The writers wrote a punchline that everyone was already thinking after that suggestive line, the audience is on the same wavelength and they don’t have to use the actual coarse term on the air. Everybody wins.
The sexual tension of Niles towards Daphne was off-the-charts hilarious - even more accentuated by Daphne being oblivious to it; likely due to a residual English deference in her towards social status and class separation (never called him 'Niles' but 'Dr. Crane' until the end).
I've never in my life seen as many laughs wrong out of unrequited love. Niles physical reactions to Daphne saying anything remotely suggestive are priceless. Frasier's bemused reactions are also a treasure...
Honestly, at the same time, I have never thought such obliviousness was possible. Daphnee never occured to herself of what effect she had on Niles. I know, it was a device for comedy and it made the show, but still, I wouldn't push on Niles having suffered, the main point was on the sexual tension and that was all right.
One of my absolute favorite lines from Frasier is "...Where?" Kelsey Grammar's delivery completely sells everything you need to know: The accusation, the annoyance, the triple entendre XD
My favorite early Daphne-Niles moment was that one in the first season where they're in the mansion with the power out, sitting before the roaring fireplace and Daphne says, "Dr Crane, your Glockenspiel has sprung to life!" and he's confused for a moment and suddenly says "Oh, the clock!"
My God, it's a recipe for disaster! You've got a vulnerable woman and an unstable man in a Gothic mansion on a rainy night! The only thing missing is someone shouting "Heathcliff!" across the moors!
The scene where he bursts through his front door after Marty tells him Niles and Mel eloped in the elevator and stands all wild-eyed after shouting "NILES" is friggin hysterical 😂
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰I love everytime Daphne say something sexy how Niles stand there in deep thought picturing it.🤣🤣🤣 or he drops what he is holding or say something slick and his face Expressions is priceless.
One of the great things about Daphne was that she, that is Jane leeves is quite pretty but they never characterized her as being perfect or some divine beauty, she was average, except to Niles. And even he had to learn to take her off the pedestal he put her on to become more balanced.
They turned that into a plot point. After they become a couple, Daphne feels she can't live up to the image of her Niles has conceived in his head and it takes a toll on her both mentally and physically (Jane Leeves was pregnant IRL, so they wrote in a weight gain subplot, but it worked)
It really shows what a great actor he is...makes you feel as it were real. So believable. It's like. WOW!! I mean I just finishing watching Frasier on Paramount + as I never saw it.
I thought he was gay the first time I saw him... and then he convinced me he wasn't. 😂😂😂 I was surprised/not surprised all over again when he finally came out. 😮🤦♀️🤣👍👍
Watching this back, I'm surprised how defensive Frasier gets over Daphne, almost like she's his siblings as opposed to Niles. Especially considering his hatred of Maris!
I think Frasier felt a responsibility to look after Daphne. In a later episode he talked with Martin about how young she had been when she started working for them.
@patriciabyrne5089 Actually it was Frasier's responsibility to make sure Niles didn't commit adultery. He cared about Daphne sure but it was more about keeping his brother from his impulses.
The writers did an exemplary job of creating all these situations between the two. I could watch hours of this relationship. As they say, the fun is in the chase ! (and it was fun to watch)
The show was funnier when she didn’t know he had it bad for her. I’m glad they ended up together but they should’ve saved that for the ending kinda like Ross and Rachel
I know Frasier whenever he mentioned “Niles!” to him, he was keeping him from doing something else but, to be honest, I kinda wanted to see what would happen if Frasier didn’t intervene, these two have such great chemistry with each other.
Okay, I (back in the 90’s and 2000’s) had no idea what gay was. Nor, saw it as a bad thing for I have never felt that way about anyone like, “liking” them that way regardless of their gender. But when I found out that David Hyde-Pierce was gay after the show was finished that is when I heard of what that word meant. All I can say is, David did an absolutely amazing job as a male interested in a woman and his reactions and fancies were ON KEY point~ Did he win Oscar from this show? Cuz that would be a crime shame!
It was because Niles was married to Maris....apparently he had infatuations before but Niles was turning it into an obsession....and the things he was doing. Martin was also against it because of said marriage. They were fine with Niles pursuing Daphne once he was separated and divorced.
The way Kelsey Grammer utters the word "Where?" at the end of the smoke-blowing bit is worthy of an Emmy in and of itself.
haha agreed. i came down to comments to see who would comment about that specific moment. love it.
It gets me EVERY TIME. That delivery was genius. xD
Have to watch it every night
The writers wrote a punchline that everyone was already thinking after that suggestive line, the audience is on the same wavelength and they don’t have to use the actual coarse term on the air.
Everybody wins.
I couldn't agree more...that makes me laugh every time
Fraiser banging on the door, screaming "Niles" in a storm will always be one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
"You know, Maris and Daphne are roughly the same size!"
"Give or take a foot."
The sexual tension of Niles towards Daphne was off-the-charts hilarious - even more accentuated by Daphne being oblivious to it; likely due to a residual English deference in her towards social status and class separation (never called him 'Niles' but 'Dr. Crane' until the end).
Absolutely
"Can you see them?"
"Oh yes, thank you."😅
One of my favorite two lines. I've seen these clips so many times and every time I literally laugh out loud. "😅"😅
I've had that comment once. At work.
Looking for some post-its...😳
I've never in my life seen as many laughs wrong out of unrequited love. Niles physical reactions to Daphne saying anything remotely suggestive are priceless. Frasier's bemused reactions are also a treasure...
More wry than bemused...
@withgoddess be nice

The scripts and chemistry between David Hyde Pierce and Jane Leeves is palpably off the charts😆
It's probably because they were friends irl. It's really different when you're close with your coworkers, wish I had that.
Niles' reaction when she tries on Donny's mum's wedding dress is brilliant!
I love how oblivious Daphne was to Niles’ lusty crush and flirtations 😂❤
A superb script executed by brilliant actors. A timeless series!
Not sure which was more amusing; Niles reactions to Daphne or Frasier's reactions to Niles' reactions.
Frasier has that side eye down to an art form

One of the best references ever on a sitcom!
My favorite quote!!
the delivery was top notch - I couldn't stop laughing
I hated Wuthering Heights but yeah, that bit killed me.
Frasier barking "Niles!" kills me
Fraiser barking "Niles!" is always so hilarious. Lol
David Hyde-Pierce has a real talent for physical comedy.
LOL, I just wrote something similar before reading the comments, I agree 100%😁
Look for the one where he is waiting for date. It's pretty amazing.
@@faultycracker7805 is that when he irons his pants so they catch on fire 🔥😂?
Absolutely!! My top 3 scenes are the ironing board, Daphne's room & the garbage disposal...I laughed until there was no sound & my sides hurt!!
David Hyde Pierce is adorable!
Few sounds as funny as Frasier letting out a Daphne-related yell of “Niles!”
Is they?
The scene where he bursts through his front door after Marty tells him Niles and Mel eloped in the elevator and stands all wild-eyed after shouting "NILES" is friggin hysterical 😂
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰I love everytime Daphne say something sexy how Niles stand there in deep thought picturing it.🤣🤣🤣 or he drops what he is holding or say something slick and his face Expressions is priceless.
When she said, “I had to remove me knickers to unzip the dress.” And he dropped his glass 😂
The 'yeees' at 0:40 is just *perfection*
‘I’ve always had an ear for your tongue’ is a savage flirt
Unless you tell that to your poodle....rocker ! 🤣
Kelsey’s intonations are fantastic.
Daphne - Can you see them?
Niles- Yes, thank you.
😂😂😂😂
Is that forbidden? In every sense of the word 😂😂😂😂
"Is that forbidden?"
"In every sense of the word."
That was a scene in the clip. I thought I'd reenact it here
David Hyde Pierce is as brilliant at physical comedy as he is with his delivery. IMO, Niles is by far the best character on the show thanks to him.
Keaton would be proud
Brilliantly written and preformed by the entire cast . Timeless series .absolute pleasure to watch over and over again.
@lindagodden8596~I L❤VE THIS SHOW&I Agree with You!! I have viewed it So Many Times, but it Still Makes me Laugh👏🏽🤣🤣🤣
0:41: I just love the delivery of that "Yes?", it's just so judgemental and disapproving.
The writing was spot on in this sitcom..as well asall the characters..still hilarious after all these years.
Your brother gave me $200 and now he's going to roll me over...brilliant
That was a great episode.
I’m laughing hard on the inside, but nothing can come out, it hurts. Utterly brilliant writing on this show; it’s a rare thing.
💯
One of my favorite collections. Frasier's reactions are so good.
Excellent job!
One of the best "Will they?" storylines from any show, with a great payoff.
That’s true. They managed to beat the Moonlighting/Remington Steele curse.
Absolutely agree. I felt like they strung us along JUST enough--not too long, but not too short. It was well-timed and very satisfying.
They ended up together if memory serves
A terrific start to the day with a cuppa tea 🍵 and these excellent clips of niles & daphne. 👍
"Can you see them?"
"Yes, thank you"
SENT MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
6:00 My favorite part of this one is the way Frasier and Martin don't even say anything, they just give him that look XD
Hilarious timing, dialogue and body language.
I love Frasier saying "what are you doing" to bring Niles back to reality.
0:41 “Yes?” Lol 😂😂😂 That voice of his!
This is my favorite show of all time it’s so funny and very entertaining
David Hyde Pierce was the real star. He stole every scene.
They’ll never be another couple like them! ❤
Yes I’ve always had an ear for your tounge !!
OH NILES!! 😆
Best will they won’t they ever!
Frasier's suss look always cracks me up.
Niles... What are you doing? 🤣
Alternate title: Frasier being Daphne’s protector from Niles
poor Niles, he loved her so much and she was clueless!
Seinfeld produced more catch phrases: "yada-yada-yada"," master of my domain", "no soup for you!" etc. but this show ages much better.
Andre': that's what happens when real ADUKT comedy is done...
True. Well said
The older/younger brother relationship was perfect.
Frasier and Niles are a golden comedy duo 🤣😂🤣
One of the great things about Daphne was that she, that is Jane leeves is quite pretty but they never characterized her as being perfect or some divine beauty, she was average, except to Niles. And even he had to learn to take her off the pedestal he put her on to become more balanced.
Daphne's attractiveness was beyond beauty, and she was definitely not average.
They turned that into a plot point. After they become a couple, Daphne feels she can't live up to the image of her Niles has conceived in his head and it takes a toll on her both mentally and physically (Jane Leeves was pregnant IRL, so they wrote in a weight gain subplot, but it worked)
You know that's a common sitcom trope, right? Pairing a very attractive woman with a much less extraordinary man?
Classic comedy team. Luv this show
Can't wait for part 2
I think Daphne and Roz were both beautiful, and entirely different types
I agree with you totally. Of course my husband preferred , my husband was a total boob man. There is as many men who would love Daphne legs
Brilliant! Thanks for posting 👍 👍🏴🏴
If I didn't know that DHP was gay, I would have truly believed that he was really in love with Jane 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂
He
@@conniesedona116 Oh, did I say she? Thanks 😝

Maybe she's the kind of woman he'd like to be.
"No, no. Sit Daphne, after all that cooking you must be absolutely strapless."
11:41 PM and I'm laughing so much I think I woke up Maris, I mean my wife.
Watching this back, I'm surprised how defensive Frasier gets over Daphne, almost like she's his siblings as opposed to Niles. Especially considering his hatred of Maris!
Frasier was protecting his brother from committing adultery and ruining his marriage. Whether he liked Maris was beside the point.
@@florbfnarb7099 and yet Maris was the one who hooked up with shenkman
I think Frasier felt a responsibility to look after Daphne. In a later episode he talked with Martin about how young she had been when she started working for them.
@patriciabyrne5089 Actually it was Frasier's responsibility to make sure Niles didn't commit adultery. He cared about Daphne sure but it was more about keeping his brother from his impulses.
Some of my favorite scenes!
It's a bit crazy, but in some ways it's actually sweet to be that obsessed about someone.
Frasier's favorite line. "Nines what are you doing?"
I've actually used the "I'm sorry, my mind was elsewhere for a second." line.
I forgot how much this show made me laugh 😂
The writers did an exemplary job of creating all these situations between the two. I could watch hours of this relationship. As they say, the fun is in the chase ! (and it was fun to watch)
Absolutely cannot wait for reboot in October!
The greatest love story ever. 😂
Yeeeeessss, in every sense of the word, and where…. Are my favorites
I was the same as Niles, and Frasier, a secret crush for Daphne,, and an old crush for Lilith. 😍😍🌺🌺
6:56-7:07 have to admit, her doing that caught me off guard too.
OK, I got the giggles again. Unrequited love? Hardly.
I just realized Niles is the one that made that show and I don't think I'm going to care for the new one without him
It's not the same without my Niles❤
How did she never know, after so many years...
My favorite tv couple before they were a couple! 😆
The show was funnier when she didn’t know he had it bad for her. I’m glad they ended up together but they should’ve saved that for the ending kinda like Ross and Rachel
Frasier's life would have been better if he had fallen in love with one woman the way Niles did.

eagerly awaiting pt 2 lol
"Frasier says"I think Niles has all the information he needs."
Niles is like a dog with a bone 😂😂😂
Nope the remake has no chance…..😂 this show was brillant
Best will they won't they ever made for tv. writing in this show is amazing.
I would pay big money to see Maris try to wear any dress that fit Daphne.
(Well, I would have loved to see Maris, period, but you know what I mean.)
Before watching Frasier I had no idea it was part of cheers or cheers was a thing
"I'm learning to blow smoke...... where ?"....................💀💀
NIIIIIIILES! NIIIIIIIIIILLES!! 😂😂
I love Niles
“You are shameless.” Lmaooo
“You are shameless.” 😂
I'm sorry but Frasier v2.0 is NOT going to do it!
Niles dropping the glass at 1:32 kills me every time

Fantastic Show Great 👍 writers 😊
We all know where that smoke is going. 💘
Physic my tail she never noticed for years
Well, it comes and goes.
That's what makes it so funny!
Why was Frasier against Niles’ feelings for Daphne in the first few seasons?
It was because Niles was married to Maris....apparently he had infatuations before but Niles was turning it into an obsession....and the things he was doing. Martin was also against it because of said marriage. They were fine with Niles pursuing Daphne once he was separated and divorced.
Frasier saw how Niles was doing things that were inappropriate because he was married to Maris..such as trying on the sexy dresses 'for Maris'...
Maybe because Niles was married ?
Have you watched the show? Niles was married.
Thank you 😁❤😅👍❤😁
😂hilarious, absoluty hilarious😂
Niles made this show what it was.
5:30 - Sideshow Bob briefly surfaces. :)
