Part 2: AE82 Quick Steering - Making the Corolla FX16 stiff again!

  • The Corolla FX16 GT-S is getting closer to being the ultimate touge monster it deserves to be! I also take the AE82 steering rack to Techno Toy Tuning to be fitted for custom tie-rod ends. Plus, I find out how bad the door hinges were and how I fixed them.

    Door pin kit: Dorman 38688
    Fender Braces: Ultra Racing UR-FD3-114
Lower Control Arm Brace: Ultra Racing UR-LA4-1191
The new steering rack is from a ZZE-110 with a steering pinion from a JDM MR-S transplanted into it. (KOYO rack) It seems to shares the same width as the AE82 steering rack so the factory tie-rods should bolt right on. But keep an eye out as Techno Toy Tuning might stock upgraded tie-rods!

There's not much AE82 content out there and yours is topnotch. It's such a shame most of the FX16s have met their demise and they're so overshadowed by the AE86.

I know it’s not altogether initial d but would you consider running it to my Subaru Impreza Wagon ?( classic Impreza gf body similar to gf8 sti wagon ) I need a good reference point and I feel that the fx16 is suitable considering that I can’t find an ae86 owner to run it up against. To me these cars for their time are the benchmark.

I got raceland coilovers but plan on swapping it out for something idea and of better build quality. It’s non turbo and it’s still fun to drive. That being said, I’m looking to maximize it’s potential in every way possible while being able to still daily it without messing with power directly.

I seriously debated going rivet vs bolt. I ended up going with the bolt option with a big washer because it was going to be stronger than a rivet. I really didn’t want a rivet to pop out from a big pot hole. Thanks for the comment!

    • @slohachi6433
