I actually wasn't a huge fan of him. I was there for the last 1 1/2 years of RCOH and he always felt like he actually didn't care. He also was accused of theft. he was ok. most people called him Ronnie Ravioli or ol' braceface. I think the coolest thing he and the rest of that triad did was when they made announcements they each had their own phrase. I can't remember them now, but they were like strength and honor/valor/glory.

I was privileged to sit in the Captain's Chair in the CIC (Combat Information Centre) in Nov (?) '89. The Abe Lincoln was moored along-side at Alameda Naval Air Base, San Francisco. This was during the period when the Ship still 'Belonged' to the Ship-Builders (Norfolk Ship-Yard VA), prior to going on 'Sea-Trials' with the Navy, out in the Pacific. Talk of being Overwhelmed is an understatement, It wasn't until I was stood on the Dock-Side, looking up to the Flight Deck, and above that, the Superstructure, did I realise how BIG, this Ship really is. One other thing, I know how big the Flight Deck is (as i've walked it, Twice ! LOL) but them Pilots sure have my admiration for having the Cahonies to land on it, when it's Pitching and Rolling. God-Speed to All who Serve and Sail Aboard.

Really? The U.K. has two new 65,000 tonne ships that don’t need thousands of personnel, the ship has a crew of 1500. It’s fully automated from weapons selection through selecting the perfect position the ship needs to be in to launch its F35’s more effectively. They have full laser communication upload and download links to the Jets and have been made to fit a compliment of 40 Drone jet bombers, 32 F35’s jets from the UK, 32 F35’s from the USMC, not counting choppers and Ospreys.
A true collaboration of both nations.

In 2012 during the aftermath of tsunami that devastated Leyte in the Philippines it was an American carrier that was swift to respond & lent a helping hand to the victims..... I guess that’s karma for fighting a useless war just for money. No one enters the military except for the benefits. Signing your life away is serious. You basically are an object at that point... a tool. When tools aren’t needed anymore, they’re discarded.

"Pride" is in virtually every individual who serves in our dearly beloved United States Navy. Some of our younger sailors may take a bit of time to develop pride in their Navy. But, virtually every sailor and every young officer who will ever wear the uniform will, sooner or later, develop pride in our Navy. My late father was a Navy doctor. My brother served as a Navy chaplain. Andrew "Andy" McKane IV, former hospital corpsman, United States Navy, 1970-1971.
