  • A simple step by step video to help you fix that controller issue.
    Yup it happened to me, 2 years later the controller packs in, time to get it fixed. :)
    You will need
    Scissors or something sharp to cut the chunky mofo(adapter) on the wire.
    Some kind of tape to seal the deal
    A mini phillips screwdriver
    As a recommended guarantee of long term repair.
    Soldering iron (If you are between the ages of 16 or less Adult supervision is required)
    Music in soldering scene N'to petite
    I do not own this content, just background audio when you are working it.
    I hope this guide helps you.
    Thank you and happy gaming.

    All my wires were severed. I cut the wire holder off, stored the wires, twisted them back together and put the unit back after using insulation tape . I just duct taped the wire around the bar to the unit and it's solid. Works great.

      MyCoolester it will be just the wire. The circuit should be fine.

    • @Tuatara1989
      @Tuatara1989 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, and if you don't have a soldering iron, it'll most likely still work if you wrap the wires together and tape them (insulate them from the other wires!).

    • @Tuatara1989
      @Tuatara1989 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      MyCoolester: I'm no expert, but let me weigh in! Are you absolutely sure? I think a broken cable is often not clearly visible. Does it matter whether you move the controller or the cable or does it keep happening even if it's perfectly still?
      If it still happens then, well, I don't think anyone here knows how to fix that. If the controller is not old, you should contact Customer Support. If it is, I'd just throw it out. If you're into DIY projects, you can save both the cable and analog sticks for future projects (you have to unsolder them though). The cable often breaks and you can replace it, you analog sticks get crappy when they get really old.

    Familiarize yourself with your camera's minimum focus distance. Also, you want the wire to wick up the solder. You might need to add some flux into the mesh of wires you tied together to get them to suck up the solder a little better.

    Excellent. thanks. Got this issue with two wired controllers. obviously a design fault or poor/cheap material choice... but looks relatively easy to fix. thanks again for the video :-)

    Thank you a lot, I repaired my controller.
    In my case I didn't find any cuts or twists among the wires so I had to remove about 4 inches from the cable to make sure I got over the broken wire then connected it again, Thought someone might find a similar problem.

    Thanks for the video, having the same problem, might try it out.
    About your focus issue though. :p
    If you want the camera to focus, you need to move the cam away from the thing you are filming. You keep moving it closer, which means the closer it is, the harder it is to find the focus. Move it away, find the focus, then slowly move it closer until it unfocuses again. Right before that happens is sweet spot. That's the closest you can get with the cam you have. If it's a phone, you can tap the screen on the spot you want to focus on, then you tell the camera which part is the important part and it will try to focus on that.
    Just a friendly tip for the future :)
    Thanks for the video.

    • @Danjovisagat
      @Danjovisagat  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      you will need to strip some of the red coating of both ends of the red wire and twist them together, it should work. I hight recommend a soldering iron if it persists. Sorry to hear that.

    @nsipnsi1529 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm glad I came across your video after countless hours of softwarerelated troubleshooting.
    Question: Was in your case the insulation also damaged?
    Because mine was fine and it took me some time to find the spot where the wire was disconnected

    • @Danjovisagat
      @Danjovisagat  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The case insulation was fine nothing damaged there, the problem was located underneath where the wire had broken off, I had to cut the insulation open to get to the wire basically.

    Hi, I plugged in my Xbox controller and for some reason, it doesnt respond. However, if i move the wire a little bit, the light flashes for a millisecond, then stops. I do this a few other times, and sometimes it doesnt even do anything. It cost £20 - is this price even worth it?

    The black "Xbox 360 controller for Windows" had a cable that was a piece of crap. I remember buying a white one when the console was still on sale and it works perfectly fine until today, except for one of the bumpers, that also was a hassle when it bended.

    • @Danjovisagat
      @Danjovisagat  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nj Jt when you wrap the wire around the control be sure not to wrap the beginning of the wire around the controller. it will cause less strain on the wires, be sure to leave it sticking out but the rest wrapped around if that makes sence.
      I am led to believe when the whole wire is wrapped around the controller it causes stress on the internal wires.
      Great question
      sorry i didnt mention that!

      Connect the wires on the controller, be sure to expose some of the wire on both sides.
      white connects to white
      red connects to red
      green connects to green
      black connects to black
      so the colors match and connect to xbox or pc.
      You should see it work. It may take a few attempts keep checking the wires..
      I believe you can do it.

      Hello Christopher, sorry to hear about this issue.
      If it is definitely the Xbox 360 controller you will need to strip off the adapter thingy and reconnect the wires as one of more of the mini wires has snapped underneath the wire sleve. As shown in 1:39 in the video.
      Did I get the controller right?
      This video can show you how to get the controller reconnected.
      :)

    my black wire is ripped and the same thing happening like this but you do hard way to fix it and I need all the equipment for it any other way ?😊

    • @Danjovisagat
      @Danjovisagat  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you do not have the recomended tools, i suggest ripping the coating ends off the broken wires and twisting them together making sure the colour matches , make sure they do not come undone and once done, tape er up good. :)

    i know its kinda late but what is the name of that silver shiny wire? because it was disconnected on my cabels and i couldnt connect the controller only if the silver wire touched each other so i connected the silver wire with a material that conducts electricity and then the controller worked for 1 day. in the second day my controller started to have the same problem and now i wanted to ask you how could i replace the silver wire or is that wire really unneccesary like you say in your video because i think without that i cant connect my controller to my pc

    cannot seem to find broken wire..

    • @Danjovisagat
      @Danjovisagat  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most commonly it will be located underneath the adaptor as that is the part of the wire which gets the most wear and tear over time.

      Should be the same issue as the official xbox 360 wired controller, the wire has split. Not your fault, the wires are very thin. They look cool.
