Yup I said the same of the hummev it was a genius move by gm imo. 👍🏻😎
Each hummev or ct sold can keep up to 800-1,200+gallons of gas or diesel annually from being burned. At 7# a gallon just in fuel weight.
Each tesla semi sold when they get going can replace 8,000+gallons of diesel fuel per unit! 😁
What about the chemical's in the batteries? @@4literv6
The biggest shock for this bro will probably be, when he sits back in his legacy truck and realizes how outdated it looks and feels, like going back in time.
absolutely. and he will feel it. A lot of truck guys buy them used. So for them they always do the math comparing. If you calculate new to new I think the value proposition of the CT will be unbeatable.
💯 to both comments above ^
Even side by side it makes the old look very old
It was immediately apparent to him at the beginning of the video. “It’s almost too futuristic“.
Point is, there’s a difference between realizing things are changing and not wanting things to change. This guy is in the latter category. Still love him though.
And it makes noise like an old timey choochoo train... chuggachuggachuggachugga...choo!choooooo!
Once you step into the future, there is no way going back. He'll find out.
This video is GOLD. This guy’s accent and his point of view are priceless. Really great to see the CT through his eyes!
Imagine explaining to him that towing and losing 2 hours charging would save him $150 in fuel.
That is a great argument! How much $ are you making/saving per hour by charging CT vs fueling F250 or other option?
Time is money, $150 in fuel doesn't matter then you're making 3-5k a day.
He had a point regardless of the money savings. You never get time back, but you can always regen the money.
Well, an hourly wage of 75 bucks aint too bad, especially for just resting up for a bit :)
But how much towing is he doing with his towing. Ho many are long trips . We need more info on his towing. A little extra time one or twice a month . And being in Texas can be Get Tesla 30 a month unlimited nite time charging. Where diesel would cost from 90 to gas for diesel 104 for a fill at Texas fuel cost. A few extra minutes in a trip is not not bad. So filling up once a week is 400 a month vs 30 and a little more for long trips when super charging may still be less than one fuel fill up. It could be a 300 dollar plus a month savings and we have added up maintenance cost savings. I haven't even thought about the total cost of ownership. And with the extended battery it may be closer to range he wants.
Thank you Travis for being willing to take some of your time to make this video!
To me, he sums up so many skeptical people who drive EVs for the first time. They start out so against them, then the more they drive and learn, they SLOWLY begin to change their perception. Fun to see.
Most people who've never owned or driven an EV use the same talking points they hear on the news, so it's fun to watch them get enlightened.
Exactly I was all against Tesla then I drove one over the weekend in the mtns. I’m sold! Looking to get one soon!
@@DoughBoiVegan23 Ha! Enjoy!
Refreshing to hear the honest opinion of someone who would actually use the cyber truck for what it was intended to be. Not easily impressed by design but appreciating the utility as a replacement for his F150. He's not there yet but you can see he could possibly be there with a few changes and more driving experience. This is one of the best reaction videos that I have ever seen.

@@qwazy0158 He was definitely trying to be honest😊
@ove1knobody495 completely, just saying he's got a F250, not F150 is all. He's comparing it to a better truck than F150.
@@qwazy0158Does it matter? He pretty much said only way he’d be a customer is if you could haul for a longer range, and charge it in 15 min rather than an hour.

Travis had a LOT coming at him on that 1st drive and he adapted and handled it very well. Watching him discover the "new world" was very interesting. Good job guys!
Been in farming all my life, 10% of truck owners use their truck for truck stuff lol 60%-70% is way overstated lol
True! - i picked up on that quote, but it sounds like Travis does so many miles the owners he mixes with actually do use them for truck stuff. That could account for his overstating the numbers
Now it's 500 miles? remember when "range anxiety" demanded 300 miles for EVs to be worth considering? If EVs start covering 700, the new "range anxiety" will demand a 1000 mile range. People just don't like admitting it's time to change.
Range anxiety is for the uninformed / uneducated.
adding more range just means more charging time. plus the actual range is not usually close to the estimates.
Once you have actually tried an EV you go from range anxiety to charge time anxiety.
This is the main challenge that EVs still need to solve. Today, if you drive an EV and an ICE car coast to cost in the US or north to south in Europe the Ice car arrives hours before the EV simply due to charge time.
@@torben777 "charge time anxiety"? ANXIETY????

Yep, he's in denial lol
escape velocity from the wife.. priceless.
the mirror is compliance. why is nobody explaining that. the reason its small is because tesla wants to get rid of them altogether but currently are unable to
And the ICE pick up trucks are beautiful? Very boxy and all copy paste of each other. Pickup trucks aren’t meant to be beautiful but are functional. Pickup trucks, whether IcE pickup trucks or the CT, are never going to look like a Ferrari or Porsche from a design perspective. Beauty is ultimately a personal taste. I am not a fan of either but would prefer the CT. At least it is boldly different from all these similar looking ICE pick up trucks.
My previous partner thought most cars, especially trucks, are ugly AF. But she loves the cybertruck when first seeing it. She said she would feel like a badass Lara Croft fucking tomb raider driving that thing In general, she thought Tesla's were one of the few non ugly cars.

We’ve had years of conditioning and so we see them as beautiful. What we perceive as beauty is actually familiarity. We humans don’t like new or different. But that changes overtime. Did you ever fancy a girl or boy in school just because others fancied them too?
My right ear loved the audio. Lol
Funny how the importance of emission's are never the main issue in these conversations. Thats why we are where we are in the world. Put your exhaust behind you and forget it exists (and what you are doing).
People will find every possible negative for an EV. They try so hard. Ive had the same convo where the person I was talking with rattled on about hydrogen/EV recycling whilst not having a thorough understanding of what they were talking about.
The biggest hidden pleasure for me driving my Model 3 is knowing I'm not kicking out fumes and how much I haven't since ownership. Would you park your running car in a garage overnight with your family sitting inside...? I could!
Great content though.
Great point. Emissions conversation needs to be brought back to front and center. It's why EVs are the future. It's our generation responsibility to leave the air cleaner for the next generation.
Agree. Also, big trucks and SUVs wouldn't be so popular in the US if they were not being heavily subsidized for decades by being exempted from the much stricter emission standards that apply to sedans. It was intended for commercial use to do real work, but most people buy them for personal use and don't do any truck stuff with them. Never mind the cheap gas and diesel to fuel the addiction!
Do you have any idea how the electricity is produced to power your EV?
@@who6339 yep many ways. wind, hydro not always coal based especially today.
Indeed
Hey Farzad. I enjoy your channel. Thanks for what you do, Calvin.
Speaking as an environmental scientist, you might also want to mention the state of the planet when talking with people who still use and promote gasoline burning vehicles. The instant that your friend turns on his gasoline burning truck he is generating CO2 and approximately 20 other green house gases (that are also poisonous to our health). The CO2 he is actively generating will last not for hours, not for days, not for weeks, not for months, and not just for years. The CO2 he generates will last for decades into the next century, continually pushing heat (infrared radiation) back down to the planet's surface, 24 hours a day.
NOTE: I started eliminating my green house gas emissions a decade ago when I learned of the climate catastrophe. I switched to electric transportation and switched to electric yard equipment. I first had an electric motorcycle for two years, then I had a Chevy Volt for three years, then a Chevy Bolt for three years, then a Tesla Model Y for the last two years. I will be switching to a Cybertruck within the next 6 months to a year. I will be adding a Cyberlandr to the Cybertruck which will become my new tiny house on wheels. I plan on moving off grid and living near the north shores of Lake Superior.
NOTE2: Seven years ago I installed a metal roof with two solar panel arrays onto the roof of my house. Since then I have generated and fed 44 million watt hours of clean renewable electricity into my province's electric grid. I have reduced my carbon foot print 250% and I am no longer harming you or your family.
NOTE3: Over the last two years, climate scientists have become even more alarmed as the increase in global temperatures and the collapse of a survivable environment is accelerating and is now seemingly spiralling out of control. This has led to farm land being destroyed and disappearing way faster than expected.
Thanks for listening, Calvin.
Conservatives could care less about that stuff. They love the smell of oil in the morning
@@flaymil5373many of us don't care about our carbon footprint but we do love efficiency. I already got my foundation series invite, just waiting for it to be built.
You'll never ever convince most people using that argument. I always start with the foreign oil aspect, as that's a huge national security aspect. Causing wars where we literally kill ourselves fighting. Plus, generating your own power with solar to be less dependant on the government etc.
@@Octamed Followed up shortly with self-reliance and efficiency at the individual level. You can't make yourself energy independent with a diesel generator unless you want to become a farmer and get into chemistry most folks wouldn't be interested in. It's painful to see the evidence of years of targeted misinformation. But it's important to let people express their opinions, and let the product speak for itself.
Yes, on batteries on mines, 100%... and then, once the market is all EVs full, you start getting close to a closed loop system. You need to build up more power solar with battery banks for the grind. But that information is lost. Same with cobalt being removed from the battery market ect.

So if everyone in the USA is commanded to drive an EV. what percentage of them do you think will be able to charge from home?
@@who6339 I am 100% opposed to people being forced to buy or use something. So if everyone in the USA is commanded to drive an EV, the least I would worry about is charging from home. I would worry more about the violent overthrow of the government. But if the transition to EVs happens organically and voluntarily, all owned dwellings will acquire EV charging equipment, and all rented dwellings will feel market forces to acquire EV charging equipment for their tenants. Those apartment owners who do not will have a problem finding tenants to rent their apartments.

Grid goes down: classic misunderstanding of how things work. Gas pumps require electricity to work. Plus, there is no way I am going to a gas station in a crisis situation- my life is worth more than that. I would much rather have my car charge off of sunlight in the safety of my own garage. It’s convenient, safe, and costs way less.

When you call something “ugly” while not seeing the irony of driving a normal pickup truck and also calling something “too far into the future” is grasping at straws.

Im not surprised this chap prefers his combustion vehicle, that’s completely his choice. But you could see the evolution of impression and it’s crazy that’s his first drive in any EV! Talk about starting at the top of the mountain! Some folk embrace progress and some crave the familiar. The running cost comparison between the two won’t even be in the same zip code. Farzad is doing a magnificent job of representing the future.
