To this day i'm still amazed at what they were able to make with so little, they had to push the PlayStation 1 to it's absolute limit, use every bit of Ram and Memory they could, and find countless workarounds to software and hardware limitations to make this game a reality.
They wanted to use orchestrated music firstly and write it on CD, but game didn't go well with this, so they made music with similar technology like they did in SNES era.
The way Cloud leaps off the train in a head first front flip to land in an action hero pose is just full of the exaggerated swagger of an EX-SOLDIER mercenary. It gives me mako poisoning every time he does it.
First experienced the opening when I was about 7 or 8, 33 years old now and I still get goosebumps. Best opening to one of the greatest games of all time.
And I was only in God's project then and I decided to play PC version. You need dgvoodoo2, a good GM soundfont and virtualmidisynth to install that soundfont to play on a modern PC
Even as someone who never grew up with PlayStation, never grew up with or even liked turn based RPGs that much growing up or even now really, I’m in absolute awe of this game. Even now, the scale, story, and technical aspects are absolutely insane, let alone for it’s time. After playing it for the first time over 20 years after it came out, this game is easily one of the best I’ve ever experienced. I cannot even begin to imagine what it would have been like to experience this game when it dropped in 1997! Playing through this with my girlfriend has become one of the fondest handing memories I’ve ever had.
I love how the music perfectly syncs up with what’s happening. The title flashing onscreen, Cloud jumping off the train and lifting his head. I don’t notice games doing things like that anymore. This intro is just perfection
My favorite game of all time since day 1 of it's release. I remember my mom and dad buying it for me at Sears - I coveted this as I was looking forward to it for so long at that time and we didn't buy many games at all (we couldn't afford it). This opening is still the best opening to a game alongside Silent Hill 2 based on how quickly you can get into it with basically no background on who you are controlling.
Hace años solo al escuchar la melodia del comienzo supe que esta hiba a ser una aventura magica, que musica tan buena por dios dudo que algun otto juego la supere
Nintendo should take notes from Square and do something like this so their fans can listen to their music without worrying if a channel is going to be struck with 50+ Strikes (obviously Square can be like that, but making a music channel is a large step in the right direction)
@@parrydogsickle This is a verified channel, which ig yeah anyone could get, but if it was fan created I feel like it would be struck early on. Unless this is a fan account that Square has ALLOWED to upload their music. Either way, Nintendo should take notes

You know, I just started playing the FF7 Remake and somehow, the music just doesn't hit like this. This will always be iconic. It's like they tried to hard to mix up the remake and somehow lost the special feel this music had. It's not a bad thing to have electronic music if that fits with the style of gameplay and plot of your story.
In the original, Bombing Mission is obviously inspired by music from Terminator. It's should sound in remake as mix of electronic and orchestra, but they just remade all in orchestra.
I don't also don't have the same nostalgia for that reason. I do remember watching my older brother play it years ago and I just watched and had no idea what was going on. I did play it eventually by playing the Steam Port. Playing the game was an experience and even to this day I really like the opening. It has a certain soul to it that I feel like is missing from the uncanny valley that is The Remake for this game's graphics.
This for me is tied with Ori and the blind Forest for best videogame soundtracks. It’s also still crazy to me that this game came on three discs on the original Playstation
