So nice hear that Mozart. I played that concerto with my school orchestra at age 14 and worked hard on the cadenza. I have played thru the other two many times just for my own edification. Thanks!
Oh, Traum. Good old Beethoven no. 3 in C Minor brings back such memories. I studied it for my School Certificate (I think that would be GCSE in England but I have no idea what the equivalent would be elsewhere) and I well remember the cadenza. Wasn't it the first time Beethoven actually wrote out the full cadenza for the soloist instead of leaving it to their discretion? My School C was some 40 years ago now, so I could have misremembered. Lovely work as usual.
@Kylee Maloney I was at Disney Concert Hall on Jan 30, Igor Levitt performed the Beethoven Concerto 3. According to the program book, on April 5, 1803, the score of Concerto was not finished by the rehearsal at 8 am and remained a work in progress during the premier. Beethoven's pupil , Ignaz von Seyfried was the page turner and he said " I saw empty pages with here and there what looked like Egyptian hieroglyphs, totally unintelligible to me, scribbled to serve as a clues for him. Beethoven played nearly all of his part from memory, since he had put so little on page. So, whenever he reached the end of some invisible passage, he gave me a surreptitious nod and I turn the page. My anxiety not to miss such a nod amused him greatly and the recollection of it at our convivial dinner after the concert sent him into gales of laughter." The Concerto had a Second Premier in Vienna a year later, from the finished manuscript - presumably without hieroglyphs- and the honor of playing was given to Ferdinand Rises by Beethoven.

The part at 4:28 is Beethoven trolling the pianist right? Seen him do this in some of his other works including Hammerklavier sonata, trills in both hands whilst having to play other melody notes in both hands all at the same time, probably puts this above the grieg in terms of difficulty...
Well, in the Grieg cadenza you have to simultaneously trill in thirds and play the melody in octaves with your right hand while playing fast arpeggios eith your left hand. Grieg is hands down more difficult.
