My lil piggy died yesterday. He was such a sweet boy. I loved him with all my heart. The four years he was ours were happy ones. If you're reading this and have a lil piggy of your own. Yeah. My baby's boy left me about a year ago, he died in my arms. He was really sick and on a lot of meds and I just felt that tonight was the night he was gonna leave. I miss him so much he was my little cuddle buddy.

A carrot lover? Awe.... Mine, love lettuce and bell pepper. Actually, they love alot of foods. I had to egg plants and i was being lazy on checking to see if it was safe for my guinea's. They started to need refrigeration but i decided to ask my phone instead of putting it away. Turns out, they love it and it is good for them.

Awww i never thought about that. My guinea pigs sleep through tv noise like me. But if they heard me, theyd be up like no time. Like the way they do to me when theyre bugging each other. Odd how that works.

When I clean out my pigs cage they start popcorning like crazy. It's like they're saying 'thanks' so cute. They also love new items and rearranging of things.

@Kaleela Edwards well, it depends bc every piggie has it's own personality. Mine was pretty skittish and a crybaby too, so it took like a year and a half to him to trust fully on me
My boys have gotten quite “comfortable” with my dog barking. They used to flinch and run for cover when she’d bark, but now they just go about business as usual. It’s interesting how they adapt to their surroundings. Impressive little animals! Other loud noises, however, are unacceptable! 😂 ♥️
My older boy used to get really scared when he moved into the same house as my dog with the barking. Then I started feeding them at the same time, and my dog barks like mad before food time. So he started getting excited by the dog barking and wheeking like crazy 'cause he knew food was coming. My younger boy grew up with the barking, so he just gets the mega-zoomies when he hears barking around dinnertime.

My girl eevee LOVES being picked up, she is fearless XD I've never seen her flinch when being touched, picked up, or held. She just adores being adored lol

You can get a barber's pencil (styptic pencil), it looks like a piece of chalk but is has a minor numbing agent, coagulating agent, and antiseptic properties. If you ever cut the quick, you wet it and dab it on the nail and it will stop the bleeding and the pain for your piggy.

@@heavyjersey I have 3 guinea pigs and 1 human in a guinea pig body lol. She dislikes other guinea pigs and can't be housed with them. She is freakishly smart understanding more spoken words then most 2 year olds. She finds large pieces of wood chip from her bedding and will hold it in her mouth and use it to scrub/scrape the walls of her house to clean her house. There is a huge list of things I could write but you get the idea.
My one piggy loves getting rubbed down his nose and around his ears. He lays on his side and falls asleep cuddled into me. I can tell by his behavior he's relaxed and loving the petting.

I am learning all the time since getting my 6 male Guinea pigs a week ago from Cousin Jessica they are so funny and hide under the newspaper i put into their along with veggies and hay. Getting so much off the net but they all differ in what to give them. Thank god I have a veggie garden growing
We have a 2x5 for my two boys and clean it twice a day and wash the fleece every few days. The popcorns when they get put back in is my favorite thing.
I just built a guinea castle, three levels of 8 square feet. I didn't know why the cages always have that corrugated plastic on the sides....shavings everywhere.

My guinea pig hates his butt being touched. Whenever he gets his butt touched, he starts scratching me and running from me. He also spins around in circles.
Man I'd prefer being scratched than pissed on my guinea pigs squirts piss at you if you or anything really bumps into her butt idk why she prefers to do that

I USE A SMALL BASKET FOR MY GUINEA PIGS AND I HOLD IT UP TO THEIR CAGE AND THEY JUST JUMP IN IT, ITS MUCH EASIER AND THEY LIKE IT MORE THEN GRABBING THEM.
every guinea pig I have owned so far (4, 3 if you dont count the one who died 2 weeks after we got her, she was weirdly sick and died despite medication, so sad) all love running up to shoulders during lap time. I am not sure why they like shoulders, it might just be as simple as they like the warmth between the chair neck and shoulders.
My piggies live cop shows I turn them on in the morning while doing house work I find some watching while eating pellets out if there bowls. They love to sit on sofa to watching tv
We travel on the weekends with ours and they just chill they don't show any stress... I think it makes a big difference if you have a good relationship with them and make them comfortable

I need help. My guinea pig is about 5 years old and my other guinea pig just died a few days ago from something we’re still trying to figure out. He won’t eat or drink anything and he keeps wheezing. He also won’t move very often. I’m pretty sure he has a respiratory issue, but I can’t take him to the vet because my family is quarantine, is there anything I can do? Plob he died from depression guineas cant be alone they’re social mammals and need companionship from their own species so he felt that the other had died and because he had no other buddy he got depressed and died it’s very common among them
Actually, my piggy loves when i rub halfway down his nose and rub back and forth with the pad of my finger. He closes his eyes and relaxes, continues eating while i do it, etc. And to clarify, I didn't just start doing that. I assumed they all didn't like it so i would scratch side to side, not up and down. But I did it a couple times to see if his reaction would be consistent and it was, he seems to like it.

I've had a couple of pigs who learned how to climb onto my wrist, so they could get snuggles/floor time, without being "picked up", 'cause they were the ones initiating getting lifted out of their cage.

Thank you for all your content on how to care for guinea pigs, I just recently bought myself two gorgeous short haired black and white guinea pigs and your videos are a life saver I been watching them for a while now learning as much as I could before I bought them. They seem to be really happy. :) Though I could use advice. I bought the timothy hay and pellets like you said. They eat all the hay and vegetables in the world but they arent really touching the pellets? Im trying to give them all the love in the world and I wanna make sure they are cared for properly. Their previous owner had them in a really small cage with little room. :( I want to make sure I am doing things right

I recently bought a pair of guinea pig for a certain reason... to make me feel nit alone and forget my anxiety.. it works a lot for me! They are lovely.

They have a fleece sack and a soft house to hide in, and often end up falling asleep there. Food and snacks provided! My Kai hates anything that takes his front paws of the floor, cutting nails, cleaning his sack, checking he's not losing fur on his belly... Twister hates going home after floor time, it takes hours to get him into the carrier and lots of bribes! One of the pellet bowls are down there with him, of course.
8 and 9 really made me realize why my guinea pig is acting this way, it’s my first day with my guinea pig and he’s a boy. I noticed he purrs if I pet his bottom, and hates being picked up. He seems to enjoy being hidden in my neck though!
@@ScottysAnimals I have two girl guinea pigs, Lazurus and Beast. They were prescribed by my shrink as therapy animals. They saved my life with kindness, humility, gentleness, meekness, love , and all around good vibes! They are really good critters and I spoil them. I fought and fought with my landlord about locking them in cages, me being an ex-con. I guess I won, because he quit and they run around the living room ALL the time like dog's. Scared, vegetable loving dog's! 😆 When I pick them up and pet them, they turn to butter 🧈. The three of us are a good family. They never want to borrow money, or offer me drugs. And they are a couple of the best listeners I have ever had the pleasure of meeting! It's a good feeling when they pur, or, in Lazuruss case give you livebites.

The plan was to have only one, though I was worried about her being lonely and for obvious reasons childrens attention spans are that of a goldfish, I decided that for guinea I would get her a friend. I don't know much so while they are in isolation at the pet store, and our hutch is being constructed I am doing as much research as I can.

G Yeah, that’s exactly what happened. Eventually my mom gave them away to a non-kill shelter since I never took care of them. It sucks to think about the poor life style they’ve had for over half of their lives.

Nate reminds me of my Mingo. My boys live on fleece but also have a “ cavy kitchen” with paper bedding where they eat pellets,hay and drink..... they are so cute because when I vacuum their fleece they popcorn... maybe it’s because they know as part of their routine twice a day they get veggies.I kiss and smell my piggies also.Mingo will let me just pick him up however Patch always has to go into a hidey. When Mingo’s cuddle meter is pegged he will gently pinch me with his teeth when it’s time to go home. Just want to say I purchased a chalcedony pendant from you and I love it for 2 reasons, one is because it is for a very good cause and two Is because I know it holds your sweet, caring and positive energy. I love you and Saskia and everyone that loves and helps these sweet little angels. My heart is so full of love for them and it hurts to see them needing homes and or not being properly taken care of. So glad you are all about educating about how much dedication and work goes into caring for these little guys. One of mine has a signal shes ready to go back after sitting with me... she tugs on my shirt. Works every time. I think theyre used to signalling because they ring bells to bring me to the pen.
Mine are so used to the daily fleece vacuuming they sometimes wont even move so I can do the spot where they are sitting. Go around me, dude, Im trying to digest here. I can be touching them with the vacuum wand and they still wont move. Spoiled little buggers.

How to: Get across your house without having to feed your piggies. If they’re sleeping, tiptoe across your house so that they don’t know that their source of delicious food is near. If they’re awake, run like Naruto because if you run any slower, you gotta go get those carrots.
My pigs are pretty good with sounds but they cannot stand any type of tapping noise. I'm a habitual desk drummer and I have had to break the habit because it upsets them so badly
I have a guinea pig that was chewing at his back. (Teddy). After healing up, daily, we give him a back rub and he purrs up a storm... but no longer chews, as long as he gets his back scratch.
I have a question regarding cages. Is it ok to put the guinea pigs in the store bought cages at night? I set them up in a hallway every day (having everything form little houses, food and water) and at night I clean up and set them up in their respective cages where they have a hiding space where they usually sleep (two girls, each one has their own cage because one of them is territorial)
The thing I've found they hate most is nail trims. A necessary evil. Rest of it all makes sense, I see a lot of people on the Guinea Pig Crazy facebook group saying their pig hates being picked up and asking what to do about that - I always tell them they always do, even if they like being held once you have them.

When I got my first guinea pig, I got her from a difficult home, my friend asked if I wanted to help her and I did (and she is the best guinea pig). I never had one before so I had to do a lot of research, when I learned about their nails, it kinda made me nervous since I wasn’t sure how far. When I got my second one (a month later), I finally got a nail clipper and brush (they were always sold out). My first never got her nails done before, she was so happy and willing to let me do them. The second one didn’t need them since I got her from a pet store. They are the cutest thing, such beggers tho 😂

I put out a bed for my piggies and they climb into it. Then I can pick it up. They prefer this to just picking them up with my hands.

I was clipping my guinea pigs nails and I accidentally went a bit too far and it started bleeding and I felt so bad I cried and gave him a big hug 🥺😓
You can dip his foot in a little mound of corn starch to help the bleeding stop fast

You can get a barber's pencil (styptic pencil), it looks like a piece of chalk but is has a minor numbing agent, coagulating agent, and antiseptic properties. If you ever cut the quick, you wet it and dab it on the nail and it will stop the bleeding and the pain for your piggy.

She is freakishly smart understanding more spoken words then most 2 year olds. She finds large pieces of wood chip from her bedding and will hold it in her mouth and use it to scrub/scrape the walls of her house to clean her house. There is a huge list of things I could write but you get the idea.

My one piggy loves getting rubbed down his nose and around his ears. He lays on his side and falls asleep cuddled into me. I can tell by his behavior he's relaxed and loving the petting.

I just built a guinea castle, three levels of 8 square feet. I didn't know why the cages always have that corrugated plastic on the sides....shavings everywhere.

I USE A SMALL BASKET FOR MY GUINEA PIGS AND I HOLD IT UP TO THEIR CAGE AND THEY JUST JUMP IN IT, ITS MUCH EASIER AND THEY LIKE IT MORE THEN GRABBING THEM.

every guinea pig I have owned so far (4, 3 if you dont count the one who died 2 weeks after we got her, she was weirdly sick and died despite medication, so sad) all love running up to shoulders during lap time. I am not sure why they like shoulders, it might just be as simple as they like the warmth between the chair neck and shoulders.

I need help. My guinea pig is about 5 years old and my other guinea pig just died a few days ago from something we’re still trying to figure out. He won’t eat or drink anything and he keeps wheezing. He also won’t move very often. I’m pretty sure he has a respiratory issue, but I can’t take him to the vet because my family is quarantine, is there anything I can do?

Plob he died from depression guineas cant be alone they’re social mammals and need companionship from their own species so he felt that the other had died and because he had no other buddy he got depressed and died it’s very common among them

Actually, my piggy loves when i rub halfway down his nose and rub back and forth with the pad of my finger. He closes his eyes and relaxes, continues eating while i do it, etc.
And to clarify, I didn't just start doing that. I assumed they all didn't like it so i would scratch side to side, not up and down. But I did it a couple times to see if his reaction would be consistent and it was, he seems to like it.

Dude okay so when I worked a petstore the guinea pig owners were one thing but the snake owners were always super eccentric and weird looking.
I've had a couple of pigs who learned how to climb onto my wrist, so they could get snuggles/floor time, without being "picked up", 'cause they were the ones initiating getting lifted out of their cage.

My boys sit with me in the sofa, we watch british tv. They have a fleece sack and a soft house to hide in, and often end up falling asleep there. Food and snacks provided!
My Kai hates anything that takes his front paws of the floor, cutting nails, cleaning his sack, checking he's not losing fur on his belly...
Twister hates going home after floor time, it takes hours to get him into the carrier and lots of bribes! One of the pellet bowls are down there with him, of course.

8 and 9 really made me realize why my guinea pig is acting this way, it’s my first day with my guinea pig and he’s a boy. I noticed he purrs if I pet his bottom, and hates being picked up. He seems to enjoy being hidden in my neck though!

@@ScottysAnimals I have two girl guinea pigs, Lazurus and Beast. They were prescribed by my shrink as therapy animals. They saved my life with kindness, humility, gentleness, meekness, love , and all around good vibes! They are really good critters and I spoil them. I fought and fought with my landlord about locking them in cages, me being an ex-con. I guess I won, because he quit and they run around the living room ALL the time like dog's. Scared, vegetable loving dog's! 😆 When I pick them up and pet them, they turn to butter 🧈. The three of us are a good family. They never want to borrow money, or offer me drugs. And they are a couple of the best listeners I have ever had the pleasure of meeting! It's a good feeling when they pur, or, in Lazuruss case give you livebites.
So educational. Thank you for sharing. My teenage daughter just got one and we want to make sure we care for her properly.

The plan was to have only one, though I was worried about her being lonely and for obvious reasons childrens attention spans are that of a goldfish, I decided that for guinea I would get her a friend. I don't know much so while they are in isolation at the pet store, and our hutch is being constructed I am doing as much research as I can.

Yeah, that’s exactly what happened. Eventually my mom gave them away to a non-kill shelter since I never took care of them. It sucks to think about the poor life style they’ve had for over half of their lives.

Nate reminds me of my Mingo. My boys live on fleece but also have a “ cavy kitchen” with paper bedding where they eat pellets,hay and drink..... they are so cute because when I vacuum their fleece they popcorn... maybe it’s because they know as part of their routine twice a day they get veggies.I kiss and smell my piggies also.Mingo will let me just pick him up however Patch always has to go into a hidey. When Mingo’s cuddle meter is pegged he will gently pinch me with his teeth when it’s time to go home. Just want to say I purchased a chalcedony pendant from you and I love it for 2 reasons, one is because it is for a very good cause and two Is because I know it holds your sweet, caring and positive energy. I love you and Saskia and everyone that loves and helps these sweet little angels. My heart is so full of love for them and it hurts to see them needing homes and or not being properly taken care of. So glad you are all about educating about how much dedication and work goes into caring for these little guys. Mine are so used to the daily fleece vacuuming they sometimes wont even move so I can do the spot where they are sitting. Go around me, dude, Im trying to digest here. I can be touching them with the vacuum wand and they still wont move. Spoiled little buggers.

the piney smell is from the aromatic hydrocarbons the emit. The stuff mineral spirits are refined from. Kiln drying burns off, evaporates away the chemicals.

My pigs are pretty good with sounds but they cannot stand any type of tapping noise. I'm a habitual desk drummer and I have had to break the habit because it upsets them so badly
I have a guinea pig that was chewing at his back. (Teddy). After healing up, daily, we give him a back rub and he purrs up a storm... but no longer chews, as long as he gets his back scratch.
I have a question regarding cages. Is it ok to put the guinea pigs in the store bought cages at night? I set them up in a hallway every day (having everything form little houses, food and water) and at night I clean up and set them up in their respective cages where they have a hiding space where they usually sleep (two girls, each one has their own cage because one of them is territorial)
The thing I've found they hate most is nail trims. A necessary evil. Rest of it all makes sense, I see a lot of people on the Guinea Pig Crazy facebook group saying their pig hates being picked up and asking what to do about that - I always tell them they always do, even if they like being held once you have them.

When I got my first guinea pig, I got her from a difficult home, my friend asked if I wanted to help her and I did (and she is the best guinea pig). I never had one before so I had to do a lot of research, when I learned about their nails, it kinda made me nervous since I wasn’t sure how far.
When I got my second one (a month later), I finally got a nail clipper and brush (they were always sold out). My first never got her nails done before, she was so happy and willing to let me do them. The second one didn’t need them since I got her from a pet store. They are the cutest thing, such beggers tho 😂
