The City of the Ancients always had such a mysterious and vaguely unsettling theme. It does make you wonder what the city was like back when the Cetra lived there.
@fatiroth19 Well they said that they would make more FF7 related things after the RE trilogy is finished so who knows? I would LOVE a Cetra prequel game about their war against Jenova.
I love the way this was used in Remake and Rebirth for '7 Seconds till the end' and the new composition in the city of the ancients, especially with those clock sound effects. But nothing will beat how this one gives that feeling of something... foreboding.
I like the new rendition of this in Remake and Rebirth, they nail the foreboding atmosphere for sure, but what they lack is that melancholy tone found in the strings here. Part of me is thinking they'll bring it back in Part 3 given how it's being set up, but if they don't, it's a massive missed opportunity
The City of the Ancients is one of those places where you always remember your first time. Similar to The Kingdom of Zeal from Chrono Trigger, certain places from FFXIV, certain places in NieR, etc. Places where you can't help but be completely absorbed. Places where you think, "Wow, someone opened their inner eye and COOKED!" I'll never forget the alien, foreboding end of disc 1.
I played FFVII as a teen (17yo)... tho STILL I get shivers sent into every fibre of my body when I hear this song (And others, of course). The music of Nobuo Uematsu dug deep into my soul. I have the highest gratitude for you Sir. Domo Uematsu-san
I played FF7 when it first came out in 97 (I was 10) and I vividly remember getting to this part in the game late at night in my room. This song completely changed the tone where I knew something bad happened here in the past and history was going to repeat itself but was not expecting for Aeris to meet her demise. I'll never forget tearing up from a video game when Aeris died. Because of this, still to this day, whenever I hear this song, I get goosebumps and shivers up and down my spine. It uncontrollably makes my hair stand on end a whole 27 years later.
What a great song! It matches perfectly with the City of the Ancients, and especially what is about to happen. But for some reason, it gives me peace :)

Keeping my fingers crossed for a flashback to Cetra times VS Calamity From the Skies Jenova
@@fewtch2273 that would make for a sweet side story as part of the ff7 remakes

@@fewtch2273not everything has to be shown and explained. That’s a major problem with the medium these days. Leave it mysterious
The music definitely gives off the feeling of "something terrible happened here" yet leaves you questioning exactly what happened.
Or something terrible is about to happen…

I’ve always thought that this was the best example of something being “hauntingly beautiful.”
Nobuo Urmatsu really is one of the musical masters of our lifetime.
Insane he’s self taught. That’s just wild to me
One of the most memorable themes - haunting, ominous and beautiful!

just Like Terra planet from FF9..planet inside planet..
Zeal's music...
Areith death struck my soul... i saved an extra diamond bangle and fairy tale for her...
I don’t think it’s hateful at all…
It’s apprehensive and worried and serious…
Where is that in the game again? I thought similar; Cloud has the power to summon a mini meteor...
It's just perfect. To hear this soundtrack once and just can't forget it. I've been listening to it over and over again.

Next song: Aerith's Theme
They had captured lightning in a bottle with this track. ⚡⚡⚡
The best moment in Final Fantasy history and the best soundtrack😊😊😊

My absolute favorite song on this series
It's a reminder to the player whether if Aerith is a cetra or an ancient. It's shrouded in mystery and I love it^^
There’s no mystery there. She is half Cetra, that’s made abundantly clear
Truthfully one of the most beautiful tracks I've heard in the entire series. Still gives me frisson goosebumps to this day.
It starts so unsettling and alien but around 1:09 it really changes to something hopeful.
"Something's wrong. I can feel it..."
The synth ostinato is my favorite part of this song.
One of My favorite song/track in the whole ff vii ost .
So much nostalgia! Thanks for these videos brings back elementary school good times 1997!

It’s my fav track and it’s the best music ever
It's like we are underwater but in *space*
Ethereal and haunting Yet beautiful and mysterious all at once man I love this theme
My absolute Fav
I always get sad when I hear this soundtrack for the first time during a playthrough, because I know what's coming, Aeriths death
Don’t advance, Cloud. it isn’t worth it. I’d let a galaxy die before a friend.
Ignis?
Let me guess. Considering that the next video upload is "Buried in Snow", they skipped THAT SONG in order to not spoil what happens.
A very chilling D Minor pedal...
I can't listen to this and not get anxious. Such a good song...but I have PTSD for what this led me to when I was 13...
I still remember the first time I was here and what happens...
Shoutout to Mega Ran for turning this into a rap song.
Nobueo Uematsu is the Hans Zimmer of video games
He is greater
"Listen to the Cries of the Planet"?! More like "Listen to the Cries of the Player", am I right?
Awesome [Video Soundtrack] Listen to the Cries of the Planet [FINAL FANTASY VII] Video.
Sound of mysterie and New world
Kinda futuristic, something not from this world.
Ya era hora.
You should have left us explore the city instead of rushing it in Rebirth... and changing it adding those unnecessary multiverses..
Yeah, not me tearing up in Rebirth when this started to play.
I absolutely hate that I had to like this upload... There were 777 likes!!

Rebirth did not do this track any justice at all. Bleh. End of Remake was OK. OG still the best by far.
