    How the US Navy's New Aircraft Carriers Armed with F-35s Could Be Unstoppable
    The Navy is making lethality enhancing “modifications” to its next two new Ford-class aircraft carriers, to include weapons-oriented ship-adjustments intended to further increase overall aircraft carrier combat effectiveness.

      The issue from recent naval disasters we're that the crew piloting those ships were asleep. They're supposed to have three crews onboard or two. Those ships that crashed has less than 1 crew onboard and left port half staffed on board. No one was to get sleep onboard those ships that crashed. Admirals to captains and in between were never to control a ship again. Due to checking off that they shipped out of port with a crew. When in fact they didn't have a crew.

    I understand the pattern of naming today’s carriers after Presidents, famous sailors & other leaders, but I wish they’d consider bringing back a few of the other legendary carrier names on these new ones. I love the Enterprise, a name that should always be attached to a carrier or other top-of-the-line flagship. Wouldn’t it be great to have a new Yorktown, Lexington, Saratoga and/or Intrepid alongside her? Especially since a few of those WWII carrier names are now available?

  • @tekteam26

    Why do I have a funny feeling that those big, largely empty sponsons on either side of the arresting cables are going to eventually grow a pair of Mk41 VLS modules to replace those old Sea Sparrow octuple launchers?

    • @tekteam26
      @tekteam26 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would involve a major redesign that would be very expensive. It would be cheaper and quicker for the USN to fix EMALS, I strongly suspect. Also, those sponsons are nowhere near where the catapults are located, so they cannot even remotely be associated with them in any way, shape or form.

    • @americanmade6996
      @americanmade6996 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question; why DO you think that? First, what makes you think they are empty? Second, look where they are; do you think that a VLS would launch THROUGH THE FLIGHT DECK??

    • @tekteam26
      @tekteam26 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. Take a look at the SPONSONS on either SIDE of the flight deck.....you know....the big flat area that is a deck lower than the flight deck and where the octuple sea sparrow launcher is currently located. They are far larger than the sponsons used by the Nimitz class CVN's. A Mk. 41 VLS could easily be located on either side and not interfere with flight operations at all. An eight-cell self-defense version using ESSM in quad packs could hold 32 missiles easily. But there is enough space on either side for a 32 cell tactical length Mk 41. You could not only load quad-pack ESSM in those cells, but you could easily also load vertical-launch ASROC and SM-6 SAMS in those cells. This would give the Ford class the ability to handle saturation attacks that the octuple launchers simply could not defeat. The missiles in those cells could also be controlled by escorting AEGIS ships in cooperative engagements. Finally, you did notice that the Ford class CVN essentially have their own AEGIS phased radar with the AMDR radar system. Do you really think that they invested that much money into that radar just to have it play air traffic control? No way. That radar is meant to significantly improve the Ford's organic self defense capabilities. Adding Mk 41's to those huge sponsons makes absolutely perfect sense.

      It's amazing that the producers of this video can't find somebody to read the script. Is there nobody who can read aloud anymore?
      Also, the music is an annoyance. In the 21st Century, viewers obtain as much music as they want, and for free. Why do video makers think
      that music improves their videos? The music they pick is particularly bad. Very bad music. They are insecure, and feel the content of
      their videos will not hold an audience. They don't realize that the music they choose is so annoying, that people leave just because of the
      music. "But, everybody else does it." That is the rationale they use, and they have no idea what they are doing. They have information,
      which is what the video viewer clicks on the video in the first place, but the video producers insist on annoying music, which is a hold over
      from the 20th Century, when people had to pay for music. ~ Bum, bum, ba-bum, bum, bum, bum, ba-bum, bum, bum. ~ Stop this crap.

      Where are you going to find the people to manufacture in more ship building yards. Manufacturing is a trade and can take years to learn. If you haven't done it a while then you lose you edge. And building military equipment isn't like assembling a toaster. Plus young people don't want these jobs. They're dirty and have no future after a war because the corporate elites will send those jobs back to the very enemy we just defeated. Nope corporate America has shown us working people that these jobs have no future. I know I regret ever learning manufacturing as a trade.

Somebody once explained the more water a ship displaces, the faster it can go. So big ships are faster than small ones, given the same power ratio. krosny Not exactly. Those amphibious assault ships comprise the nucleus of the “Amphibious Strike Group” aka the landing force comprising Marine and Navy Personell. The F35 will support the landings with close air support in conjunction with other rotary assets such as OV-22, CH-53s and the like. Providing combat air cover for the entire fleet, including the ASG, is the Carrier Strike Group. Where ever there’s a ASG a CSG is also in the vicinity. The ASG does not have the air, counter-air or fleet defense capabilities of the CSG no matter how many of them you Group togeather. The ASG is not intended to act in the role of “Carrier Light” but to land Marines and landing force elements while providing localized Close Air Support via the F-35, OV-22, Cobra gunships and CH-53s.

      @@stevenshelton9443 They will in fact form their own independent strike groups among endless other possibilities.
      There are many levels of conflict below all out war. They will be more than enough for low intensity conflict able to lead their own assaults freeing supercarrier battle groups for higher priority missions.
      It is the vastly improved situational awareness that F-35Bs bring to the table that make F-35B light carriers serious instruments of power projection.
      Any country detecting such a strike group nearby would shit its pants knowing F-35Bs can launch their own strikes with plenty of situational awareness since their sensors talk to each other and soak up all electronic information in the battlespace.
      The enemy won't know if this group is screening for a supercarrier, creating a diversion (trying to split enemy air assets up), going for a high value target that must be defended at all costs or just probing enemy defenses to get them to reveal themselves in preparation for a main strike.
      The Marines and Navy know the future. And they like the absurd flexibility and power they will have with these F-35B light carriers.
      Btw, Japan gets it, too, with their F-35B light carriers.

    • @stevenshelton9443
      @stevenshelton9443 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      krosny the point your missing is that Amphibious Assault Ships that you refer to as F35 Carriers are not designed nor intended to act as “light carriers”. Their purpose is to carry Marines to the intended landing beeches and provide the required air support. Regardless of level of conflict their mission remains the same, Amphibious Assault, not Carrier fleet defense nor are built to act in the role
      Of Carrier under circumstanses. While the scenario you posit is an interesting one putting the ASG in the Carrier role
      Is erroneous. The F-35, for all its capabilities, replaced the aging Harrier and when they were aboard, some referred to those same ships as “Harrier Carriers” but the amphibious
      mission of these ships were the same, Amphibious Assault. To my knowledge that hasn’t changed.

    We need to build ships faster. We are only building 1 to 2 submarines a year. We build 1 destroyer a year. We should be building Atleast 3 to 4. We haven’t built new cruisers in ages. We should be Atleast upgrading the Ticonderoga’s! The navy has really let things go. We can do so much better while providing more jobs and boosting our economy.

    Must have been difficult for Senior Navel people to admit these new carriers were in trouble from hypo sonic missile that fly to fast for radar tracking let along targeting by defence systems.
    New direction is to keep carrier group further out to sea and to increase airborne refueling. What not said is with taking on additional tankers attack aircraft numbers being reduced. We have see already aircraft compliment reduced from 99 downwards to the 66 range or less. Operating fuel costs and quantity for F-35 is way above original design estimates reducing time between resupply further cutting back on mobility.
    Extra AA guns being added is further admission the screening ships not capable of adequate defence. I think we are seeing supposed savings in crew numbers being bled away.

      Exactly!!!! This is literally an aircraft carrier given the catapult, arresting systems and elevators are unreliable. Let's not mention the Littoral and Zumwalt class ships. The F16, F18 and F15 are more capable aircraft than the F35. Slick productions do not change the facts.
