There is a big design flaw with the XR150. Mine was leaking oil out of the airbox drain tube. It ended up being oil puking up from the crankcase breather because the tube makes a 90 degree right into the airbox. There is a video on TH-cam by Torture Test Magazine called "fed up with the xr150" i followed to add a verticle tube with a 90 degree and loop around into airbox. Seems to of helped
@TimeMachinesATVs intresting eh, maybe theres something else going on none of use know about yet. Mine didnt have alot in the airbox but enough that it dripped a few drops to make me do something about it, didnt really measure the amount of oil that came out but ill start to
If you look at the timing gear on the camshaft it has a horizontal line that shows when you are TDC if you line it up with the barrel so you don't even have to remove the plug down below on the crankcase cover. I only had to adjust my intake valve and I was down just a little bit on the oil. I did mine at 597 and at just under 1400 miles now.
@@TimeMachinesATVs Mine is new so no worry about skipped timing and when at TDC both valves can be moved slightly with my fingers. 180 out won't be like that. I just passed that on because I learned it from another video and it worked like a champ.
It sounds like with it having emissions stuff it’s gunna be pulling crankcase gases into the intake the oil is mixing with the air being atomized and then slowly being burnt off along with being in break in period cylinder wall still has the cross hatching to seat the rings so there’s gunna be some getting by the piston oil ring but on a level you can’t detect from the exhaust aka blue smoke miles dosnt really matter it’s the hrs such little amount of oil requires more frequent oil checks on the dip stick it’s the life of the moter had a Honda 250x it was a mosquito fogger before the rebuild had to add half qrt in 6hrs trail and hill climbing 😂🤣 did rebuild and spent 40hrs breaking in idle to half throttle only thing was a beast after that and no oil consumption between changes but did them every 6 tanks of gas heat is was breaks down oil so air cooled moters are different then liquid cooled🤓
You've been putting in a quart of oil? The owners manual clearly states 1.1 quarts after draining. So, it's hard to tell how much oil it might be losing if it is not quite getting refillied with enough oil after draining. Also, the "Torture Test" channel guy who noticed oil coming out of the breather tube was riding that thing like a full blown mototcross bike. So, I would not be surprised he was slinging oil out of there. Anyhoo....just some thoughts. I really enjoy your channel.
Time machine would how hot these run burn the oil? I just bought one, I’m at 584 miles and going to be doing my 600 mile oil change and valve inspection this weekend. Just curious, this is my first enduro and now I’m wondering if I f’d up with buying this 150 lol. Seems to stall quite often too, I plan to change my jet after the 600 mile maintenance.
So it's basically a 2 stroke, add 2oz of oil per gallon of fuel?! 😂 I really want one these because of the price, but I'm 6'2" 275Lbs.. My commute is approximately 40miles a day. I could take trails home for some fun?! The oil did look clean?! 😂
Turning bigger wheels makes a difference. Also taller profile with more wind resistance. When I took my Dodge Ram to open drag night years ago I noticed a lot of people swap out their 20 inch wheels for 15's to get better acceleration.
P.S. I had a YSR 50 2-stroke pit bike when I race in the 80's that did 65 with a pipe and carb and gearing change. It did 50 stock and that was only 50 cc's. So take that GROM riders.
It is NOT normal for and engine like that to use so much oil and it's common with this model. That's the reason to keep me from buying one until the find the reason and the cure. This is BS.
Sweet valve tool! They do use a little oil. Our 2 bikes use about 4-8 once’s between oil changes. I also think the breather is the problem.

Ive checked tube and box but yet to find oil in it. Going to try again after next long ride

I think a lot depends on how you ride it. He rides the hide off of that thing.
crank case breather is what ive seen from other ppl that have oil issue@@TimeMachinesATVs

I have a habit of checking both because it can be 180 out and also buying machines that arent running that couldve jumped time.

Крутий байк, в мене також такий 2022 року
Honda lovers be like "That's normal for break-in period".
Exactly
I was under the impression valves were to be done on a COLD engine.
Its brand new and high rpm use... perfectly normal oil consumption.. keep your eye on it, it'll be fiiiiine
Nope. Wrong. Crank breather.. brother… trust us no oil in exhaust
It’s the breather causing your oil consumption.
Hi there TimeMachines - I wondered what u ultimately decided was the source of mysterious oil loss. rgds & tnx, AstroMike
This engine is like a Toyota just burns oil like crazy
Synthetic oils have a 30% evap rate. Check you levels often.

Get up in there

Definitely a cool bike I'm surprised you didn't get something way bigger she's burning oil😂
Nice double cradle chasis
Ever have any luck finding oil loss issue ?

You check your bikes dipstick when they are level or tilted on the side stand?
If it's burning oil, might as well 2 stroke swap it.
The oil is consumed because of the case breather 100%
Did you do 300 mile brake in
What phone mount do you have on it?

Honorary 2-smoke 🤣
Link to valve adj tool ?
Any update?
70 ? Sounds like it's slower then the grom 😂 and its supposed to be a 150 vs a 125 .

I"m with you on that. No way I'm buying something new that burns oil like that.
