    Good video Todd. As my wheels are not coated I use Gyeon Wet Look, which just sprays on and rinse off. Then iIdry them with my BigBoi Midi. Cheers from Down Under

    TIp: rinse your wheel brush with the pressure washer to remove dirt before you put it back in the bucket. Inside is the most dirt. Your wheels were arlready pretty neat when you started, so probably not a big issue here ;)

    After using Iron Removers for years on wheels, I've now completely stopped (except using them twice a year; once at the beginning of spring, and once before winter). The active ingredient which is called Thioglycolic Acid, is far from pH neutral. In the bottle, it is pH neutral, but as soon as it reacts with iron in brake dust, it turns acidic. This causes TONS of corrosion on wheels, brake components, and suspension parts. I've personally seen it corrode various parts of my brakes over years of use. Using it as a wheel cleaner regularly will ruin the finish of various surfaces.
    Using a dedicated wheel cleaner such as P&S Brakebuster is the best option. I've been using it for a year now, and its hands down the best wheel cleaner I've ever used (works better on tires then products like Adams tire and rubber cleaner, and its cheap price makes it an outstanding option. I'm not affiliated with them in any way but just giving my thoughts from personal experience over the years.

      We've been using this type of wheel cleaners both in the busy shop and personal cars for almost 10 years now, and have never seen any sign of corrosion / otherwise in the least bit.

    I dunno, but I am happy with Meguiar's Wheel Brightener for the wheels and Optimum Power Clean (or Superclean) for the tires. The cleaners can be diluted to handle most of the car surfaces and under the hood. The Wheel Brightener also works well for the removal of light water spots. WB isn't that acidic for an "acidic" cleaner. It even smells pleasant.
    I conclude with a spray and wipe of Optimum Spray Wax to keeps things pretty.

Before, I used to use all sorts of products to clean the car, APC, iron remover etc. For the wheels (which will be coated too when I get it back next week), do I need to be careful now with what products (if any?) i use to prolong the life of the coating as much as possible? I'm unsure how I know what will be safe to use now. I use Bilt Hamber products which are quite strong so don't know if I shouldn't use those now or not and what I should try instead.

    Do you shut off the water and pressure washer between wheels or leave it all on?

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the pressure washer! For the one I'm using, it has auto on/off so I don't need to worry about it.
