    Still the best 4AGE build on TH-cam. Not a rocketship monster; but just a daily-driven, humble and nimble small hatchback with an engine note to die for. Really hope more would notice you!

      The 4age blacktop comes with a pretty light flywheel, 5.5kg. I think any lighter and it would be hard to drive on the street.

O.O (as well as a list of all of your current mods, so I don't make an arse of myself by repeating things already done... o.O ---> You can save the list as a note & copy\paste it whenever you request mod suggestions in a video... =P)

  • @antothemanto77

    I think weight reduction and chassis reinforcement would improve the feeling of the car and it wouldn't be too expensive. Something like a half cage and a strut brace, removing the back seats, removing sound deadening, getting nice racing seats for the front, lighter exhaust system if you haven't done so already

  • @rpsmee

    Alright... I'm gonna have to do this rack swap. The T3 tie rod ends are super boss too. I just did coilover threads sitting on the OEM perch with 250# springs this weekend. I feel that "magic" you speak of. Adding more spring to the front end gives it like 15 more horsepower because it can put it down on the ground better out of a corner. Still waiting to see if my body can take the punishment of 250F/350R springs at rallycross :)

    • @sushpants
      @sushpants  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    best up grade is cylinder head work, I have done heaps, unfortunately there is a lot of maths and skill involved ....but you could spend time matching every flange on the IN side, so that the ports have NO mismatch from head to trumpet get a shop to give the IN seats a 3 or 5 angle seat job, if you keen, you can use a small flapper wheel of about 120 grit to smooth out any bad looking defects, but do not take too much material out ! making the ports bigger without doing the maths can be detrimental to HP The biggest hiccup in posts is usually a little bit down from the seats, where the port meets and more often than not leaves quite a sharp edge, put a 2 > 3 mm radius here, with out taking material from the port
    changing cams will just move the power curve up or down the rev range

    • @danvorobiov
      @danvorobiov 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sushpants With 4-point seat belts it is not so important, because the weight of your body is supported by the belts. But with OEM seat belts some times you need support from the steering wheel for your left hand, because right hand is changing gears and both feets are busy with all three pedals at the same time.

    Is the mrs pinion a direct fit for the e101 steering rack?

    Just an update for anyone that goes to Steve's shop. He has really fallen off and damaged my brz's coilovers. I went to get my alignment checked which was only slightly off and left with deep groves and scratches in the top hats. Just ridiculous stuff. I was standing right in front as he was doing the aligment and whenever he was confused never asked me anything. Dont take a car you car about there.

    Did you have any issues with the length of your steering column/rack mating surface etc? I used the fast rack from a AE111 BZR (2.6t) and swapped it into my AE92 FXGT. Let's just say it wasn't a direct fit, it fits, but not perfectly, my steering column needs to be longer and I'm not sure if it's my U-joints but, it definitely feels notchy

    Just noticed that your rear toe is very strongly inwards when reading your papers, I'm guessing its a solid rear axle, but if possible, try to find a solution to it. I have the same thing going on with my K10 Micra and I will do the most reasonable thing and build my own double wishbone rear suspension, obviously :)

    • @sushpants
      @sushpants  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's actually independent rear suspension back there. The balance of the car right now is fairly neutral at the limit. Turn in harder and the rear steps out or give it gas and it falls back in line.

      @@sushpants Hm, thats interesting. We have a Mazda 323 '90 that we run endurance racing with, and we have -0.15 toe out in the rear to get it nearly oversteery.
      We drive the shit out of many higher hp/rwd cars on bendy tracks!

    I dont have IG. Where can I buy a couple stickers? An AE82 is my dream car for a daily driver but they’re becoming so hard to find.

    • @sushpants
      @sushpants  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think they should so long as you have a Koyo rack. The current rack is out of ZZE110 (check out part 1 from the series)

    Hey sushpants I love your videos but I was wondering where you got your engine from? I also have a 87 fx16 with the 16v but I want to do a engine swap to the 20v but can’t find any. Any suggestions? Thanks! And keep up the Toyota content!

    I'm really curious to know if a similar steering ratio upgrade can be done on the AW11 manual racks with AE101 and ZZW30 parts.
