- Some powerful new weapons are coming to oldschool from the while guthix sleeps quest. This quest will be introducing 4 new unique items to oldschool runescape, including a new set of claws.
Jagex has opted against moving the iconic dragon claws from chambers, and instead has opted to introduce a new set of demonbane weapons. I'm very excited to try these out sometime this summer when the quest releases.

Finally getting rid of the charges on the arclight is kind of amazing.

@@135791max Ancient shards have nearly no requirements to farm while the firelight will require a grandmaster quests with high requirements and a rare drop, and it specifically says "you'll need a fully charged arclight to upgrade to the firelight".
I think the whole charging system for the arclight is stupid and horribly designed anyways, but the shards still have a purpose and they can always add a new use for them.
I’m the opposite, I’m swimming in ancient shards but I only really use it at Kril and Cerb

I have taken a break from OSRS for the last 3 months. I honestly feel like I can’t keep track of all these updates and they need to slow tf down. I have tons of stuff to do still 😂

@@childpeanut5095 4.5 here, I'm so overwhelmed. Last thing I knew was blowpipe nerf was imminent and now there's enough new bis ranged gear to bring it back up.
something that could be cool is if they allowed you to put a smouldering stone onto the dragon claws to allow them to hit a burn as well

Those new claws will out dps dragon claws in there current proposed lay out.
only complaint would be another pair of claws, i hope it's not a recolor and they change the spec visuals.
The scorching bow looks crazy for ironmen if you can use dragon arrows.
Odd thing not to mention is firelight *won't degrade.* That is huge, though I am hearing *you have to have a FULLY CHARGED arclight to make the upgrade* so I'm going to need to do some slayer.

Depends on the burn effect, if it works on core its gonna make 2 downs a breeze
@@SwarmProductionsx honestly it might still be better than dragon dagger even without the burn. they both cost effectivly the same amount of spec with liquid adren going, so its basically a dragon dagger without the avernic on the side.

yep, looking at firelite. krill and gorillas are going to get farmed hard. i can see this wep being in the 200-400m range depending how rare the drop is
The only tradeable will be claws. Not sure if Tormented Synapses will be tradeable.

@@ginjaedgy49 there's 0% chance that weapons that are only good against demons will be 200m+. There's shitmobs, gorillas, TDs, cerb, abyssal sire, and kril (duke too?) where they will be good. No one's dropping 400m for that.

Btw, 5 attack rate is normal for staves. It's a staff not a trident.

i find it so funny how people complained about the old school gear like whip and bandos being so cheap in rs3 before osrs and basically the same thing is happening in osrs because as new gear gets adding something has to become obsolete
would that burn effect apply to something like core at TOA? Because that would be kind of nuts

Flip, you know all offensive spells from all spellbooks cast at a 5 tick attack speed right? The only exception to this is using a harmonized nightmare staff. Powered staves like trident and sang, have their own built in 4 tick attacks which arent actually a spellbook spell.
I believe they removed the extra tick on normal spells.
@alexanderquilty5705 They removed the one extra tick cast time from spells when autocasting them using a staff instead of manual casting. All offensive spells from spellbooks still cast at a 5-tick rate.

I was hoping for demon hunter set or similar from RS3, but Jagex delivered with even better tbh
I feel like there's a lot of things they could be focusing on instead of this. But I think the drops are ok to bring into the game overall. Basically just BIS weapons for demons. Which is not going to be too overpowered for the game as a whole. New BIS weapons for stuff like zammy and demonic gorilla's is not going to have bad effects on the game and you having to camp the monster for the weapons will make you have to actually work for new BIS's. It makes sense too me. I think items like this that are for niche things that you have to work for are good for the game. But I feel like they could be doing better stuff for the game's economy and health. I personally feel like we need some extravagant raid thats big and extremely hard. All the good players just breeze through all the raids at this point. It would be cool to have a raid that even after you learn it you still will struggle and have fails. Like TOA I seen Mo1st Critikal who's decently nooby at the game try a TOA and he was able to complete it on I think his first try. Same with Nightmare boss. Everyone waited over 2 years for a new boss, for a new challenge. All my friends were like FINALLY a new boss to learn and have a challenge to beat and figure out the Meta. And then it was so easy everyone was able to do multiple kill trips there on their very first trip. Literally I had a few friends all come back to the game and prepare for that boss to come out so we can have a new challenge together. And within 30 mins all 3 were like alright im bored I'll get on later bro ima go get something to eat... you know how sad it is to have them all come back to play for a new challenge and within 30 mins of no challenge there like, Well. Ok maybe will try again in 2 years whenever the next challenge comes out. I even myself quit shortly after that. Now coming back 5 years later im looking like ok what's new. The desert treasure 2 quest looks good. The bosses seem like a nice addition. But nothing too challenging. The coliseum looks like a good challenge. But you beat it once and then you got the quiver. Even ironman just camp it for a couple weeks after getting the quiver for enough shards to make quiver permanently charged. Then it's back to nothing to do. And they said the new slayer boss that's coming out is gunna be easy and gunna have a new BIS melee necklace that's BIS everywhere.. At this stage in the game? You get a BIS necklace from a easy slayer boss? We need more mid teir gear. That's one thing OSRS has always lacked is gear to grind inbetween the big gear. And we need new BIS, but at this stage in the world of OSRS it needs to be extremely hard to get BIS's. People say, "well there's not a lot of people can do even harder then inferno and coliseum content who wouldn't be able to get BIS" well ok. Then they don't get BIS. They can get the next best thing, and then have an actual challenge that takes actual time and effort to accomplish to look forward too. Look at all the OG players and content creators. There all bored as shit tryna make up there 50th weird youtube series on locking themselves in dungeon and tryna max because they've ran out of actual challenges. When a game has run out of challenges for the top players to the point they have to use make up there own challenges not by doing the games bigger challanages but taking stuff away from themselves to do the not hard challenges harder. Plus the botting problem is absolutely insane. This games economy has been destroyed by bots. Nothings worth anything or has any value anymore. And that's just how a MMORPG that's been out for years goes but all the bots have cutten OSRS life span in half by the insane amount of botting and resources the bots have brought into the game untouched. It's just so sad to see OSRS slowly falling apart. A game so many of love so much and it feels like to me it's on it's last legs.

Looking at the ignited staff stats all I can think is the meme of the wizard surrounded by bandits saying "oah dear seems like I'm out of spells" *rips off robe top* "time to show you boys how we did things back in my ole days"
Also with the claws this brings up a question about status effects...would the claw burn stack with poison? And how does it interact with the burn effect from the range set from valamore release.
If they are adding a "burning" effect, they better add it to all the fire spells.

Interesting concepts but I hate the name Firelight. Not to mention it's very close to firelighter which is a completely different type of item in the game.

Assuming what Jmods said in the past is true, they aren't planning to follow the RS3 storyline as much as before, and they intended to keep the gods banished from gielinor.
Its possible their stance is changing but i doubt it. it really depends on the context clues While guthix sleeps gives us.
If its a near 1:1 replica of RS3's version, t hen yeah. We are probably headed down a modified world guardian road again.
How about revive barrows? Maybe lv90 sets or buffs?

barrows is already good content, it just falls off hard after you unlock better gear because its just a the beginner gear for all content that matters

No imbued heart? Given that the heart is 100m+, they should put it on the tormented demons drop table and also keep it on the superior slayer monster drop table as a lottery drop.
Facts! Idk why some hardcore players are so adamant on not adding them to their drop table.
I don’t want to grind slayer for 5K hours at a chance for imbued heart. And 100+mil is crazy expensive.
@@RandomDropUp I do alot of wildy slayer. Lets be honest, i only do wildy slayer. And one thing what motivates me is the bigger and badder monsters and a chance to get a imbued hearth. If that would be like 20m. I would just buy and i wouldn't be so prone to do slayer at all. Sucks to be an ironman i guess.
That's the reason it's so expensive now, along with it's utility as a saturated heart. It would crash hard body if it were introduced as a normal drop.

pretty sure wgs was the first time I felt anything emotional in this game. Other than of course being lured into the wildy with only my whip, picking up 4 dragon battleaxes *noted* and then getting pk'd immediately after losing said whip... And then prolly Nomad, what a fight...

Honestly, I avoid Sire and Cerb and Zammy because they are annoying tasks for me personally. With these new options, I legitimately would probably be excited to get those tasks.

Ignited Staff - If I'm reading the special attack correctly, it only provides a 3 tick savings upon a successful killing blow. It is only useful at the end of the kill for a pretty minor benefit. Maybe it should cost 30% special and restore 45% attack energy (+15% net) upon killing blow and have increased accuracy/damage to be useful during other phases of a fight. Kill two demons in a row with the special and get an extra special attack to be used on a demon with high health! It be awesome if it felt like Darius' execution attack from LOL.

@@xKeegZ The issue is they altered or removed or changed what already existed for 20 years, for no reason. 100,000+ people voted for Unidentified Herbs to stay named just that until cleaned, to motivate leveling up and playing the game to know about it. Right click prospecting ore? Nah an 8 year old can tap on an ipad and get any ore and the "examine" option just says what it is plain out now. Barbarian village trout/salmon fishing spot has an infinite fire that never goes out, for no reason. So on. From the beginning it was taken and abused worse than a person, because the game isn't itself anymore.

@@xKeegZ That last sentence you said is what made the game change too far beyond recognition. The game had 10,000 to 35,000 daily players for the first year with nearly no updates. Do you remember, or know, the two brothers Andrew Gower and Paul Gower made this game for years in crowded rooms and struggled financially... but kept at it nonstop because they loved their project? They called it DeviousMUD before RuneScape. MUD being Multi-user-dungeon. This was their passion that made them who they are and brought RuneScape to the world in 2001. In 2004, they left Classic open as RS1 and RS2 was the new main game... they knew a portion of people wanted the original history and gameplay methods to be archived forever because it was just fine as it was. Sure they supported and promoted the future, but remembered their roots. It stayed open for 20 years until the current owners of Jagex destroyed it to further push the future, like they indoctrinated people like you to support. I'm not your enemy, I'm a person who respects the game's history and what it WAS. There's nearly none of what it was any more, and the new Jagex is making sure of that. It'll all be just a fading memory soon.
freezes zamorak? is osrs getting to fight zamorak to? when will that be :o it would be wierld lore wise if it is zamorak since he is originaly a mahjarat and they are not demons, they is faciliated with a lot of demons from the wars up to the 4th age but not demon themselfs.

Burning claws are pointless
Literally 2 decades worth of content that needs to be reworked but Jagex can't help but add new content. Shareholders know they can't introduce microtransactions or it will cause Evolution of Combat 2.0, so instead we get nonstop powercreep to pump up subscription numbers. Shareholders always win.
Power creep? These new weapons are super underwhelming, almost useless for any near-maxed account. BiS nowhere.
