Hey Karl and all other viewers. Just wanted to point out, I had my DD-X arrive today. Still no instructions in regards to the chair link! Also, the pedal base plate required me to drill 2 additional holes to mount my Moza SRP pedals, even though Moza used the usual Fanatec mounting layout (apparently). But I must admit, this is a great wheel stand and I'm very impressed with it. Currently using a Moza R12 wheel base (50% torque though), FSR wheel and SRP load cell pedals and it's SOLID. So thanks for the video on this as I don't think I'd of found this wheel stand without it.
Great review Karl, this is exactly what I've been looking for as I only have a limited budget. I just ordered the wheel stand, rear frame and XL RS Seat with your discount code all in £399 🙂👍🏻
I'd still have to prefer the ART personally. This is an awesome cockpit still, but the ART is for the DIY guys, like me. Mine handles my T818 beautifully, with a ton of rigidity added. Prior I had used flat steel in a similar way to how you did way back when. Now I have square steel coming down the same way from deck to base, but in line with the existing steel. I left a tab out at my angle cut, hammered it down and welded it along with a nut on the inside to make sort of a threaded cap. Set it in place and now it could honestly probably handle the likes of the R21 and other high powered wheelbases. My next step is to add a platform it sits upon and add some 4 corner motion to it. Honestly might be able to retrofit a trakracer platform based on my measurements. After using it for years and years it is perfection if you want to upgrade and stiffen it as you upgrade your wheelbase. It also just has an awesome plethora of add-ons; sometimes available and always in low stock, but they're out there 😂 Excited to see what people come up with for this one though! Budget cockpits are always a good thing to see
Hi Karl. I just want to ask if there will be issues with the seat upgrade adjustability because I'm just 5'5" lol. I know you're around 6 feet as well as the other guy who reviewed the DDX said that the seat was kind of low. There are no sources pointing out how low the wheel adjustment would go with the shifter mount as well. I'm really hoping you read this. :))
i have an ART ebay knock off.. defo need to improve the pedal tray but thats the price i pay for saving a couple hundred quid lol.. still works fine with my g pro
just what i ve been looking at this last week, i have the wheel stand and was thinking about getting the seat and rear frame , thx Karl. How comfortable are those seats tho
Looks like a great little setup to get going with. You cant raise the seat on my Titan either but it does look to be mounted quite a bit higher than that. I have the same seat, its an XL RS isnt it rather than an RS9? Great informative review as always mate. As Ive said previously I chose my rig after watching your review. You always have a knack of testing the things that actually matter to everyday use and comfort.
@@KarlGosling Could have sworn it was £349 but I must have got it on a Discount plus your code took it even lower. But fair enough, I suppose also if you don't have the room this is a nice solution but I can't pimp a extruded rig enough as bolting on things and tinkering is so much easier ( and enjoyable lol)
Gt Omega is not worth it in the U.S.. They never have anything in stock so if you have a wheel stand or cockpit from them dont ever plan on getting extra or replacement parts since they are never in stock. Also, they dont contact you when items come in no matter how many times you've been added to a contact list.

Oh good man, enjoy!

My GF is a 5'4" and has no issues mate.
@@KarlGosling thanks so much!
I think I prefer my ART with the additional steering support bars. Runs a Logi G Pro no problem.
Very close between the two.

I've ran their seats ever since I started sim racing so all good IMO.
Nice review as always. Do you think changing the RS9 for a Chase Bucket seat can be more adjustable allowing to be in a more higher position?
Yes I would think so!

Oh yes it is an XL RS, apologies!
Would this be compatible with universal seat brackets and bucket seats?
Should be yes.
It looks like your arms are a little too stretched out? Is there adjustment enough in the wheel deck to move the wheel a couple inches closer to you?
It was all the way forward so yes plenty!
Hmmm £100 more and you can get the Prime Lite and that's worth getting month 1 and month 2 and 3 getting a nice seat :P
This is £220 and the Prime Lite is £400 mate (ignoring my discount), thats nearly double.

Bolt on cock-pit for a wheel stand. Not bad.
Yeah decent.
👍
At 58 this looks way too low for me! Plus the cost of buying the two parts of the rig separately, locally is just not worth it
It is indeed low to the floor, the cost is inline with all competitors for this level of rig.
