Not gonna lie, i stopped moving for a good amount (8 minutes total to be exact) not only because i was in awe at how this later part of the Temple looked overall, but also because of this music. It didn't just send shivers down my spine, it outright terrified me. This place is not meant for mere humans. Death is but a relief in comparison. A Sanctuary made to contain pure evil and malice, held back by the Lifestream.
After murdering a ton of other people in cold blood. I hate that in 7 Remake/birth. I love that Clive stacks bodies when people cross him and that his allies have zero problems with it.
@@Onishiro Different reasons. Cloud can knock out or kill Shinra soldiers, no one will care. Usually in self defense. @@VioletMaeve I find the enjoyment angle to be somewhat of a stretch, at least from the party's perspective. From the outside you'd hardly know what he feels, given that he hardly ever emotes. When Cloud gets into one of his particular episodes, they try to portray the violence as being "too far" due to the fact that he's spilling blood (which is rather cheap and inconsistent with how guns, claws, and swords usually work). @@kayzaac This is the same man that was about to execute Johnny and Reno, neither of whom had any personal beef or were trying to kill him (at that point).
This is the best song in the OST in the whole game. Loved how they kept the almost alien feeling of the original. But made it seem even more sinister. Also, the touch of Those Chosen by the Planet creeping in was so perfect. I just wish that it played all during the Forgotten Capital portion of the game
Really loved this part of the game. The music & the atmosphere were perfect. You really felt like you were in a place you shouldn't belong, like the planet itself was angry at you.
Suck so bad we never got the full version of this track... Great as this is, it only has pieces of the original track. Same with Temple of the Ancients. :(
I really don’t understand this at all. „Listen to the Cries of the Planet“ and „Forrested Temple“ are two of the most iconic pieces from FF7. But no, we need ten versions of One Winged Angel instead.
Thanks for this. While I'm really sad about the lack of actually being in the Forgotten Capital, I do think this track and Chapter 13 in general give a very good alternative to understanding how absolutely fucked the situation is* at this point in time
@@captainpep3 This comment has post-Rebirth spoilers. That's what I was thinking. City of the Ancients second visit leads basically right into the finale of the game - to the firing of the Sister Ray, Hojo cleanup(which, just like end of Chapter 12, would be a great "explore the planet before the finale" segment) and then Northern Crater.
@@MrTerz95tbh the temple was more enjoyable and fleshed out and the forgotten capitol was pretty much the same. You enter it and you run straight to the altar
The moment this played, i just changed my mind about og ff7 and was wishing for aerith to stay this time but the ending left me with more questions than answers and its keeping me nervous
It's the devs leaving themselves open to hack together whatever nonsense they feel like based on fanboy opinions formed by fleeting dopamine rushes. Then again, og FF7 always has been a goddamn hackjob of a narrative at times. Saved only by the great characters and the overall charm of the game. They had a chance to fix it in the Remake, so far, I'm not impressed.
This was my favorite track in the original FF7 outside of Jenova Absolute so for me hearing this was just… beautiful I’m glad to be alive to experience this masterpiece be remade into another masterpiece
Absolutely loved this game, but was surprised how they handled the Forgotten City at the end. This song (which is when it was originally played in OG FF7) would have been PERFECT for the final scene in the Forgotten City. Imagine listening to the beginning of this track as you are heading through the city to meet with Aerith praying at the altar. Again, I have so few criticisms for the game, but this song seems to be written for that moment and they just didn't do it.
FF7 Rebirth blew my expectations out the water when I finished this game. This was literally one of the best single player games I’ve played in my life. My one complaint is why is everyone hating on this game ???!! I understand the mini games are boring but what about queens blood ?? Wish they would make that a mobile card game online itself. But As a OG player to the original. I think this is becoming far better. I get the multiverse is confusing but the way they are going about this is actually brilliant. It just shows we underestimated Aerith powers and sephiroth from the original. If anyone played the original and watched advent children then you should know this isn’t a remake, it’s continuing. And I can’t wait to see what the 3rd game is going to bring. I can guarantee you that the final game will have the most epic boss fight in the history of games! Remember these last 2 games sephiroth hasn’t even tried 100% to fight us with all his powers… BTW I think the 3rd game will be called FF7: Homecoming
At first, I was a little unsure about the choice to use the first part of this theme here rather than in the Forgotten Capital. BUT... once I realized what was happening to Cloud mentally throughout this section, I understood completely. This was chilling.
My jaw dropped when this played the first time, but I literally stopped in place when the clock sounds started up in the background. I was already stressed that Aerith's death was around every corner I took and this didn't help. 😂
This part with floating stones pieces and this ticking song reminds me a lot of the last episode and theme of Stranger Things 4th season hahahahha btw Love it! ❤
I‘m kind of annoyed of how the inject Sephiroth‘s theme into literally EVERYTHING. I love OWA as much as anyone but not everything has to reference it.
From a storytelling perspective it makes perfect sense to lace Sephiroth 's motif in there. The initial premise of the level is that you are racing Sephiroth to the materia. So you are meant to feel paranoid about running into him. But as you progress further and further you gradually become more suspicious that you are being played and Sephiroth WANTS you to get there first. He's orchestrating the whole thing from just under the surface.
@@amysteriousviewer3772 The motif here is Those Chosen by the Planet, Sephiroth's actual theme song rather than his boss theme. It plays in numerous cutscenes across the original game, including several in the Temple. So it makes perfect sense for it to be here and a few other places as well. Its a different arrangement almost every time too so I quite like the variations they come up with. Nibelheim one is the best one.
I loved this part of the game. Although, hate to be a downer, but this was one of the few times the game gave me chills - and those chills ended in bitter disappointment. The entire game felt like an unending series of forced upon mini games. But when we finally got here, it started feeling right. Then... they botched Aeris' death. Completely. The greatest milestone in gaming history shredded. Absolutely mindboggling to me how an almost 30 year old game, with characters that consisted of 30-some polygons and a MIDI track could invoke more emotion that a game with millions of polys in frame and an arrange OST.
I'll be legit. I have not felt there's been a final dungeon ambience in a very long time. This game reminded me why i got into final fantasy. This area sold me that there's hope for devs in square enix. And this game solidified gamers are whiny man children with binkies in their mouths

Then I was really annoyed when it doesn't actually play at all in the forgotten capital, meaning there's just no full recreation of this track in Rebirth at all. A huge mistake.
@@amysteriousviewer3772The forgotten capital felt like a rushed after thought like the end of FF15. Shame that you couldn't explore that part of the map first or explore the area. Really smart to use the clock sounds in this track because of the foreboding of what's to come
