The Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 16, composed by Edvard Grieg in 1868, was the only concerto Grieg completed. It is one of his most popular works and among the most popular of all piano concerti.
The concerto is in three movements:
0:00 I. Allegro molto moderato (A minor)
12:41 II. Adagio (D-flat major)
18:54 III. Allegro moderato molto e marcato - Quasi presto - Andante maestoso (A minor → F major → A minor → A major)
The first movement is noted for the timpani roll in the first bar that leads to a dramatic piano flourish. The movement is in the Sonata form. The movement finishes with a virtuosic cadenza and a similar flourish as in the beginning.
The second movement is a lyrical movement in D-flat major, which leads directly into the third movement.
The third movement opens in A minor 2/4 time with an energetic theme (Theme 1), which is followed by a lyrical theme in F major (Theme 2). The movement returns to Theme 1. Following this recapitulation is the 3/4 A major Quasi presto section, which consists of a variation of Theme 1. The movement concludes with the Andante maestoso in A major, which consists of a dramatic rendition of Theme 2 (as opposed to the lyrical fashion with which Theme 2 is introduced).
Performance time of the whole concerto is usually just under 30 minutes.

Amazing job! I once heard that Liszt sight-read this whole piece in concert, without knowing how it sounded before.
It is said that he sight-readed the piano part along with most of the violin part playing both at the same time, and Grieg was amazed about that

If you read his full notes, he credits [Sviatoslav Richter (piano), Lovro Von Matacic (conductor) and Monte Carlo National Opera Orchestra]. Also in the last few seconds of the video. I think he does this with all his works.

Playing this with a full orchestra in 3 months, and I have only 5-6 hours per day until then to practice because of college classes taking all my time. wish me luck 🤞
Update: the sheets got stolen out of a practice room and I had to wait 6 days for another to get shipped since The Grieg Piano Concerto isn't in local music stores.

I’m sorry, but after reading the comments, I find that this peice has been greatly under appreciated. now I know it’s my opinion, but if you really listen to this entire concerto, and soak in the grand essence entwined in the works of each instrument, which are all collaborating to make what I call the most grand and beautiful concerto, if not classical peice ever written, you’ll find that this work of mastery is beyond any other of its kind . I’m not even a fan of greigs works, but I’m nearly in tears (of joy) after every time I listen to this. thank you so much pianoCzarX for making a video of richter interpretation, which was outstanding if I do say so myself

I am amazed by this. One of my favourite concerti, and such a brilliant combination of Synthesia's rendering with an actual recording!
Just one note: I feel like at 6:19 there's a voice missing... Certainly at 6:20, I hear some kind of accompaniment that is not represented in the animation.
I think those are just the lower strings, which are represented by the red.
