Please use the cybertruck in an actual job site. Like a ranch, farm, mining, logging, or maybe an oilfield. Or try to imitate the way people use their Isuzu and Toyota pickup trucks in developing countries. It would be interesting to see how the Cybertruck handle such conditions.
Whats the point? No farmer is going to buy a cybertruck. I live in western Nebraska. People here who actually work in the dirt don't even drive fancy trucks to work. Mostly beat up mid 2000s beat up pieces of shit. All these fancy trucks are for peacocks.
I often get a load of dirt or load of gravel or wood chips in the back of my ram 1500. A bobcat pulls up to the side of my truck and dumps a load in the back. Shovel it out and sweep the box. Has a box liner. I wonder how the cyber truck would handle dirt/sand/gravel in all the crevices of the box. With the angle of the side of the box can you even dump a load in the back. Truck stuff!
Good test - that was interesting. Thx. For the Cybertruck you can set up to use the right scroll wheel for trailer braking - you are not limited to the screen.
I am not sure how anyone is not bringing up that a half ton with a naturally aspirated engine (no turbos) pretty much did the exact same time as a 3/4 ton diesel truck with a turbo and big torque with the exact same load. I would have to say that 5.0 is pretty damn impressive
Yeah, they were both able to maintain the speed limit which is pretty impressive. Back in the 80s-90s that f-150 would have been crawling up the hill at 35.
Yeah the 5.0 is still pretty good, too bad it's mated to that absolute grenade of a 10 speed transmission. Maybe ford can finally have it worked out 6 years later by 2025.
The difference is, that diesel can and will do that test over and over and over and over with zero issues while the NA five-oh would likely brake something or overheat something at some point. But yes, the 5.0 and Toyota's 5.7 are still great engines and should be sought after if you want a cheaper and more reliable truck.
@@Soh90 I did a similar test towing 28 foot enclosed car hauler trailers, my 2017 GMC Elevation 1500 with 5.3 and 3:42 gears got the same fuel mileage as a 2022 Ford 2500 Platinum Diesel over a 2.5 hour trip, and my trailer was 1000 lb heavier. They both got 24 liter to 100 km on flat terrain in northern Alberta at -30 C. The new diesels are too choked back with all the emissions stuff on them. This is why the big gas engines are making a come back. The big torque is great, but there is no fuel savings to speak of anymore vs the price of buying a diesel. It's sad. I also own a 2012 3500 GMC dually duramax I haul my camper with & tow boat or UTV's with.
Have a 2013 5.0 f 150 with 370 thousand miles on it and still runs great . Zero issues. Change plugs and coil packs every 100 thousand miles. Transmission flushed and filter changed every 60 thousand miles
100% agree, I really like seeing Kase on these truck videos, he always knows his stuff, lots of good data guys. Andre is always great with detailed facts as well. Great team !
He talks too much and I hate his glasses! I kid. I kid... He's a great asset to the channel. If you watched the BRAT video, he's also willing to do anything you ask of him, regardless of his personal safety.
@@galeng73 saw that Brat video this morning, it was hilarious. Really liking that wild crazy Classics Channel antics of late. That Brat video was the best one yet.
@@jdfleetguy28 I was duly impressed. I don't encourage that sort of behavior, but I drink enough to not actually stop people from that kind of behavior. Assuming that makes sense...
The lift and bigger diameter/heavier wheels/tires are the most impactful for towing. They really put more stress on the suspension, drive-train, brakes and chassis. There is also an impact on handling, turns, wind and whatnot. I see roofers around here with huge lifts, huge tires pulling a trailer with 15,000+ of old shingles going to the dump behind them and they really look like death traps going down the road.
I think the wheel covers were rubber where they touched the tire. Less about a hard surface and probably more about friction. Don't use more than one condom at a time.
Andre, IDK how you do it, but every video you guys produce I’m interested in and cannot unglue my eyes from the screen. Keep up the great work everyone over at TFL!
you know the outcome and just wants the Tesla to lose against Diesel ans Gasoline. I am not a Fan of that zruck eighter but i just see it as another rich mans toy like an Raptor or TRX.
It looks like at the 25:50 mark you needed to toggle the switch to allow you to use the right scroll wheel for the trailer brake. You had it turned off so nothing was happening when you were spinning that wheel.
@@cobraskenpo2299 Watching the video that got released today, that switch on the display I was talking about was toggled on so the scroll wheel would work was toggled on and the wheel worked. What I pointed out was correct.
@pryme2013 I saw your response and was curious. It turns out we're both right, depending on how you look at. 3db is twice the sound pressure, but 10db is twice the subjective perception of volume. My guess is that sound pressure is what's fatiguing, so you're probably more right in this context.
@@pryme2013 Actually 6db is twice as loud, You can prove this to yourself by using an oscilloscope with a transducer hooked to it. get a peak in your screen and remove 6db. It will halve the signal. I spent 30 years in the ultrasonic industry. Also just fyi db's are actually what it takes to make a sound silent, so in the Cybertruck's case it would take 61 db's to make it silent.
It says on the Towing and Hauling screen, "Right Scroll Wheel Trailer Brake", "To brake, tilt the scroll wheel to the right.". All you have to do is turn that feature on, on that screen, and then you can tilt the scroll wheel on the steering wheel to the right to engage the trailer brakes. It's probably the most convenient manual trailer brake application method of any truck out there.
@@Idiomatickso once again, not knowing how to do something, creates worse results. I wish these “reviewers” would learn what they need to do instead of just fumble through everything and then wonder why they have a worse experience.
@@shou635 Its hard to get the throughput without errors so i get it. They should post a correction though since it is significant. Reposting relatively quickly doesn't cost you much for the algorithm.
It did worse because it’s just not made for this type of application. The fact that it can’t even tow 100 miles makes it a bad option.l for towing. It’s just not ready. In fact EV in general is not ready for long road trips. Be fully loaded with family and cargo…good luck
Theres PLENTY of things to hate about the truck but i have to admit short term acceleration is good but it comes with the fallinh flat in the area of ENDURANCE
@@tazeat pretty sure it affects maximum acceleration instead of throttle mapping, if you put a plaid in chill mode it’ll do 0-60 in around 7-8 seconds (I forget which number exactly) but it’ll do that number rain or shine even up a 40° incline, I think that this cybertruck was still deploying around 450-500hp but it was limited by its max acceleration in chill mode, maybe it was overridden because it was in tow mode but you’d just have to find out by running the test again in normal
Also they were complaining about the trailer brake, even tho they showed the option in the menu to set it to the right scroll wheel. So in an amergency you can just press the knob on the steering wheel instead of the touch screen! 🤦🏻♂️ The only real Problem i see with the Cybertruck is thermal longevity on i.e. downhills, as well as obviusly more charging stops than in an ICE truck and the missing pull through stations for charging. So as long as you are not towing all the time but sometimes, this is a bad ass truck!
Looked like the cyber truck towed pretty well in this video. Although, I’d go with the Ford with the coyote out of those choices. Too bad they’re all overpriced.
I noticed that as well. My Model S in Chill Mode feels like any other car. Sport Mode turns it into a Mustang GT, and Ludacris Mode will do 0-60 in 2.5 seconds all day, rain or shine. Very noticeable difference depending on what Mode you select
Don't tell the other guys, but you 2 are the best of the TFL bunch ;-) I think munro showed that the battery pack isn't even full, so it really should have more batteries.
You better have a built in battery charger for that Tesla cyber truck you’re going to need it to much tech in that cyber truck no thanks I will take a v8 or diesel all day over the all electric truck
I have a modern diesel and the maintenance is brutal! You shouldn't buy an HD diesel unless you really need it not only for upfront cost, but maintenance too. 😭
Yeah I just hooked up a 6x12 utility trailer to my Model Y today for a landfill run and got the bloody knuckles to prove it. The hitch location is absolutely horrendous. Forgivable on the Model Y which only sees a trailer maybe twice or three times a year. But it's an absolute miss on the Cybertruck which is supposed to be a freaking truck and touts itself as the "toughest truck" or whatever crap Elon said.
@@wolfgangpreier9160 Never said anything was his fault. I (loosely) quoted what he SAID 🤦🏾♂️ Reading is fundamental. The Tesla Cybertruck is not the only vehicle to differ from poor towing hardware placement, obviously.
@@Soh90 "I (loosely) quoted what he SAID Reading is fundamental. " Yes, that was what you said, maybe reading what you wrote should be also fundamental? I don't care where the tow hitch is placed. I am not allowed to use it anyway in Europe without a truckers license if more than (soon) 4.2 tons max. weight of both. Maybe i go to drivers school again after 45 years of driving? I will decide when the CT or something equivalent is offered here.
I noticed when Andre inserted the hitch into the receiver, he pushed it all the way in to the second hole ( you see when he flips it around). If he'd have pulled it out for the first hole, it would have fit just fine.
Guys, for the cybertruck the adaptive regen brake was off and it was also in chill mode for the acceleration. I want to see this again with the settings better for the test.
Go watch Out of Spec. Cybertruck comes in dead last in their towing test against all the EV trucks and that seems to be the consensus. Lightning and Rivian seem like the best value. Silverado EV is the best performer for towing.
Adaptive regen isn’t going to make a difference. The real reason that exists is so it’s less sketchy in slippery conditions i.e. braking too much when you don’t need it. It’s not going to above the normal max regen.
@@juggurnott the Silverado EV is just as new. Even if OTAs push the limits a bit further, the Tesla just won't be able to keep up with the Chevy when it comes to towing. There's too much headroom with the GM hardware.
Even though a half ton might be rated to tow well over the roughly 9k; if one is going to be towing that much on a regular basis you need to step up to a 3/4 or one ton.
Not necessarily. That may have been true 20 years ago but 1/2 ton trucks are engineered to handle that kind of weight. Their powertrains, suspensions, and brakes are quite robust.
Did you use the adaptive cruise control on the F150? If you did I missed it. If you use the adaptive cruise control on the F-150, the transmission will downshift or upshift to keep the truck at the speed set on the cruise control.

Curios about Cybertruck tire wear. Tesla says they will last 20K to 40K miles. You have it for at least a year and you'll be putting a lot of miles on it. This would be a good opportunity for a video topic if you measured tread depth new and after 20K miles. Also curios about cost of tire replacement.
For such a heavy vehicle the tires will likely wear fast (compared to a standard truck). 20-40k is quite low. I've got 20k on my ko2's and they have probably 75-80% tread remaining.
@@RobertJLessard the weight, the constant braking effect of the vehicle and often times the compound of the tires for lower rolling resistance/hyper efficiency are aspects that are unique to tire wear for EVs. I'm sure they'll get it right eventually but you'll goes through tires like crazy.
I just don’t understand the fascination with the coyote. Drive a coyote one day and the ecoboost the next and you’ll never want to go back to that slug of a motor.

That’s really sweet. But I think it’s because EV’s pose an existential threat to ICE vehicles. I work for a major car company and with the help of the EPA and other government agencies there’s a huge push to completely eliminate gas and diesel engines in the next decade.
Kumbaya until extinction. 😃 I love how the EV people pretending that there is no push and no mandate to buy EV. They feign ignorance, why can’t we just all love EV, people are not mandated to buy EV. Sure not for about another 6 years. Then after that good luck finding an ICE.

@@tommybouletregen braking doesnt really charge the battery , it only acts as a "engine brake." Regen braking would only make sense is in hybrid vehicles where the gas engine could be used as a charger for the batteries.
@@kylebeach2316 regen brake, by definition means regenerative braking. You guys kinda botched the cybertruck brake controller... That first toggle switch in the menu assigns the brake controller to the right-side physical scrollwheel on the steering wheel. So yeah, it does have a physical control but Andre goofed on that one
@@SyntheticSpy It was in tow mode. It should have been properly configured by itself. And buttons that change function depending of the mode you're in don't count as physical buttons, since you cannot really build muscle memory.

The fact they complained about not having a specific function, while a toggle allowing that function was sitting right in front of them should not happen
So, the Cybertruck used 20.1 KW for Ike Gauntlet. Using 5.3 mpg for the Ram, it used about 52.5 KW (diesel has 37.1 KWH per gallon) while the F150 (4.5 mpg) used about 56.3 KW (gasoline has 33.7 KWH per gallon). To be fair, let's throw in the recharge losses for the Tesla (same for F150 lightning and Rivian) of 7% and say that the Cybertruck actually used about 22 KWH, it is still almost 2.5 times the efficiency of gas or diesel. The Cybertruck has the 120 KWH battery, which is equivalent to 3.2 gallons of diesel or 3.6 gallons of gasoline. When looking at range for comparison (between this Ram or this F150), just put that much fuel in each and see how far you will get!!! Great review!
Efficiency really isn't the point. Can it do everything a gas or diesel does and still get you to a charger/gas station or preferably back home after say a 90-100 mile trip. They didn't even address that.
If it makes you feel better, I wouldn’t buy an ICE pickup with a 4 gallon tank and a filler neck that causes it to take an hour to refill those 4 gallons. Let me know when the EV carries a 36-gallon equivalent amount of energy and I can refill that energy in 10 minutes at any gas station.
@@Cloud30000 I never said that an EV truck makes any sense, because it doesn't. EV cars don't make any sense either unless you have real car or truck and only use the EV for local commuting. All EV's in the US actually run on mostly coal anyway. The battery technology is no where near ready for prime time and if 4 gallons of gas weighed 800 pounds, we would all be in trouble. But, electric motors are much more efficient than the best internal combustion engine, which is the point i was trying to make.
@@johntate5284 the over application of EVs as some sort of messiah is why they are so hated. I despise them from a practicality and self maintenence point of view. The cybertruck is so damned ugly I would never buy it. I don't care how great someone says it is. 🤮I thought the Pacer was ugly. That's a beauty queen compared to this.
The cyber truck is a ridiculous and ugly piece of machinery. Owners have already reported rust re Hoovies garage u tube channel. Here in BC, we have the Coquihalla, and the elevation change from Hope (small town at the base) to the summit is 1204 meters. The actual elevation change in the Ike gauntlet is 1301 meters, so pretty similar. The Coq is brutal - seen a number of burned out cars and trucks over the years.
I don't know how the Ike is actually, but they said they are only driving a couple miles each way with the towing. From hope to summit it's 60km each way. The elevation change on IKE sounds way worse
The Coq is steeper, longer, and faster. It may have more turns too, although I'm judging that from watching Ike videos. It has 8.5% grades at the steepest points. Speed limits go up to 120km/hr in the best conditions. The lower overall elevation means that we don't have the same effects of thinner air, but it's a big drive, up or down. The portion of the Ike they measure is more like a 600+ meter change in elevation. The other highway I towed up recently was 40D in Mexico. That climbs from sea level to 8700ft in ~70 miles between Mazatlan and Durango.
@@gerhardschulzythe climb on the Coquihalla Highway after Hope is up to 12.5% grade while the Ike never gets past 8%. I've done this several times in my cummins pulling over max load every time. Have all the coolers but the 68rfe got pretty hot every time pulling up. But the truck didn't miss a beat.
Seeing a whole lot of broken down teslas on the side of the road lately. And on the back of tow trucks. The cybertruck cannot work as hard as a gas or diesel. Let's pull some trailers 600 miles and see which type gets the job done quicker. Electric sucks.

I’ll take the Ram with Cummins all day, every day! Now do a towing video from the upper Mid-West to the Florida Keys pulling a 30’ fifth wheeler camper! Tesla=last place.
As an EV driver I can only confirm that. I do like my EV, comfortable, fast enough, reasonably efficient, but don’t put bikes on it or tow with it. It works as a car, not as a commercial vehicle.
I'm in Arizona and my Duramax took my family to Yellowstone over covid with a 10k lbs toy hauler with zero issues. The Teton pass is the toughest towing test in the world from my experience and handled it without any concern. Tesla doesn't make a vehicle that could do that trip. To those of you talking about the price of fuel. The price of supercharger on a road trip with a trailer would be comparable because EV are so stunningly inefficient towing. If it could even do it...
Great job on the video guys! Enjoyed the Ram and Ford part the most, hard pass on the giant electric door stop. lol Long live the Coyote and the Cummins .
You made a big number of CT missing a button for trailer braking. I'm pretty sure the right handed scroll wheel on the steering wheel does work as a trailer brake while towing. You reach it with your thumb if needed.

regular joe, still stick with the v8. for work, stick with the diesel. if you want people to know you're an elon fanboy, go for the refrigerator on wheels
What’s the gear ratio on the 5.0? I have a 2015 (5.0 w/ 3.73 gears) and it tows very well. Definitely considering upgrading to a 2023 like this one with the same 5.0 and 3.73 gears
1. Recessed hitch is funny and automatically disproves Elon's claims of "tows better then any other" 2. Your guys presentation is awesome. 3. Why cant the glove box just have its own button? Why does everything need to be controlled by the screne? I dont like using touch screnes while im driving, i feel more automakers going touch screne only, especially for silly things like a glove box, is a miss. At least add some buttons to the stearing column and/or wheel that i can use to work the screne instead of taking my hands away from the wheel to attempt to touch an icon on a screne, which can be awkward on rough roads. Even modern harleys let you fully controll the screne with touch or buttons on the handle bars.
1. It could be the aftermarket shank. Try a different manufacturer (or ask the sponsor for a mod). I thought they should have pushed a little harder on the plastic bumper. It would have compressed. 2.) Pretty good show, indexing trucks on a repeating test has value. 3.) There are blue tooth buttons with peel and stick backing that can be set to perform a discreet function. I recently broke yet another plastic glovebox latch, it snapped like raw spaghetti. This time it was a G-wagon. I'd have a dashboard full of slap buttons. And one on the floor for the brights.
Its because you can lock drivers/valets out of the glovebox (their key doesn't work) and add a pin to open glovebox for security (so its locked even if they have your key card/phone.
So it accelerates so fast…. Then you stop every hour and a half to charge for an hour…. Which truck brought the trailer there and back… I wonder…. I’ll stick with my diesel thanks
Once they go through the Foundation Series early deliveries and ramp production, the price will come back down to $80k. Plus tax rebates. Way cheaper than the F450.
@propertypreparedness6846 The look is great. The big, monstrous, ridiculous phone analogy was a joke to many but not anymore, as bigger phones are the norm.
You guys mentioned the perfect case is towing a light weight out 30 minutes to the boat launch and coming back home. That is me so an electric truck would work perfectly for me. The decision between the Rivian and the cyber truck.
I'm with the F150, V8, and 10 speed all day long. I will add currently own a 2019 silverado 1500 with the 6.2L and a 10 speed. Towing is really good, and MPG is not terrible.
So the Tesla does good until you have to charge it. Then you have to hope all the chargers work at the charging station, there isn’t a line, and you will more than likely have to disconnect the trailer to charge. Lastly you will sit there for 45 minutes minimum to get 75% charge. The other two trucks pull in with trailer attached, fill up, and then drive away in 15 minutes.
I towed with 2007 Ford Expedition my 5.4-liter V-8 in the gauntlet. I thought it was going to have issues but it worked amazingly! Didn’t have current technology but killed my brakes afterwards!
You should have put a camera on the trailer facing the truck And have it physically show how many times that the brake lights came on. Because clearly the truck is applying the brakes, even if you are not recording it... 🤦♀
A Ford Coyote V8 isn't an old school Truck engine.everything about the design of the Cybertruck just seems dumb to me I would never even think about buying one.
Blah, blah, blah. 20.8 kWh used out of a 122 kWh battery to tow a trailer that doesn't have particularly poor aerodynamics 8 miles uphill. There, saved you 40 minutes. There never was any question if the CyberTruck could do it, the real question is what towing range can you expect on a normal trip with something like a camping trailer. That's the Achilles Heel of all EV trucks.
it really does. only issue is tpical tesla quirks like the mirrors, hitch cover, stuff like that. but honestly if i wanted to get an suv to haul my family, i would get a cybertruck over a model y or a model x any day of the week. all the good that comes with those cars, except its a truck that can do truck things when you need it to. however, things get even better. the battery was recently torn into and it was discovered that the battery is actuallly only 50% capacity of the casing the batteries are in. maybe that gap is under the truck and to protect the battery, but if it isnt, then we can almost certainly expect a legit 500+ mile range cybertruck at some point. maybe once they are able to ramp up production of batteries and reduce the price, and release the 500+ range model where the cyberbeast currently is. plus the extra battery weight will likely make it feel even more stable, plus nearly double your towing range.
I don't know why Tesla is so anti button. An all or nothing button on a touch screen for emergency trailer brakes is downright dangerous. Every tow vehicle I've every owned either has a factory physical slider, or an aftermarket controller with a physical slider (OLD trucks) for trailer brake. Also, the Cybertruck is sort of like current videogames, Release it half baked and hopefully get it to "good" status a year or two later though updates and "DLC".
When I can tow my 21,000lb trailer for 500 miles, refuel my diesel in 30 minutes, grab a bite and do it all over again, I’ll consider the woke trucks…. Wwhhooo climate change…😮
Have to say, the Trail Hound is still my favorite TFL vehicle. Just looks killer and so versatile. Hopefully it'll continue to hang around for a while.
Guys, wtf. Please know how to use a vehicle you're testing. Cyber truck had a physical button for trailer brakes, the right scroll wheel, Andre didn't select the option. For the Trip to read energy predictions you have to use the navigation durrr. Also not measuring suspension on any truck from center of the wheel hub instead of the ground, that would have removed tires in all calculations. Also Chill mode acceleration test. FFS You're supposed to be experts. Do better.
I would love to see someone do an actual comparison of an electric vehicle. We've seen people showboating EVs in off-road events, but they're always trailered in to those locations in order to save enough battery for the vehicle to go through a single trail. This test was not much different. How about TFL doing an interstate head-to-head of EV trucks vs. ICE trucks, towing equal trailers over 500, 1,000 or more miles? That would be more realistic. None of these short range unrealistic tests. Unless you're getting 1,000s of pounds of groceries, these EV trucks seem to be extremely unrealistic for actual truck duties.
@grenobel, that wouldn't work because the electric trucks can only go about 100 miles while towing. TFL did a test between FL150 Lightning and GMC Sierra, each pulling a 10,000 lbs trailers. They had to call the test off, because the FL150 wouldn't make it to the next DC fast charger. Maybe the 400 mile Silverado EV could do a little better, but EV trucks are not ready for long distance hauling. BTW, Out of Spec did an ocean to ocean race of the Rivian, Cybertruck, F150 Lightning and Silverado EV. Very fun to watch.

A plastic bed lol. Elon you make some ugly ass vehicles. If you spent a little more time appealing to the actual masses you may have helped the ev movement 10 times better. Musk clearly grew up watching Tango and Cash and had dreams about that truck at the end. It just took me 50 minutes to find that movie I saw it like 3 years ago couldnt think of the name
I realize taste is subjective and obviously Tesla wanted to do something far outside the norm here but really? Who buys this moon rover based on looks alone? It’s got impressive numbers but it doesn’t do anything better than the other electric trucks do. This is purely for the Tesla faithful and even then, do they really want this truck?

Because Tesla is a software company first and car company second. Even today.
They were too busy designing the complex things they overlooked the simple ones like the pedal decoration and rubbing hub caps and maybe more to come.

3db is twice as loud
@pryme2013 I saw your response and was curious. It turns out we're both right, depending on how you look at. 3db is twice the sound pressure, but 10db is twice the subjective perception of volume. My guess is that sound pressure is what's fatiguing, so you're probably more right in this context.

All you have to do is turn that feature on, on that screen, and then you can tilt the scroll wheel on the steering wheel to the right to engage the trailer brakes.

I have no need to move heavy trailer up and down drive way :p I move light trailer long dist in short time. 😊 F150 for the win!
Great job on the video guys! Enjoyed the Ram and Ford part the most, hard pass on the giant electric door stop. lol
Long live the Coyote and the Cummins .
You made a big number of CT missing a button for trailer braking. I'm pretty sure the right handed scroll wheel on the steering wheel does work as a trailer brake while towing. You reach it with your thumb if needed.
Doh ... the moment when you realize the thing you were wishing was there was actually sitting right in front of you on the screen, but you misread it.
That's what happens when you make a useless unnecessary screen for everything.
If it ain't broke don't fix it. Nothing was ever wrong with buttons.
@@Kanglar "ain't broke don't fix it" mentality would have us still in the preindustrial age. Nope. Blackberrys had buttons too. Just sayin' it isn't that simple.
Im actually super excited for the ram electric hybrid truck with the generator because for daily driving you never use gas but when towing and going long distance you have that generator to keep you going
That's the only one I am interested in.
LOL 😂, I'll keep my HEMI.
Still burning fossil fuels, who are they kidding?
Would be interesting if in addition to the battery pack extender Tesla offered a generator to install in the bed in the same footprint.
Ramcharger
regular joe, still stick with the v8. for work, stick with the diesel. if you want people to know you're an elon fanboy, go for the refrigerator on wheels
What’s the gear ratio on the 5.0? I have a 2015 (5.0 w/ 3.73 gears) and it tows very well. Definitely considering upgrading to a 2023 like this one with the same 5.0 and 3.73 gears
This truck (unlike others) looks uglier in real life than in a video
1. Recessed hitch is funny and automatically disproves Elon's claims of "tows better then any other"
EVs and towing is unrealistic. The range drops to nothing... you would be stopping every 100 miles looking for a charger.
8 miles at 17% would put you at needing to stop every 50 miles
I'm hoping for a cross country cannonball with that Cybertruck... while towing.
Will be a short video
Minus the towing, there's a cross-country challenge between the Silverado 4wt, cybertruck, Rivian, and the lightning. It's on the Out of Spec channel.
So it accelerates so fast…. Then you stop every hour and a half to charge for an hour…. Which truck brought the trailer there and back… I wonder…. I’ll stick with my diesel thanks
Test the cybertruck against a truck of equal cost. You can buy an F450 King Ranch for the price of the Tesla.
Once they go through the Foundation Series early deliveries and ramp production, the price will come back down to $80k. Plus tax rebates. Way cheaper than the F450.
That cyber truck is the ugliest thing I’ve fever seen.
Saw a cybertruck while going to Costco yesterday. What an abomination.
yea but they were using it for real truck things like qElmo intended!
You don't like therefore it is abomination? A 5" smartphone next to your face was mocked and ridiculed. How time has changed perception.
@@nguyep4 yes, it is one of the ugliest vehicles I have ever seen in person. Not sure what your smart phone comment is supposed to mean. Cheers.
@propertypreparedness6846 The look is great. The big, monstrous, ridiculous phone analogy was a joke to many but not anymore, as bigger phones are the norm.
I think it’s really grown on me. You’re just not used to a vehicle looking like this. I think it looks pretty good actually.
Good luck towing your travel trailer to a remote location with that thing.if
You should only drive around a cybertruck towing an ICE vehicle behind it. That way 50 miles away, you can trade places and finish the trip faster.
This is a funny comment lol
Nice wiper! Test the windows! Roll Coal on that DeLorean.
You guys mentioned the perfect case is towing a light weight out 30 minutes to the boat launch and coming back home. That is me so an electric truck would work perfectly for me. The decision between the Rivian and the cyber truck.
Imagine wanting everyone to laugh at you at the boat launch.
Electric trucks are not for towing. They are pavement princesses that might tow a boat to the lake that is close by. I want to emphasize CLOSE BY!!!!
@B4Uagain That's correct, at $60k for a Jeep Rubicon. I would be scared to damage it at the offroad park or rock climbing.
My cottage is 100miles away and my boat and ATv and trailer are under 3000lbs. Perfect for me. Price is just a no go.
@@kman0074I'm glad you mentioned the price not being affordable either. I forgot to add that part. 👍
@@B49nope99% of pickups never pull anything. Probably 50% not even used for its intended purpose. And yes jeeps dont really go offroad anymore.
I'm with the F150, V8, and 10 speed all day long. I will add currently own a 2019 silverado 1500 with the 6.2L and a 10 speed. Towing is really good, and MPG is not terrible.
I like the testing but the "look at me" cybertruck buyers are never going to use it as a truck.
So do a majority of truck drivers
@@MrMikeDaoYup😂
What about the "look at me" F-150 Raptor buyers? Never see them using it as a truck.
@@dc48664 Yup
I will be like look at me in this hail storm, no damage on cybertruck while your princess wagon is totaled.
After 70 miles your Cyberstuck
😂😂😂😂👏👏👏
A Ford Coyote V8 isn't an old school Truck engine.everything about the design of the Cybertruck just seems dumb to me I would never even think about buying one.
I’ll stick with the 5.0 v8
Blah, blah, blah. 20.8 kWh used out of a 122 kWh battery to tow a trailer that doesn't have particularly poor aerodynamics 8 miles uphill. There, saved you 40 minutes.
There never was any question if the CyberTruck could do it, the real question is what towing range can you expect on a normal trip with something like a camping trailer. That's the Achilles Heel of all EV trucks.
Comfortable, fast, stable, quiet. Seems like a pretty nice rig. I like that ability to instantly apply full brakes to the trailer!
Yeah, that Ram was awesome.....
@@Dusdaddy good one
it really does. only issue is tpical tesla quirks like the mirrors, hitch cover, stuff like that. but honestly if i wanted to get an suv to haul my family, i would get a cybertruck over a model y or a model x any day of the week. all the good that comes with those cars, except its a truck that can do truck things when you need it to.
however, things get even better. the battery was recently torn into and it was discovered that the battery is actuallly only 50% capacity of the casing the batteries are in. maybe that gap is under the truck and to protect the battery, but if it isnt, then we can almost certainly expect a legit 500+ mile range cybertruck at some point. maybe once they are able to ramp up production of batteries and reduce the price, and release the 500+ range model where the cyberbeast currently is. plus the extra battery weight will likely make it feel even more stable, plus nearly double your towing range.
Like any other $100 brake controller….
@@goneawol7498 really, other brake controllers do that? My tundra has the squeeze option that only increases its force when you touch the brake pedal.
Isn't a "Pickup Truck" supposed to have a Truck BED? How does the Cybertruck "Pickup" anything?
You could tell me that the cyber truck is the best truck in the world.....I'm still going to buy a 5.0.
The quality of that intro with the drone was cinematic fire! 💙
Yay! Thank you!
When I can tow my 21,000lb trailer for 500 miles, refuel my diesel in 30 minutes, grab a bite and do it all over again, I’ll consider the woke trucks….
Wwhhooo climate change…😮
The coyote is the best sounding American v8
Each battery cycle is one less available. It is a dead end literally
FFS
You're supposed to be experts.
Very fun to watch.
that cybertruck looks like it was designed by a 5 year old....LOL....totally underwhelming....think I will stick with a diesel or gas motor
Elmo initially promised 3500lbs of payload and 14k towing. They missed nearly every performance mark they set.
Guy is always saying stuff like that, stock manipulation is his goal.
Yep.
@@noneyabizz8337i don't think he has said a single true word yet at a press event.
We were supposed to be sending space ships to Mars with movie theaters and restaurants onboard (yes he said that) by now.
And the best looking is still the F-150 Truck, even in the xlt trim. 💪
Can't wait to see this done with the Ramcharger
A genuine truck's life is about endurance, not sprints. The Tesla Cybertruck is a poseurs vehicle, for someone who never gets any dirt under their fingernails and wouldn't know the difference between a flat tire and flat battery.. When asked to step up to the plate of work, it buckles.
