I've never liked the diet versions of most major sodas. Dr Pepper, mtn dew, coke, Pepsi, whatever. Just a watered down type taste to me with a gross aftertaste. These soda companies are onto something with these "zero" options though, every single one I've tried thoroughly impressed me. Most of them taste almost identical to the full sugar versions, with no gross aftertaste. I really think in the future we will see the soda market dominated by these "zero" versions. My personal favorite right now is Pepsi zero, which from what I understand is a rebranded Pepsi max basically.
In Michigan, I finally found a two liter bottle of Dr Pepper zero and bought a couple. I compared the ingredients just as you have and aftertaste effects aside, I oddly do think this tastes a bit more like regular Dr Pepper. More testing will need to be done as stocks are low, but goodness if the president of my company swears by it, then maybe he's on to something.
I like the taste of diet Dr. Pepper better than zero. I also drink diet cherry Pepsi and after trying zero cherry Pepsi ,I can't tell the difference between the zero Dr Pepper and zero cherry Pepsi .👎 I don't like the switch over. I may just start drinking regular sugar filled sodas
I'm here to see if it's not just me. Zero is just better. It tastes closer to regular Dr pepper and you really notice the difference if you go back to diet.

I recently started dieting and I used to drink lots of Coke and Dr Pepper. I decided I needed to make some changes and went without any soda for about 45 days. One day I wanted a soda so bad, I decided to have a Diet Coke from McDonald’s (best fountain drinks from there imo). I took the first sip and I LOVED it! Probably because it had been so long without having anything. The subsequent sips were good but not like the first but I still decided that it was a taste I could live with. The next day, I craved another right before a short road trip. It was a few miles down the road before I took a sip but SAME THING. I LOVED IT! I took a few more sips and again LOVED IT! I thought to myself, NOW I understand how folks can get used to “diet” drinks. WELL…I kinda got suspicious that this “diet” Coke was TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE so I had my wife taste it. She says “THAT’S NOT DIET…that’s regular Dr Pepper!” 😆😆😆 I should have known! Long story short, I tried Diet Dr Pepper and I’ve grown to love it. This is a recent thing as I bought a pack of 36 from Costco a couple weeks ago and it’s almost gone. NOW…thanks to you, I gotta have some DR PEPPER ZERO. 😆
Yeah I think diet and zero Dr Pepper are good. I’ve got my self use to diet drinks too, it’s easy to do when you look at all the calories that are in regular sodas
The thing I hate that Dr Pepper has done is that I’m a long time fan of Diet Dr Pepper Cherry. Covid hit and they stopped making it. Which sucks! They tried lying to us and saying that Dr Pepper Cherry Zero Sugar is the same as Diet Dr Pepper Cherry is bullshit. They are nothing alike. You can not taste the cherry at all. It tastes like cough medicine. I don’t understand why they still make diet Dr Pepper but won’t make the diet cherry version. There is a HUGE demand for it. Even on their site. But yet they won’t make it. The ingredients for the “new” Zero Sugar Cherry one is completely different than the original Diet cherry one. It does not make sense to me. Why changed something that was perfect?

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. The Dr pepper zero leaves has a what I can only describe as a powdery taste. Doesn't have a punch in taste. Diet Dr pepper is still my favorite diet drink. But I think it does have more caffeine, because it kind of gives me the shakes

I prefer the DP Zero sugar. I have always loved DP but wanted to slack off sugar so I switched to Diet DP but when the DP Zero sugar came out, I tried it and immediately could taste the difference and I switched that day. IMO, it is better.

For diet sods to be dangerous depending on your body weight you would have to drink 30 to 40 cans of diet soda a day for it to start being dangerous and inky one soda can increase your chances for cancer, strokes, heart attack, heart disease, obesity, weight gain, depression, cravings, diabetes
I always would gain weight over Summers and lose it after - finally calculated it was the increase in sugary beverages consumed in the hotter Summer season. Both Diet and Zero have the same aspartame but one looks like slightly less salt and no doubt a slightly different "flavors" mixture. Seen many people use aspartame for decades with no alzheimers. Drinking sugary beverages because you are young and can afford the sugars in your bloodstream is a risky game. Most people by 50 or 60 will suffer a wide range of side issues from sugars. Monitor your sugars closely and you should see. At 200 sugar levels I sytart to feel stiff and sore and get sick - kick the sugars and once they stay in the low 100's everything is great. So sure I got away with it as a younger me but it's a bad habit and who knows what lasting effects might be caused by gobbling the sugars all your life?
Dr pepper zero help me lose some weight and I stopped surgary soft drinks last year. Coming from someone who drank regular coke and Pepsi products on a regular basis throughout most of my life. And I also loath diet drinks. I'll drink water over a diet drink lol. That dr. Pepper zero is a game changer
Dr. Pepper zero sugar tastes almost exactly like normal dr. Pepper. Just about the only perceptible difference is the liquid is slightly less thick then regular doctor Pepper... which isn't exactly a bad thing it's almost barely noticeable. This is definitely the diet drink closest to the original I've ever tasted

In a blinde taste test I honestly couldn't tell the difference between original Dr. Pepper and Dr. PepperPepper Zero.

Dr. Pepper Zero doesn't have the diet bitter back hit, but still doesn't taste like sugar. It is more syrupy though.

Diet Dr. Pepper was my favorite, but the Zero is now my favorite. Diet now seems to have almost no flavor over the Zero.
Eventually in the future we won’t have to worry about the taste of diet soda/sugar free.
