He is so well behaved!! Mentioned in one of the Facebook guinea pig groups that I used head and shoulders when I was bathing my piggies bc of the ring worm and I got so many comments about how unsafe the shampoo was and dangerous and how I shouldn't bath my piggies even if they have ring worm because of the unnecessary stress 😐😑🙃😌 but I mean I'll always trust an organization that deals with hundreds of piggies and my piggies had no side affect except for their ring worm is gone lol
Valerie Martinez You can always tell when you're stressing them out. We see pigs that are absolutely filthy and have been living in horrible conditions for a long time a bath is great for them
Rynn21 I left one because I was gonna adopt a piggie had all the stuff that I needed then they started to be really rude!! So I got one form somewhere else. I had 2 other piggies btw
I can tell you that the stress of ring worm is worse than a bath. I am pretty sure if you handle your piggie everyday and spend time with your piggie the bath is not that bad and they get use to it.
I needed to re watch this after I streamed it the first time because I wasn’t listening. I was very distracted with Timmy’s cuteness 😂🤦🏻♀️ staring at him and his reaction the whole time. Hahaha
Your guinea pig videos are my favorite to learn about taking care of my guinea pigs, Duke & Tarheel. I followed your suggestions & bought the plastic container, the imitation head & shoulders shampoo & a coconut smelling shampoo & conditioner. I was surprised they seemed to like when I was massaging & soaping them up! They also loved me holding them in a towel after their bath. Their fur is silky soft & smells so nice!!!!! Thanks so much. 🌻
He is an all around sweet little guy. He was found in a park I believe. With Mange! I made a sweater out of a sock so he wouldn't scratch himself into seizure. Dimas at the rescue is really the one who nursed him back to health, along with Saskia and the other rescue volunteers.
Hi Scott, I love this video. Timmy is so relaxed taking a bath. I watched this video when we got new guinea pigs and before we gave them baths for the first time. Ours are still never relaxed during baths but watching this gave me confidence. Super helpful.
I bought a Guinea pig yesterday and she looks just like Timmy ! I just put her bigger cage together this morning and bought her some treats and another little house for her to hide in. I also bought her some shampoo. Figured I’d give her a bath today so she can be nice and clean in her new home. Great tips !! Thank you !! 💖💖💖
I know this was a couple of years ago but have you thought of putting holes a few inches from the top of the tub all around so that when the water starts to get too high it will automatically start emptying into the sink? I would think that would help with the water getting too high.
Ok I learned something today that I can use head and shoulders thank you. I’ve used a diluted horse fungal shampoo. When I thought a fungal situation was starting. I like this option better.
Timmy is a little ginger version of my Tulip! Who is getting a bath today! Thank you for the informative video. Hopefully my little girl is as well behaved as Mr. Timmy.
Same here. Bathtime is an absolute nightmare for me and my piggies. They are just trying to escape and when I'm done, I feel like I need a drink and therapy 🙄😓
My piggy loves to be wrapped in a towel after, that's her favorite part! And of course her clean cage and filled up bowl. The baths make them so Clean and floofy.
He so cute. I don’t know if you ever heard of gorgeous Guineas but she makes all type of safe shampoos for all types of guinea pigs. I love her product and I have had one shampoo bottle last me as long as 3 years so it worth the money.
Hi! I'm uncertain if anyone is providing feedback to the comments any longer, since it's been some time, but I was wondering how often I should be bathing my boars? I've been doing it monthly, and recently someone told me it was not a good idea. Thank you for the info on how to clean the grease gland! I am going to try that next time, as well as the Head and Shoulders bit, since I didn't realize about the possibility of ringworm.
From what I've heard, the general guidelines are about once or twice per week (more or less if they don't or do get itchier) for ringworm; when they're dirty or older, and can't bathe themselves well, anymore; and very rarely otherwise. The least you can wash them is probably best, as they tend to have dry, sensitive skin. :/ If they get dirty feet, bums, and chins, you can give them shallow baths, if you're concerned about dry skin. Just enough to wet their feet and bum, and wipe them down with a cloth (in the direction of their fur, only). Add soap, if necessary. If anyone has more precise information, or if I'm wrong in any way, please let us know. :)
I have an important question. Where I live our town has a small amout of chlorine in the water. Is that dangerous to give a guinea pig a bath in? Will it hurt them or make him sick?
Pebbles Bam Most residential (non-well) water is treated with chlorine to disinfect it and is at perfectly safe levels for humans and animals to drink and bathe in.
My guinea pigs never let me do the conditioner part to keep from tangling my one guinea pig has longer hair than the other one and they absolutely hate the blow dryer so I have to keep working the towel and I try not to pay them when it's cold out but you're so calming and you come to guinea pigs and they work beautifully with you I try to stay calm but I also have five kids so I can only bathe at certain times just listening to you give instructions and helpful tips and the step by steps to work through getting the guinea pig cleaned properly and situated is so calming and soothing
Hahaha, when he was first lifted out of the water for a lather, it looked like he was looking at the camera like, "Can you believe this guy?"
He was like SEND HELP!
Manners Bananers 😂 😂 😂AGREED!! I’m laughing so hard!

Another great, informative video!
Thanks, Kelly Mack!
Thank you for this. Very helpful
He's so chill!
A full body spa for Timmy ❤️ adorable and well loved 😇😍. Timmy isn’t even fighting any of it
If you take the aerator off just for their baths it will make your faucet quieter and might startle them less during their baths
I actually lol’d when you specified that saskia cuts the hair not the gland idky that was just hilarious to me
Can I use baby shampoo?
Your the best
Yeah! I am so glad he is getting better!
My guinea pig is a climber so when I take him a bath he tries to escape by climbing my neck all wet and scratching me all over ;-;
My experience, definitely clip the nails before showering 😂
Same here. Bathtime is an absolute nightmare for me and my piggies. They are just trying to escape and when I'm done, I feel like I need a drink and therapy 🙄😓
Feww I’m so glad that milky eye thing is normal!! I thought it was them having an allergic reaction to something in the tap water.
“Timmy, congratulations you’re a man” 😂😂
Thanks for the video! So helpful 😊♥️
His face is so stinking cuteeeee 🥰🥰🥰
How often do you give baths?
Timmy has such a cute little face! I love him. I have three skinny pig boys all rescues x
I'm about to get a Guinea pig and this will help so much thank you, Timmy was also so calm 😂❤

What a chill little dude. My two boys are little psychos when we try to bath them lol
Awwww Timmy you are adorable🖤🖤
Timmy!!!! I love you little Timmy, tell your dad to bring you to the rescue so I can give you smooches (and maybe sneak you out)
When should you bathe your piggies? Like, once a month?
How often should I give my guinea pig a bath?
Kinsey Ostendorf don’t bathe them at all unless they show signs of mange, lice, or ringworm. the water can strip their skin of its natural oils. :)
How is he so calm? Mine leaped our onto my chest and is constantly wiggling so I can’t even lather her
so cute! I will do this with my abby next, the dandruff shampoo. Hopefully shes okay with it LOL Great video!
So freakin cute
This video was very helpful
Thanks so much
How often should you bathe a guinea pig? Thanks.
We are getting our first guinea pig. How often should we give her a bath?
Awwee Timmy's so cutteeee 😍
