Back in the early 90’s my family stopped off in Las Vegas at Whiskey Pete’s. There was a big screen version of the T2 arcade game and all the kids gathered around to play it. I was totally sucked in and amazed by the graphics and set pieces just like the movie. Good times.

Not that it mattered, since T3 more or less shat on the whole "no fate but what we make" coda established in T2 (and the less said about Salvation onwards, especially Wokeinator Dark Fake, the better.)
L.O.L., and what DIDN'T you have to destroy in that level, in order to truly beat the game? Apparently even telephones, fire alarms & extinguishers, lights/lamps, signs, and mere drinking cups somehow determined if the machines would succeed or not too! The desk drawers at least made far more sense, since there could have been vital, classified information in them at least though! 😂

Well.... 320 pixels is 64 more than 256 pixels in width.
Even the atari 7800 manages higher resolution at 320 * 192 or 320 * 240! (In some modes.)

I think you nailed the appeal of Console Wars: the perfect amount of cheesiness blended with a passion for video games and filmmaking (due to some ACTUAL production value being present) while being entertaining and comedic in nature.

You know how I know that Console Wars is pretty high quality and have high production values? I initially thought that the Weird Al video was real.
We work hard to bring you guys the best production we can.
Pro tip for the SNES, you take less damage using P2. Damage is divided down the middle of the screen and as the screen moves to the right, enemies move faster from the right side of the screen versus those from the left who have to walk with the screen moving. This leads to less enemies attacking on the right side. Hence less damage for P2. I always found myself dying far less using the P2 position.

@@geebounit clay fighters? Never heard of it. You sure that's even a game? Listen man. I know my fudge and that is 100% a picture of fudge. Fudge fighter 63 1/3 for sega Neptune. I used to play it all the time when I was a kid.
Haha, I thought the picture was chocolate fudge too, which is a dessert. So I was thinking the next game might be "Desert Fighter." But apparently that game is only on Super Nintendo and not Sega Genesis so that wouldn't work.
This episode of Console Wars was better than any of the films from T3 forward.
I liked Salvation though. I walked out on Genesis or Genesys or whatever
@@RockmanMegaX My dislike of Terminator Salvation lies at the acting performance of Sam Worthington, the character that didn't know he was a machine. I don't care for him as an actor.
@@OnionLancer If that’s the case then you’ve given the movie an unfair opinion. It’s not nearly as strong as the first two entries but it’s definitely not horrible. Worthington had some strong acting points though I don’t think he keeps up with Bale. I’ll give it a 60%.
@@RockmanMegaX You're correct. I'll not deny my bias against Worthington, thus my dislike of the film. I'm not saying it's fair, but I'm unable to separate my dislike of Worthington's performance from the film as a whole.

Salvation sucks. They are supposed to be Terminators not throw people around inators. Plus the fact that it follows T3 broken ass which is impossible since T2 prevented Judgement Day (I don't care what the other films say, there is no way Judgement Day can happen at the end of T2) since Kate Brewster is in Salvation. Plus for end of the world they all seem to have perfect teeth and hygenie plus the sun with it being nice and warm (when there should be a nuclear winter) also hurts the film.
Being PG-13 was the dumbest thing they did to the series.
I know that there was a lot of scenes on the cutting room floor, but these are the best. Thanks guys!
I’ve been hoping you guys’d make this episode ever since “Revolution X”. Probably because that was available as a conversion kit for T2 in arcades. The trivia bits that stick with me…

This episode is amazing, and it’s very interesting for see that the SNES game gets much brighter with the Super Scope, I wonder if that’s because of the Super Scope’s sensing abilities as a light gun.

@@BossZnakemaster couldn't tell you exactly but we ALL know MOST of the time snes had BETTER graphics, presentation and sound ... Sega strength was gameplay... so that's been my observation and I've seen ALL of these it's mostly 3 to 1 snes and I'm a Sega guy so you can believe me 😀👍
@@BossZnakemaster As of the Ghostbusters video, including when they won the worst version, Sega has won 41 times, Nintendo has won 44 times and one was a tie (Battletoads and Double Dragon). So I'd say a pretty even split.

I always preferred the look of the Genesis game more. The sprites and colours really captured the Terminator feel, even if the Snes version looked closer to the Arcade.
It’s such a shame, I played this on the game gear at friends house when I we be lad. But didn’t know that this was out got the sega Genesis. I don’t care which one was better but growing up in the 90’s with no internet and barely any knowledge of gaming. Makes me realize how much I missed out on. T_T

But the mega drive/genesis version was probably my favourite shoot em up ever.

Stupendous episode, "T2" was one of favorite movies as a kid. I don't think I've played Arcade game or any of the home ports. I will say the "Deleted Scenes" had me cracking up, especially the first one with the lightsaber. Hm, "Star Wars" and "The Terminator" now that would be a killer crossover. :D

I recently sold my T2 for the sega genesis, and no regrets because I couldn't get past the truck stage even with a friend.

@@srstabalot I play T2 for Sega Genesis on MGemu almost every day and have no problem with that level. All you have to do is worry about the flying machines (or whatever it is called) and remember the order in wich they appeare.

Watching it again I think you have the wrong impression of how sprite art was made in ports, like the arcade game is 400x254 in resolution and the SNES is 256x224 so somebody had to manually convert all the art regardless on either platform.
So the arcade sprites weren't used directly on SNES and the Genesis ones made "from scratch" as it took labor to do both conversions. Seen some new algorithms and filters for that kind of conversion now but in the past it was just elbow grease jsyk.

been watching for a while now and I gotta say I prefer this comedic style over just standard comparison videos. I find myself hanging around for games I'd never care about more than just watching someone point out differences between the console versions. it also seems like across the board both consoles had their equal share of strong suits and down falls lol
I'm not complaining, I also prefer SNES version, but I thought that you have had the opposite conclusion when you compared these games inside Sega Menacer vs SuperScope episode.
I gues they meant the gun works better overall on Sega, but everything else related to it is better on SNES.

Ironically i made a video called "T2 Arcade Steven C. Edition" few days before this video was posted. Its me as terminator in the human hide out level of the game. i basically put myself inside the game. The videos private now cause i thought it was kinda lame lol. But its crazy how two people can have similar ideas at around the same time. Wouldnt be the first time i experienced some thing like this.

@@DecayNJ The other beers were Flying Dog summer variety pack. We drank a lot of them when we filmed.
Those extras were good stuff. Went and watched Mad TV's Terminator Jesus skit again after I watched this. It's also fun to see that the SNES mouse had more use beyond Mario Paint. TERMINATED.
