No need to remove the dowel pins at the shifter if you're not cleaning the tail housing/separating the sandwich plate at the rear seam right? If I wanted to only change bellhousings it's just the front cover bolts, snap rings, and sandwich plate bolts correct?
We wouldn't do it that way. Run to much of a risk ruining the seal on the other side of the sandwich plate by accident. So we remove everything, clean both sides and apply new RTV so it is 100% sealed again. That is the reason for the disassembly.
Need a new transmission for sr20det 1995 240sx. The one that blew was a cb71c and has problems with drifting because the drivetrain pushes into the back of it when the vehicle stops hard. Was looking into a fs5w71 and was given two different parts numbers for the same trans and was told there was only a difference in length. MTNIS019 and MTNIS004. Was told neither of them fit the sr20 bellhousing but thought maybe I could just swap the bellhousing. Any advice? Should I use the fs5w71 and just use the old bellhousing from my former cb71c too fit it onto the sr? It’s really been boggling me would appreciate any and all advice
I'm impressed, so is the trans of KA24DE the same as that of SR20DET? Just change the bell?
