      433 suits united’s current squad down to a tee imo, with Fred as the number 6 but should’ve been upgraded in the window

    • @aakarmamtora3470
      @aakarmamtora3470 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The 433 may not have the best suited midfielders for it but it gives the team more balance. The wingers and bruno were not really effective in the 4222 and now are doing better with elanga and rashford both being influential. What the team lacked was a creative element in the final third as bruno dropped deep. Sancho would be the ideal player for the imo. He was unfortunate that once rangnick shifted to the 433 in the last 4 games he has been absent due to injury or personal issues.

      United don't have a quality Defensive Midfielder. McTominay, Fred and Pogba are box-to-box mids while Matic is the only DM but he is not as fit and young as he used to be. Matic cannot play the full 90 mins nor can he play 2 games in a week.
      McTominay and Fred are not a net positive value players. Fred is technically poor- has a bad touch, loses ball frequently, rushes into duels and fluffs his line. He compensates his poor tech with hard work and availability.
      They don't have a balanced midfield. Pogba needs players behind him to cover for his mistakes, turnovers and his lack of defensive duties in midfield. He needs a Kante lind of partner but you will rarely find a more a workhorse like Kante in Europe anymore.

    • @nitinsinghania8059
      @nitinsinghania8059 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it suits the team but we need a defensive midfield solution asap otherwise we will use matic for 45 min and then switch to 532. Or we can play look Shaw as CDM I know it's bad but he can pass long ball very well and he can defend ball well with his physicality. We can try that. Need Pogba as 8 as need creativity in midfield.
      Btw you explained the prev formation problems very well .

      @sususegar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AngryJawa0094 Don't think he needs to unless necessary, as according to Michael Cox recently the trend for a back 3 has dropped. Teams might still deploy it if they want to got 1v1 for every man against a team that plays a back 3, but overall it's going out of fashion. Teams used it at first only when they faced Conte's Chelsea, then some found use for it as it still had an element of surprise against some teams who can't handle it.
      But most teams have now figured out how to play against it without deploying back 3 as well (and it also requires very, very good wing backs which is rare to find). That's partly why Chelsea is on a yo-yo form too, as well as losing Chilwell and James.

      You and most Man United' fans have been manipulated by Rangnick since he first came. Rangnick is liar. He is using Man United to give his former employee jobs. And he made people like you to believe, if Man United want to catch European big club's level like Bayern, Madrid, PSG, even Liverpool and Man City, then the MLS' level that are brought by his two incompentence assistants would be solutions. At first he acted like he would bring new fresh stronger tactics, but at the end he and his incompentence assistants are completely no clue and only copy Ole's formation, choice of players and results.

    My personal opinion about Ralf Ragnick's formation and style :
    - First of all , he just started , he did not have pre season , nor the players he wants for his style. So it will take time for him to adapt his style to the team
    - From a creative chances , his only player that does that in the midfield is Bruno Fernandez , back then it was Pogba + Bruno , but due to Pogba been out of shape , its Bruno carrying most of it. Most united midfielders are like box to box , defensive midfielders that are recovering the ball , and fast pass
    - In addition to that , Bruno most of the time is not playing where he wants , which is in the middle as CAM or as a center midfield. Putting him on the wing or left middle its like taking away his explosiveness and creativity in the middle of the pitch where he does danger
    - Also Ralf Ragnick comes with the 4-2-2-2 so that the midfield can cover for the right and left back and the strikers can cover for the midfield. This leads to more consistent ball recovery , and will not make United lose games like 0-5 or 4-1 lol
    - Playing with two strikers these days is not really ideal , since they can collide with each other or they can take each other space. It also takes away creative chances since two players will go for the finish. But Ralf knows that Cavani in Uruguay plays with Luis Suarez and CR7 played with Benzema back in RM , so both CR7 and Cavani knows how to synergize with each other.
    - Overall , I believe is very unfair to make conclusions about Ralf's style and formation , he can't give results right away. Example like Kloop , he needed at least 3-4 years to completely adapt his pressing style into Liverpool , and make them the beast they are today (winning Champions League 2019 and Premier League 2020)

    This analysis is incomplete and somehow failed to explain the real United problem.
    United problem is the consistency of their player and what kind of passes they would opt for their game.
    You can see this in City. Guardiola opted for agile players who had really good ball control rather than physical.
    United tradition is basically preferred 'physical rather than dynamic'. Except for Ronaldo and Giggs, I never saw United players in the past dribble the ball.
    All play straightforward fast passes to the box and use physical in winning the ball.
    I think United coaching team is confused because most United players are not fit to play that style.

    I think Ragnick knows the tactical side and development of teams very well, we hv seen dalot against the likes of valencia where he heavily struggled specially in 1v1s but under ragnick in a pressing system, he has been good, he needs to show more going forward but i think that will come as we hv seen him at Milan, ragnick is making every player work hard and they r playing like a team more.

    Interesting point about the cbs not being progessive enough. Although maguire is fine in that regard I always thought lindelof's passing compensates that well. Varane isn't that progressive in both passes or carries but is still probably our best defender so he needs to start. But I think the midfield also has a slight influence on how cbs behave as normally mctominay is the one to stay deeper if he and fred play. Mctominay is known to not make himself available for passes or dropping back to create a back 3 or to open up passing lanes. This can be an issue for the cbs as they have to take a risky action or not take it at all imo.

    if he use 4222, the best he could play would be :
    Ronaldo - Cavani
    Mata/Greenwood - Lingard/Pogba
    Matic/Fred - McTominay
    Telles - Bailly - Varane - Dalot
    De Gea
    With Ronaldo staying up waiting for the moment to make a run behind defender, Cavani being the 2nd striker, dropping deep to link up play, Mata being the sole playmaker, while Lingard, Pogba, or Greenwood making the 3rd man run or move up as 2nd striker when Cavani drop.
    Double pivot protecting the back line, while the full back provide widths while attacking.
    on theory, that is the best Rangnick can get out of the available squad.

      I see after the failure and all the stories came out how bunch of first team players met with ralf and told him to change the formation back to the 4231 the reasons behind it was evident in this video. This formation would have worked if we had a better 2 pivots playing behind the 10s and if it was only Bruno and Sancho, as Greenwood doesn’t progressive passed, and rashford was terrible later on. Plus we need a new rb and healthy Shaw. The whole defence progression wasn’t great either as maguire was our best and he was still 70+% if I remember correctly. Wonder if all the supposedly new additions would make the 4222 work or how will eth run it

    Glad I decided to watch the video before I made the comment, cause I know your insight always makes sense. You saw the key issue - personell i.e. the players. A good cdm is tha backbone of any club. Without that, we are doomed to relyin on individual talent and luck until the end of the season, which in the PL is just mot sustainable. I'm glad 'borough knocked us out and can't wait for Atletico to do the same, so that we can direct all our efforts into somehow maybe reaching top 4. Fk silverware, give up on this season...I can't even say it's the team-building phase, because how can you build a tesm around poor cdm's? After not having signed a cdm in januray, I have no idea what utd's plans are...I have no idea what to hope for, because it's not like we can just buy Haidara, Rice, Zakaria, De jong, whoever and then expect them to fit right in st the start of next season...and by the time they lesrn to olsy together, city, chelsea and liverpool will already be lile 10 points ahead. Do you realize I'm talking about next season? It's actually reasonable to expect Utd to flop 22/23 as well and if you're incorrigibly optimistic, like I am, hipe for something better in 23/24...although by that time, there's probably gonna be another virus that will stop football for a good while...idfk...as a utd fan, it's been fkn arduous watching this team and no cdm after january just looks so ominous...

    Midfield has been united's biggest problem since ole's reign. Progression wise, fred and Scott don't have the vision to spot the right movement from the players while defensively they lack of speed to anticipate negative transitions.
    Bruno has been the only one to ignite the creative spark for the team. Despite having a decent passing skills, his end passing get cut off oftenly due to limited options in the final third.
    The two wingers oftenly seek for personal glory and tend to shoot from the second line rather than seeking best possible option to pass in the penalty box.
    Ffs, if Manu want to at least stay in the top four. They gotta buy 2 or 3 decent midfielders

    I just don't feel the 4-2-2-2 is a strong enough formation. It needs some much graft to work it doesn't lend itself naturally to the players, the formation even though should on paper help them dominate midfield is actually and usually where the battle is lost for United, massive open space either develop on the wings or in the middle of the park consistently. Leading to DDG facing I think the most shots at his goal, but thanks to not outstanding finishing, at least some decent defensive drilling but mostly DDG's superb form, he's kept RR from blushing at his teams poor performances.
    I still think United's best formation is 4-3-3 ot 4-3-2-1. The lines are better suited to defending a high and low press, it covers the wings and midfield equally meaning breaking it down should be harder. The weakest area is still the midfield, so the two CDM's must make a triangle with the number 10 and wingers to keep passing options. Wingers keep the 5-20 rule distance from the side-line depending on overload distance. To help with the overload only one Fullback can push up, either helping midfield or overlapping support for the winger. This means 3-man defence at all times, preferably AWB stays back, his pace and tackling ability compensates for the CB's lack of pace, the attack will usually always come down the pressing fullbacks open shadow so AWB can either sweep in the middle or Varane's pace should be enough to lock down the wing, that's a weakness I'd have to test to iron out. Midfield can cover the open shadow overload, however it's best they're kept in the midfield to keep passing triangles, but the team should naturally shift to the overload side making covering the open shadow easier unless the opposition are able to shift the overload side from range, but this is when the 3-man defence covers that difficult pass. What I would give to be given the chance to drill this into the team.

    The players just aren't good enough to cope with Ralf's style so he's having to be pragmatic to have any chance of clinching top 4.
    Number 18 is one of the worst footballers I've ever seen in my lifetime and anyone who thinks otherwise should really stop pretending to be a football fan because they clearly know nothing about it. No competent footballer, especially one at the highest level, would ever just BOOT the ball away when pressed.
    I really can't wrap my head around deluded United fans watching Penandes literally curl atrocious hospital passes toward his fucking goal like he did against Watford & think that's acceptable. It's not acceptable to be looping backward passes BEHIND his teammates because he cannot deal being pressed by an Istanbul player.
    I'm sorry, but you haven't got the technical ability to put your foot on the ball & pass it simply & calmly in tight spaces, you're NOT a good footballer by any stretch of the imagination.
