Tournament Fighters for SNES was the first fighting game that I ever owned, or played for that matter. I remember playing it with my dad when I was 4 years old. Such a great game!
@D core Sega version definitely got it better. The limitations of the Genesis graphics would make more sense to base it more on the comics. Sega games tended to be darker and grittier. I think this even set the tone for Sega a lot.
@@davejohn3600 That is one biggest false narratives of the Genesis. The limited colors palette in comparison to the SNES doesn't equal the Genesis being better suited for darker/grittier style games. Sega could have released an entire library of "colorful" games. In fact the it takes much less artistic skill to pull of a colorful game on the Genesis then a "dark/gritty" game where shading is far more important. The Genesis limited color palette leaned it's self towards games that used high contrast and bold colors. The SNES can pull of dark/gritty games far better because the extra colors can be used for shading and depth. Why does the Genesis have more dark/gritty games on average one was completely reliant on the western market and saw tons of software development in the west (Genesis). The SNES was so Japanese dominated in software development they obviously got games that appealed to their tastes and the cutesy colorful games that come with it. The SNES definitely had a bunch of pastel colors the Genesis didn't have and lots of games make use of them.
@@supersexysega I think Sega tried to market more of an arcade look. They also targeted older gamers. As for the colors and grittier look. All I know is that when games that were relatively the same like Street Fighter 2 came out for both. The Sega games always looked darker and grittier. No matter what company made the games. I had both systems growing up, even all the Sega add ons. Yes, they had colorful games like Sonic but SNES could do more since it was newer.
@@davejohn3600 There are tons of side by sides on TH-cam and like I said simply a false narrative. You are right about you're specific comparison of SF2 Turbo SNES vs SF2 SCE Genesis. MK 2 SNES vs Genesis would be an even better case in your favor. The SNES verison uses alot of pastel colors. The Genesis version is really gritty/dark looking. What about Super Street Fighter 2 On SNES vs Genesis. m.th-cam.com/video/Mhqx01tF_Hk/w-d-xo.html Maximum Carnage Genesis vs Snes m.th-cam.com/video/sOQBNF7SQSo/w-d-xo.html Separation Anxiety Genesis vs SNES. m.th-cam.com/video/HRvgBagyBFw/w-d-xo.html The Genesis could have an entire library of games that look like Dynamite Headdy, Monster World IV, Fantasy Zone, Ristar and Crusader of Centy etc. Then half the comments are these look like SNES games. The extra colors have 0 to due with a game being brighter/more colorful. The extra colors will always used for better shading and smoother gradients. The Genesis also made extensive use of dithering Especially later in the generation to give the illusion of more colors. This method works great on old tube TV's via composite but not on modern displays.

Wow, that was a sudden blast of memories when I heard the voices from the Sega TMNT game. That was the first fighting game i ever owned. I played it tons.
Genesis TF's combo system...is pretty nonexistent. I like how it looks and sounds, but the gameplay feels lackluster. SNES TF borrows a lot from SF2 (CE and HF), including the hit confirms and even some advanced stuff like some 1f chains. Some people could say game isn't original in some ways, but in this case it makes the game a really solid fighter that can even work competitively. So yah, SNES version wins.

Glad you mentioned the smashing stages and ending for the Genesis. I knew the SNES was gonna win but glad the game I grew up with got love.
Great video, guys! Keep going! It was also nice to see my comment in the end of the video.
A good game to do an episode on is "True Lies". Awesome game.
After playing both of them a lot thanks to TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection. I strongly agree SNES had the better TMNT fighting game.
Good to have you guys back! And a great episode, too!
Also, this is a big if, but I'd love to see you guys do an episode on the Dragon Ball Z fighting games for Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, those being Super Butouden 2 and Bu Yuu Retsuden respectively.
Never even knew this game existed. Wow. Thanks for bringing it out !
This was a really good one . Well done !
Thanks!
Tournament Fighters for SNES was the first fighting game that I ever owned, or played for that matter. I remember playing it with my dad when I was 4 years old. Such a great game!
Console wars suggestion: Clayfighter - Snes vs Sega.
You guys deserve more subs. You've been here for a while and are pretty entertaining. Your older videos bring me back like avgn. Im definitely a fan
Thanks!
I feel like both games dropped the ball on the characters. The SNES not having Casey Jones is probably the worst.
@D core Sega version definitely got it better. The limitations of the Genesis graphics would make more sense to base it more on the comics. Sega games tended to be darker and grittier. I think this even set the tone for Sega a lot.
lol
What about
Super Street Fighter 2 On SNES vs Genesis. m.th-cam.com/video/Mhqx01tF_Hk/w-d-xo.html
Maximum Carnage Genesis vs Snes

Separation Anxiety Genesis vs SNES.

The Genesis could have an entire library of games that look like Dynamite Headdy, Monster World IV, Fantasy Zone, Ristar and Crusader of Centy etc. Then half the comments are these look like SNES games.
The extra colors have 0 to due with a game being brighter/more colorful. The extra colors will always used for better shading and smoother gradients. The Genesis also made extensive use of dithering
Especially later in the generation to give the illusion of more colors. This method works great on old tube TV's via composite but not on modern displays.
Ah. The mid 90s Street Fighter craze. Where every franchise that was even remotely recognizable was given their own fighting game.
I knew that Nintendo was gonna mop the floor with Sega in this particular episode!
Super Turrican Vs. Mega Turrican should be interesting. (I think I even suggested that one!)
D core Yeah your right the Saga version was boring and for kids unlike the SNES version winch was way more fun and for all ages.
Super Turrican 2 was actually better than both previous versions
I have clicked on "watch" mode many times on SNES Tournament Fighters. It was to put different characters against each other and see who would win....it would've been cooler to set individual difficulty for each character but I'll take what I can get.
Really solid break down as always, guys! Loved the skits. Sam definitely looked the part of April, and the Casey costume was awesome! Dan's Shredder costume looks a bit halloweenish though, you should've went to the Sharper Image for it instead... (get it?) :P Anyways, I had a lot of difficulty playing the game back in the day and could never get into it, but your video made me want to give the SNES version a second chance. The graphics are fantastic here. Really impressed with the visuals in the background and the superior tunes (IMO at least).
I get it!
Personally, these games aren't for me. I'm terrible at fighting games and they both kick me ass (especially the sega game).
Fun Fact: this game (or at least to my knowledge) is the first appearance of Karai. She is known as a big part of the Turtles mythos nowadays.
First video game appearance anyway.
If you guys ever get the chance, I'd like to see you take on Star Trek: DS9 Crossroads of Time for both SNES and Genesis. Great episode, as always! ^^
I think that's the best "That's it..." you've done 😂😂
Congrats on almost getting almost 600 viewers on the live stream. Keep it up CW!
Thanks for being at the premiere!
@@ConsoleWars You're very welcome, just trying to show my support!
Mutant Warriors is the best version since Aska has her whole ass hanging out in that game.
My game right here boys. I'll give you credits dudes.
TMNT games were pretty good back in the day. Nothing like the Turtles in Time beat em up. Now that was the game!
I legit didn’t know this game was even on the Genesis. Nostalgia plays no factor here, SNES is clearly better in every way!
@D core lol sure...
@D core Sega fanboy. Stop defending it
That was a really fun episode, one of the best. Thank you guys.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Oh. My. Effin’. YESSSSS!!!
Great episode, guys. So good to have you back!
I'm surprised you did a episode on this one. I always heard the Genesis version was universally hated. Seems like no contest.
Yush! Time to marathon some of the earlier episodes to get into the console wars mood!
my favorite part of this video is the fact there are no typos
Little inside Patreon joke, eh?
Thanks guys, great episode!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Welcome back fellas!
Who would've guessed Shredder had a humorous side or Casey sounding like the Dark Knight Batman XDD
Glad to see you guys back! Stay safe during the pandemic and see y'all next time!
The AI difficulty of the Mega Drive version was also insanely tough. It was ridiculous. One of the biggest flaws that game had imo.
It was a lot harder, but people seen to hate it when we complain about difficulty.
@@ConsoleWars Understandable, though I think it would have been warranted in this case. I could overlook many of the game's other problems but the AI completely ruined the playing experience for me. It turned what could have been an enjoyable game into a frustrating slogfest.
Been waiting for this one. GREAT job!!! :D
Elayzee Glad you enjoyed it!
Stooop, Sega's already deeead! Q ^ Q
Please look at my medical bracelet UGH!!
I have counted up all the Sega/Nintendo wins so far throughout all the Console Wars episodes and they are tied at 36-36 wins each! plus 2 games that were a tie.
It’s funny how the Nintendo fanboys often comment saying Nintendo destroys SEGA every time 😂 morons.
Dan Green And how "SEGA was winning too much because of Dan".
Truth is, Nintendo fanboys are overreacting. :/
Wow, looks like you upped the budget of the design department too!! Check out that 3D Mike and Console Wars logo!!
I (Pat) did the design, which is one of my favorites so far. Thanks for the compliment!
@@DecayNJ You did good!
It's not even close how the SNES version crushes the Genesis version. Great video guys.
Damn! A queen sweep for the SNES! Has that even ever happened? Annnnd that Shredder costume was just... lol bad 🤣 you guys are just fuck it - punk rock TH-camrs 🤘
Thanks!
I love console wars,
Big fan of yours!
Greetings from Guatemala
😃😃
Cowabanga. Thanks for the video guys!
I've always wondered which version was better. I've even lost sleep since 1993... Thanks for making this video!!
Looks like we only got the bad ending since everyone knows Don is the best turtle
D core bruh, it's a fighting game. The most important thing is the gameplay, and that's where the SNES version wins by a mile, they even used the Archie Comics characters (chars that I didn't know in most cases) in a relatively creative way, moveset wise.
I missed console wars, great to see you guys back
Dan:THATS IT! Are We Doing This During Quarantine? Pat:Yup Both:Best TMNT Tournament Fighters!
Hells yeah, I've been longing for this 1. Much thanks!
Thanks for watching!
