having multiple benefits with a lifted truck. I.E. lower the bed/tailgate for easier loading/unloading, or to get under a gooseneck or 5th wheel that is just a bit too low. It beats letting the air out of the tires, especially on a dually!
I am guessing that a suck down winch can be adjusted on the fly, provided you have a remote in the cab. When it comes to sucking down, I'm sure you can know how much line to take up by ear, hearing the load on the winch. But how do you know how much line to let out when returning to regular ride height? Too much and you've got a loop hanging under the truck. Does it basically require that you stop and get out every time you want to adjust it?
That's what I'm wondering also. I'm still contemplating a cable system to the free spool knob. I'm hoping I can just guess at first and adapt to something only if I run into that problem. Bigger fish to fry first tho.
@@BlackAndBlueGarage Why free spool? Would it hurt to leave it engaged? We're talking only inches of line length adjustment either way. Dunno.
Great video! Using the RC as a "working" (or at least rolling) example was a fantastic idea! I've never even heard of a suck down winch, but with my F350 riding a bit high it would come in really handy at times! It might take a bigger winch to overcome the dually springs LOL! 🤔
I bet! That's a big truck. Have you seen the Aculevel systems they have now? Insanely pricey but impressive.
@@BlackAndBlueGarage Yeah, nice, but we'll stick with a small winch and AirLift bags for now. Not planning to do a lot of rock crawling because it is so long/wide it simply won't fit on many of the trails. I'm not a big fan of the 15 point turn! But for the occasional crawl, you betcha!
@@BlackAndBlueGarage I have a Sherpa 25,000 lb winch on the front, soon to have another on the rear. Not knowing what a suck down winch was, when you said you were using a 2,500 lb winch, I thought you messed up and really meant 25,000 lb! LOL 😂
An LB? That’s interesting.
What's LB?
