    Hey Bjorn, lovely to see part 2 and you being so positive about the EQC, it is proving to be a better car than I expected.
    Just as info, I have finally gone on a long trip in my I pace and can now say that at a temperature of 7c and air con on, starting at 86% and finishing at 12%, I went 234km against a 10km/hr head wind travelling up a 700m mountainous country Road with over 90% at 100km/hr. (the speed limit). The Ave consumption was 254wh/km.

      I just wish Jaguar, Mercedes and Audi hadn’t overpriced their first EVs so much, especially the I-Pace. It’s too small, cramped and weird looking to command a price over $90K when optioned well. It can’t match the range or acceleration of a Model 3, let alone Model S and it’s not useable as a family SUV since it’s so small. Then you have the issues with Jag reliability, expensive parts, slow charging speeds, etc.
      I feel the Merc EQ C and E-Tron are also about $30K overpriced. With a range of just 200 miles, you’re pretty limited (in the US) where you can go without having to stop super frequently to charge.

    Quality of your videos is just amazing! Most top vloggers can handle the camera work and the editing so and so but where they fail hardest is the audio quality and the story. Without writen dialog people tend to repeat them selfs a lot. It makes videos longer but keeps them in amateur league. You on the other hand deliver broadcast quality content that makes many network shows feel outdated and clumsy. And above all - you know your stuff. Period. Nice detail at 28:52.

    Bjorn, maybe you can try to reduce the single-use plastics, since you care about the environment.
    A reusable water bottle + a reusable straw are cheap.

    • @dezz00002
      @dezz00002 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good point, but it would be a little awkward to refuse the plastic glass and ask for filling the liquids in a reusable bottle (or even glass) every single time.
      I wonder if McDonald's and others would grant or refuse the request. Companies also need to change their attitude towards this.
      Although, perhaps even by attempting the aboves he could help to draw attention to the matter and promote the use of reusables.
      I'm not sure he is willing to undertake this second mission, next to the promotion of EVs, though. Would be great, anyway.

      @@dezz00002 You can fill your bottle with tap water, it is safe to drink in Europe. If you really want a soft drink , buy a can or a bottle, at least they are recyclable.

      @@udishomer5852 Safe, but doesn't always taste so good. You may prefer fresh mineral water, soft drinks or tea, also to be cold in the summer, or hot (tea) in the winter. You can carry a Thermos, but then it won't be that fresh all day.
      Still useful, but I wonder how many people would follow suit. And so the fast food restaurants will keep on pouring the single-use plastics.
      The solution could be customer accessible taps of cold mineral water, soft drinks, tea and hot tea and perhaps coffee (as the staff obviously won't want to touch your glass or bottle). Then you pay as much as you put in your reusable glass or bottle.
      These could be installed in the shops, as well.

    That does seem like a nice car. Most important to me is the combination of charging speed and range for long trips, and it seems they have it right. But hmm... Still only as good as a first generation Model S in that respect, so it still seems that Tesla is a fair way ahead on that front. Tesla really did make something special.

    • @adultjunkie1647
      @adultjunkie1647 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Its basically 200km then 30min stop at highway for longer trips(at best)... Pretty bad when you compare it to ICE cars and more importantly to Tesla as you said. For some it may work fine...Bare in mind Tesla is rolling v3 superchargers - 250kw (yikes) so imagine that vs EQC that can support only 100kw...

    • @bradallen1832
      @bradallen1832 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adultjunkie1647 A lot of Mercedes drivers won't need that range. Some will. I feel like Mercedes will be able to get that sorted in 4 to 5 years from now. For the meanwhile, this is a very decent car for everyone else that can afford it. Most wealthy people don't need to drive very far: they can afford a nice house close to work, and can afford the good doctors near there too. This range will be good for them most days.
      If they manage branch factories or customers that are a further drive, then of course they will have to inspect the available stopovers necessary to make it round trip. Likely, they will know where to get a bite to eat with a fast charger. Alternatively, for factory owners and managers, they could put in an A/C charger and put in an office with a view of their car from the office, and sit there and hire and fire people while they wait for their car to charge. Once their car is charged up to get home, the visit is over!
      The no-nonsense charging protocol where you just plug in and it charges will be nice for those rare exceptions when you mis-plan your day. For days you know you will need to drive further, you use your other long distance car. If it's a Tesla, you'll be cursing how uncomfortable it is, but at least you'll get there without having to make as many stops.

      @@bradallen1832 Lol, nice comment :)
      Yeah its a luxury Suv thats much better as an ICE then an EV ;) But seriously, this car needs a good charging network or it can be a headache! Thats where Tesla is so strong! But as a second luxury car in a fleet, guess its ok...
      My main problem with this car is that there are many Merc-Benz lovers(which is understandable) that don`t really know about EV! So when I tell them about autonomy and specs of this car they just start talking trash about EV. In their mind if company like Merc has this mediocre EV everyone else has even worse! Thats why I would like to see them be even better then Tesla `cause they have resources and experience, right? Or maybe they just become lazy like everyone else in auto industry!

    Well...
    There is a popular misconception about the German autobahn...
    Even so there is no general speed limit, about seventy percent of the stretch of German Autobahn is under one speed restriction ore other...
    That is besides all the road work being done... since the right lane is hammered by all the trucks.

    When you did your 24h challenge with your Model 3 in Germany, do you remember after how long you reached the 1000km mark? I’m guessing 8h15 right? So for the 1000km challenge it’s about charging speed but also what kind of road is taken

    • @dezz00002
      @dezz00002 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The 24h challenge is more about the limits of cars. The 1000 km one is more about the feasibility in everyday life. And you won't normally drive 1000 km on the Autobahn.
      (Except if you realized after 333 km you have forgotten something at home, so gone back to pick up that thing, and gone forth again. :) )

      To be fair many Europeans travel more than aussies. Nothing to do with the size of the country rather complex jobs stretching across 3 or 4 EU states.
      Many of my friends from Poland travel to Holland or Belgium to get a car for sale 2 times in a week!
      That is 1200-1400km one way 4 times a week.
      They can't do it in EV yet without spending too much time which they would prefer to spend resting at home with a family.
      However they belong to 2% minority and many EU people don't travel more than 10-20km a day.
      Expensive EVs can satisfy 98% of people right now and I think 50% without stretching it can switch to EV only now (they hardly need fast charging and Ioniq/Soul/Golf/Leaf would be fine for them even if they don't know about it.
