Stainless steel is a pretty poor choice for body panels. Scratches, swirls, and pitting will always prove problematic through the trucks life. It's interesting that a materials engineer in the development process did not strongly oppose the material selection because of its shortcomings.
Aren't those the same problems with paint? Along with door dings, flaking paint, etc...

disappointed they removed the previously advertised digital rear view mirror screen and replaced it with a pointless mirror that doesnt work.
not thrilled they completely removed the extendable tailgate ramp; yes you can buy their $400 each ladders, but...having it built in sounded so convenient, and it was a full ramp, not a pair of separately sold ladders that you have to haul and uninstall reinstall.
for full steel panels i would expect at least ONE option for a preinstalled wrap should be included, charging an additional $6k is absurd.
i was overall hyped with everything shown in 2019
but the significant increase in price and reduction in range from "500 miles" to "320 but spend an additional $16k to get 480 miles; oh and its not available at all" feels awful

That orange pad you used @ about the 10 minute mark of your video, gentle as it is supposed to be, is none the less a "scuff pad". Stainless is a peculiar alloy. While extremely rugged in many categories, (like bending) it is also a relatively soft metal which makes it susceptible to swirls from scuff pads. The good part of that equation is the ability to polish out the swirls. I'm still watching your video, I paused to make this comment.

How is the ride quality compared to the model x?
Like I said from your previous CT video. Thank you for being a guinea pig for the CT bugs. Those sharp edges are the first thing I noticed when I was at Tesla dealership. Saw a few that were being unloaded on the truck and told the guy “ settlement about to happen” with the sharp edges. I am sure 2nd gen CT wil have the missing features. Keep up the good work, Thanks EC.

Is the vehicle taller than the model x? I park in an apartment garage in SF that’s somewhat tight. The Model X fits fine but just seeing if a Cybertruck would fit too. Also which of your 3 cars do you like most?
Yes it’s taller. My x fits fine too! Cybertruck for sure. Just wish it had a mid gate

So detailers made some videos on cleaning this car. Concensus is just dish soap and water or windex with microfiber. Really easy to clean. Similar to the old Deloreans. You truck looks great is that color stock or did you alter it?

Took delivery of mine a few weeks ago. It has a phantom drain on the battery for some reason. The interior quality is not the greatest. It is also is a little embarrassing. I am driving my 2023 MX LR way more than the CT which is my fave.
I thought it was just me. At least 2 percent a night. Everything is off too

3:34 FYI, the Rivian tires are not 20 inches diameter. That’s the rim size.
The 20 inch rim comes with a 34 inch tire and the 21 and 22 inch rim come with a 33 inch tire
So 34 inch tire is not a huge difference. It is a difference but not huge compared to a 35 inch.
TLDR: does not regret it. Loves it more and more everyday.

Crazy , a new chevy ev truck is getting 400 + miles of range 🤔.
I ordered a CT four years and 3 months ago ,im having second thoughts, 1/2 a battery pack,no autosteer,no FDS,no heat or cooling in the bed,no diff lock, etc,...leaves me fealing ripped of for 80.000 dollars, .
If i didn't need a work truck i would buy a model y with a trailer hitch.

I have a beast on order, never had an EV before, all the charging and EV talk is getting me nervouse being this will be my everyday vehicle. Is it an inconvenience wondering range and charging locations?

Just make sure you get the fast charger for your home. I think the beast may come with it. 95% of the time most people don’t drive 300 miles a day. You will wake up with a full tank and never even think about it.
The main problem I see is new Ev owners forgetting to plug their car when they get home. Kinda like young girls forget to pump gas when they first start driving. If you forget, will be a problem in any car.
Then for those 5 roadtrips per year. You start with 100% charge but on the way don’t charge to 100% as instinct tells you, just charge whatever time and place tesla says and go. It will save so much time.
How is the insurance payments? Did you get tesla insurance?

Remember, when you buy a Cybertruck, be prepared to go through the 5 stages of GRIEF. Let your family know that you will be buying the cybertruck and that you will need their emotional support to help you get to the final stage. LET ME EXPLAIN:
1. Denial: "There's no way my new Cybertruck could have these problems. Tesla makes cutting-edge vehicles. It must be a misunderstanding or a very rare case."
2. Anger: "How could this happen with a Tesla? I spent a lot of money on this truck! Who's responsible for these issues? There must be someone at Tesla who didn't do their job right."
3. Bargaining: "Maybe if I call customer service and explain the situation, they can fix everything."
4. Depression: "I'm overwhelmed by all these problems with my new truck. It's supposed to be a joyous occasion, but now I feel it was all a mistake. I don't even feel like driving it." And this is where you will need your friends, your family to console you. As you struggle with these feelings, your friends and family need to come to console you, even though they are aware that purchasing the truck may have been a significant error.
and number 5:
Acceptance: "Okay, it seems these issues are real and not going away immediately. I am a fanboy, I am stuck with it, I need to accept that I have a truck, with lot of faults and decide on the best course of action, whether it's seeking repairs or learning to live with the imperfections."
Some of the issues here are also the same for regular truck owners. In general, I think the pros outweigh the cons. Wonder if you can step on the rear tire to get in to the bed? I do the same for my truck sometimes.

In conclusion - get the Rivian
I do not think the range extender that fits in the bed will ever come to market. I am very disappointed with Tesla because they kept pushing the narrative over the four years about 500 mile range and did not deliver anywhere close to that figure. The Silverado EV RST launch edition is priced less than the CT foundation edition and has 130 miles more range. The hype the Tesla created turned into a disappointment. I have already ditched my CT reservation and I am keeping my Silverado EV WT reservation because of the better value as a pickup it offers.
The Silverado isn’t profitable for GM and will be volume constrained because of it. Fortunately? there’s a lot you can do when you aren’t worried about profitability.
I tried the Work Truck version of the Silverado EV and it’s fine if you need a truck, but I’m spoiled by my Tesla also being entertaining and the CyberTruck wins in that category.
@@phxees I don't think the CT is anywhere close to being profitable in 2024. And "volume constrained" sounds like a wet dream from Tesla. You "tried the Work Truck version of the Silverado EV and it’s fine if you need a truck" - that is the reason why I am keeping my Silverado EV WT reservation - to have a functional truck for my job as I move equipment to and from job sites. My wife owns the Lyriq so she can be spoiled by being entertained - she thinks the Lyriq wins in that category.
@@kelviskelvis7140 My point isn't that the CyberTruck is profitable today, but it will be profitable. We know from tear downs that while Tesla has done a lot, they are using a lot of common Tesla parts, and the pack is only 20% larger than the Model S/X and they are making their own cells which are government subsidized. That coupled with very limited paint, giga castings, and a many other reductions in complexity, the CT will be profitable.
On the other hand, GM keeps delaying their profitability date.

I think previous S/X owners are just spoiled. So I don't take their opinions on the CT that serious. We already know the CT is by far more popular than those even without a few comfort options. By far the majority of the consumers are going to either wait for Y refresh or buy a highland variant. Already know people waiting for a Ludacris. Not that the X or S doesn't have a place, but they're getting crunched by other products.

Scratching was meant to add to it's patina, imo. The "durability" was always just the ability to withstand denting, etc.
This thing looks like a colossal waste of money. So basically every time you drive it you have to wipe it down and clean it. Nobody has time for that nonsense. On top of that, it’s completely useless as a work truck. I know most folks buy trucks they don’t even use them for work it’s hilarious. But forget all that noise. And I think they are rusting. That is low quality stainless steel. If you can stick a magnet on it, it’s not quality steel, and you can stick a magnet on them. Drive on the coast, drive in snow and all the salt? Rust bucket. And the scratches and fingerprints lolololol. I like Teslas but this thing looks like a joke and only for rich people who can throw their money away like a joke. If you want a real truck get a Fseries or a Tundra, something like that. At least with them you can actually use them as a truck, put a truck box in, tow things and not only have 90 miles of range. This thing is silly and it’s going to fail. EV car sales have dropped, nobody wants them because they are totally impractical and too expensive for most people.

It’s for people that love the attention and want to be able to do some truck things like go to Lowe’s here and there and use it as an every day driver. If you plan on towing consistently there are better options out there for less money.
I’ve seen several comments where people are saying they are deciding between the CT or refreshed Model Y..that should tell you what people are using the CT for. Cause no way if I’m buying a truck for legit truck things I’m contemplating on getting a MY instead haha Again, I think the CT looks bad ass and I love EV’s but 100K+ for foundation series when you can go get a fully loaded gas powered truck for way less and it be more practical especially in terms of towing and safer for young kids..yea. Price needs to come down and hopefully in a few years it does
